Abstract
Description
[0001] Fireplaces are usually fired with wood, although in a few cases, coal briquettes are also used. Wood is preferably used in the form of large logs or similarly sized wood briquettes. These logs or wood briquettes must be carefully stacked on top of each other in the fireplace before burning to form a stable stack.
[0002] The use of small pieces of wood and wood scraps instead of large logs or wood briquettes is generally not possible because such pieces are usually too small to be stacked.
[0003] During combustion or when adding fuel, the woodpile almost always collapses – regardless of the size of the logs or wood or coal briquettes used, and regardless of whether the fire was lit from above or below. Especially in modern fireplaces with front or corner glass panes, burning logs or embers often fall onto the pane. The charred remains and ash are thus distributed unevenly throughout the combustion chamber and on the glass pane and frame.
[0004] The invention referred to in claims 1 to 3 is based on the approach of creating a maximally light and elegant slim fire basket for insertion into the fireplace stove, which solves these problems, does not obstruct the smoke outlet and, in the case of fireplaces with glass panes, protects them and leaves the optical flame pattern openly visible during combustion and does not cover it.
[0005] This approach is solved with claims 1 to 3. The adjustable fire basket ensures that: • In addition to large logs, wood briquettes or coal briquettes, all types and sizes of small pieces of wood can be used to operate the fireplace. • the wood used, regardless of its size, can be filled from above into the fire basket in the stove without stacking, including small pieces of wood that cannot fall out of the basket. • all types of fuel remain in the basket during combustion and do not fall uncontrollably to the side, even onto the glass pane. • the flame pattern is not obscured by the fire basket during combustion and remains fully visible. • the smoke extraction is not obstructed in any way. • The ash remains almost entirely within the fire basket area. Because the fire basket has no bottom, it falls directly down to the existing grate or floor.
[0006] The fire basket can be of various sizes. It stands completely free in the combustion chamber and is not permanently or detachably connected to the chimney. With a small gap between it and the side walls of the combustion chamber, this ensures excellent air circulation all around, thus ensuring more effective and even combustion from all sides.
[0007] All fireplace functions remain unaffected or restricted before, during, and after use of the fire basket. The fire basket can be easily and conveniently removed—for example, for cleaning the stove.
[0008] The round steel used, with a thickness of preferably approx. 8 mm, ensures a long-lasting and therefore sustainable use of the fire basket and still allows for a slim appearance with maximum low weight. List of reference symbols 1 vertical round steel 2 horizontal round steel bars
Claims
[1] Fire basket for use in fireplaces, characterized by that the fire basket has a rectangular, open-ended cuboid shape on all sides and that it consists of 4 vertical round steel bars (1) which form the 4 edges of the fire basket and to which 4 further round steel bars (2) are welded horizontally at equal vertical intervals in such a way that they each form parallel, rectangular rings which are arranged one above the other at the same constant distance from the lower to the upper end of the vertical round steel bars. [2] Fire basket according to claim 1, characterized by that the fire basket is open at the top and bottom. [3] Fire basket according to one of the preceding claims, characterized by that the fire basket is a compact, portable element made from one piece without any moving parts or attachments. [4] Fire basket according to one of the preceding claims, characterized bythat the fire basket does not have any parts or attachments that are intended to serve in any way as a fixed or detachable connection to the fireplace.
