AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing harvesting machines with wider attachments face risks of collision with transport vehicles due to unexpected speed changes, and existing warning systems require additional effort or are not universally implemented.

Method used

A harvesting machine equipped with marker lights and flashing lights controlled by a control unit, activated based on braking, turning, and manual switches, to warn transport vehicle drivers of potential maneuvers and collisions.

🎯Benefits of technology

Minimizes collision risks by effectively alerting transport vehicle drivers through integrated lighting systems using existing components, enhancing safety during harvesting operations.

Abstract

Harvesting machine (10) that can be moved in a forward direction (V) across a field, comprising: a harvesting attachment (20) with a working width within which a transport vehicle (12) can drive alongside the harvesting machine (10) and at whose two outer ends marker lights (24) are attached, and a control unit (30) which is connected and configured with the marker lights (24), flashing lights (26) attached to both sides of the harvester header (10), a marker light switch (34) and a flashing switch (32): (a) to activate one or both of the flashing lights (26) when the flashing switch (32) is activated, (b) to permanently switch the marker lights (24) on or off depending on the marker light switch (34), and (c) to activate one or both of the marker lights (24) in a flashing manner when the turn signal switch (32) is activated.
