Description

[0001] The invention relates to an arrangement for a printing press and a method for producing an arrangement for a printing press. background

[0002] Printing plate cylinders, or impression cylinders for short, are used in printing presses to accommodate at least one printing sleeve, optionally using a printing adapter, or to support a printed image, thus forming an assembly for a printing press. Such an assembly with a printing plate cylinder and printing sleeve can then be used in a printing press.

[0003] In the document DE 10 2004 051 041 B3, a printing plate cylinder is disclosed which has a movable, male register element for positioning or registering printing adapters, which is in operative connection with an associated female counterpart.

[0004] The document EP 0 782 919 B1 discloses an actuating mechanism within a printing plate cylinder which can be driven pneumatically.

[0005] Document EP 3 640 031 A1 describes a cylinder with a movable stop, pin, or stud that, in a rest position, allows hollow cylinders to slide over it. In an active position, it projects beyond the cylinder's outer surface. A stop can be moved from a rest position to an active position and vice versa via a rotary movement. Document EP 3 867 068 A1 discloses a similar device.

[0006] The document EP 0 510 744 B1 discloses possibilities for registering printing sleeves using a register device.

[0007] Documents US 6,283,026 B1 and FR 2 789 626A1 describe valve devices with which the formation of air cushions between printing cylinders and sleeves can be controlled for positioning components relative to one another. WO2016135552 and US5209163 also disclose pins for securing printing sleeves to a printing cylinder.

[0008] The various documents describe means that essentially serve to position or register printing sleeves on a cylinder body of the printing plate cylinder. Alternatively, printing sleeves can be equipped with end-face sealing rings to seal and thus bridge a spatial supply gap, which may be formed as a gap, between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve with regard to the forwarding of compressed air into the printing adapter, as disclosed, for example, in document DE 20 2017 103 425 U1. Summary

[0009] The object of the invention is to provide an arrangement for a printing machine with a printing plate cylinder and a method for manufacturing it, which enable an improved functional transmission of a fluid, electrical signals and / or electrical energy between the printing plate cylinder and a printing sleeve arranged thereon.

[0010] To achieve this, an arrangement for a printing press according to independent claim 1 and a method for producing an arrangement for a printing press according to independent claim 14 are provided. Embodiments are the subject of dependent subclaims.

[0011] According to one aspect, an arrangement for a printing press is provided, comprising: a printing plate cylinder formed with a cylinder body; a printing sleeve or printing adapter arranged on an outer surface of the cylinder body; and a transmission device having a connection point on the printing plate cylinder side and a connection point on the printing sleeve side, which can be connected by means of a connecting element to form a transmission connection. The connecting element is displaceable between a retracted position, in which the transmission connection is interrupted, and an extended position, in which the transmission connection is configured for at least one of the following transmissions: transmission of a fluid, transmission of signals, and transmission of electrical energy.

[0012] According to a further aspect, a method for producing an arrangement for a printing press is provided, comprising the following steps: providing a printing plate cylinder with a cylinder body; providing a printing sleeve; arranging the printing sleeve on an outer surface of the cylinder body of the printing plate cylinder in an end position;and bridging the gap by means of a transmission device, wherein a transmission connection bridging the gap is formed between a connection point on the printing plate cylinder side and a connection point on the printing sleeve side by means of a connecting element of the transmission device, and the connecting element is displaced between a retracted position in which the transmission connection is interrupted and an extended position in which the transmission connection, bridging the gap between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve, is formed for at least one of the following transmissions: transmission of a fluid, transmission of signals and transmission of electrical energy.;

[0013] With the help of the transmission device, a fluid, electrical signals, and / or electrical energy can be efficiently transmitted between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve arranged thereon, depending on the desired application. In particular, this makes it possible to supply the printing sleeve with the fluid, electrical signals, and / or electrical energy, which is why the transmission device can be used to provide a supply device. The connecting element can then also be referred to as a supply element.

[0014] The transmission connection can be configured to transmit electrical and / or optical signals, for example. Measurement and / or control signals can be transmitted.

[0015] The connecting element can be formed with a retractable connecting element on the cylinder body, which, in the retracted position, is arranged so as not to protrude from the outer surface. The retractable connecting element is formed or arranged on the cylinder body. During the transition from the retracted position to the extended position, the transmission connection between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve is established. The outer surface of the cylinder body can be part of a lateral surface of the cylinder body. In the retracted position, the retractable connecting element can protrude relative to an opening surface of an opening in which the connecting element is displaceably arranged.

[0016] In the extended position, the retractable connecting element can be arranged so that it protrudes from the outer surface. While in the retracted position, which can also be referred to as the rest position, the retractable connecting element does not protrude beyond the outer surface of the cylinder body, this changes in the extended position, which can also be referred to as the active or working position, in that the retractable connecting element protrudes beyond the outer surface.

[0017] A gap may be formed between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve, and the gap may be bridged by the transmission connection formed in the extended position of the connecting element.

[0018] The gap can, for example, be formed between the outer surface of the printing plate cylinder and the inner surface of the printing sleeve.

[0019] The gap can thus be bridged with the aid of the transmission device, particularly when the printing sleeve is arranged on the printing plate cylinder in the end position. The connecting element can then be moved from the retracted position to the extended position to form the transmission connection, bridging the gap between the cylinder body / the outer surface of the cylinder body and the inner surface of the printing sleeve, or a gap within the printing plate cylinder to the inner surface of the printing sleeve, so that the transmission of a fluid, electrical signals, and / or electrical energy is enabled by means of the transmission connection. Here or in other embodiments, the transmission connection can be configured for (optionally unidirectional) transmission from the printing plate cylinder to the printing sleeve, from the printing sleeve to the printing plate cylinder, or bidirectional transmission between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve. In conjunction with the fluid, a unidirectional transmission can be implemented, for example, with a one-way valve in a fluid connection between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve.

[0020] The size of the gap between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve can be about 0.001 mm to several millimeters.

[0021] In the extended position, the retractable connecting element can be arranged so that it protrudes beyond the outer surface and bridges the gap. While the retractable connecting element does not protrude beyond the outer surface of the cylinder body in the retracted position, this changes in the extended position, with the retractable connecting element protruding beyond the outer surface and thus bridging the gap.

[0022] In an alternative embodiment, the gap or spacing can be formed only between a tip of the connecting element and the outer circumferential surface of the printing plate cylinder. The tip of the connecting element can then dock onto a bore in an inner tube of the printing sleeve. The retractable connecting element, in the extended position, can then bridge the gap that exists between the tip of the connecting element and the outer surface of the printing plate cylinder in the retracted (retracted) position of the connecting element.

[0023] A channel can be provided on the printing sleeve side, which is connected in the printing sleeve to the connection point on the printing sleeve side. Alternatively or additionally, a channel can be provided on the printing plate cylinder side, which is formed in the cylinder body and connected to the connection point on the printing plate cylinder side. If the connecting element is arranged in the extended position, it is functionally connected to the connection points on the printing plate cylinder side and the printing sleeve side and thus to at least one of the channels, so that at least one of the transmission types can be implemented.

[0024] The connecting element can have an element channel configured to connect, at least in the extended position of the connecting element, to the channel on the printing plate cylinder side and / or the channel on the printing sleeve side. In this way, a respective channel connection can be formed on the printing plate cylinder side and the printing sleeve side via the connecting element. The element channel can be configured to bridge the gap, at least in the extended position.

[0025] The element channel, the printing plate cylinder-side channel, and / or the printing sleeve-side channel can be configured according to at least one of the following channel types: fluid channel, line channel, and cable channel. The fluid channel is configured to be flowed through by the fluid for transmission (flow channel). The line channel is configured to transmit at least signals, for example, for data transmission (data signal channel), and can have transmission elements made of, for example, electrically conductive material for this purpose. Optical transmission of signals can also be provided. The cable channel is configured to accommodate one or more lines or cables that can be used to transmit the signals and / or the electrical energy.

[0026] The connection point on the printing plate cylinder side, the connection point on the printing sleeve side, and the connecting element can be configured to form a fluid-conducting connection, for example, for transmitting air. In one embodiment, the connection point on the printing plate cylinder side, the connection point on the printing sleeve side, and the connecting element are configured to form a fluid-conducting connection that bridges the gap.

[0027] The connection point on the printing plate cylinder side, the connection point on the printing sleeve side, and the connecting element can be configured to form an electrically conductive connection. To form the electrically conductive connection, elements made of electrically conductive material on the printing plate cylinder side and the printing sleeve side can be electrically connected by means of the connecting element. In one embodiment, the connection point on the printing plate cylinder side, the connection point on the printing sleeve side, and the connecting element can be configured to form an electrically conductive connection that bridges the gap.

[0028] The connecting element can be connected to the connection point on the printing plate cylinder side and / or the connection point on the printing sleeve side via a respective sealing element. With the help of the sealing element, a fluid-tight connection can be formed, for example.

[0029] The gap can extend between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve relative to the cylinder body along at least one of the following directions: axial direction and radial direction. The transfer connection can be formed substantially transversely to the direction of extension of the gap, so that the transfer connection extends in the radial direction when the gap extends in the axial direction. Alternatively, the transfer connection extends in the axial direction when the gap extends in the radial direction.

[0030] The connecting element may be displaceable for displacement between the retracted and extended positions with respect to the cylinder body along at least one of the following directions: axial direction and radial direction.

[0031] The printing plate cylinder can be configured for use in a rotary printing press, particularly a flexographic printing press. The printing plate cylinder can also be configured for use in an offset printing press, a gravure printing press, or a digital printing press. Flexographic printing is a direct relief printing process in which flexible printing plates / sleeves made of photopolymer or rubber are used on adapters or sleeves. Flexographic printing can be used to print on many materials, such as foils, paper, cardboard, and the like, which cannot be printed on with other printing processes or are only printable to a limited extent.

[0032] If the transmission connection is configured for a compressed air supply, the outlet opening of the connecting or supply element can be smaller than the inlet opening of an air supply within the printing plate cylinder. This ensures that a sufficiently large (axial) force can be provided to allow the connecting or supply element to extend from the cylinder body into the extended position. For example, the piston force of the connecting element can be sufficiently high to compress a return spring within the connecting or supply device, allowing the connecting element to form a connection with the printing sleeve that is as airtight as possible.

[0033] The connection element can be moved from the retracted to the extended position against the restoring force of a restoring device. In one embodiment, the connection element can automatically return from the extended to the retracted position using this restoring force. The restoring device can be formed, for example, by a spring element that provides a spring restoring force. For example, the connection element can be moved into the extended position against the spring force of a coil spring.

[0034] In the end position, the pressure sleeve is secured to the cylinder body by means of a registration device, for example, it is mounted in a rotationally fixed manner and fixed in the axial direction.

[0035] The printing sleeve can be arranged detachably on the printing plate cylinder so that different printing sleeves can be arranged optionally on the printing plate cylinder.

[0036] One or more internal channels can be formed in the cylinder body of the printing plate cylinder and / or the printing sleeve, which are connected to the transmission device, at least when the transmission element is moved into the extended position. In the retracted position, the connecting element of the transmission device can be connected to an internal channel of the cylinder body / printing sleeve if the connecting element is arranged on the cylinder body / printing sleeve.

[0037] A tip of the connecting element can be conical or hemispherical, alternatively, for example, cylindrical or rectangular.

[0038] To prevent leaks during the bridge between the printing plate cylinder and the printing sleeve, at least one sealing element can be arranged either in the printing sleeve or a printing adapter and / or on the tip of the connecting element. For example, a nitrile rubber or a fluororubber element can be used as the sealing element. The material of the round sealing element can have a Shore A hardness of approximately 70. The fluororubber material is resistant to heat, oil, aging, abrasion, ozone, fuel, and aggressive chemicals. Furthermore, the sealing element provides a strong seal and good airtightness for a wide variety of applications, such as plumbing, machinery, hydraulics, and pneumatics. Alternatively, specially additively manufactured sealing elements (using 3D printing) can also be used.

[0039] In the case of a transmission of electrical energy and / or signals, at least one connecting or supply device can be provided within a printing plate cylinder to provide both polarities (plus, minus). A base body of the connecting or supply elements can be electrically insulating, and an electrically conductive cylindrical pin can be arranged inside.

[0040] Electrically insulated conductors can be laid in the respective air ducts of the printing plate cylinder and printing sleeve, which are ultimately connected to the electrically conductive cylinder pin within the connecting element.

[0041] A mounting on the printing sleeve can consist of an electrically insulating sleeve with an electrically conductive cylindrical pin located inside, which in turn is connected to an electrically insulated conductor. This ensures that no voltage is present in direct contact with the printing plate cylinder or in the printing sleeve.

[0042] Alternatively, a receptacle or a counterpart as well as the connecting element can be designed for an electrical supply as well as for a signal supply and at the same time for the transmission of compressed air.

[0043] With such an electrical and / or signal supply device, sensors, measuring instruments, data processing systems, and actuators within a print adapter / print sleeve can be supplied with power and data can be transmitted to the rotary printing press. This opens up new fields of application for such products within a rotary printing press, for example, for collecting data, especially operating data, and / or for predictive analytics.

[0044] In connection with the method for producing the arrangement for a printing press with the printing plate cylinder, the embodiments explained above in connection with the printing plate cylinder can be provided accordingly. Description of implementation examples

The pressure adapter 3 can be supplied with compressed air via the transmission or supply device 1. An inner tube of the pressure adapter 3 is formed here continuously up to the front edge of the pressure adapter 3.

[0054] In this embodiment, a gap 11 is formed within the printing plate cylinder 2 when the connecting element 5, as in Fig. 8shown, is arranged in the retracted or retracted position, and extends within the cylinder body 2a from a front tip 5a of the connecting element 5 to the outer surface 2b, on which the pressure adapter 3 is arranged with its inner surface in contact. In the extended position, the connecting element bridges this gap 11 (this distance) to thus form the transmission connection.
