[0031] The effects of the invention

[0032] According to the present invention, an oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic composition containing vitamin A or a derivative of vitamin A can be provided, which has excellent stability and good usability. Detailed Implementation

[0033] The embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below. It should be noted that the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments, and various modifications can be implemented within the scope of the spirit of the invention.

[0034] Water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions

[0035] The water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition of the present invention (hereinafter also referred to as "the composition of the present invention") may be a water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition comprising the following substances: Vitamin A or vitamin A derivatives Polar oils without hydroxyl groups, and PEG-12 polydimethylsiloxane; Or the following water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition: It contains vitamin A or vitamin A derivatives, and polar oils without hydroxyl groups, and The non-hydroxyl polar oil contains at least one selected from triglycerides (caprylic / capric), diethylhexyl succinate, and diisobutyl adipate.

[0036] The compositions of the present invention exhibit excellent stability and good usability when they contain vitamin A or a derivative of vitamin A, a polar oil without hydroxyl groups, and PEG-12 polydimethylsiloxane, or when they contain vitamin A or a derivative of vitamin A, and a polar oil without hydroxyl groups, wherein the polar oil without hydroxyl groups contains at least one selected from triglycerides (caprylic / capric) esters, diethylhexyl succinate, and diisobutyl adipate.

[0037] Because vitamin A is unstable, when formulating oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic compositions containing vitamin A, nonionic surfactants are considered as an alternative to ionic surfactants. However, through in-depth research, the inventors have found that even when using nonionic surfactants, the vitamin A in the formulated composition is sometimes unstable. Furthermore, vitamin A esters, as derivatives of vitamin A, are considered more stable than vitamin A, but it has been found that due to the influence of the oily medium used, reactions such as hydrolysis or transesterification sometimes occur, resulting in the instability of vitamin A esters as well.

[0038] Furthermore, through further in-depth research by the inventors, the types of polar oils and various nonionic surfactants were studied as oil components in the composition. The results showed that when a polar oil without hydroxyl groups and PEG-12 polydimethylsiloxane were used together, vitamin A or vitamin A esters could be stably present in the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic composition, and the useability was good.

[0039] Furthermore, surprisingly, through further in-depth research by the inventors, it was discovered that by using a specific type of non-hydroxyl polar oil, vitamin A or vitamin A esters can be stably present in an oil-in-water emulsion cosmetic composition, and the composition has good usability.

[0040] It should be noted that, in this invention, the stability of vitamin A or vitamin A derivatives can be evaluated by, for example, the methods described in the following embodiments.

[0041] In addition, in this invention, usability can be comprehensively evaluated mainly by the moist and sticky feel when applying the cosmetic composition.

[0042] Vitamin A or its derivatives

[0043] The compositions of this invention contain vitamin A or vitamin A derivatives. By containing vitamin A or vitamin A derivatives, the compositions of this invention can improve skin elasticity and also provide improvement in wrinkles and age spots. It should be noted that, of course, in this invention, the compositions may contain both vitamin A and vitamin A derivatives.

[0044] In this invention, vitamin A is a general term for retinol, retinal, and retinoic acid, and is classified as a fat-soluble vitamin. Therefore, the vitamin A contained in the composition of this invention may include at least one selected from retinol, retinal, and retinoic acid.

[0045] Furthermore, in this invention, the derivative of vitamin A is not particularly limited; for example, it can be a vitamin A ester. Examples of vitamin A esters include, but are not limited to, vitamin A acetate, vitamin A palmitate, and vitamin A propionate.

[0046] More specifically, in one embodiment of the present invention, the vitamin A derivative may be retinyl acetate. In other embodiments of the present invention, the vitamin A derivative may be retinyl palmitate.

[0047] In the compositions of the present invention, the content of vitamin A or vitamin A derivatives is not particularly limited and can be appropriately adjusted according to the purpose and use. For example, the content of vitamin A or vitamin A derivatives (the total content of both vitamin A and vitamin A derivatives in the case of the composition) relative to the total composition can be 0.05% by mass or more, 0.06% by mass or more, 0.07% by mass or more, 0.08% by mass or more, 0.09% by mass or more, 0.10% by mass or more, 0.15% by mass or more, 0.20% by mass or more, 0.25% by mass or more, 0.30% by mass or more, 0.35% by mass or more, 0.40% by mass or more, 0.45% by mass or more, or 0. 50% or more by mass, 0.55% or more by mass, 0.60% or more by mass, 0.65% or more by mass, 0.70% or more by mass, 0.75% or more by mass, 0.80% or more by mass, 0.85% or more by mass, 0.90% or more by mass, 0.95% or more by mass, or 1.0% or more by mass. Alternatively, it can be less than 1.0% by mass, less than 0.9% by mass, less than 0.8% by mass, less than 0.7% by mass, less than 0.6% by mass, less than 0.5% by mass, less than 0.4% by mass, less than 0.3% by mass, or less than 0.2% by mass.

[0048] <Polar oils without hydroxyl groups>

[0049] The compositions of the present invention comprise polar oils that do not have hydroxyl groups. From the viewpoint of not undergoing transesterification with vitamin A esters, polar oils that do not have hydroxyl groups are also preferred in the present invention.

[0050] It should be noted that, in this invention, "polar oil" refers to highly polar oils, other than silicone oils, that can be used in cosmetics. This includes substances with an IOB value of 0.10 or higher, 0.15 or higher, 0.20 or higher, 0.25 or higher, 0.30 or higher, 0.35 or higher, 0.40 or higher, 0.45 or higher, 0.50 or higher, or 0.55 or higher. Furthermore, the IOB value of the polar oils involved in this invention can be 0.60 or lower, 0.55 or lower, 0.50 or lower, 0.45 or lower, 0.40 or lower, 0.35 or lower, 0.30 or lower, 0.25 or lower, or 0.20 or lower. It should also be noted that the IOB value is short for Inorganic / Organic Balance, which represents the ratio of inorganic value to organic value, and is an indicator of the polarity of an organic compound. Specifically, the IOB value is expressed as IOB value = inorganic value / organic value. Regarding the "inorganic value" and "organic value" respectively, for example, the "organic value" of one carbon atom in a molecule is 20 and the "inorganic value" of one hydroxyl group is 100. The "inorganic value" and "organic value" corresponding to various atoms or functional groups are set. By accumulating the "inorganic value" and "organic value" of all atoms and functional groups in an organic compound, the IOB value of the organic compound can be calculated (for example, see Yoshio Koda, "Organic Concept Map - Basics and Applications -", pp. 11-17, Sankyo Publishing, 1984).

[0051] Furthermore, polar oils may contain, for example, ester oils, ultraviolet absorbers, or mixtures thereof. Therefore, in this invention, as a polar oil without hydroxyl groups, it may contain at least one of, for example, ester oils without hydroxyl groups, ultraviolet absorbers without hydroxyl groups, and mixtures thereof.

[0052] More specifically, the polar oil that does not have hydroxyl groups may contain, for example, at least one selected from pentaerythritol tetra(ethylhexanoate), neopentyl glycol didecanoate, tri(caprylic / capric acid) glyceride, diethylhexyl succinate, cetyl ethylhexanoate, diisopropyl sebacate, and diisobutyl adipate.

[0053] In the above-mentioned polar oils without hydroxyl groups, it is particularly preferred that they contain at least one selected from triglycerides (caprylic / capric), diethylhexyl succinate, diisopropyl sebacate, and diisobutyl adipate. This is because, when the polar oil without hydroxyl groups contains at least one selected from triglycerides (caprylic / capric), diethylhexyl succinate, and diisobutyl adipate, vitamin A or vitamin A derivatives can be stably present in the compositions of the present invention, and their usability is good.

[0054] In the composition of the present invention, the content of the polar oil without a hydroxyl group is not particularly limited. For example, relative to the whole composition, it can be 7.0% by mass or more, 8.0% by mass or more, 9.0% by mass or more, 10% by mass or more, 11% by mass or more, 12% by mass or more, 13% by mass or more, 14% by mass or more, or 15% by mass or more. Additionally, it can be 30% by mass or less, 29% by mass or less, 28% by mass or less, 27% by mass or less, 26% by mass or less, 25% by mass or less, 24% by mass or less, 23% by mass or less, 22% by mass or less, 21% by mass or less, 20% by mass or less, 19% by mass or less, 18% by mass or less, 17% by mass or less, 16% by mass or less, or 15% by mass or less.

[0055] In addition, in the composition of the present invention, relative to 100 parts by mass of vitamin A or a derivative of vitamin A (in the case of containing both vitamin A and a derivative of vitamin A, the total is 100 parts by mass), the polar oil without a hydroxyl group can be, for example, 3000 parts by mass or more, 3500 parts by mass or more, 4000 parts by mass or more, 4500 parts by mass or more, 500 parts by mass or more, 5500 parts by mass or more, 6000 parts by mass or more, 6500 parts by mass or more, 7000 parts by mass or more, 7500 parts by mass or more, 8000 parts by mass or more, 8500 parts by mass or more, 9000 parts by mass or more, 9500 parts by mass or more, 10000 parts by mass or more, 11000 parts by mass or more, 12000 parts by mass or more, 13000 parts by mass or more, 14000 parts by mass or more, or 15000 parts by mass or more. Additionally, it can be 18000 parts by mass or less, 15000 parts by mass or less, 12000 parts by mass or less, 10000 parts by mass or less, 8000 parts by mass or less, or 5000 parts by mass or less.

Additionally, PEG-12 dimethicone also belongs to nonionic surfactants. Additionally, PEG-12 dimethicone can function as an emulsifier in the composition.

[0059] When the composition of the present invention contains PEG-12 polydimethylsiloxane, the content of PEG-12 polydimethylsiloxane is not particularly limited, and relative to the whole composition, for example, it can be 0.5% by mass or more, 0.6% by mass or more, 0.7% by mass or more, 0.8% by mass or more, 0.9% by mass or more, or 1.0% by mass or more. Alternatively, it can be 2.0% by mass or less, 1.9% by mass or less, 1.8% by mass or less, 1.7% by mass or less, 1.6% by mass or less, 1.5% by mass or less, 1.4% by mass or less, 1.3% by mass or less, 1.2% by mass or less, 1.1% by mass or less, or 1.0% by mass or less.

[0060] <Water>

[0061] The compositions of the present invention contain water. Water constitutes the external phase of the oil-in-water emulsion composition.

[0062] The water that can be used in the compositions of the present invention is not particularly limited and can be, for example, water used in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. For example, ion-exchanged water, distilled water, ultrapure water, and tap water can be used.

[0063] The water content in the composition of the present invention is not particularly limited and can be appropriately adjusted according to the purpose and use. For example, relative to the total composition, the water content can be 20% or more by mass, 30% or more by mass, 40% or more by mass, 50% or more by mass, 60% or more by mass, 70% or more by mass, 80% or more by mass, or 85% or more by mass; alternatively, it can be 90% or less by mass, 85% or less by mass, 75% or less by mass, 65% or less by mass, or 55% or less by mass.

[0064] <Other Ingredients>

[0091] Example

[0092] The following examples illustrate the present invention in more detail, but the invention is not limited thereto. It should be noted that, unless otherwise specified, the mixing amounts in the tables are expressed as mass percent.

[0093] Examples 1-7 and Comparative Examples 1-3

[0094] According to the prescriptions in Table 1, the water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions of Examples 1-7 and Comparative Examples 1-3 were prepared.

[0095] For each of the obtained compositions, stability and usability were evaluated according to the evaluation table below, and the results are shown in Table 1.

[0096] <Stability Evaluation>

[0097] The pharmaceutical stability of the vitamin A derivatives mixed in each composition was evaluated as follows.

[0098] More specifically, after storing the samples at high temperatures (approximately 45°C to approximately 55°C) for about one month, the reduction rate of vitamin A derivatives relative to the initial value was confirmed.

[0099] In addition, the evaluation criteria are as follows: "A": Cases where the decrease rate relative to the initial value is less than 11%. "B": Cases where the reduction rate relative to the initial value is greater than 11% but less than 14%. "C": Cases where the reduction rate relative to the initial value is 14% or more. <Usability Evaluation> Usability was evaluated based on the tactile sensation when each composition was applied to the skin of a panel of experts.

[0100] The evaluation criteria are as follows: "A": Moisturized and not sticky. "B": Feels moisturized, but slightly sticky. "C": Insufficient hydration and a sticky feeling. [Table 1]

[0101] [Table 2]

[0102] As shown in Table 1, the compositions of Examples 1-7 all exhibit excellent stability and good usability. It is evident that the compositions of Examples 3, 4, 6, and 7, in particular, yielded the best results in terms of stability and usability.

[0103] In contrast, the compositions of Comparative Examples 1-3 all exhibit good usability but poor stability. The reason for this is as follows: It is speculated that the compositions of Comparative Examples 1-3, since they do not contain polar oils without hydroxyl groups, cannot stably preserve the blended vitamin A derivatives.

[0104] Comparing Examples 4 and 5

[0105] Based on the formulations in Table 3, water-in-oil emulsion cosmetic compositions for Comparative Examples 4 and 5 were prepared. Stability and usability were evaluated in the same manner as above, and the results are shown in Table 3.

[0106] [Table 3]

[0107] As shown in Table 3, the composition of Comparative Example 4 has poor usability. Furthermore, it can be seen that the composition of Comparative Example 5, which has different constituent components from Comparative Example 4, has good usability but poor stability.
