Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND Technical area
[0001] The present invention relates to a lighting device. STATE OF THE ART
[0002] A lighting device that illuminates the area in front of a vehicle is conventionally known (see, for example, JP 2008-147003 A). JP 2008-147003 A describes light being reflected backwards by a flat mirror located on the front of a light-emitting diode (LED) light source, and the light being reflected forwards by a lens having a stepped shape and located on the rear of the light source. OVERVIEW
[0003] However, in the technique described in JP 2008-147003 A, the flat mirror has a structure that does not transmit light and blocks it from the light source. This results in a limited illumination area. Furthermore, the reflective component has a structure in which the flat mirror and reflector are separate components. Therefore, a separate manufacturing process for assembling the flat mirror and reflector may be required.
[0004] Document DE 698 03 297 T2 shows a double reflection lens which achieves effective area illumination with one light source and one lens element.
[0005] Document DE 10 2006 008 191 A1 shows a lighting unit for vehicles.
[0006] Document DE 10 2013 226 181 A1 shows an optical element and an arrangement for light emission.
[0007] The present invention was made in view of the circumstances described above and has as its objective to provide a lighting device which has a wide illumination range.
[0008] A lighting device comprises: a light source and a lens configured to diffuse light emitted by the light source, the lens having a first reflective surface arranged on a front of the light source in a front-to-back direction of a vehicle, and a second reflective surface arranged on a rear of the first reflective surface in the front-to-back direction of a vehicle, the first reflective surface reflecting the light from the light source to the second reflective surface, and the second reflective surface reflecting the light from the first reflective surface to an outside of a vehicle body, the first reflective surface having a transparency, wherein with respect to an emission angle relative to a central axis of the light source, the first reflective surface is arranged in an angular range.in which the emission angle is greater than an angle θ1 of the emission angle relative to an end of a base region of the lens, the end being oriented in a direction of the central axis of the light source, and wherein the second reflective surface is arranged such that it points towards a side of the vehicle body.
[0009] In the above design, the first reflective surface can have a parabolic shape.
[0010] Furthermore, in the above design, an uneven surface treatment process can be carried out on one surface of the first reflective surface.
[0011] Furthermore, in the above design, the second reflective surface can have a stepped shape.
[0012] Furthermore, in the above design, the light reflected by the second reflective surface can be projected in a direction that is inclined forwards and backwards.
[0013] Furthermore, in the above design, the lens, which has the first reflective surface and the second reflective surface, can be integrally designed.
[0014] Furthermore, in the above design, the first reflective surface can be a lens surface.
[0015] Furthermore, in the above design, the first reflective surface can be arranged in a position that is recessed from the perimeter of a lens surface.
[0016] Furthermore, in the above design, the first reflective surface can have a rectangular shape and one long side of the first reflective surface can be arranged along one side of the lens.
[0017] A lighting device comprises a light source and a lens configured to diffuse light emitted by the light source, the lens having a first reflective surface located at the front of the light source and a second reflective surface located at the rear of the first reflective surface, the first reflective surface reflecting the light from the light source to the second reflective surface, and the second reflective surface reflecting the light from the first reflective surface to an exterior surface of a vehicle body, and the first reflective surface being transparent. According to this configuration, the first reflective surface is transparent and partially transmits the light from the light source. Therefore, the first reflective surface appears luminous, similar to the other parts of the lens.Another area of the headlight, as in the case where the first reflective surface has no transparency, can be illuminated.
[0018] In the above design, the first reflective surface can have a parabolic shape. According to this design, the light reflected by the first reflective surface is simply scattered evenly at the second reflective surface. Even the light that is scattered towards one end of the second reflective surface can simply appear bright, similar to the other parts.
[0019] Furthermore, in the above design, a non-uniform surface treatment process can be carried out on one surface of the first reflective surface. According to this design, the amount of light reflected and transmitted to the first reflective surface are controlled to ensure that the entire surface appears uniformly luminous.
[0020] Furthermore, in the above design, the second reflective surface can have a stepped shape. According to this design, the light reflected by the second reflective surface is scattered and appears uniformly luminous as a whole.
[0021] Furthermore, in the above design, the light reflected by the second reflective surface can be projected in a direction inclined forwards and backwards. According to this design, the lighting device, i.e., the illumination, can also be seen from a side surface of the vehicle.
[0022] Furthermore, in the above design, the lens, which includes the first and second reflective surfaces, can be integrally designed. According to this design, the lens has a simple structure, and the manufacturing efficiency of the lighting device is improved.
[0023] Furthermore, in the above design, the first reflective surface can be a lens surface. According to this design, the lens has a simple design, and the manufacturing efficiency of the lighting device is improved.
[0024] Furthermore, in the above design, the first reflective surface can be positioned outside the perimeter of a lens surface. According to this design, the first reflective surface can be made inconspicuous.
[0025] Furthermore, in the above design, the first reflective surface can have a rectangular shape, and one long side of the first reflective surface can be positioned along a lens face. According to this design, the first reflective surface can be made inconspicuous. [0045] Fig. Figure 2 is a front view showing a circumferential part of the front headlight 51 of the motorcycle 1 according to the present invention.
[0046] The motorcycle 1 has a front headlight (lighting device) 51. The front headlight 51 extends rearward and upward, radiating outwards from a central section in the direction of the vehicle's width. A pair of right and left front turn signals 52 are arranged above it on the rear of the front headlight 51. The front turn signals 52 are located on the front of the upper bridge 27 (see Fig. 1) arranged to match the height of the upper bridge 27.
[0047] A speedometer unit 53 is provided above the front headlight 51.
[0048] The speedometer unit 53 is V-shaped, narrowing downwards in a front view. To conform to this shape, a V-shaped central section is cut out in the upper part of the front fairing 42, extending across the width of the vehicle. The front fairing 42 is thus formed in a substantially V-shape in a front view. The front fairing 42 is located between the speedometer unit 53 and the lower bridge 28. An opening 42A, which opens at the front, is formed in the front fairing 42. The headlight 51 is exposed at the front and at one side by the opening 42A (see Fig. 1 and Fig. 2).
[0049] The pair of right and left side panels 43 are each arranged on an outer side in the vehicle width direction of the lower bridge 28. An air inlet unit 43A, which opens forward, is formed in the side panel 43. The air inlet unit 43A is designed to introduce air to the inside of the vehicle body. The air inlet unit 43A is arranged at the front of the cylinder area 32 of the engine 11 and is positioned above the cylinder area 32 (see Fig. 1).
[0050] Fig. Figure 3 is a front view of the headlight 51. Fig. Figure 4 is a perspective exploded view of the headlight 51.
[0051] The front headlight 51 is designed to be substantially symmetrical on two sides with respect to a vertical center line C. The front headlight 51 comprises a housing 61 arranged on a front side of the steering head tube 15, a reflector 71 arranged on a front side of the housing 61, an extension (inner lens) 81 arranged on a front side of the reflector 71, an outer lens 91 covering a front side of the extension 81, and base elements 111 and 121 for various light sources.
[0052] The mounting areas 61A and 61B are each provided on an upper end part of the housing 61. The housing 61 is attached to the upper bridge 27 (see Fig. 1) and the lower bridge 28 (see Fig. 1) The lens is attached by means of the mounting areas 61A and 61B and similar elements via struts (not shown). An outer mounting area 62, which has an annular shape, is provided in a circumferential edge region of the housing 61. The outer mounting area 62 has an insertion groove 62A, which has a recessed groove shape and extends annularly. An insertion area 94 of the outer lens 91 is inserted into the insertion groove 62A via a sealing element (not shown).
[0053] On an inner side of the annular shape of the outer mounting area 62, a main body area 63 is arranged at a central section in the vehicle width direction, and a pair of right and left extension areas 64 and 65 are provided on an upper side of the main body area 63. The base element 111, which has a plate shape for a beam and a thickness in a forward and rearward direction, is arranged at the main body area 63 and the right extension area 65. The base element 111 has a plurality of light sources (not shown) for the beam. Electrical current is supplied to the base element 111 via an electrical cable (not shown).
[0054] The reflector 71 is arranged on a front side of the base element 111. The reflector 71 is attached to the housing 61.
[0055] Reflector 71 has an upper reflector 72 and a lower reflector 73. In the Fig. In the front view shown in Figure 2, the upper reflector 72 and the lower reflector 73 each have a shape that is longer in the direction from right to left than in the direction from top to bottom.
[0056] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 2, the upper reflector 72 has a central reflector area 72A, which is arranged on the central part in the direction of the vehicle's width, and a left reflector area 72B and a right reflector area 72C are arranged to the left and right of the central reflector area 72A, respectively. The central reflector area 72A has an inverted trapezoidal shape, which, in a front view, is longer in the right-to-left direction than in the top-to-bottom direction. The left reflector area 72B and the right reflector area 72C each have a substantially rectangular shape, which is longer in the right-to-left direction than in the top-to-bottom direction.
[0057] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 4, the upper reflector 72 has a bottom wall 74 projecting forward, a rear wall 75 extending upward from the bottom wall 74, and an upper extension wall 76 extending forward from an upper end of the rear wall 75. The upper extension wall 76 is spaced a certain distance from the bottom wall 74. Furthermore, a left wall section 77 and a right wall section 78, extending downward from the right and left ends of the upper extension wall 76 respectively, are provided to the left and right of the upper reflector 72.
[0058] The extension 81 is arranged on a front face of the reflector 71. The extension 81 has a bilaterally symmetrical shape. The contour of the extension 81 is formed along an inner circumferential surface of the outer application area 62 of the housing 61.
[0059] The extension 81 has a frame area 82 that is annular and semicircular in shape, wide in the right-to-left direction. A subdivision area 83, extending in the vehicle width direction, is formed on a central section of the frame area 82 in the top-to-bottom direction. The subdivision area 83 is plate-shaped and has a thickness in the top-to-bottom direction. The subdivision area 83 divides an interior space of the frame area 82 to form an upper opening 84 and a lower opening 85. As shown in Fig. As shown in Figure 3, the lateral width of the upper opening 84 is greater than the lateral width of the lower opening 85. The lower opening 85 has the shape of an isosceles triangle, which has a wider width in the right-to-left direction and, in a front view, has its base at the top.
[0060] In the front view, the upper reflector 72 is exposed through the upper opening 84. The light reflected by the upper reflector 72 is emitted forward through the upper opening 84.
[0061] The lower reflector 73 is exposed to the lower opening 85. The light reflected by the lower reflector 73 is emitted forward through the lower opening 85.
[0062] Fig. Figure 5 is a perspective view of a lens unit 101 on a left side. Fig. Figure 6 is a front view of lens unit 101 on the left side.
[0063] A pair of right and left lens units (lenses) 101 is provided above the upper opening 84. The lens unit 101 is transparent. Light is transmitted through the lens unit 101. The lens unit 101 has the shape of the letter "y", which lies transversely in a front view. In particular, the lens unit 101 has a base region 102 extending in the vehicle width direction, an extension region 103 extending substantially along the same straight line from an outer end in the vehicle width direction of the base region 102, and a branch region 104 extending in the vehicle width direction from an outer end in the vehicle width direction of the base region 102 and extending outwards and downwards in the vehicle width direction.
[0064] The base area 102 is arranged in a front view on an outside in the vehicle width direction of the middle reflector area 72A and is positioned above the left reflector area 72B or the right reflector area 72C.
[0065] The expansion area 103 is provided in a position that overlaps the expansion areas 64 and 65 of the housing 61.
[0066] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 4, the frame area 82 of the extension 81 has a bridge area 87 that connects the lens unit 101 on a left side and the lens unit 101 on a right side. An outer access opening 87A is formed on a central part of the bridge area 87 in a right-to-left direction. A cable harness arrangement area 87B, which is recessed downwards in a semi-cylindrical shape, is formed on the left side of the outer access opening 87A. In addition, a plurality of projections 87C, which project rearwards, are formed in the bridge area 87. Mounting openings 121A of the base element 121 for a position light are each fitted into the projections 87C. The base element 121 for the position light is held by the bridge area 87.
[0067] An extension area 86, extending outwards in the vehicle width direction, is formed on an outer upper surface of the lens unit 101 in the vehicle width direction. An outer engagement part 86A is formed at a head end of the extension area 86.
[0068] An external access opening 82A is formed between the extension area 103 and the branching area 104.
[0069] In the frame area 82 an outer engagement area 82B is formed to correspond to an outside in the direction from right to left of the lower opening 85.
[0070] An engagement area of the outer lens 91 (not shown) engages the outer engagement opening 87A, the outer engagement piece 86A, the outer engagement opening 82A, and the outer engagement area 82B. The outer lens 91 is arranged on a front face of the extension 81. The extension 81 is held by being surrounded from the front and rear between the outer lens 91 and the housing 61.
[0071] The lens unit 101 of the extension 81 is transparent, but unlike lens unit 101, i.e., the frame area 82, the subdivision area 83, the extension area 86, and the bridge area 87 are opaque. Lens unit 101, frame area 82, subdivision area 83, extension area 86, and bridge area 87 are integrally formed. In this design, for example, an opaque part can be created by forming extension 81 with a transparent base material and then coloring the base material. That is, lens unit 101, frame area 82, subdivision area 83, extension area 86, and bridge area 87 can be integrally formed by coloring the areas that differ from lens unit 101.
[0072] The outer lens 91 is located at the front of the extension 81.
[0073] The outer lens 91 is made of a transparent material and allows the transmission of light. The outer lens 91 is formed with a main body region 92, which curves forward according to a forward-spreading shape of the extension 81, an outer circumferential region 93 formed on an outer circumference of the main body region 92, and the insertion region 94, which has an annular shape projecting rearward and is formed on a rearward side of the outer circumferential region 93. The insertion region 94 is inserted into the insertion groove 62A of the housing 61. A wiring harness insertion region 93A, which has a hollow shape and extends in one direction from front to rear, is formed on the left side (one side in the vehicle width direction) of the vehicle centerline C in an upper part of the outer lens 91. A wiring harness 123 (see Fig. 7) is inserted through a cable harness insertion area 93A. The outer lens 91 is attached to the housing 61 by a fastening tool (not shown). As in Fig. As shown in Figure 1, the outer lens 91 is arranged to bulge forward through the opening 42A. The wiring harness insertion area 93A and the wiring harness 123 are covered by the front panel 42 (see Figure 1). Fig. 2).
[0074] The light emitted by each light source for the beam (not shown) of the base element 111 is reflected by the upper reflector 72 or the lower reflector 73 of the reflector 71, flows forward through the upper opening 84 and the lower opening 85 of the extension 81 and illuminates forward through the outer lens 91 in front of the vehicle.
[0075] Fig. Figure 7 is a cross-sectional view taken along line VII-VII of Fig. 3 was created.
[0076] The base element 121 for the position light is arranged on the rear side of the lens unit 101 of the extension 81. A pair of right and left LED light sources 121B are arranged on the base element 121 to correspond to the right and left lens units 101. A cable 122, running from the wiring harness 123, which is inserted through the outer lens 91 and located in a wiring harness assembly area 97B, is connected to the base element 121, thus supplying electrical current. The lens unit 101 is illuminated by light from the LED light source 121B of the base element 121 for the position light. The base element 121 is arranged on the front side of the base element 111. The base element 121 is arranged on a central section in the front-to-rear direction in the headlight 51. The base element 121 is positioned above the upper extension wall 76 of the reflector 71.
[0077] The LED light source 121B and the lens unit 101 form the position light in the present embodiment.
[0078] Fig. Figure 8 is a cross-sectional view taken along line VIII-VIII of Fig. 3 was created. In Fig. Figure 8 shows the directions of propagation of a portion of the light L emitted from the LED light source 121B, indicated by the arrows.
[0079] The lens unit 101 is arranged on a central axis 121L in the design of the LED light source 121B. The central axis 121L runs from front to back.
[0080] The base area 102 of the lens unit 101 is positioned where light from a region propagates in an area where the emission angle relative to the central axis 121L of the LED light source 121B is smaller than an angle θ1. Conversely, the extension area 103 is positioned in a direction where the emission angle is larger than an angle θ1. The extension area 103 is located on an outer side in the vehicle width direction of the LED light source 121B and extends further rearward than the base element 121.
[0081] With reference to Fig. 5, Fig. 6 and Fig. Figure 8 is a recessed area 103A, which is recessed in the extension area 103 of the lens unit 101 with respect to a front surface (area) 101A. The recessed area 103A is rectangular in shape and extends in the width direction of the vehicle. One longitudinal side of the recessed area 103A is formed along a longitudinal direction of the extension area 103. A first reflective surface 103B is formed on a bottom surface of the recessed area 103A. The first reflective surface 103B also forms a front surface of the lens unit 101 and is a front surface that is recessed into a circumferential portion with respect to the front surface 101A. The first reflective surface 103B is formed at a position that is recessed with respect to a front surface 101A of the lens unit 101. The surface shape of the first reflective surface 103B can be designed inconspicuously.
[0082] The first reflective surface 103B has a curved shape that projects forward and has a parabolic shape with the position of the LED light source 121B as its focal point. The first reflective surface 103B is transparent. Therefore, some of the light received from the LED light source 121B can be transmitted forward through the boundary surface, and the remaining light can be reflected as parallel light propagating along an outer rear surface in the direction of the vehicle's width. The first reflective surface 103B is designed to have an angular range in which the emission angle with respect to the central axis 121L is greater than angle θ1, and the emission angle extends up to an angle of θ2.
[0083] In the present embodiment, a non-uniform surface treatment process is performed on the first reflective surface 103B. This non-uniform surface treatment process is a so-called embossing process. The non-uniform surface treatment process is performed on the first reflective surface 103B. Therefore, light can be reflected irregularly from a part that has a non-uniform shape. Furthermore, at the first reflective surface 103B, the light is reflected as parallel light onto a part that retains the parabolic shape without forming a non-uniform surface. Therefore, the first reflective surface 103B is designed to reflect and transmit the light while adjusting the amount of light.
[0084] Fig. Figure 9 is a rear view of lens unit 101 on the left side.
[0085] As in Fig. 8 and Fig. As shown in Figure 9, a second reflective surface 103C, which is cut out in a stepped shape, is formed on an outer rear side in the vehicle width direction of the first reflective surface 103B within the extension area 103. The second reflective surface 103C is positioned in a direction where the emission angle with respect to the central axis 121L is greater than the angle θ2. The second reflective surface 103C is arranged along the longitudinal direction of the extension area 103 and is located at a head end of the extension area 103. A large portion of the second reflective surface 103C is formed on a rear side of the base element 121. Each of the stepped reflective surfaces of the second reflective surface 103C is inclined further rearward when located on an outer side in the vehicle width direction. In this design, the parallel light from the first reflective surface 103B is evenly scattered by the second reflective surface 103C and can be reflected far in the direction from front to back. It should be emphasized that the second reflective surface 103C also has a degree of transparency and transmits a certain amount of light to the rear of the lens unit 101.
[0086] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 9, a third reflective surface 103D, which is cut out in a stepped shape, is formed below the second reflective surface 103C. The third reflective surface 103D runs along the longitudinal direction of the second reflective surface 103C. The third reflective surface 103D captures ambient light at the rear of the lens unit 101 and transmits and reflects the ambient light forward.
[0087] The first reflective surface 103B, the second reflective surface 103C, and the third reflective surface 103D are formed from the integrally formed lens unit 101. Therefore, the structure is simple and the productivity is improved compared to a case in which the first reflective surface 103B, the second reflective surface 103C, and the third reflective surface 103D are each formed as separate elements.
[0088] In general, in the LED light source 121B, the amount of light L in one direction of the predetermined central axis 121L (see Fig. 8) greatest. The amount of light L decreases in such a direction as the angle of emission with respect to the central axis 121L increases. Furthermore, the light L emitted by the LED light source 121B almost disappears in the direction perpendicular to the central axis 121L. Therefore, in a case where the direction perpendicular to the central axis 121L of the LED light source 121B is to be illuminated with the light of the LED light source 121B, the light of the LED light source 121B is in many cases reflected and guided.
[0089] In the present embodiment, as in Fig. As shown in Figure 8, the light L in the region where the emission angle extends up to angle θ1 is directed forward with respect to the central axis 121L as transmission light to be transferred via the lens unit 101, specifically to the base region 102. Furthermore, in the region of angle θ2, which is larger than angle θ1 with respect to the central axis 121L, the light L is configured to illuminate a rear surface of the extension 81 or to enter the first reflective surface 103B. At the first reflective surface 103B, a portion of the light is disturbed by the non-uniform shape of the surface and is transferred forward in a state where the light intensity is adjusted. Additionally, the remaining light is reflected at the first reflective surface 103B by its parabolic shape. The reflected light enters the second reflective surface 103C and is reflected by the stepped shape of this surface towards the outside in the direction of the vehicle's width, while being scattered from front to rear. It should be noted that the ambient light is captured by the third reflective surface 103D and directed to the side of a front surface of the lens unit 101. Thus, not only the extension area 103 but also the branching area 104 and similar areas are illuminated.
[0090] Therefore, the extension area 103 and similar parts can be illuminated on a substantially lateral side with respect to the LED light source 121B, and the entirety of the lens unit 101, which has a y-shape, can be illuminated. Therefore, as in Fig. 1 and Fig.Figure 2 shows good visibility in both the front and side views. The function of the LED light source 121B and the lens unit 101 as a position light can be easily demonstrated.
[0091] As described above, according to the present embodiment to which the present invention is applied, the headlight 51 is a lighting device comprising the LED light source 121B and the lens unit 101, which diffuses the light L emitted by the LED light source 121B, wherein the lens unit 101 comprises the first reflective surface 103B, which is arranged on a front side of the LED light source 121B, and a second reflective surface 103C, which is arranged on a rear side of the first reflective surface 103B, wherein the first reflective surface 103B reflects the light L of the LED light source 121B to the second reflective surface 103C, the second reflective surface 103C reflects the light L from the first reflective surface 103B to the outside of the vehicle body, and the first reflective surface 103B is transparent.According to this design, the first reflective surface 103B has transparency and partially transmits the light L from the LED light source 121B. Thus, the first reflective surface 103B appears as bright as the other parts of the lens unit 101 when viewed from the front or a side, and is designed to illuminate a wider area of the headlight 51 than in a case where the first reflective surface 103B has no transparency.
[0092] In the present embodiment, the first reflective surface 103B has a parabolic shape. According to this design, the light reflected by the first reflective surface 103B is simply and uniformly scattered at the second reflective surface 103C. Even the light scattered at one end of the second reflective surface 103C can appear luminous, similar to the other parts.
[0093] Furthermore, in the above design, an uneven surface treatment process can be carried out on surface 101A of the first reflective surface 103B.
[0094] According to this design, a reflection amount and a transmission amount of light L are controlled on the first reflective surface 103B in order to appear uniformly luminous as a whole.
[0095] Furthermore, in the present embodiment, the second reflective surface 103C has a stepped shape. According to this design, the light L reflected from the second reflective surface 103C is scattered and appears uniformly luminous as a whole.
[0096] Furthermore, in the above design, the light L reflected by the second reflective surface 103C is projected in a direction inclined forwards and backwards. According to this design, the headlight 51, i.e., the illumination, can also be seen from a side surface of the motorcycle 1.
[0097] Furthermore, in the above design, the lens unit 101, which has the first reflective surface 103B and the second reflective surface 103C, is integrally designed. According to this design, the design of the lens unit 101 is simple and the manufacturing efficiency of the headlight 51 is improved.
[0098] Furthermore, in the present embodiment, the first reflective surface 103B is the surface 101A of the lens 101. According to this design, the design of the lens unit 101 is simple and the manufacturing efficiency of the headlight 51 is improved.
[0099] Furthermore, in the present embodiment, the first reflective surface 103B is located in a position that is recessed from the perimeter of the surface 101A of the lens unit 101. According to this design, the first reflective surface 103B can be made inconspicuous.
[0100] Furthermore, in the present embodiment, the first reflective surface 103B has a rectangular shape, and its longitudinal side is arranged along the side of the lens unit 101. According to this design, the first reflective surface 103B can be inconspicuous.
[0101] The embodiment described above is only one embodiment of the present invention and can optionally be modified and applied within a range that does not deviate from the quintessence of the present invention.
[0102] The present invention is not only applicable to motorcycle 1, but is also applicable to other saddle-seat vehicles besides motorcycle 1. It should be emphasized that saddle-seat vehicles include all vehicles in which one sits astride a vehicle body, and are vehicles that include not only motorcycles (including motorized bicycles), but also three-wheeled vehicles and four-wheeled vehicles, which are to be categorized as an irregular ground vehicle (ATV).
