Electrical contact element with semiconductor switch

Abstract

The invention relates to an electrical contact element (10) designed for contact with a mating electrical contact element. It comprises a contact housing (12) with an externally contactable contact surface, a semiconductor switch (14) with at least two semiconductor materials (16, 18, 20) distinguishable by their doping, which is at least partially arranged in the contact housing (12), and a connection area (22) for electrical connection with an electrical conductor (24). The semiconductor switch (14) is arranged and connected such that an electrical connection between the contact housing (12) and the connection area (22) can be established by means of a control signal. The invention further relates to a connector, in particular a modular connector, a cable branch, and a method for using the contact element in a connector.
