Description

Technical area

[0001] The present invention relates to a display control apparatus and a display device provided on a vehicle such as an automobile, etc., and a display control method. Technical background

[0002] A technique that operates in conjunction with an automatic driving system installed in a vehicle equipped with an automatic driving function and in which change information of a driving assistance level is displayed (presented) to a driver is disclosed in the following Patent Documents 1 and 2.

[0003] Patent Document 1 discloses that a projector (illumination part) is provided in a vehicle, and local illumination is performed on a circular rim which is the outer peripheral portion of a steering wheel, and at the same time, when the driving mode of the vehicle is switched from an automatic driving mode to a manual driving mode, the illumination position is moved to approach the driver's hand grasping the rim, and further, when switching from an automatic driving mode to a manual driving mode, the illumination position is moved to move away from the driver's hand (e.g., paragraphs

[0047] ,

[0050] , Fig. 1, Fig. 3, Fig. 4).

[0004] In Patent Document 2, a first lighting unit including a light bar (light band) such as an LED is provided on the upper half of a circular rim, which is the outer peripheral part of a steering wheel. Furthermore, a narrow and long second lighting unit is provided at a position below a windshield of an instrument panel positioned in front of the steering wheel. The respective first and second lighting units are actually separated in the front-rear direction, but from the driver's perspective, the respective first and second lighting units are coupled and perceived as a single common lighting unit.During the transition from automatic driving to manual driving, a moving light is generated which moves in such a way that it is directed from the first lighting unit to the second lighting unit, and during the transition from manual driving to automatic driving, a moving light is generated which moves in such a way that it is directed from the second lighting unit to the first lighting unit (e.g. paragraphs

[0035] ,

[0038] ,

[0042] , . Fig. 2). State of the art documentsPatent documents Patent Document 1: JP 2019-142271 A Patent Document 2: JP 6244460 B2 Summary of the inventionProblem to be solved by the invention

[0005] For example, in Patent Document 1, an icon of a substantially triangular light is displayed on a rim of a steering wheel, and this light icon is moved, but the size of this light icon is quite small compared to the entirety of the steering wheel.

[0006] Furthermore, the path by which the light symbol is moved to approach and move away from the driver's hand is limited to the circumference of the upper half of the rim.

[0007] Therefore, it may be difficult for the driver, while paying attention to the front, to detect the slight movement of this small symbol of the light and, based on the direction of this movement, to determine which way the drive mode has changed. Therefore, there is room for improvement.

[0008] Furthermore, in Patent Document 2, a narrow and long light path is formed using the first and second illumination units, and therefore the path of the moving light may become longer.

[0009] However, the first lighting unit is provided on the edge of the steering wheel and the second lighting unit is provided on the dashboard, which is positioned in front of the steering wheel, with the respective units being spatially separated.

[0010] Therefore, the possibility that the driver may experience a strange feeling when switching between units when the light is moved from the first unit to the second unit, and the light from the second unit to the first unit, cannot be denied. Furthermore, the light's travel path is quite long, so it cannot be denied that moving the light takes time. This is impractical from the perspective of quickly communicating the change in speed to the driver. Therefore, there is room for improvement.

[0011] An object of the present invention is to realize a display in which the driver can intuitively recognize the change content without a strange feeling, for example, during a change of the driving mode.

[0012] Other objects of the present invention should be apparent to those skilled in the art by referring to the embodiments and optimal embodiments shown below by way of example and to the accompanying drawings. Means of solving the task

[0013] In the following, embodiments according to the present invention are shown by way of example for easy understanding of the overview of the present invention.

[0014] In a first embodiment, a display control device is one which, in a vehicle provided with driving support functions, controls a lighting part which can form a display by a light on a steering wheel provided with a central part, an outer edge part and a coupling part coupled to the central part and the outer edge part, wherein a control part which controls a staging by means of a first display element formed on the central part of the steering wheel, a second display element formed on the coupling part and a third display element formed on the outer edge part, wherein the control part in a case where a change in a driving assistance level took place, by staging the first, second and third display element of the steering wheel for a driver of the vehicle at least one of a first sensory perception in which the driving responsibility of the vehicle moves from a front part of the vehicle that is further forward than the steering wheel towards the steering wheel, and a second sensory perception in which the driving responsibility of the vehicle moves from the steering wheel towards the front of the vehicle, generates and presents change information of the driving assistance level.

[0015] In the first embodiment, the steering wheel is constructed by a center part, an outer edge part, and a coupling part coupled to the center part and the outer edge part, utilizing the fact that it has a two-dimensional spread as seen from the driver, and using the above respective parts as a display area of the display elements (patterns or characters, etc.).

[0016] Furthermore, the outer contour shape of the steering wheel is generally a symmetrical shape with left-right proportions. Using this, it is possible to create a display that presents the driver with a sensory perception of expanding waves, or a sensory perception in which the expanding waves, in contrast, diminish toward the center of the circle.

[0017] This is an example, but assuming three concentric circles of a small circle (small circle), a medium circle (medium circle), and a large circle (large circle) sharing the center, if the small circle is displayed at the center part, a part of the medium circle is displayed at the coupling part, and the large circle is displayed on the outer edge part which has a ring shape, it is also possible to form a proportionate wave-like pattern spreading from the center to the outside (pattern that makes a sense of two-dimensional spreading).

[0018] Here, by staging the above respective patterns (e.g., a display method designed to create a predetermined effect), the driver, for example, is allowed to perceive an image with a sense of depth (three-dimensionality), and further, this image can be given movement through the above staging effect.

[0019] Furthermore, the steering wheel can be understood as a structure in which the front part (tip part) of the vehicle and the driver are spatially separated (divided).

[0020] Therefore, for example, the driver is allowed to perceive a three-dimensional image and is given a perception that is directed (moved) from a section (front part) of the vehicle that is further forward than the steering wheel to the steering wheel, which can generate in the driver a sensory perception (first sensory perception) as if the subject of driving responsibility has moved (passed) from the vehicle to the driver himself. Furthermore, by staging the display (especially a staging that allows perception of movement), a sensory perception (second sensory perception) can be generated as if it has moved (passed) from the steering wheel to the front part of the vehicle.

[0021] Therefore, during the change of the driving assistance level (also referred to as automatic driving level, driving mode, etc.), the staging is performed by the above display elements, allowing the driver to intuitively recognize the change content without any strange feeling. The change content is intuitively understood without the driver having to follow the movement of the display elements with their eyes and confirm and understand their movement direction, as is the case before, thus achieving instantaneous understanding. Therefore, the time required for the driver to understand that the driving mode has been changed can be shortened, which also contributes to safe driving.

[0022] It may also happen that, among the center part, the coupling part, and the outer edge part of the steering wheel, for example, the coupling part is not used as the area where the display elements are formed. However, in this case, it is conceivable that a staging with regard to a display in which no display elements are formed on the coupling part is performed. Therefore, such an example can also be included within the technical scope of the present invention.

[0023] In a second embodiment subordinate to the first embodiment, when the steering wheel viewed from the driver is regarded as a virtual plane having a two-dimensional extension in an actual space, with this plane as a boundary, a virtual first responsibility area is set on the side of a front part of the vehicle and a virtual second responsibility area is set on the driver's side, wherein the control unit creates the first sensory perception in the driver, allowing him to recognize a transition from the first area of responsibility to the second area of responsibility, and creates a second sensory perception in the driver, allowing him to recognize a transition from the second area of responsibility to the first area of responsibility.

[0024] In the second embodiment, the steering wheel viewed from the driver is regarded as a single virtual plane having a two-dimensional extension in an actual space, and the virtual first responsibility area and the second responsibility area are set in front of and behind this plane.

[0025] For example, the explanatory instructions for a display device for a vehicle provide an overview of the above first and second areas of responsibility, whereby the driver who has read these learns and internalizes the overview of the areas of responsibility.

[0026] Therefore, when the above first and second sensory perceptions are generated while the vehicle is driving, this learning instantly recalls the overview of the responsibility areas, and it can be instantly recognized (understood) that the responsibility areas have moved. Therefore, the driver can quickly, clearly, and with certainty understand the change in the driving assistance level.

[0027] In a third embodiment, which is subordinate to the first or second embodiment, generates the control part, when the driving assistance is reduced, the driver’s first sensory perception and, When the driving assistance is extended, it creates the second sensory perception in the driver.

[0028] According to the third embodiment, the driver can be informed with certainty that the driving assistance has been reduced or increased.

[0029] In other words, reducing the driving assistance means lowering the automatic driving level, and increasing the driving assistance means increasing the automatic driving level.

[0030] In a case where the driving subject of the vehicle changes (moves) from the vehicle to the driver by changing the automatic drive level, as well as in a case where it changes (moves) from the driver to the vehicle, it is sometimes necessary for the driver to understand this change content quickly and with certainty.

[0031] According to the present invention, even if a change in the driving subject has occurred, it can be communicated instantly and with certainty who is responsible for operating the vehicle. Therefore, the driver can maintain a sense of security while driving.

[0032] In a fourth embodiment, which is subordinate to one of the first to third embodiments, represents the control unit, when a staging is carried out by the first, second and third display element of the steering wheel, the respective first, second and third display elements using the perspective in such a way that a single image perceived by the driver on the basis of the respective first, second and third display elements becomes a three-dimensional image with a sense of depth, and at the same time it displays the respective first, second and third display elements with a time difference or generates a change in the display state of the respective first, second and third display elements with a time difference and makes the driver feel a movement.

[0033] In the fourth embodiment, the staging, which uses perspective and dynamic representation, achieves a visual effect as shown in the first to third embodiments.

[0034] When the respective first, second, and third display elements are regarded as constituent elements of a single image, the respective display elements (respective constituent elements of a single image) are displayed using the perspective, thereby allowing the driver to perceive this single image as a three-dimensional image with a sense of depth.

[0035] Furthermore, the display time of the respective first, second and third display elements is shifted on a time axis, which can make the driver feel that there is movement.

[0036] The respective first, second and third displays themselves are displayed simultaneously on a time axis, but also by generating the changes that occur in the respective displays (e.g. display state in which the luminosity or brightness level increases instantly) with a time difference, the driver can be given the perception that there is movement.

[0037] Even in a case where the display timing of each of the first, second, and third display elements is shifted on the time axis, as the timing difference decreases, the driver may perceive (recognize) a single image due to an afterimage effect (an effect in which, when the visual discerner has seen a light or image after that light or image has gone out, it appears as if the light or image seen so far remains).

[0038] In a fifth embodiment, which is subordinate to one of the first to third embodiments, represents the control unit, when a staging is carried out by the first, second and third display element of the steering wheel, the respective first, second and third display elements using the perspective in such a way that a single image perceived by the driver on the basis of the respective first, second and third display elements becomes a three-dimensional image with a sense of depth, and at the same time It shows when the driver has the first sensory perception, with a time difference, the first, second and third display elements in sequence and allows the driver to perceive a movement directed from the depth side to the front side, or it displays the first, second and third display elements simultaneously and changes the display status of the first, second and third display elements in sequence with a time difference and allows the driver to perceive a movement directed from the depth side to the front side, and, when the driver’s second sense perception is generated, it displays the third, second and first display elements in sequence with a time difference and allows the driver to perceive a movement directed from the front side to the depth side, or It can display the first, second and third display elements simultaneously and change the display state of the third, second and first display elements in sequence with a time difference and make the driver feel a movement directed from the front side to the depth side.

[0039] In the fifth embodiment, the presentation shown in the fourth embodiment is presented in even greater detail with regard to the display elements. In the fifth embodiment, the presentation, which uses perspective and a dynamic display, also achieves a visual effect similar to that shown in the first to third embodiments.

[0040] The display order of the respective first, second, and third display elements or the order in the case where the display state is changed is controlled, whereby the first sense perception and the second sense perception can be effectively generated.

[0041] In a sixth embodiment subordinate to the fifth embodiment, the control part enlarges, when the respective first, second and third display elements are displayed using the perspective, for the first, second and third display elements in sequence, the size of this display element, thereby creating a perspective feeling through the linear perspective, or it enlarges the size of the first, second and third display elements in sequence, thereby creating a first perspective feeling through the linear perspective, and the respective first, second and third display elements are represented by the aerial perspective and can create a second perspective feeling in which the orientation is consistent with the first perspective feeling.

[0042] In the sixth embodiment, the linear perspective or the joint application of the linear perspective and the aerial perspective allows the driver to perceive a three-dimensional image with a sense of depth.

[0043] Here, "perspective" is a method that conveys a visual sense of perspective. "Linear perspective" is a representational technique that uses a line drawing to depict a perspective that appears small as it moves away from a front object into the distance.

[0044] Furthermore, "aerial perspective" is originally "a perspective representation method that uses the fact that light entering the eyes is actually influenced by the air (atmosphere), and thus a greater amount of air is trapped between the viewpoint and the object the further away from the viewpoint, and that due to this influence it becomes more blue, the contours become unclear and it looks blurry", whereas ideally it is "a representation method that draws distant objects so that they blur dimly, thereby portraying a sense of perspective, and it is a representation method that also allows perspective using color or the condition of color (hue, outline, shading, etc.)".

[0045] As an example of using the aerial perspective, the luminosity or brightness of the first, second, and third display elements is increased in sequence, and the clarity is enhanced, which can be assumed to make the driver feel that the third display element is positioned close to him, the second display element is positioned farther away, and the first display element is positioned even farther away. This allows the driver to see an image with a three-dimensionality (a sense of depth).

[0046] In a seventh embodiment, which is subordinate to one of the first to sixth embodiments, the respective first and third display elements have a round or annular shape and the second display element is a line-shaped or band-shaped display piece formed on a part of the coupling part, or the respective first, second and third display elements comprise a separated pair of line-shaped or band-shaped display pieces, or the respective first, second and third display elements comprise a separated pair of line-shaped or band-shaped display pieces, and the respective display pieces are located on a virtual concentric circle around a point set at the center part of the steering wheel, being arranged on a virtual straight line intersecting the respective concentric circles through this point.

[0047] In the seventh embodiment, the shape of the respective indicator light (as well as its arrangement) is shown as an example.

[0048] For example, the respective display elements can display a pattern with the concentric circle (concentric ring) as a basis.

[0049] Furthermore, a pair of separated display pieces can be displayed in a line shape, a band shape such as a circular arc, etc., extending along the outer circumference of the respective concentric circle (concentric ring). When display pieces with a line shape, a band shape such as a circular arc, etc., are used, the change content of the driving assistance level and other useful information can be easily communicated to the driver.

[0050] For example, when the driving assistance is reduced and the manual driving mode has been entered, the area of the outer edge of the steering wheel gripped by the driver is displayed by this indicator, the display position of this indicator is changed, and this indicator can, for example, encourage the pressing of the brake pedal or the confirmation of the front.

[0051] Furthermore, when the automatic driving mode is switched, the position of the indicator is changed according to the automatic rotation of the steering wheel, which makes it easy for the driver to know that the automatic driving is carried out smoothly and can provide a sense of security.

[0052] Further, when these respective display pieces are displayed, on the respective concentric circles (concentric rings) and on the straight line that crosses through these circles with the respective circles (rings) (in other words, the straight line that constructs the diameter of the largest circle), each of the pair of display pieces is displayed (arranged), for example, while maintaining the left and right, etc., balance, whereby a left and right, etc., proportioned image can be displayed without any strange feeling.

[0053] In an eighth embodiment, which is subordinate to the fifth embodiment, the control part in a case where the driver’s first sensory perception was generated, at a display time of the third display element or after the third display element has been displayed, a clarification treatment in which the third display element is clarified, or it may, at a time of changing the display state of the third display element or after the display state of the third display element has been changed, perform a clarification treatment in which the third display element is clarified.

[0054] In the eighth aspect, the respective display elements are displayed with a time shift or the change of the display state of the respective display elements is generated with a time shift, whereby, when the driver is made to sense a movement from the depth side toward the front side (first sense perception), at a time when the third display element is displayed on the outer peripheral part of the steering wheel or after that time, a clarifying treatment is carried out with respect to this third display element.

[0055] The "clarification treatment" can be implemented, for example, by temporarily increasing the luminance or brightness of the third display element and temporarily flashing the third display element. In other words, the "clarification treatment" can also be referred to as "treatment in which the display state is temporarily changed and the conspicuousness is increased." The driver's gaze is directed to this display, thereby alerting the driver that a change in the driving assistance level has occurred, preventing oversight, and allowing the driver to recognize the change content of the driving assistance level with certainty.

[0056] Furthermore, when driving responsibility moves from the vehicle to the driver, the driver is clearly informed that driving responsibility is present and receives a pre-emptive preparation effect where he prepares to take the steering wheel (he has the readiness to do so in advance).

[0057] In a ninth embodiment, which is subordinate to the eighth embodiment, the control part increases during clarification treatment the luminosity and brightness level of the third display element temporarily or temporarily changes the colour or hue or colour saturation or, if the third display element is a separated pair of line-shaped or band-shaped display pieces, it extends the length of the display piece temporarily or, When the third indicator element is a separated pair of line-shaped or band-shaped indicator pieces, it can swing the indicator piece along the outer edge part of the steering wheel.

[0058] In the ninth embodiment, the clarification treatment is specifically exemplified. By temporarily changing the color, etc., of the third display element, temporarily changing its length, or position control in which the third display element is moved as if it were fluctuating, the conspicuousness can be temporarily increased.

[0059] In a tenth embodiment, which is subordinate to one of the first to ninth embodiments, shows the control unit on the outer edge of the steering wheel, a line-shaped or band-shaped indicator piece showing an area that the driver grasps with his left hand and his right hand, or it displays a line-shaped or band-shaped indicator on the outer edge of the steering wheel at a position corresponding to an action the driver should take next, or It moves a line-shaped or band-shaped indicator on the center part of the steering wheel or on the center part and the coupling part in a direction corresponding to the action the driver should take next, or it can move the line-shaped or band-shaped indicator according to the automatic rotation of the steering wheel by the automatic driving.

[0060] In the tenth embodiment, a case is shown in which other advantageous information (information other than the change information of the speed level) is displayed in connection with the notification of a change in the speed level.

[0061] For example, when the driving subject transitions from the vehicle to the driver, the line-shaped or band-shaped display piece is displayed at the left-right position of the outer edge part of the steering wheel in the middle of this transition or after the transition, whereby the gripping position of the steering wheel can be shown to the driver.

[0062] Furthermore, the display position of the linear or band-shaped indicator changes according to the next action the driver is expected to perform, allowing the driver to know in advance what should be done and be ready for it. For example, if an operation involving applying the brake is necessary, the linear or band-shaped indicator can be displayed on the lower side of the outer edge of the steering wheel.

[0063] Furthermore, the indicator (in a broader sense, a predetermined light pattern or light signal) on the center of the steering wheel or on the center and coupling parts is moved in a direction corresponding to the next action the driver is expected to take, allowing the driver to know in advance what should be done and be ready for it. For example, if attention is favored to the diagonal front, the indicator (in a broader sense, a light pattern or light signal) on the center part can be moved diagonally upward.

[0064] In an eleventh embodiment, which is subordinate to one of the first to tenth embodiments, shows the control unit a light signal on the central part of the steering wheel comprising at least one of letters, graphics and symbols showing information relating to the driving condition or situation or operations to be performed by the driver next, or It displays a light signal on the center part of the steering wheel, which includes at least one of letters, graphics and symbols that show information related to the driving condition or situation or operations that the driver should perform next, and can communicate the information by voice.

[0065] In the eleventh embodiment, a light signal is displayed on the center of the steering wheel, which can present beneficial information to the driver. This allows the driver to be shown information that is easy to see or understand.

[0066] Furthermore, voice guidance is used in conjunction, and the above-mentioned beneficial information can be transmitted to the driver through voice. This allows the information to be transmitted with even greater certainty. Furthermore, the driving situation, etc., can be recognized through sight and hearing, thus promoting understanding of the information.

[0067] In a twelfth embodiment, which is subordinate to one of the first to eleventh embodiments, can the control unit, Before the driver experiences the second sensory perception, perform a display treatment that increases the conspicuity on the outer edge of the steering wheel.

[0068] According to the twelfth aspect, when the expansion of the driving assistance level is transmitted to the driver, a prominent indication is displayed on the steering wheel in advance. For example, the driver can be instantly aware that a display indicating a change in the driving level has begun. Therefore, they can be prepared in advance. Therefore, the effect of reducing the strange feeling caused by the sudden start of the lighting display can be achieved.

[0069] In a thirteenth embodiment, which is subordinate to one of the first to twelfth embodiments, can the control unit, when a first circle or ring is displayed on the center of the steering wheel, a part of a second circle or ring is displayed on the coupling part, which is concentric with the first circle or ring, and a third circle or ring is displayed on the outer edge part, which is concentric with the first and second circle or ring, set the line width or bandwidth of the second circle or ring larger than the line width or bandwidth of the first and third circles or rings.

[0070] In the thirteenth embodiment, a strange feeling is likely to arise because the entirety of the circle or ring cannot be displayed at the coupling part of the steering wheel, and therefore, display control in which this strange feeling is suppressed is carried out.

[0071] For example, assume a case where the diameter of the third ring is gradually reduced and moved to the second ring and, furthermore, the diameter of the second ring is gradually reduced and moved to the first ring (however, it may also be a reverse movement).

[0072] In this case, if passing through the coupling part takes time, the period during which a strange feeling arises becomes long. Therefore, to shorten the transit time of the light band at the coupling part, the bandwidth of this light band is made larger (wider) than the bandwidth at the ring of the central part or the outer edge part. The coupling part is moved quickly and can be passed through in a short time. This can reduce the strange feeling.

[0073] In a fourteenth embodiment, a display device a display control device provided on a vehicle of any of the first to thirteenth embodiments and a lighting part provided on the vehicle that controls the light emission by the display control device.

[0074] According to the fourteenth aspect, a display device for a vehicle (concretely, for example, an in-vehicle projector) can be realized in which, during a change of the driving mode, the change content can be displayed to a driver in such a way that the driver can intuitively recognize it without any strange feeling.

[0075] In a fifteenth embodiment, which is subordinate to the fourteenth embodiment, the lighting part a projector that projects a light onto the steering wheel of the vehicle and provides illumination, or it comprises a projector that projects a light onto the steering wheel of the vehicle and provides illumination, as well as a light-emitting element provided on the steering wheel, or It has a light emitting element provided on the steering wheel.

[0076] In the fifteenth embodiment, a construction example of the lighting part is shown.

[0077] The lighting part may be a projector that projects a light and performs illumination, and may also have a structure comprising a projector and a light emitting element (at least one light emitting element) provided on the steering wheel, and further, it may also be an article constructed by only one light emitting element (a plurality of light emitting elements) provided on the steering wheel.

[0078] For example, a practical usage example can also be adopted in which only a projector is used at night, and in an environment where the intensity of external light is strong during the day, etc., the projector is applied together with a light-emitting element, or only the light-emitting element is used.

[0079] In a sixteenth embodiment, a display control method is one in which, in a vehicle provided with driving assistance functions, an indication is formed by a light on a steering wheel provided with a central part, an outer edge part and a coupling part coupled to the central part and the outer edge part, wherein in a case where a change in the driving assistance level has taken place, a staging is controlled by a first display element formed on the central part of the steering wheel, a second display element formed on the coupling part and a third display element formed on the outer edge part, whereby, for a driver of the vehicle, at least one of a first sensory perception in which the driving responsibility of the vehicle moves from a front part of the vehicle which is further forward than the steering wheel towards the steering wheel, and a second sensory perception in which the driving responsibility of the vehicle moves from the steering wheel toward the front of the vehicle, and change information of the driving assistance level is presented.

[0080] According to the sixteenth aspect, during the change of the driving assistance level, the staging is performed by the display elements, allowing the driver to intuitively recognize the change content without any strange feeling. The change content is intuitively understood without the driver having to follow the movement of the display elements with their eyes and confirm and understand their movement direction, as is the case before, thus achieving instantaneous understanding. Therefore, the time required for the driver to understand that the driving mode has been changed can be shortened. This also contributes to safe driving.

[0081] Further, when a computer program is used, as long as it is a computer system provided with a basic structure such as a processor or a memory, the above display control method can be realized simply and easily.

[0082] It should be readily understood by those skilled in the art that the embodiments shown by way of example may be further modified according to the present invention without departing from the spirit of the present invention. [ Fig. 20] Fig. 20 is a view showing a caution period in a case where the driving support level (automatic driving level) is changed. Embodiments of the invention

[0083] The optimal embodiment explained below is used to facilitate understanding of the present invention. Consequently, those skilled in the art should be aware that the present invention is not unduly limited by the embodiment explained below.

[0084] First, Fig. 19. Fig. Figure 19 is a view for explaining the driving assistance level (automatic driving level). The driving assistance level (automatic driving level) can be divided into levels "0" to "5" as shown. In levels "0" to "2", the driving subject is a human (driver). In other words, the driver has a heavier driving responsibility. Furthermore, in levels "3" to "5", the driving subject is the vehicle (vehicle system). In other words, the vehicle has a heavier driving responsibility.

[0085] In this specification, the increase in the driving assistance level (automatic driving level) is referred to as “expansion of the driving assistance level” and the decrease thereof is referred to as “decrease of the driving assistance level”.

[0086] Next, Fig. 20. Fig. 20 is a view showing an example of a cautionary period in a case where the driving support level (automatic driving level) is changed.

[0087] In an automatic speed level change period TM1 (time t1 to t2), the automatic speed level is changed. A period of time t2 to t3 immediately after is a period TM2 immediately after the automatic speed level change. A period of time t3 to t4 is a travel period TM3 through the level after the change. In each of the respective periods TM1 to TM3, it is preferable that information presentation to the driver be appropriately carried out by a light or the combined use of a light and voice. In this case, it is preferable that the driver can recognize (understand) the information without any strange feeling and promptly.

[0088] Next, Fig. 1. Fig. 1 is a view showing a structural example of a driving support system and a display device for a vehicle. Fig. 1, the width direction of the vehicle (left-right direction as seen from the driver) is regarded as the X direction, the height direction of the vehicle is regarded as the Y direction, and the forward direction as seen from the driver is regarded as the Z direction.

[0089] A driving support system (automatic driving system) 10 includes an information collecting part 12 that collects various information from an ECU, etc., an AI module 14, a speed control module 16, and a steering control module 18.

[0090] A display device (vehicle display device) 100 may be installed, for example, as an in-vehicle projector in a vehicle (ego vehicle) 1. In other words, the display device (vehicle display device) 100 may be referred to as a display system, a vehicle display system, an information presentation system, or a vehicle information presentation system. Hereinafter, it will be referred to as a "vehicle display device."

[0091] The display device 100 for a vehicle includes a display control device 102 having a function of controlling a display in the vehicle, a voice guide part 105, an operation detection part 108 that detects the operation of the driver or passenger through image processing, etc., a display device control part 110 that controls a display by a display device 122, 123 such as a liquid crystal display device, etc., provided on an instrument panel 120 of the vehicle 1, a projector (projection device) 112 that may be a constituent element of a lighting part, and a camera 114 for operation detection that detects the operation of the driver or passenger.

[0092] The display control device 102 is constructed, for example, by one or more processors. This processor operates according to a computer program stored in memory, thereby forming a control part 104 as a functional block.

[0093] When a computer program is used, as long as it is a computer system provided with a basic structure such as a processor or a memory, an effective display control method can be realized simply and easily.

[0094] For example, various information regarding the driving assistance level is supplied to the control part 104 from the AI module 14 of the vehicle assistance system (automatic driving system) 10. For example, when the driving assistance level is changed, the control part 104 of the display control device 102 is notified in advance that a change in the driving assistance level is taking place. This notification is supplied to the control part 104, for example, as change prediction information.

[0095] When this change prediction information is supplied to the control part 104, a display control processing (first display control processing) for notifying the change of the driving support level to the driver is executed.

[0096] The control part 104 controls the operation of the projector (projection device) 112, which is a structural element of the lighting part, projects an image onto a steering wheel (handlebar) 4 of the vehicle 1, and can display a display element having a two-dimensional spread. At the lower side of the Fig. 1 shows patterns P1 to P4 of a circle or ring in the form of a concentric circle.

[0097] However, in the coupling parts of the steering wheel 4 (spoke: reference numerals 9a, 9b, 9c of the Fig. 2 (B)) displayed pattern P3 only a part of a pattern of a circle or ring is displayed.

[0098] For every circle and ring, the outer contour is a circle, but for the ring, the line width is wide. The P3 pattern, when projecting a circle pattern, is a circular arc "line shape pattern," and when projecting a ring pattern, it is a circular arc "band shape pattern."

[0099] Further, a case where the “illumination part” is constructed by a single projector (projection device) 112, a case where it is constructed by the projector 112 and a light emitting part (having at least one light emitting element 116) provided on the steering wheel 4 of the vehicle 1, and a case where it is constructed by a single light emitting part (having a plurality of light emitting elements 116) provided on the steering wheel 4 can be adopted.

[0100] For example, a practical use example can also be adopted in which only one projector 112 is used at night, and in an environment where the intensity of external light is strong during the day, etc., the projector 112 is applied together with a light emitting part consisting of at least one light emitting element 116, or only one light emitting part consisting of a plurality of light emitting elements 116 is used.

[0101] In the following explanation, a case will be explained in which a projection image is displayed on the steering wheel 4 by the projector 112.

[0102] The projector 112 includes a light source for projection and an optical system (not shown). Furthermore, the control part 104 controls the operation of the voice guide part 105 and can output a voice (guide voice) via a loudspeaker 107.

[0103] The control part 104 outputs, for example, a guidance voice “Please grasp the handlebar” and can encourage the driver to grasp the steering wheel, while at the same time a grasping area on the steering wheel 4 can be indicated, for example, by a linear or band-shaped display piece (light strip) (cf. Fig. 9. This aspect will be mentioned later.)

[0104] Further, when the driver grips the steering wheel 4, the operation detection part 108 analyzes an image captured by the camera 114 for operation detection and detects this gripping operation, and the control part 104 stops the output of the guidance voice or the display of the display piece based on this detection information.

[0105] Furthermore, on the middle part of the steering wheel 4 (reference number 7 of the Fig. 2 (B)) a recess 6 with a circular outer contour (in Fig. 1, a circle showing an outer contour is provided, shown by a dashed line). This circular recess 6 can be used as a central display area (reference symbol D1 of the Fig. 2 (B)), which uses a light sign in which letters, graphics and markings, etc. are the structural elements.

[0106] Further, the operation detecting part 108 detects a step (edge) of this circular recess 6 by image analysis, thereby obtaining an effect of making it easier, etc., to specify the position of the center of the concentric circle with certainty.

[0107] Furthermore, the respective ring-shaped patterns P1 to P4 formed on the steering wheel 4 are preferentially drawn by the perspective (including linear perspective and aerial perspective), and thereby the driver can feel a three-dimensional image with a sense of depth (see FIG. Fig. 4 (A), (B), Fig. 5: the details will be mentioned later).

[0108] Furthermore, by a dynamic display control in which the respective patterns P1 to P4 are displayed with a time difference, etc., the driver can be made to feel a movement in which they direct themselves from the front of the vehicle 1 to the steering wheel 4 or a movement in which they direct themselves from the steering wheel 4 to the front of the vehicle 1 (this aspect will be mentioned later).

[0109] Next, Fig. 2. Fig. 2 (A) is a view showing an arrangement example in a vehicle of a projection device constituting a lighting part, Fig. Fig. 2 (B) is a front view of a steering wheel, and Fig. 2 (C) is a view showing a ring-shaped pattern (first and third display elements) and a band-shaped pattern (second display element) projected onto the steering wheel.

[0110] In Fig. 2 sections that start with Fig. 1 are provided with the same reference numerals. This aspect is the same in the following figures. Furthermore, Fig. 2 (C) is connected to the lower side of the Fig. 1 shown figure.

[0111] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 2 (A), the projector 112 is installed near the ceiling of the vehicle 1. A driver 3 sits on a seat 132 and faces the front surface. The projector 112 projects an image onto a surface on the driver 3 side of the steering wheel 4 and can form a display by light.

[0112] As in Fig. As shown in Figure 2 (B), the steering wheel 4 is constructed by a center portion (hub or boss) 7, an outer peripheral portion (rim) 5, and coupling portions 9a, 9b, 9c coupled to the center portion 7 and the outer peripheral portion 5, and has a structure having a two-dimensional spread as viewed from the driver 3. The above respective portions are used as the display area of the display elements (patterns or characters), thereby enabling display of an image having a two-dimensional spread.

[0113] Furthermore, the outer contour shape of the steering wheel 4 is generally a left-right proportioned symmetrical shape (left-right symmetry). Using this, a display staging can be realized in which the driver 3 is given a sensory perception in which waves propagate, or in which the propagated waves, in contrast, diminish toward the center of the circle.

[0114] This is an example, but assuming three concentric circles of a small circle (small circle), a medium circle (medium circle), and a large circle (large circle) sharing the center, if the small circle is displayed at the center part, the medium circle is displayed at the coupling part, and the large circle is displayed on the outer edge part, which has a ring shape, it is also possible to form a proportionate wave-like pattern spreading from the center to the outside (pattern that makes a sense of two-dimensional spreading) (cf. Fig. 2 (C)).

[0115] Here, by staging the above respective patterns (e.g., a display method designed to create a predetermined effect), the driver can, for example, perceive an image with a sense of depth (three-dimensionality), and furthermore, this image can be imparted with movement through the above staging effect. In other words, a dynamic display can make the driver 3 feel a movement directed in a predetermined direction.

[0116] This aspect is explained in detail. Fig. 3. Fig. 3 (A) to (E) are views showing an example in which a sense perception (first sense perception) is generated in which the driving responsibility has been transferred from the vehicle to a driver, and Fig. 3 (F) to (J) are views showing an example in which a sensory perception (second sensory perception) is generated in which the driving responsibility has been transferred from the driver to the vehicle.

[0117] As explained above, the control part 104 of the display control device 102 controls an illumination part (here, the projector 112) that can form a display on the steering wheel 4 provided with the center part 7, the outer edge part 5, and the coupling parts 9a to 9c by a light, and controls staging of a display by a light.

[0118] For example, a staging is carried out by a first display element (pattern P1, P2 of the Fig. 3 (A), (B)), a second display element formed on the coupling parts 9a to 9c (pattern P3 of Fig. 3 (C)) and a third display element formed on the outer edge part 5 (pattern P5 of Fig. 3 (D)).

[0119] The respective display elements P1 to P4 are displayed using the perspective, which allows the driver 3 to experience a three-dimensional image with a sense of depth. Furthermore, Fig. 3 (A) to Fig. 3 (D) are displayed in sequence with a time difference, whereby the driver 3 is shown a pattern as shown by an arrow A1 of the Fig. 3 (E) shown movement, which is directed from the front part (tip part) of the vehicle 1 to the steering wheel 4, can be felt.

[0120] In the example of Fig. 3 (A) to (D) shows an example in which the respective patterns P1 to P4 are displayed with a time difference, but this is not limited to this. For example, by displaying the respective patterns P1 to P4 simultaneously, first increasing the luminance or brightness of pattern P1 instantaneously, and then sequentially generating the same change in the display state for patterns P2, P3, and P4 with a time difference, the driver can also experience the same sensory perception of movement.

[0121] Even in a case where the display timing of the respective display elements is shifted on the time axis, if the timing difference is small, the driver can perceive (recognize) a single image due to an afterimage effect (an effect in which, when the visually discerning person has seen a light or an image after that light or image has gone out, it appears as if the light or image seen so far remains).

[0122] In a case where the driving support level is reduced and the driving subject changes from the vehicle to the driver, for example, a staging of a display by a light as in Fig. 3 (A) to (D), whereby the first sensory perception in which the driving responsibility of the vehicle 1 moves from a front part of the vehicle 1, which is further forward than the steering wheel 4, towards the steering wheel 4 (by the arrow A1 of the Fig. 2 (E) shown motion sensory perception), is generated in driver 3.

[0123] Furthermore, the steering wheel 4 can be grasped as a structure in which the front part (tip part) of the vehicle 1 and the driver 3 are spatially separated (divided).

[0124] Here, as in Fig. 2 (E), a single virtual plane shown by a dashed line in the figure, which touches the surface of the steering wheel 4 and has a two-dimensional extension in an actual space, is assumed, and as the boundary of this plane, a virtual first responsibility area (vehicle responsibility area) AR1 is set on the front part side of the vehicle 1 and a virtual second responsibility area (driver responsibility area) AR2 is set on the driver 3 side.

[0125] For example, the explanatory instructions for a display device for a vehicle provide an overview of the above first and second areas of responsibility, whereby the driver who has read these learns and internalizes the overview of the areas of responsibility.

[0126] Therefore, when the above first sensory perception is generated during the driving of vehicle 1, this learning instantly recalls the overview of the responsibility areas, and it can be instantly recognized (understood) that a movement has occurred from the first responsibility area AR1 to the second responsibility area AR2. Therefore, driver 3 can quickly, clearly, and with certainty understand the reduction in the driving assistance level.

[0127] In a case where the driving support level is extended and the driving subject transitions from the driver to the vehicle, a staging is carried out in which the Fig. 3 (F) to (I) the display patterns P4 to P1 are shown in sequence. This allows a display pattern as shown by an arrow A2 of the Fig. 3 (J) shown sensory perception (second sensory perception) of a movement in which they move from the steering wheel 4 to the front part of the vehicle 1, are generated in the driver 3.

[0128] In this case, driver 3 can instantly recognize the transition from the second area of responsibility AR2 to the first area of responsibility AR1.

[0129] In this way, during the change of the driving assistance level (in other words, may be referred to as automatic driving level, driving mode, etc.), display control (staging by display elements) is carried out in which the driver is given at least one of a first sensory perception directed from the depth side to the front side as seen from the driver and a second sensory perception directed from the front side to the depth side, whereby the driver can intuitively recognize this change content without any strange feeling.

[0130] The change content is intuitively understood without the driver having to follow the movement of the display elements with their eyes and confirm and understand their movement direction, as was previously the case, thus achieving instantaneous understanding. Therefore, the time required for the driver to understand that the driving mode has been changed can be shortened. This also contributes to safe driving.

[0131] It may also happen that, among the center part 7, the coupling parts 9a to 9c, and the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4, for example, the coupling parts 9a to 9c are not used as the area in which the display elements are formed. However, in this case, it is conceivable that a staging with regard to a display in which no display elements are formed on the coupling parts 9 to 9c is performed. Therefore, such an example can also be included within the technical scope of the present invention.

[0132] Next, Fig. 4. Fig. 4 (A) and (B) are views showing an example in which the respective first to third display elements are displayed using the perspective to let the driver perceive an image with a sense of depth (three-dimensionality).

[0133] A staging is explained in which the driver 3 is allowed to perceive a three-dimensional image with a sense of depth through the linear perspective or through the joint application of the linear perspective and the aerial perspective.

[0134] Here, "perspective" is a method that conveys a visual sense of perspective. "Linear perspective" is a representational technique that uses a line drawing to depict a perspective that appears small as it moves away from a front object into the distance.

[0135] Furthermore, "aerial perspective" is originally "a perspective representation method that uses the fact that light entering the eyes is actually influenced by the air (atmosphere), and thus a greater amount of air is trapped between the viewpoint and the object the further away from the viewpoint, and that due to this influence it becomes more blue, the contours become unclear and it looks blurry", whereas ideally it is "a representation method that draws distant objects so that they blur dimly, thereby portraying a sense of perspective, and it is a representation method that also allows perspective using color or the condition of color (hue, outline, shading, etc.)".

[0136] As an example of using the aerial perspective, the luminosity or brightness of the first, second, and third display elements is increased in sequence, and the clarity is enhanced, which can be assumed to make the driver feel that the third display element is positioned close to him, the second display element is positioned farther away, and the first display element is positioned even farther away. This allows the driver to see an image with a three-dimensionality (a sense of depth).

[0137] In the example of Fig. 4 (A) the ring-shaped patterns P1 to P4 are not colored. However, in Fig. 4 (A) sequentially expands the size of the ring-shaped patterns P1 to P4, so it can be said that the respective ring-shaped patterns P1 to P4 are displayed using a linear perspective method. Therefore, the driver can experience a three-dimensional image (three-dimensional image).

[0138] Furthermore, as in the previous Fig. 3 (A) to (D) or the Fig. 3 (F) to (I), a dynamic display control with a time difference in the driver 3 a movement sensory perception (first and second sensory perception) as in the arrow AR1 of the Fig. 3 (E) or arrow A2 of the Fig. 3 (J) can be generated.

[0139] In the example of Fig. 4 (B), for example, the respective ring-shaped patterns P1 to P4 are colored blue. However, the shading is different. For patterns P1 to P4, the focus is increased sequentially, making pattern P1 appear blurry to driver 3, while for patterns P2 to P4, the focus appears to be increased sequentially. Therefore, driver 3 can experience an even clearer three-dimensional image.

[0140] Furthermore, as in the previous Fig. 3 (A) to (D) or the Fig. 3 (F) to (I), a dynamic display control with a time difference for driver 3 even more clearly creates a motion sensory perception (first and second sensory perception) as in the arrow AR1 of the Fig. 3 (E) or arrow A2 of the Fig. 3 (J) can be generated.

[0141] Next, Fig. 5. Fig. 5 is a view showing another example in which the respective first to third display elements are displayed using perspective to let the driver perceive an image with a sense of depth (three-dimensionality).

[0142] In the example of Fig. 5, the respective ring-shaped patterns P1 to P4 are colored, with different colors. For the patterns perceived from the distance as seen by the driver 3, cool colors (contracting colors) such as light blue and blue are used, and for the patterns perceived close up, warm colors (expanding colors) such as red and yellow are used. For example, pattern P1 is light blue, pattern P2 is blue, pattern P3 is yellow, and pattern P4 is red, which can create an even clearer sense of depth.

[0143] Next, Fig. 6. Fig. 6 (A) is a view showing a display example of a divided pair of line-shaped or band-shaped patterns (first, second and third display elements) displayed on the steering wheel, and Fig. 6 (B) is a view showing an example in which the respective first to third display elements shown in Fig. 6 (A) are presented using perspective to let the driver perceive an image with a sense of depth (three-dimensionality).

[0144] In the example of Fig. 6 (A), the display element is constructed by a separated pair of line-shaped or band-shaped display pieces (light strips).

[0145] A pair of circular-arc-shaped indicator pieces PL1 and PR1, and PL2 and PR2, displayed separately on the left and right sides, constitute a first indicator element formed on the center portion 7 of the steering wheel 4. A pair of indicator pieces PL3 and PR3 constitute a second indicator element formed on the left and right coupling portions 9a, 9b of the steering wheel 4. Furthermore, a pair of indicator pieces PL4 and PR4 constitute a third indicator element formed on the outer edge portion 5 of the steering wheel 4.

[0146] Furthermore, it is preferred that the respective display pieces (PL1 to PL4, PR1 to PL4) are located on a virtual concentric circle (cf. the patterns P1 to P4 in the Fig. 3 (A) to (D)) around a point which is set at the central part 7 of the steering wheel 4 (reference symbol U of the Fig. 6 (A)), being located on a virtual straight line (reference symbol Q of the Fig. 6 (A)), which intersects with the respective concentric circles through this point U.

[0147] When a pair of separated display pieces having a line shape, a band shape such as a circular arc, etc., running along the outer circumference of the respective concentric circle (concentric ring) are displayed, the change content of the driving assistance level and, in addition, other useful information can be easily transmitted to the driver.

[0148] For example, when the driving assistance has been reduced and the manual driving mode has occurred, the area of the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4 gripped by the driver 3 is displayed by this indicator piece, the display position of this indicator piece is changed, and, for example, the depression of the brake pedal or the confirmation of the front can be promoted by this indicator piece.

[0149] Furthermore, when the automatic driving mode is switched, the position of the indicator is changed according to the automatic rotation of the steering wheel, which makes it easy for the driver to know that the automatic driving is carried out smoothly and can provide a sense of security.

[0150] Further, when these respective display pieces are displayed, on the individual concentric circles (concentric rings) and on the straight line that crosses through these circles with the respective circles (rings) (in other words, the straight line that constructs the largest circle), each of the pair of display pieces is displayed (arranged) while maintaining the left and right balance, etc., etc., whereby a left and right, etc., proportioned image can be displayed without any strange feeling.

[0151] Fig. 6 (B) is a view similar to that shown previously. Fig. 4 (B). Linear perspective and aerial perspective are applied together, creating an image with a sense of depth. The respective display elements are colored blue, for example. However, the shading differs, and the sharpness increases the further forward the display elements are viewed.

[0152] Next, Fig. 7. Fig. 7 is a view showing another example in which the respective first to third display elements shown in Fig. 6 (A) are presented using perspective to let the driver perceive an image with a sense of depth (three-dimensionality).

[0153] Fig. 7 is a view similar to the one shown previously Fig. 5. Linear perspective and aerial perspective are applied together, forming an image with a sense of depth. The respective display elements (display patterns) are colored, and their colors are different. For the patterns perceived from the distance as seen by the driver 3, cool colors (contracting colors) such as light blue and blue are used, and for the patterns perceived close up, warm colors (expanding colors) such as yellow and red are used, which can create a more clear sense of depth.

[0154] Next, Fig. 8. Fig. 8 (A) to (G) are a display example of a case where the driving responsibility is transferred from the vehicle to the driver (includes a display showing a change in the driving assistance level by a ring-shaped pattern, a clarification display, and a display of a grasping position), and a view showing a voice example.

[0155] In the example of Fig. 8, when the driver 3 is made to feel a movement (first sense perception) directed from the depth side to the front side, at a time when the display element on the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4 is displayed, or after that time, a clarifying treatment is carried out with respect to this display element.

[0156] Fig. 8 (A) to (D) are the same as those shown previously Fig. 3 (A) to (D). After the display of the Fig. 8 (C) or Fig. 8 (D) is used to display the Fig. 8 (E).

[0157] In the example of Fig. 8 (E), a clarifying treatment is performed with respect to the pattern P4 displayed on the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4. The pattern after the clarifying treatment is assigned the reference symbol P4'.

[0158] The "clarification treatment" can be implemented, for example, by temporarily increasing the luminosity or brightness of the ring-shaped pattern or display element, and by temporarily flashing the pattern or display element. In other words, the "clarification treatment" can also be referred to as "treatment in which the display state is temporarily changed and conspicuousness is increased."

[0159] For example, the driver's gaze is directed to this indicator, alerting the driver that a change in the driving assistance level has occurred, preventing oversight and allowing the driver to recognize the change in the driving assistance level with certainty. Furthermore, when driving responsibility shifts from vehicle 1 to driver 3, driver 2 is clearly notified that driving responsibility is present, and a preparatory effect is obtained, in which the driver prepares to grasp the steering wheel 4 (they are ready to do so in advance).

[0160] Furthermore, Fig. 8 (E) a guide voice “The automatic driving interval has ended” from the loudspeaker 107 (cf. Fig. 1) issued.

[0161] Voice guidance is used jointly, allowing information to be transmitted with even greater certainty. Furthermore, the driver can perceive the driving situation, etc., through sight and hearing, thus promoting understanding of the information.

[0162] After displaying the Fig. 8 (E) becomes Fig. 8 (F). In Fig. 8 (F), the line-shaped and band-shaped indicator pieces PL4 and PR4 are displayed at the left-right position of the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4, thereby indicating the gripping position of the steering wheel 4 to the driver 3. Furthermore, a guidance voice "Please grasp the handlebar" is output from the speaker 107.

[0163] After displaying the Fig. 8 (F) becomes Fig. 8 (G). In Fig. 8 (G), a guidance voice “It has been switched to manual drive” is output from the loudspeaker 107.

[0164] Next, Fig. 9. Fig. 9 is a view showing an example in which an icon showing a driving state (driving mode) is displayed on a center part of the steering wheel.

[0165] Fig. 9 is a view similar to the one shown previously Fig. 8 (F). In Fig. 9, an icon M1, which encourages gripping the handlebar, is also displayed in a central display area D1 of the central part 7 of the steering wheel 4.

[0166] In this way, a light sign including at least one of letters, graphics and marks showing information related to the driving state or situation or operations to be performed by the driver next is displayed in the central display area D1, whereby advantageous information can be displayed to the driver in an easily visible or easily understandable manner.

[0167] Next, Fig. 10. Fig. 10 (A) to (I) are a display example of a case where the driving responsibility is transferred from the vehicle to the driver (includes a display showing a change in the driving assistance level by a divided line-shaped or band-shaped pattern, a clarification display, and a display of a grasping position), and a view showing a voice example.

[0168] Fig. 10 is a view similar to the one shown previously Fig. 8. In Fig. 10, a clarifying treatment is carried out with respect to a line-shaped or band-shaped display element (pattern) ( Fig. 8 (E) to (G)).

[0169] Fig. 10 (A) to (D) are the same as the Fig. 8 (A) to (D). Fig. 10 (H), (I) are equal to the Fig. 8 (F), (G).

[0170] In Fig. 10 is used instead of Fig. 8 (E) a clarifying treatment of one of the Fig. 10 (E) to (H).

[0171] The clarification treatment can be performed after the display of the Fig. 10 (D) or it can be carried out according to Fig. 10 (C) Fig. 10 (D) and to one of the displays of the Fig. 10 (E) to (F).

[0172] In Fig. 10 (E) the luminous intensity and the brightness level of a separated pair of line-shaped or band-shaped (here circular arc-shaped) display pieces (light strips) PL4', PR4' are temporarily increased. The color or the hue or the color saturation is temporarily changed and the conspicuity is increased.

[0173] In Fig. 10 (F) indicator pieces PL5, PR5 are temporarily extended. If the Fig. 10 (E) and (F) are compared, is in Fig. 10 (F) the indicator piece is extended upwards by L1 and downwards by L2.

[0174] In Fig. 10 (G), a pair of indicator pieces PL6, PR6 swings along the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4.

[0175] In Fig. 10 (E) to (G), a guidance voice "Auto cruise interval has ended" is output from the speaker 107. A guidance voice "Please grasp the handlebar" may also be output.

[0176] In this way, by temporarily changing the color, etc., of the indicator, temporarily changing its length, or position control that moves the indicator as if it were swaying, the conspicuousness can be temporarily increased. Therefore, the driver 3 can be prepared in advance regarding the next action to be taken. This contributes to a smooth and safe ride.

[0177] Next, Fig. 11. Fig. 11 (A) to (E) are views showing an example of a case where the display position and the moving direction of the display are changed on the steering wheel according to an action that the driver is to perform next, and Fig. 11 (F) to (J) are views showing another example.

[0178] In Fig. 11 shows a case where other advantageous information (information other than the change information of the speed level) is displayed in connection with the notification of a change in the speed level.

[0179] In the Fig. 11 (A) to (D), indicator pieces P10 to P40, which differ in size, are displayed with a time difference on the center part 7, the coupling part 9c extending from the center part 7 to the lower side, and the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4. In other words, the line-shaped or band-shaped indicator pieces P10 to P40 are moved in a direction (here, downward) corresponding to an action that the driver 3 is expected to perform next (here, an action involving depressing the brake).

[0180] Furthermore, Fig. 11 (D) a guide voice “Please apply the brake” is emitted from the loudspeaker 107.

[0181] In this way, the display position of the display piece is changed according to the action the driver should take next, which allows the driver 3 to know in advance what should be done and be ready to do it.

[0182] Furthermore, Fig. 11 (E) on the underside of the outer edge part of the steering wheel 4, the linear or band-shaped indicator P40 is displayed, and in addition, an icon M2, which encourages the brake to be depressed, is displayed in the central display area D1 on the central part 7 of the steering wheel 4. This allows the driver 3 to understand with certainty and immediately that an operation requiring the brake to be depressed is necessary. Furthermore, Fig. 11 (E) a guide voice “Please apply the brake” is emitted from the loudspeaker 107.

[0183] In the Fig. 11 (F) to (I), indicator pieces P50 to P80, whose sizes differ, are displayed with a time difference on the center part 7 and the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4. In other words, the line-shaped or band-shaped indicator pieces P50 to P80 are moved in a direction (here, upward) corresponding to an action that the driver 3 should perform next (here, an action that pays attention to the front). Furthermore, a guidance voice "Pay attention to the front" is output from the speaker 107.

[0184] In Fig. 11 (J) In addition, an icon M3 is displayed in the central display area D1 on the central part 7 of the steering wheel 4, which encourages attention to the front.

[0185] Next, Fig. 12. Fig. 12 (A) to (F) are views showing an example in which a display showing the change content of the driving assistance level and a display showing an action to be taken next by the driver are executed simultaneously.

[0186] The example of the Fig. 12 is basically the same as the example of Fig. 11. However, in Fig. 12 the display control of the previously shown Fig. 6 (A) (display control in which a pair of display pieces are moved left and right) and in the Fig. 11 (A) to (E) (display control in which a display piece is moved downward) is carried out simultaneously. In this aspect, it differs from Fig. 11.

[0187] In Fig. 12 (D), a guidance voice “Please grasp the handlebar and apply the brake” is output from the loudspeaker 107.

[0188] Also Fig. 12 (E), a guidance voice “Please grasp the handlebar and apply the brake” is output from the loudspeaker 107.

[0189] Here, if the driver 3 has grasped the handlebars but does not press the brake, as in Fig. 12 (F), the indicator P40, which encourages an action involving the application of the brake, is continuously displayed. Furthermore, the guidance voice "Please apply the brake" is repeatedly output from the loudspeaker 107.

[0190] In the example of Fig. 12, several pieces of information can be communicated to the driver 3 at once.

[0191] Next, Fig. 13. Fig. 13 (A) to (E) are views showing a display example (modified example) in which a display by a ring-shaped pattern and a pair of divided line-shaped or band-shaped patterns were jointly applied.

[0192] In Fig. 13 the previously shown display of the Fig. 3 (A) to (D) and those in Fig. 6 (A) are applied together, thereby creating a sensory perception of a wave-like movement of the pattern for the driver even more clearly.

[0193] In the Fig. 13 (A) to (D) the ring-shaped patterns P1, P2, P3, P4 are displayed with a time difference.

[0194] Here in Fig. 13 (C) a pair of ring-shaped or band-shaped indicator pieces (patterns) PL3, PR3 are displayed on the center part (hub) 7 of the steering wheel 4. Then, in Fig. 13 (D) this pair of line-shaped or band-shaped indicator pieces (patterns) PL4, PR4 are displayed on the left and right coupling part (spoke) 9a, 9b of the steering wheel 4.

[0195] Afterwards, Fig. 13 (E) at the left and right positions of the outer edge part (edge) 5 of the steering wheel 4, a pair of line-shaped or band-shaped display pieces (patterns) PL5, PR5 are displayed. Furthermore, in Fig. 13 (E) a guidance voice "Automatic cruise interval has ended. Please grasp the handlebar" is output from the loudspeaker 107.

[0196] Next, Fig. 14. Fig. 14 (A) to (E) are views showing an example (practical example) in which, when the annular pattern is moved from the inside of the steering wheel to the outside, the width of the band-shaped pattern at the coupling part is set larger (wider) than the width of the annular pattern at the center part and the outer edge part, respectively.

[0197] In Fig. 14 (A), (B) patterns P1, P2 of a first circle or ring are displayed one after the other on the central part 7 of the steering wheel, in Fig. 14 (C), a part of a pattern (line-shaped or band-shaped display piece) P3 of a second circle or ring concentric with the first circle or ring is displayed on the coupling parts 9a, 9b, 9c, and in Fig. 14 (D), a pattern P4 of a third circle or ring concentric with the first and second circles or rings is indicated at the outer peripheral part 5.

[0198] In Fig. 14 (C) it cannot be denied that the fact that the entirety of the circle or ring cannot be displayed on the coupling parts 9a, 9b of the steering wheel 4 is likely to cause a strange feeling. Therefore, as shown in Fig. 14 (E), a display control is carried out in which this strange feeling is suppressed.

[0199] In Fig. 14 (E), the line width or bandwidth D2 of the second circle or ring is set larger than the line width or bandwidth D1 of the first and third circles or rings.

[0200] In a case where, as in the Fig. 14 (A) to (D), the display element is moved from the inside to the outside (or it may also be a case where it is moved from the outside to the inside), if it takes time to pass through the coupling parts 9a, 9b, the period in which a strange feeling is generated becomes long.

[0201] Therefore, in Fig. 14 (E), in order to shorten the transit time of the light band at the coupling parts 9a, 9b, the bandwidth of this light band is made larger (wider) than the bandwidth at the ring of the central part 7 and the outer edge part 5, respectively. The coupling parts 9a, 9b are moved quickly and can be traversed in a short time. This can reduce the strange feeling.

[0202] Next, Fig. 15. Fig. 15 (A) to (H) are views showing a display example (including early notification treatment) in a case where the driving support is extended.

[0203] Fig. 15 (A) to (D) are the same as those shown previously Fig. 3 (F) to (I). A ring-shaped pattern is moved from the outer side to the inner side on the steering wheel 4, whereby a sensory perception (second sensory perception) of a movement (movement) directed from the front side to the depth side can be generated in the driver 3.

[0204] In Fig. 15 (E), (F), in order to inform the driver 3 of the extension of the driving assistance, a display control in which the conspicuity is increased is carried out on the outer edge part 5 of the steering wheel 4 before the above second sensory perception is generated in the driver (before the display of the Fig. 15 (A)). Reference symbols HL, HR indicate the left hand and right hand of the rider 3, which grip the handlebar.

[0205] In Fig. 15 (E) shows a band Q4 of intermittent light. In Fig. 15 (F) is the one previously Fig. 8 (E) shown clarification treatment was carried out.

[0206] Furthermore, Fig. 15 (E) or Fig. 15 (F) or Fig. 15 (A) a guidance voice “The vehicle is entering automatic mode” is output from the loudspeaker 107. After Fig. 15 (E) or (F) becomes Fig. 15 (A) or Fig. 15 (B).

[0207] In this way, when the expansion of the driving assistance level is transmitted to the driver 3, a prominent indication is displayed in advance on the steering wheel 4, allowing the driver 3 to instantly understand, for example, that a display indicating that a change in the driving level has occurred has begun. Therefore, the driver can be prepared in advance. Therefore, for example, the effect of reducing a strange feeling by suddenly starting a lighting display, etc., can be achieved.

[0208] Furthermore, the Fig. 15 (B) below a staging of an advertisement as in the Fig. 15 (G) and (H). In Fig. 15 (G) 4 band-shaped (circular arc-shaped) indicator pieces P90 to P93 are displayed on the central part 7 of the steering wheel.

[0209] In Fig. 15 (H), four band-shaped (circular-arc-shaped) indicators P94 to P97 are displayed in the center display area D1 on the center section 7 of the steering wheel. Various display controls are implemented as needed, allowing the change in the driving assistance level to be communicated to the driver with certainty.

[0210] Furthermore, Fig. 15 (D) or Fig. 15 (H) a guidance voice “Automatic drive has started” is output from the loudspeaker 107.

[0211] Next, Fig. 16. Fig. 16 is a view showing another example in which an icon showing the driving state (driving mode) is displayed on the center part of the steering wheel.

[0212] Fig. 16 is a view similar to that shown previously Fig. 9. In Fig. 16, an icon M4 is displayed to the driver 3 in the central display area D1 on the center section 7 of the steering wheel 4, encouraging the driver to remove his hand from the handlebar being grasped. Furthermore, a guidance voice, "Automatic driving has begun. Please remove your hand from the handlebar," is output from the loudspeaker 107.

[0213] These controls allow the driver to understand with certainty and immediately what should be done next.

[0214] Next, Fig. 17. Fig. Fig. 17 (A) is a view showing a display example (including a character (light character) displayed on the center part of the steering wheel) in an automatic driving state, and Fig. 17 (B), (C) are views showing another example of a character (light character) displayed on the center part of the steering wheel.

[0215] Fig. 17 shows a display example during automatic driving. In Fig. 17 (A), control is performed in which band-shaped indicators (circular-arc indicators) P100, P102 are moved according to the automatic rotation of the steering wheel 4 by the automatic cruise control. This allows the driver to visually confirm that the automatic cruise is being performed smoothly, and a sense of security can be maintained.

[0216] Furthermore, Fig. 17 (A) In the center display area D1 of the steering wheel 4, multiple circles are combined, and a graphic (or pattern) with a decorative effect is displayed. The positions of the individual circles, which are constituent elements of this graphic (or pattern), are changed and moved, thereby imparting movement to this graphic (or pattern). Such a graphic, etc., is displayed in the center display area D1, thereby increasing the driver's sense of security during automatic driving and providing a comfortable driving environment.

[0217] Furthermore, it is also possible that in the middle display area D1, as in Fig. 17 (B), a character M6 is displayed showing the manufacturer, etc. of the display device for a vehicle, and that, as shown in Fig. 17 (C), letters are displayed indicating the approach of an ambulance. Furthermore, Fig. 17 (C) a guidance voice "An ambulance is approaching" is output from the loudspeaker 107. Such display control allows the driver to be informed of various information during automatic driving without any strange feeling.

[0218] Next, Fig. 18. Fig. 18 is a flowchart showing a process example of display control.

[0219] In a step S1, the AI module of the automatic driving system acquires change information of the driving assistance level (prediction information of the change of the driving level).

[0220] In step S2, it is judged whether there is a change in the automatic drive level. If Y, the system proceeds to step S3 and judges whether the drive assist level is decreasing (whether the drive level is decreasing). In step S3, if Y, the system proceeds to step S4, and if N, the system proceeds to step S7.

[0221] In step S4, a display control is executed in which a sensory perception (first sensory perception) moving from the depth side to the front side is generated for the driver.

[0222] Subsequently, in step S5, a clarification process is executed to clarify the change in the driving assistance level. In step S6, a display showing the next action the driver should take is executed.

[0223] Further, in step S7, display control is executed, generating a sensory perception (second sensory perception) for the driver that moves from the front side to the depth side. Subsequently, in step S8, display processing after the transition to automatic driving is executed.

[0224] In step S9, it is judged whether the display is terminated. If Y, the display is terminated, and if N, the system returns to step S1.

[0225] Such a display control, for example, performs a staging through display elements during the change of the driving assistance level, allowing the driver to intuitively recognize the content of the change without any strange feeling.

[0226] The change content is intuitively understood, without the driver having to follow the movement of the display elements with their eyes and confirm and understand their direction, as was previously the case, thus achieving instantaneous understanding. Therefore, the time required for the driver to understand that the driving mode has been changed can be shortened, which also contributes to safe driving.

[0227] Further, when a computer program is used, as long as it is a computer system provided with a basic structure such as a processor or a memory, the above display control method can be realized simply and easily.

[0228] Embodiments of the present invention were explained above, but the present invention is not limited to these embodiments, and various variations and practical applications are possible. For example, an area on the steering wheel that the driver is supposed to grasp was indicated by a light signal, but it is also possible that if the driver does not grasp it, this light signal is flashed and changed to a color that indicates a warning and is flashed. Such a change can be implemented according to the circumstances.

[0229] Furthermore, the display elements, display pieces, etc., in a broader sense, may also be referred to as "light display" or "light mark." Furthermore, the display control (display staging) in which the display elements are displayed on the steering wheel using a projector or a light-emitting element may also be called "light marking."

[0230] Furthermore, the term "vehicle" in this description can also be interpreted in a broader sense as a means of transport. Furthermore, the terms relating to driving assistance are also interpreted in a broader sense, taking into account, for example, the view, etc., of information in a broader sense that is useful for driving the vehicle.

[0231] The display device or display device for a vehicle also includes an object that is used as a simulator (e.g., an aircraft simulator or a video game console simulator).

[0232] The present invention is not limited to the above-mentioned exemplary embodiments, and furthermore, those skilled in the art should be able to easily modify the above-mentioned exemplary embodiments within the scope encompassed by the claims. List of reference symbols
