Description

DOMAINE TECHNIQUE DE L'INVENTION

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of construction, and more particularly concerns a window or French window with first and second sliding openings.

[0002] A window or French window is known with first and second openings arranged to slide in two respective sliding directions parallel to each other, the first and second openings respectively comprising a first and a second upright extending respectively in a first longitudinal direction and a second longitudinal direction, said first and second uprights being intended to come into correspondence with each other to form a central window or French window upright when the first and second openings are in the closed position in which they have the smallest mutual overlap, said first and second openings being carried by rolling means allowing them to slide.

[0003] FR 2 947 853 A1 describes a window or French window with two openings according to the preamble of claim 1. Document FR 2 810 066 A1 describes on its figure 12 a window or French window according to the preamble of claim 1.

[0004] To ensure a seal at the central upright, this document provides a seal arranged to be inserted between the first and second uprights when the first and second openings are in the closed position.

[0005] When the openings are brought into the closed position, the seal generally closes (with a slight clearance) the gap between the first and second uprights. The seal can sometimes even be slightly compressed between the first and second uprights. The seal obtained between the first and second uprights remains unsatisfactory, however, particularly in windy conditions.

[0006] To improve the sealing of a window or similar patio door, it has been proposed: rolling means carrying the first opening and allowing movement of the first opening transversely to the sliding direction, transverse movement means capable of causing relative movement of the first opening transversely to the sliding direction.

[0007] Such a window or patio door is, for example, marketed by Roto Frank Fenster- und Türtechnologie GmbH under the registered trademark "Roto Patio Inowa". The transverse displacement of the first sash allows for better compression of the seal between the first and second uprights. However, the second sash is fixed (not sliding), which is very restrictive in use, and the hardware includes complex, bulky and expensive components. EXPOSE DE L'INVENTION

[0008] A problem addressed by the present invention is to provide a window or French window with first and second sliding openings having improved sealing at its central upright.

[0009] At the same time, the invention aims to provide such a window or French window whose openings can be manipulated in any order, without risk of damage.

[0010] According to another aspect, the invention aims to provide such a window or French window with inexpensive, compact hardware that is easy to integrate into the openings.

[0011] To achieve these and other objects, the invention provides a window or French window according to claim 1.

[0012] In the initial state, the first and second openings are in the closed position. The first locking member is in the first position and the second locking member is in the close position. The first and second locking members are then supported in the transverse direction by means of their respective first and second support surfaces which thus hold the first and second uprights of the openings at a first close distance from each other in the transverse direction, compressing the seal and thus ensuring a good seal.

[0013] When a user begins to manipulate the first opening, for example using a rotary handle carried by the first opening, the first locking member is moved to its second position (i.e. further away from the first upright). The first bearing surface is then moved away from the first upright in the transverse direction. The first upright can then be moved away in the transverse direction from the second upright (for example by the seal elastically returning to its pre-compression shape and / or by a spreading force induced by the user on the first opening), to be arranged at a second distance (greater than the first distance) from the second upright, then the first opening can be slid relative to the second opening in the sliding direction.

[0014] When the user wishes to close the window or French window, he brings the first opening leaf back so as to place the first and second opening leaves in the closed position. The first and second bearing surfaces are then in correspondence with each other in the transverse direction. The user then applies a reverse maneuver to the first opening leaf, for example using the rotary handle carried by the first opening leaf, to move the first locking member to its first position (i.e. closer to the first upright).During this movement, the first bearing surface comes to bear against the second bearing surface in the transverse direction (if it is not already), and the movement of the first locking member to its first position produces a relative approximation of the first and second uprights in the transverse direction, once again ensuring the compression of the seal between the two uprights to guarantee a good seal.

[0015] When the user begins to manipulate the second opening, for example using a rotary handle carried by the second opening, the second locking member is moved to its remote position. The second bearing surface is then moved away from the first bearing surface in the second longitudinal direction. The second upright can then be moved away in the transverse direction from the first upright (for example by the seal which elastically returns to its pre-compression shape and / or by a spreading force induced by the user on the second opening), then the second opening can be slid relative to the first opening in the sliding direction.

[0016] When the user wishes to close the window or French window, he brings the second opening leaf back so as to place the first and second opening leaves in the closed position. The first and second bearing surfaces are then in correspondence with each other in the second longitudinal direction. The user then applies a reverse maneuver to the second opening leaf, for example using the rotary handle carried by the second opening leaf, to move the second locking member to its close position (i.e. closer to the first locking member).During this movement, the second bearing surface comes to bear against the first bearing surface in the transverse direction (if it is not already), and the movement of the second locking member to its close position produces a relative bringing together of the first and second uprights in the transverse direction, once again ensuring the compression of the seal between the two uprights to guarantee a good seal.

[0017] This provides a window or French window with first and second sliding sashes, with improved sealing at its central jamb, and whose sashes can be operated in any order, without risk of damage. The mechanical movements to be ensured are relatively simple, so that the hardware can be simple, compact and inexpensive.

[0018] Preferably, it can be provided that: the movement of the first locking member between its first and second positions is controlled by a first cremone bolt arranged in the first upright, and / or the movement of the second locking member between its distant and close positions is controlled by a second cremone bolt arranged in the second upright, the second locking member preferably being integral with the second cremone bolt.

[0019] Using the first and / or second cremone bolt, most often already present on the first and second openings, is advantageous for limiting the addition of components and thus reducing the size and cost.

[0020] Preferably, the second bearing surface may be oblique relative to the second longitudinal direction and oriented towards the second upright. The first and second bearing surfaces thus cooperate in a simple manner by wedge effect to bring the first and second uprights together in the transverse direction when the first locking member is in the first position and the second locking member is moved towards its close position.

[0021] Advantageously, we can provide that: the window or French window comprises an actuating member, carried by the first upright and movable by sliding along the first upright between a proximal position and a distal position, the actuating member being further away from the first locking member when it is in the distal position, the first locking member and the actuating member are adapted to bear against each other according to third and fourth respective bearing surfaces shaped so that the movement of the actuating member towards its proximal position, when the first locking member is in the second position, causes a movement of the first locking member towards its first position.

[0022] The actuating member thus has a similar operation to the second locking member, which allows it to be given a similar, or even identical, shape to the second locking member. The openings can thus be identical, apart from the first locking member, for easy industrialization of the window or French window.

[0023] Preferably, the actuating member and the second locking member may have identical shapes.

[0024] For a simple structure, the actuating member can be attached to the first cremone bolt.

[0025] Still for the sake of simplicity of structure, precision of operation but also compactness, the first locking member can preferably be pivotally articulated on the first upright in a pivot plane perpendicular to the sliding directions.

[0026] Advantageously, we can provide that: the first locking member has, in the pivoting plane, a substantially U-shape with first and second substantially parallel branches extending from and away from a base, the first branch being closer to the first upright, the first branch carries the third bearing surface cooperating with the fourth bearing surface of the actuating member, the second branch carries the first bearing surface cooperating with the second bearing surface of the second locking member, elastic return means permanently urge the first locking member towards its second position to move it into the second position when the actuating member is moved towards its distal position.

[0027] The first locking member thus has a simple structure and operation. Its permanent return to the second position ensures automatic maintenance, when the actuating member is in the distal position, in a position allowing it to receive the second locking member by simple translation in the sliding direction. This limits the risks of conflict between the first and second locking members when handling the first and second openings. DESCRIPTION SOMMAIRE DES DESSINS

DESCRIPTION DES MODES DE REALISATION PREFERES

[0029] When identical reference numerals are used in more than one embodiment of the invention, these reference numerals designate identical or similar elements in each of the embodiments.

[0030] On the figures 1 à 15 an embodiment of a French window 1 according to the invention is illustrated.

[0031] We see on the figures 1 And 2that the French window 1 comprises a first opening 2 and a second opening 3 arranged to slide relative to a frame 4 in two respective sliding directions parallel to direction II (therefore, reference will subsequently be made to “sliding direction(s) II” for one and / or the other of the openings 2 and 3).

[0032] The first opening 2 and the second opening 3 respectively comprise a first upright 5 and a second upright 6 extending respectively in a first longitudinal direction II-II and a second longitudinal direction III-III. The first and second longitudinal directions II-II and III-III are parallel to each other, and are in practice intended to be vertical while the sliding directions II are intended to be horizontal.

[0033] The first 5 and second 6 uprights are intended to correspond to each other to form a central upright 7 of French window 1 when the first 2 and second 3 openings are in the closed position. Said closed position is illustrated in the figure 2 : this is the position in which the first 2 and second 3 openings have the smallest mutual overlap. They then cooperate to close the entire opening defined by the frame 4.

[0034] To allow them to slide, the first 2 and second 3 openings are carried by rolling means 8. An example of rolling means 8 is illustrated in the figures 3 et 4 .

[0035] On these figures 3 et 4 , it can be seen that the rolling means 8 comprise a housing 9 in which are contained two rollers 10a and 10b integral with each other and arranged to pivot relative to the housing 9 around a pivot axis IV-IV. The two rollers 10a and 10b are also arranged to slide along the pivot axis IV-IV to be movable in translation between the two longitudinal main walls 9a and 9b of the housing 9 according to a movement illustrated by the double arrow 11. The connection between the rollers 10a and 10b and the housing 9 is thus a sliding pivot of axis IV-IV.

[0036] The housing 9 is intended to be fixed under the first 2 and second 3 openings. Thanks to the translational movable nature of the rollers 10a and 10b relative to the housing 9, the rolling means 8 carrying the first 2 and second 3 openings allow a movement of the first 2 and second 3 openings in a transverse direction VV (perpendicular to the first II-II and second III-III longitudinal directions, and perpendicular to the sliding direction II).

[0037] We see more particularly on the figures 5 And 8 in particular that the French window 1 comprises at least one elastically compressible seal arranged so as to be inserted between the first 5 and second 6 uprights when the first 2 and second 3 openings are in the closed position. In this case, the French window 1 comprises a first seal 12 carried by the first upright 5 and a second seal 13 carried by the second upright 6.

[0038] We see more particularly on the figure 5 that the French window 1 further comprises a first locking member 14, carried by the first upright 5. On the figure 5 , the first upright 5 is interrupted by cutting along a plane perpendicular to the first longitudinal direction II-II, so that the first locking member 14 appears “floating”. In reality, the first locking member 14 is attached and fixed to the first upright 5 by means of two screws 35 ( figure 8 ) engaged in the transverse direction VV.

[0039] The first locking member 14 is movable in the transverse direction VV perpendicular to the first longitudinal direction II-II and to the sliding direction II between a first position ( figures 5 , 9 And 13 ) closer to the first amount 5 and a second position ( figures 11 And 15 ) further from the first amount 5.

[0040] We see more particularly on the figure 5 that the French window 1 further comprises a second locking member 15 carried by the second upright 6 and movable by sliding along the second upright 6 between a close position ( figures 5 , 9 And 11 ) and a distant position ( figures 11 And 15 ), the second locking member 15 being further away from the first locking member 14 when it is in the remote position.

[0041] The first 14 and second 15 locking members are adapted to bear against each other according to respective first S1 and second S2 bearing surfaces shaped so that: a. the movement of the second locking member 15 towards its close position, when the first locking member 14 is in the first position, causes the first 5 and second 6 uprights to move closer together in the transverse direction VV (see the figures 12 et 13 on the one hand, and the figures 8 et 9 on the other hand), b. the movement of the first locking member 14 towards its first position, when the second locking member 15 is in the close position, causes the first 5 and second 6 uprights to move closer together in the transverse direction VV (see the figures 10 et 11 on the one hand, and the figures 8 et 9 on the other hand).

[0042] The movement of the first locking member 14 between its first and second positions is controlled by a first cremone bolt 16 arranged in the first upright 5. The first cremone bolt 16 is movable in the first longitudinal direction II-II according to a bidirectional translation movement illustrated by the double arrow 17. The movement of the first cremone bolt 16 is controlled by the rotation of a first handle 28 carried by the first opening 2.

[0043] The movement of the second locking member 15 between its distant and close positions is controlled by a second cremone bolt 18 arranged in the second upright 6. The second cremone bolt 18 is movable in the second longitudinal direction III-III according to a bidirectional translation movement illustrated by the double arrow 19. In practice, the second locking member 15 is integral with the second cremone bolt 18. The movement of the second cremone bolt 18 is controlled by the rotation of a second handle 29 carried by the second opening 3.

[0044] We see on the figures 5 , 9 , 11 , 13 And 15 that the second bearing surface S2 is oblique relative to the second longitudinal direction III-III and oriented towards the second upright 6.

[0045] It can also be seen in these figures that the first bearing surface S1 is oblique relative to the first longitudinal direction III-III and oriented towards the first upright 5.

[0046] We see in these same figures that the French window 1 comprises an actuating member 20, carried by the first upright 5 and movable by sliding along the first upright 5 between a proximal position ( figures 5 , 9 And 13 ) and a distal position ( figures 11 And 15 ), the actuating member 20 being further away from the first locking member 14 when it is in the distal position.

[0047] The first locking member 14 and the actuating member 20 are adapted to bear against each other along respective third S3 and fourth S4 bearing surfaces shaped so that the movement of the actuating member 20 towards its proximal position, when the first locking member 14 is in the second position, causes a movement of the first locking member 14 towards its first position.

[0048] In practice, we see on the figures 9 , 11 , 13 And 15 that : the third bearing surface S3 is oblique to the first longitudinal direction III-III and oriented away from the first upright 5, the fourth bearing surface S4 is oblique to the first longitudinal direction III-III and oriented towards the first upright 5.

[0049] The actuating member 20 is integral with the first cremone bolt 16 and is thus movable in the first longitudinal direction II-II according to the bidirectional translation movement illustrated by the double arrow 17.

[0050] It can be seen that the actuating member 20 and the second locking member 15 have identical shapes.

[0051] The first locking member 14 is pivotally articulated on the first upright 5 in a pivot plane P perpendicular to the sliding direction II.

[0052] The first locking member 14 is visible on the figures 5 , 6 , 7 , 9 , 11 , 13 And 15 , and its constitution is more particularly perceptible on the figures 6 et 7 .

[0053] In the pivot plane P, the first locking member 14 has a substantially U-shape with a first branch 21 and a second branch 22 substantially parallel to each other and extending from and away from a base 23. The first branch 21 is closer to the first upright 5.

[0054] The first branch 21 carries the third bearing surface S3 cooperating with the fourth bearing surface S4 of the actuating member 20, while the second branch 22 carries the first bearing surface S1 cooperating with the second bearing surface S2 of the second locking member 15.

[0055] Elastic return means 24 (here a helical spring, figures 6 et 7 ) continuously urge the first locking member 14 towards its second position to move it to the second position when the actuating member 20 is moved towards its distal position.

[0056] The first locking member 14 is pivotally articulated around an axis 25 relative to a fixing lug 26 intended to be attached and fixed to the first upright 5 by means of two transverse screws 35 ( figure 8 ) engaged in the holes 26a and 26b. Thus, when the fixing lug 26 is fixed on the first upright 5, the first locking member 14 is pivotally articulated on the first upright 5 in the pivot plane P perpendicular to the sliding direction II.

[0057] The operation of French window 1 will now be explained in connection with the figures 8 à 15 .

[0058] In the initial state illustrated on the figures 8 et 9 , the first 2 and second 3 openings are in the closed position ( figure 2 ). The first 5 and second 6 uprights are arranged in correspondence with each other in the transverse direction VV to form a central upright 7 of a French window 1. The first locking member 14 is in the first position and the second locking member 15 is in the close position. The first 14 and second 15 locking members are then supported in the transverse direction VV by means of their respective first S1 and second S2 support surfaces which thus hold the first 5 and second 6 uprights (and therefore the openings 2 and 3) at a first distance D1 from each other in the transverse direction VV. This distance D1 is chosen in such a way that the first 12 and second 13 seals are compressed between the first 5 and second 6 uprights in the transverse direction VV.

[0059] When a user begins by manipulating the first opening 2, he rotates the first handle 28 through an angular travel of 180 degrees ( figure 11 ). The first cremone bolt 16 slides and then moves the actuating member 20 to its distal position. The first locking member 14 is released from the actuating member 20, so that the elastic return means 24 move the first locking member 14 to its second position (i.e. further away from the first upright 5). The first bearing surface S1 is then moved away from the first upright 5 in the transverse direction VV. We are then in the configuration illustrated in the figures 10 et 11 .

[0060] The first upright 5 can then be moved relatively apart in the transverse direction VV away from the second upright 6 (in particular by the first 12 and second 13 seals which elastically return to their pre-compression shape and / or by a separation force induced by the user on the first opening 2 when manipulating the first handle 28), to be arranged at a second distance D2 (greater than the first distance D1) from the second upright 6. The distance D2 is chosen in such a way that the first 12 and second 13 seals are not (or are only slightly) compressed between the first 5 and second 6 uprights in the transverse direction VV.

[0061] The first opening 2 can then be slid relative to the second opening 3 in the sliding direction II according to a translational movement illustrated by the arrow 30.

[0062] When the first opening 2 slides, the first locking member 14 escapes the second locking member 15 by translation in the sliding direction II, so that the first bearing surface S1 is no longer in correspondence with the second bearing surface S2 in the transverse direction VV.

[0063] When the user wishes to close the French window 1, he brings the first opening 2 back in a translational movement opposite to that illustrated by the arrow 30, so as to place the first 2 and second 3 openings in the closed position ( figure 2 ). The first S1 and second S2 bearing surfaces are thus brought into correspondence with each other in the transverse direction VV. We then find ourselves in the configuration illustrated in the figures 10 et 11 .

[0064] The user then applies a reverse maneuver on the first rotary handle 28 carried by the first opening 2: the first cremone bolt 16 moves the actuating member 20 towards its proximal position. During this movement, the actuating member 20 comes into contact along the fourth bearing surface S4 on the third bearing surface S3 of the first locking member 14, which causes the latter to move (pivot) towards its first position (i.e. closer to the first upright 5).When the first locking member 14 pivots towards its first position, the first bearing surface S1 comes to bear against the second bearing surface S2 in the transverse direction VV and, the first locking member 14 continuing to pivot to its first position, there is a relative approach of the first 5 and second 6 uprights in the transverse direction VV, which again ensures compression of the joints 12 and 13 between the two uprights 5 and 6. We are then again in the configuration illustrated in the . figures 8 et 9 .

[0065] Starting from the initial state illustrated on the figures 8 et 9 , the user can start by manipulating the second opening 3. To do this, he rotates the second handle 29 through an angular travel of 180 degrees ( figure 13 ). The second cremone bolt 18 then moves the second locking member 15 to its remote position ( figure 13 ).

[0066] The second upright 6 can then be moved relatively apart in the transverse direction VV away from the first upright 5 (in particular by the first 12 and second 13 seals which elastically return to their pre-compression shape and / or by a separation force induced by the user on the second opening 3 when manipulating the second handle 29), to be arranged at a second distance D2 (greater than the first distance D1) from the first upright 5. The distance D2 is chosen in such a way that the first 12 and second 13 seals are not (or are only slightly) compressed between the first 5 and second 6 uprights in the transverse direction VV. We then find ourselves in the configuration illustrated in the figures 12 et 13 The second opening 3 can be slid relative to the first opening 2 in the sliding direction II according to a translational movement illustrated by the arrow 31.

[0067] When the second opening 3 slides, the second locking member 15 is moved by translation in the sliding direction II, so that the second bearing surface S2 is no longer in correspondence with the first bearing surface S1 in the second longitudinal direction III-III.

[0068] When the user wishes to close the French window 1, he brings the second opening leaf 3 back in a translational movement opposite to that illustrated by the arrow 31, so as to place the first 2 and second 3 opening leaves in the closed position ( figure 2 ). The first S1 and second S2 bearing surfaces are thus brought into correspondence with each other along the second longitudinal direction III-III. We then find ourselves in the configuration illustrated in the figures 12 et 13 .

[0069] The user then applies a reverse maneuver on the second rotary handle 29 carried by the second opening 3: the second cremone bolt 18 slides and moves the second locking member 15 towards its close position. During this movement, the second locking member 15 comes into contact along its second bearing surface S2 with the first bearing surface S1 of the first locking member 14, so that a relative approach of the first 5 and second 6 uprights occurs along the transverse direction VV, again ensuring compression of the joints 12 and 13 between the two uprights 5 and 6. We are then again in the configuration illustrated in the figures 8 et 9 .

[0070] We can thus see that the user can manipulate either of the openings 2 and 3 without any problem, and without any imposed order.

[0071] There is also no disadvantage in the user operating the first and second handles 28 and 29 of the first 2 and second 3 openings. In such a case: the actuating member 20 is brought into the distal position, so that the first locking member 14 is moved into the second position by the elastic return means 24, and the second locking member 15 is brought into the remote position.

[0072] We are then in the configuration illustrated on the figures 14 et 15 , in which the first 5 and second 6 uprights are arranged at a second distance D2 from each other, allowing the first 12 and second 13 seals not to be (or to be only slightly) compressed between the first 5 and second 6 uprights. The user can choose to slide the second opening 3 relative to the first opening 2 in the sliding direction II according to a translational movement illustrated by the arrow 31, or slide the first opening 2 relative to the second opening 3 in the sliding direction II according to a translational movement illustrated by the arrow 30. During one and / or the other of these sliding operations, no conflict occurs between the first locking member 14, the second locking member 15 and the actuating member 20.

[0073] When the user wishes to close the French window 1, he brings the first 2 and / or second 3 opening back to the closed position ( figure 2 ). We are then in the configuration illustrated on the figures 14 et 15 .

[0074] If the user starts to operate the first handle 28, we find ourselves in the configuration illustrated in the figures 12 et 13 , and the user then has to operate the second handle 29 to achieve the initial configuration of the figures 8 et 9 by compressing the first 12 and second 13 joints.

[0075] If the user starts to operate the second handle 29, we find ourselves in the configuration illustrated in the figures 10 and 11 , and the user then has to operate the first handle 28 to achieve the initial configuration of the figures 8 and 9 by compressing the first 12 and second 13 joints.

[0076] The present invention is not limited to the embodiments which have been explicitly described, but it includes the various variations and generalizations contained within the scope of the following claims.

2. Window or French window (1) according to Claim 1, characterized in that: - the movement of the first locking member (14) between its first and second positions is controlled by a first espagnolette (16) arranged in the first upright (5), and / or - the movement of the second locking member (15) between its further-away and closer positions is controlled by a second espagnolette (18) arranged in the second upright (6), the second locking member (15) preferably being secured to the second espagnolette (18).

3. Window or French window (1) according to either of Claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the second abutment surface (S2) is oblique with respect to the second longitudinal direction (III-III) and oriented towards the second upright (6).

4. Window or French window (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that: - it has an actuating member (20), borne by the first upright (5) and able to slide along the first upright (5) between a proximal position and a distal position, the actuating member (20) being further away from the first locking member (14) when it is in the distal position, - the first locking member (14) and the actuating member (20) are designed to come into abutment against one another at respective third (S3) and fourth (S4) abutment surfaces, which are configured such that the movement of the actuating member (20) towards its proximal position, when the first locking member (14) is in the second position, causes the first locking member (14) to move towards its first position.

5. Window or French window (1) according to Claim 4, characterized in that the actuating member (20) is secured to the first espagnolette (16).

6. Window or French window (1) according to any one of Claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the first locking member (14) is articulated so as to pivot on the first upright (5) in a pivot plane (P) perpendicular to the sliding directions (I-I).

7. Window or French window (1) according to Claim 6, when dependent on Claim 4 or 5, characterized in that: - the first locking member (14) is, in the pivot plane (P), substantially U-shaped, with substantially parallel first (21) and second (22) branches extending from and away from a base (23), the first branch (21) being closer to the first upright (5), - the first branch (21) bears the third abutment surface (S3) interacting with the fourth abutment surface (S4) of the actuating member (20), - the second branch (22) bears the first abutment surface (S1) interacting with the second abutment surface (S2) of the second locking member (15), - elastic return means (24) permanently bias the first locking member (14) towards its second position in order to move it into the second position when the actuating member (20) is moved towards its distal position.
