Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a training device for supporting correct leg movement in breaststroke swimming, especially for children.
[0002] The training device consists of a main belt (1.) and several elastically connected leg and foot loops. The main belt is made of robust, flexible material and equipped with a closure system (3.) for individual size adjustment. Attachment points are provided on both sides of this main belt at appropriate intervals. (4.)
[0003] The leg loops (5.) consist of adjustable fastening systems, each with an attachment point on the outside. (6.) These loops are attached above the knees. The foot loops (7.) are designed in a similar way and also have attachment points on the outside. These are placed in the area of the balls of the feet.
[0004] The connection system consists of elastic elements (2) that connect the attachment points of the main harness to the corresponding points of the knee loops, creating tension. Additional elastic connections run from the attachment points of the knee loops to those of the foot loops. Adjustment mechanisms are integrated into the elastic connections to regulate tension, allowing the pulling force to be adjusted.
[0005] The device's operation is based on two main mechanisms: 1. The elastic connection between the hip belt and knee straps creates a controlled upward and outward pull. This pull supports the correct positioning of the legs in a slightly spread position, corresponding to the starting position of the breaststroke kick. When returning the legs, a noticeable resistance is created, promoting an active return to the starting position. 2. The connection between the knee and foot straps, combined with the outward positioning of the attachment points, creates a natural upward and outward rotation of the feet. This design effectively prevents unwanted inward rotation of the feet and stabilizes the optimal foot position for the breaststroke kick.
[0006] The training device is designed to accommodate different body sizes and training levels thanks to adjustable tension elements. The materials used are suitable for use in swimming pools, ensuring long-term durability. The closure systems allow for quick donning and doffing of the device and secure fastening during training.
[0007] The described construction effectively prevents the frequently occurring error of alternating kicking (flutter kick) (colloquially: scissors kick), as the tension of the elastic connections makes incorrect movement patterns more difficult and at the same time supports the correct execution of the movement.
