Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a portable fireplace whose barrel-shaped base body is preferably designed as a beer barrel.
[0002] Various fire pits are already known in practice, such as simple fire bowls or fire pits that use a disused washing machine drum as a combustion chamber. Although these fire pits exist in various variations, they are usually only intended for permanent locations. If they do have to be transported, they have the disadvantage of being quite large and heavy, which makes transport considerably more difficult. In addition, dismantling the fire pits for transport is usually time-consuming and complex, requiring additional tools. Such fire pits are not designed for multiple transport. These types of fire pits are generally handcrafted products that are only produced in small quantities and are therefore expensive.
[0003] WO 2006 / 121326 A1 describes a portable appliance suitable for cooking. The appliance comprises a housing, a combustion chamber, an exhaust pipe, and an air supply opening that can be regulated by means of a slide valve.
[0004] US 2019 / 0113237 A1 describes a furnace with a combustion chamber, chimney, and a water heating unit attached to the chimney. The fuel is supplied through an opening in a casing surface.
[0005] US 2012 / 0060819 A1 discloses a portable cooking system or stove. The cooking system comprises a double-walled, barrel-shaped outer structure with air holes through which air flows into the interior, supporting the combustion of the fuel in a combustion chamber. Furthermore, the cooking system comprises a frustoconical inner structure that directs the air flow. The incoming air maintains a temperature on the outer surface of the outer structure at which contact with the outer surface is possible.
[0006] RU 197 189 U1 discloses a portable furnace with a hollow body. The furnace consists of three tubes and a fourth tube located on the casing formed by the tubes. Furthermore, the furnace comprises a fifth tube arranged in the second tube. Two tubes are arranged at an angle to the fourth tube and serve as combustion chambers. The fourth tube serves to collect ash and similar end products. Valves are arranged on the fourth tube to regulate the air flow in the furnace.
[0007] Online, Don describes a pizza oven that can be made from a 50-liter stainless steel beer keg (Don, "Beer Keg Pizza Oven (wood-fired) / Australia & New Zealand Homebrewing Forum," November 21, 2012, https: / / aussiehomebrewer.com / threads / beerkeg-pizza-oven-wood-fired.68933 / ). The keg has a hinged lid and handles attached to the lid's rim. A 150-mm diameter hole is drilled into the lid. The oven also includes a stainless steel tube, also 150 mm in diameter, welded to the lid near the hole. A door and a smoke vent or multiple holes are integrated around the circumference of the keg.
[0008] An object of the present invention, based on the prior art, is to provide a fireplace which allows for easy assembly and disassembly and can be easily and frequently transported in a compact state.
[0009] The above object is achieved by a portable fireplace according to the appended claim 1.
[0010] The portable fireplace according to the invention comprises a barrel-shaped base body, which has a smoke exhaust opening on its first end face, which represents the top side of the base body in the operating state. Furthermore, the base body has several air intake openings along its periphery, so that the fuel, preferably wood, is supplied with sufficient ambient air containing oxygen. Furthermore, the base body has at least three base receptacles on its second end face, which represents the underside of the base body in the operating state.
[0011] A connecting ring is arranged at the smoke exhaust opening of the base body, to which a first smoke exhaust pipe can be attached at its first end. The outer diameter of the first smoke exhaust pipe is smaller than the inside diameter of the smoke exhaust opening. This allows at least partial submersion of the first smoke exhaust pipe into the base body to create a transportable state.
[0012] The portable fireplace also has a second smoke vent pipe, which can be attached at its first end to the second end of the first smoke vent pipe. The outer diameter of the second smoke vent pipe is smaller than the inner diameter of the first smoke vent pipe, so that the second smoke vent pipe can be retracted at least partially into the first smoke vent pipe to create the transport position.
[0013] Furthermore, the portable fireplace has at least three feet that can be removably attached to the foot mounts of the base. During operation, the feet are attached to create a heat-insulating gap between the underside of the base and the surface. During transport, the feet are removed and preferably stored in the base or in the second flue pipe.
[0014] The barrel-shaped base body is particularly preferably made from a stainless steel KEG-50 DIN beer keg. Due to high production quantities, this is inexpensive to purchase and, with its 50-liter capacity, offers a suitable base body for the portable fireplace. It has also been shown that the inherent stability of stainless steel beer kegs manufactured according to KEG-50 DIN is sufficient to prevent excessive deformation of the material, even at the high temperatures that occur within the base body when burning wood, so that the fireplace remains usable over many usage cycles. The material of KEG-50 DIN beer kegs is also rust-proof and can withstand normal environmental influences for a long time. Preferably, all other components of the fireplace are also made of stainless steel.
[0015] Preferably, the barrel-shaped base body, the first smoke exhaust pipe, and the second smoke exhaust pipe are of substantially equal length, so that the two smoke exhaust pipes can be largely completely retracted into the barrel-shaped base body to place the fireplace in the transport position. This provides a compact transport size and facilitates storage in a transport vehicle.
[0016] Preferably, the at least three feet have a length of 20 ± 5 cm, particularly preferably the circumference of the at least three feet is smaller than the inner diameter of the second smoke exhaust pipe, so that the at least three feet can be stowed inside the second smoke exhaust pipe for transport.
[0017] In the operating state, the barrel-shaped base body, the connecting ring, the first smoke exhaust pipe and the second smoke exhaust pipe are preferably arranged coaxially to one another, ie the smoke exhaust opening of the base body is arranged centrally on its first end face.
[0018] Preferably, the at least three feet can be attached to the foot mounts with a thread, a bayonet lock, or a similar simple connection arrangement. This offers the advantage of quick and secure assembly / disassembly, preferably without the use of tools.
[0019] Preferably, the connecting ring is arranged in a permanent, coaxial, and integral manner on the smoke exhaust opening of the base body. The coaxial connection can be achieved, for example, by welding or brazing. Alternatively, the connecting ring can also be detachably attached to the base body using a thread or similar.
[0020] To prepare the portable fireplace for operation, the feet are attached to the underside of the base body to allow the fireplace to be set up. The first flue pipe is then attached to the connecting ring so that it extends essentially completely above the base body. The second flue pipe is then attached to the upper end of the first flue pipe to form the flue, which then extends approximately twice the length of the base body. The fuel, preferably dried logs, is poured into the base body before the flue pipes are attached or through them and ignited.
[0021] To prepare the fireplace for transport after the fuel has been burned and the fireplace has cooled down, the flue pipes are removed, slotted together, and telescoped into the base. Beforeward, any ash accumulated in the base is emptied. The feet are removed and preferably inserted into the second flue pipe located inside. This essentially reduces the external dimensions of the fireplace to the size of the base. The base can also be stored in a carrying bag to prevent dirt from accumulating during transport.
[0022] An advantageous embodiment of the fireplace is further characterized by a pattern cut out of the material in at least one of the two smoke outlet pipes. This primarily serves to enhance the appearance of the pipe, especially when this pattern is illuminated from the inside of the pipe as the fuel burns. The pattern can, for example, be lettering, which also serves as a branding element for the fireplace. Of course, such patterns or lettering can also be applied to the surface of the base body or embossed into it.
[0023] Further advantages and details of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of preferred embodiments, with reference to the drawings. Fig. 1 shows a preferred embodiment of a portable fireplace according to the invention in the operating state; Fig. 2 shows the portable fireplace according toFig. 1 in transport condition.
[0024] Fig. 1 shows a preferred embodiment of a portable fireplace 01 according to the invention in operation. In the embodiment shown, a barrel-shaped base body 02 is a modified stainless steel beer keg of the KEG-50 DIN type with a capacity of 50 liters. The stainless steel beer keg 02 has a smoke extraction opening 03 on its first end face, which forms its upper end face in operation. Twelve air supply openings 04 are arranged on the circumference of the base body 02, six along each circumferential line running parallel to one another. The air supply openings 04 are arranged offset from one another by 60°, for example, and have an opening diameter of approximately 42 mm. The air supply openings 04 are drilled into the material of the base body and serve to supply combustion air.
[0025] The base body 02 has several circumferential stabilizing rings 05, which prevent deformation of the base body even at high temperatures.
[0026] Furthermore, on a second end face of the base body 02, which represents its lower end face during operation, foot receptacles 06 are arranged, into which three feet 11 are mounted. The feet are preferably positioned at an angle of 15°-45° to the longitudinal axis of the base body and ensure secure stability even on surfaces that are not perfectly level. The feet also ensure that the base of the base body, i.e. the second end face, which becomes hot during operation, does not have direct contact with the surface, thus protecting it from excessive heat.
[0027] A connecting ring 07 is arranged, for example, welded, at the central smoke exhaust opening 03. The connecting ring 07 allows the attachment of a first end of a first smoke exhaust pipe 08 during operation. At the same time, the inside diameter of the connecting ring and the smoke exhaust opening 03 is selected such that the first smoke exhaust pipe 08 can be sunk into the base body during transport.
[0028] Furthermore, a second smoke exhaust pipe 09 is arranged at its first end, for example, by a plug-in connection, at the second end of the first smoke exhaust pipe 08. The first smoke exhaust pipe 08 has an inner diameter that is slightly larger than the outer diameter of the second smoke exhaust pipe 09, so that the second smoke exhaust pipe 09 can be inserted into the first smoke exhaust pipe 08 when the transport state is to be established.
[0029] The stainless steel beer keg 02, the first smoke exhaust pipe 08 and the second smoke exhaust pipe 09 have approximately the same length in the axial direction.
[0030] Fig. 2 shows the embodiment according to Fig. 1 In transport condition. Here, the first smoke exhaust pipe 08 is largely recessed into the stainless steel beer keg 02, and the second smoke exhaust pipe 09 is largely recessed into the first smoke exhaust pipe 08. The three disassembled feet 11 are arranged within the second smoke exhaust pipe 09, so that all components can be transported in a compact, nested arrangement. List of reference symbols
