Shoe ventilation

A shoe which facilitates ventilation between the inner area of the shoe and its surrounding environment. An air cavity allowing foot heat and moisture to escape the immediate foot area and exhaust into free open space is used. A dual-layer sole system which is integrated in a manner to form an air cavity therebetween is also utilized. A series of perforations and / or cutouts are used to facilitate foot-air and moisture flow. A plurality of ventilation ports are used to facilitate bi-directional air exchange and circulation. Two anvil-shaped supports at the ball and foot area may serve as a framework to preserve the shape of the open-air cavity.

Patient specific ankle-foot orthotic device

The unique advantages of computer-controlled fabrication of a patient-specific orthotic device using an automated fabrication machine capable of following computer instructions to create 3D surface contours and new developments in non-invasive three-dimensional (3D) scanning have made it possible to acquire digital models of freeform surfaces such as the surface anatomy of the human body and to then fabricate such a patient-specific device with high precision. Such a patient-specific device brings significant improvement in patient-specific fit, comfort, and function of medical devices (and, in particular, to orthoses that require a close fit to the wearer's body to act effectively). The combination of these two technologies is ideally suited for the development of patient-specific orthotic devices.A patient specific ankle-foot orthotic device using this technology is disclosed. This exemplary device is used to help stabilize the ankle-foot region, for example, in patients with impaired gait.

Sole structure for a shoe

A hard elastic body (10) having a longitudinally extending cavity (13) formed therein is provided mainly at a forefoot region (F) of a sole body. The cavity (13) is formed of a first curved surface (11) extending curvedly in a longitudinal direction and a second curved surface (12) disposed under the first curved surface (11) and extending curvedly in a longitudinal direction as well. A front and rear end of the second curved surface (12) is connected to a front and rear end of the first curved surface (11) respectively and an intermediate portion of the second curved surface (12) is spaced apart downwardly from an intermediate portion of the first curved surface (11). A path (PQ1) between the front and rear end of the first curved surface (11) is substantially equal to a path (PQ2) between the front and rear end of the second curved surface (12). When the first curved surface (11) is pressed downwardly, the sole body is deformed in such a way that a rear foot region (R) of the sole body is lifted upwardly.

There is a shoe sole that has a continuous and uniform sole body. The sole body is configured to have a continuous curve so that both the toe region and the heel region flex upwards away from the mid-foot region and has a downward curving or a flat end region, allowing the mid-foot region of sole to flex toward a surface whereto the sole is placed. Preferably, the sole body is strong and resilient and made from a single type of material, such as iron, steel, aluminum alloy, titanium or resilient plastic. When a wearer steps on the shoe sole, the sole body is flattened. When wearer steps forward to walk or run, the heel region flexes up and provides a pushing force to the heel of the wearer, facilitating the walking or running motion.

InactiveUS8640363B2Enhance comfort and fit and utilityMovement of footSolesNon-surgical orthopedic devicesCalcaneusFoot region
Footwear including an integrated orthotics system provides support with progressive resistance in pronation and supenation motions of the foot during a gait cycle. The orthotics system includes an orthotic device between the mid-sole and the outsole and extend from the rear foot's calcaneus region to the forefoot region where the phalanges and metatarsal joints meets. The orthotic device includes contours mimicking a foot sole shape in an unloaded state. The orthotic system may also include a secondary external orthotic device embedded underneath the outsole to provide control in the mid foot region to achieve progressive compression resistance in the mid foot arch zones. The secondary device may be customizable to achieve a wide range of resistance level needed in mid foot compression by the wearer. The orthotics combined with the midsole and outsole provide progressive mid foot compression resistance and directional flex associated with pronatory motions of the foot.

Method for densifying teeth of a gear wheel

A method and an apparatus are described for producing a gear wheel from a powder metal blank (1) which is sintered and pressed with an overmeasure in the flank and root region of the teeth and which in the region of the overmeasure is densified under plastic deformation by the overmeasure by pressing in a counter-toothing (3) of a pressing tool (2) which engages in the toothing (4). In order to provide advantageous conditions it is proposed that during the plastic deformation of the flank or foot region of the tooth, the tip surface of the respective tooth is subjected to a pressure force counteracting an extension of the tooth.
