Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for the combined display of map material and outdoor advertising according to the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] Maps, especially electronic city maps, are well known and are used, for example, in the form of an electronic display on a freestanding outdoor stand. Such electronic city maps allow interactive access to various city map displays, for example, with traffic information and detours for private vehicles, timetables and routes for public transport, with virtually visitable sights and accommodations for tourists, or with helpful information for people with disabilities. Sometimes they also include geodata portals, such as building land registers for professionals or options for virtual 24 / 7 visits to public offices.
[0003] A freestanding outdoor display for an interactive city map, designed to quickly and easily show those unfamiliar with the area the routes of specific bus lines, their departure times, and the travel costs for a trip from a current location to a desired destination, is described, for example, in CN-104572749. An interactive information board, described in CN-2703278, allows existing accommodations to be found, along with their location and room rates, as well as directions to the location, all easily retrieved from a computer database integrated into the information board. The information stored in this computer database can be updated periodically.
[0004] These familiar interactive city maps operate autonomously and are usually installed as outdoor displays or steles on access roads on the outskirts of a city, near a city's shopping streets, or centrally in train stations. They are designed to help arriving pedestrians find their way around. They do not provide them with any additional information, such as current tourist attractions, special events, or the current availability of accommodations. These outdoor displays are usually subject to local regulations governing the erection of large billboards and require a permit, meaning they cannot be installed in all advertising-effective locations. US 2014 / 156186 and US 6,571,279 describe further examples of prior art systems.
[0005] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a device with interactive map material, in particular with an interactive city map, interactive weather data and / or interactive tourism data, which overcomes the disadvantages of known devices with interactive map material and in particular to provide such a device in combination with at least one digital advertising. With this device, not only locally stored data can be retrieved, but also current information can be displayed and updated. This interactive map material and the digital advertising can be arranged in a freely selectable manner, i.e.on the same screen or on different (front and rear) screens of the same installation (freestanding or wall-mounted display device) or on different screens of different installations.
[0006] It is also an object of the present invention to be able to transfer the retrievable current information to portable devices in order to be able to guide passers-by to the desired destinations regardless of their location.
[0007] It is a further object of the present invention to design the control of the at least one digital advertising screen independently of that for the maps, ie to be able to maintain this control independent of the location of the installation.
[0008] According to the invention, this object is achieved by a device having the features of claim 1 and by the use of this device according to claim 8. Further preferred developments of the device are described in the subclaims.
[0009] The invention will be explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment and the accompanying drawings. Herein: Fig. 1: A schematic representation of the structure of the device according to the invention. Fig. 2: A schematic representation of the structure of a device component for displaying a software-controlled advertisement; Fig. 3: A schematic representation of the structure of a device component for displaying an interactive map.
[0010] The Fig. 1shows, by way of example, a stationary stele with a double-sided digital panel (1). The illustrated digital panel (1) has a digital display (2) with preferably several partial areas (3, 3', 3", 3‴), in particular for displaying a map (3") and several advertising displays / advertising screens (3, 3', 3‴). A list of interactive buttons (11) and / or an interactive point-of-interest list (12), preferably in the form of touchscreens, allows users to retrieve further desired detailed information.According to the invention, the control (digital signage setup) of the digital advertising screens (3, 3', 3"') comprises at least three modules: i) a digital double-sided panel (1) in the form of a free-standing stele or a wall-mounted double monitor, optionally also a multi-part panel group, ii) a digital content management system in a cloud (13) and iii) a content management administrator system on an office PC (14) of an administrator, as well as an electronic module (A) for controlling the digital display (2).
[0011] According to the invention, the digital panel (1) is combined with a content management system (4i) of a geo-information system and its SaaS. The data (mapping content) of this geo-CMS (4i) can be retrieved directly (5i) or via cloud data feed systems (7i) in a pull-mode.
[0012] Fig. 2 shows the front of the Fig. 1illustrated panel (1) with a large-area digital display (2) for displaying software-controlled advertising (3‴). Here, the digital panel (1) comprises, for example, a control unit (A) with at least a) a digital player (23), i.e., a local computer, b) a mobile radio router (24), preferably a 4G router, or a switch for the WLAN or LAN connection to the Internet, and c) at least one digital display (2) for displaying the digital content. It is understood that the connection to the Internet (10) can be established via a landline connection (16) and / or via a mobile radio or WiFi connection (15).
[0013] This control (A) preferably operates using a pull mechanism, i.e., the player (23) periodically queries the CMS (13), preferably an associated SaaS, in the cloud (13), whether new content and / or configuration information, e.g., regarding schedules or updates, is available. If necessary, the player (23) downloads this information directly and locally. With the exception of online campaigns, e.g., via a direct URL link or via cyclical updates, such as weather information, the content (image or video) is played locally.
[0014] It is understood that the control (A) can also be operated in the push mode to update the data.
[0015] The digital content management system (13) installed in the cloud with the cloud-based digital signage software (SaaS) is an essential component of the present invention and contains all essential tourism information. All inventory configurations and the respective campaigns are stored here. This SaaS solution from the digital signage manufacturer can be accessed via the public internet with user login protection or via another secure connection to a private cloud.
[0016] The content management administration system (14) can, for example, be installed on office PCs and used by a dedicated campaign management and IT team. Depending on the company structure, campaign management can also be handled via an administration system installed locally on a computer or operated via a web interface. This system allows access to the SaaS database and is used for both IT management and inventory creation, as well as for creating digital campaigns. This allows content to be uploaded and campaigns planned, which are then stored in the CMS SaaS solution in the cloud (13) and can be downloaded again by the player (23) as required.
[0017] As in Fig. 3The digital panel (1) is also shown linked to a content management system (4i) of a geo-information system and its SaaS. The data (mapping content) of this geo-CMS (4i) or other data can be retrieved directly via APIs (application programming interfaces) in a pull manner (5i) or via cloud data feed systems (7i), and data for local geo-information applications (6i), which run offline on a separate player (8) and allow touch interactions, can be retrieved directly. The APIs (application programming interfaces) allow digital ads, such as maps, poles (points of interest), but also additional fields for advertising and / or for live feeds, to be updated via the various online CMSs. In particular, a geo-CMS (4i) of a known type can be used with the present device to retrieve the data (mapping content) directly (5i).Additional CMSs (7i) allow the connection of live feeds for the digital advertising screens (3, 3', 3", 3‴). It goes without saying that the existing data can be updated by the manager components of the geo-information system (4i) or via these CMSs (7i) or directly from the cloud-based digital content management system (13), and the changes can be synchronized via the existing APIs (interfaces) to then run offline on the CityMap player (8). These APIs also allow the implementation of CMSs from other pole partners. In addition, the data from the CMSs (4i) used can also be used online, e.g., by a full-online web app (19) or mobile apps (18).
[0018] The present advertising and information panels are known to be stationary and are preferably set up freestanding. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the digital panel (1) is double-sided and has, for example, digital ads (digital advertising) on the front and a city map on the back for simultaneous display. It is understood that other arrangements are also possible with the present device, for example, with separate and wall-mounted monitors or with split screens for the simultaneous display of different content.
[0019] In a preferred embodiment, the device according to the invention can also display different types of maps (Globe, Street) and has the Figure 3The display (2) shown as an example has a pole list on the left side (including illustrations and views) and a navigation list with interactive buttons / keys on the right side, e.g. with bus timetables, base map display selection, language selection, etc. Preferably, this display also shows the starting point, as well as a touch symbol (hand), routing (route guidance), a QR code for scanning information about the pole or for uploading the routing guidance to a smartphone via e.g. Google ®< current timetables of all public transport services for each individual starting point, etc. and tracking of all interactions is provided.
[0020] The advantages of the present invention are immediately apparent to those skilled in the art, particularly in the creation of interfaces for the automated updating of the displays visible on the digital panel, e.g., maps, poles, and / or additional frames, such as advertising and / or live feeds, via various online CMSs (e.g., ArcGIS Online), as well as their offline synchronization. Thus, the present invention allows the data relating to the poles and / or advertising spaces, e.g., for accommodations, to be used as a website on a desktop, laptop, notebook, tablet, or smartphone display, both online and in apps.
