Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a control unit for receiving and processing radio signals in a vehicle.
[0002] Today, many vehicles are equipped to communicate with satellites, communication networks, traffic infrastructure, and / or other vehicles using radio waves, for example, via mobile communications, satellite communication, or WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network). V2X communication is gaining increasing importance. Also known as Vehicle-to-Everything Communication, Car2X Communication, or Car-to-X Communication, V2X communication enables the exchange of information and data between participants in the V2X communication network. Participants in V2X communication are primarily road users and traffic infrastructure.Communication between participants in V2X communication takes place via radio signals, which are exchanged between participants, for example, using ITS-G5 / DSRC (abbreviation for Dedicated Short Range Communication) or in a mobile network, for example via PC5 or Uu interfaces.
[0003] To communicate using radio waves, a vehicle requires a suitable transmitter, receiver, and / or combined transmitter / receiver unit, which includes an antenna for sending and / or receiving radio signals. Services such as mobile communications, satellite broadcasting, and Wi-Fi differ primarily in the radio frequencies they use and therefore require different antennas. To utilize several of these services, a vehicle also needs multiple antennas and sufficient space for the antennas and components for processing the radio signals received by the antennas.
[0004] The invention is based on the objective of providing a device for sending and / or receiving radio signals in a vehicle, which is improved in particular with regard to installation space.
[0005] The problem is solved according to the invention by a control unit with the features of claim 1 and a vehicle with the features of claim 15.
[0006] Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims.
[0007] The problem is solved according to the invention by a control unit for receiving and processing radio signals in a vehicle, the control unit comprising: - an electronic circuit board with elements for signal processing and - a housing with a top, a bottom and side surfaces, which encloses the electronic circuit board, wherein - the top of the housing has a first antenna circuit board in which at least one antenna surface of an antenna is structured.
[0008] According to the invention, at least one antenna is integrated into a vehicle control unit designed for processing radio signals. Integrating the antenna into the control unit allows for a space-saving and cost-effective design of both the control unit and the antenna, since the control unit and the antenna are not designed as separate assemblies. Furthermore, this antenna is integrated into a printed circuit board (first antenna circuit board) that is incorporated into the top surface of the control unit housing. Positioning the antenna on the top surface of the housing improves the reception of radio waves compared to positioning the antenna inside the housing or on the underside or side surface of the housing, particularly when the top surface of the housing is located, for example, beneath the roof of the vehicle, because the radio waves received by the antenna are then less attenuated or disrupted by the housing.
[0009] In one embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, the top of the housing is formed completely or partially by the first antenna circuit board. Partially means that a portion of the top of the housing is formed by the first antenna circuit board and the remaining portion of the top is formed by the housing material.
[0010] The circuit board not only supports the metallic antenna surface but also forms part of the upper section of the control unit's housing. Furthermore, structuring the antenna on a circuit board allows for easy contacting of the antenna via the board.
[0011] In a further embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, the first antenna circuit board is formed into a recess or indentation on the top of the housing. By forming the first antenna circuit board into a recess or indentation on the top of the housing, the first antenna circuit board can be connected to the housing during its manufacture, thus eliminating the need for separate assembly of the first antenna circuit board during the production of the control unit.
[0012] In a further embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, the first antenna circuit board has contact surfaces arranged on its inner surface. The inner surface of the first antenna circuit board is defined as the side of the antenna circuit board facing the interior of the housing, i.e., the space enclosed by the housing. The arrangement of the contact surfaces on the inner surface of the first antenna circuit board facilitates easy connection of the contact surfaces to the electronic circuit board, since the latter is located inside the housing.
[0013] In a further embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, each contact surface arranged on the inside of the first antenna circuit board is connected to the electronic circuit board via a flexible electrical connection. For example, at least one of the flexible electrical connections has a spring contact or an elastic contact element. Connecting a contact surface and the electronic circuit board via a flexible electrical connection advantageously allows for the compensation of slight displacements of the contact surface and the electronic circuit board relative to each other, for example, due to thermal expansion and contraction. Moreover, the flexibility of the connection facilitates the joining of the contact surface and the electronic circuit board, since precise positioning of the contact surface and the electronic circuit board relative to each other is not required for joining.
[0014] In a further embodiment of the control device according to the invention, the first antenna circuit board has a rigid area on the top side of the housing with at least one antenna and a flexible area with conductor tracks for connecting the antenna to the electronic circuit board. This embodiment of the control device according to the invention is particularly advantageous if the first antenna circuit board has several antenna areas, because then all antenna areas can be connected to the electronic circuit board via the flexible area of the first antenna circuit board, so that no separate electrical connections are required for the individual antenna areas. The use of a flexible area of the first antenna circuit board for this purpose also has the advantages of flexible electrical connections already mentioned above.
[0015] In a further embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, a side surface of the housing has a second antenna circuit board in which at least one antenna surface of an antenna is integrated. In this embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, a side surface of the control unit is used to integrate a further antenna into the housing. The antenna surface of the second antenna circuit board on a side surface of the control unit is vertically oriented and is particularly suitable for radio connections into the vehicle interior, such as WiFi, Bluetooth or Ultra Wideband.
[0016] In a further embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, the second antenna circuit board has a rigid area on a side surface of the housing with at least one antenna and a flexible area with conductor tracks for connecting the antenna to the electronic circuit board. This embodiment of the control unit according to the invention is analogous to the embodiment above, in which the first antenna circuit board has a rigid and a flexible area. Therefore, the advantages of this embodiment are also analogous to those mentioned above.
[0017] In a further embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, the first antenna circuit board has: - a first rigid area on the top of the housing with at least one antenna, - a second rigid area on a side surface of the housing with at least one antenna, - a first flexible area with conductor tracks between the first and second rigid area and - a second flexible area with conductor tracks for connecting the antennas to the electronic circuit board.
[0018] This embodiment of the control unit according to the invention combines the aforementioned embodiments with a first antenna circuit board and a second antenna circuit board, each with a rigid and a flexible area. The functions of the rigid areas of these circuit boards are performed by the first and second rigid areas of the first antenna circuit board. In contrast to an embodiment with a first and a second antenna circuit board, each having a flexible area connected to the electronic circuit board, the rigid areas of the first antenna circuit board are connected by a first flexible area of the first antenna circuit board. This allows the overall length of the flexible areas to be reduced, and only one flexible area needs to be connected to the electronic circuit board.
[0019] In a further embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, the outer surface of the first or second antenna circuit board has an electrically insulating coating. For example, the coating of the outer surface of the first or second antenna circuit board is a layer of paint, an adhesive film, or an adhesive label. The coating protects the outer surface of the first or second antenna circuit board, for example, from oxidation or damage.
[0020] Another embodiment of the control unit according to the invention has a third antenna circuit board, which has at least one antenna surface and is arranged on the underside of the housing. In this embodiment of the control unit according to the invention, the underside of the housing is used to arrange at least one further antenna on the housing of the control unit. The antenna surface of the third antenna circuit board on a side surface of the control unit is vertically oriented and is particularly suitable for radio connections into the vehicle interior, such as WiFi, Bluetooth or Ultra Wideband.
[0021] The invention is further solved by a vehicle with a control unit according to the invention, which is arranged close to a roof surface of the vehicle, such that the upper side of the control unit housing faces the roof surface. The advantages of a vehicle according to the invention result from the advantages of a control unit according to the invention mentioned above.
