Claims

1. An armrest system (10) for an armchair (100), said system comprising: - an armrest (12) having an upright (20) extending in a substantially vertical longitudinal direction (L) and a support element (14) extending transversely to said upright and on which a user can rest his elbow; and - a tray (40) comprising an opening (42) passing through the tray and defining a housing (44) configured to receive said armrest upright for mounting said tray to said upright, said tray being blocked transversely to said upright by shape cooperation between said housing and said upright.

2. The armrest system according to claim 1, wherein said armrest (12) upright (20) comprises a mounting base (24) and a movable rod (22) slidably mounted with respect to said mounting base in said longitudinal direction (L), said tray (40) being mounted to said mounting base.

3. The armrest system according to claim 2, wherein the cross-section of the mounting base (24), considered in a plane (P) perpendicular to the longitudinal direction (L) of the upright (20), corresponds to the shape of the housing (44) of the tray (40) considered in said plane.

4. The armrest system according to claim 2 or 3, wherein said mounting base (24) has a rear face (32) extending parallel to said longitudinal direction (L) and wherein said tray (40) has at least one rear portion (48) coming into contact with said rear face of the mounting base.

The armrest system according to claim 4, wherein said rear portion (48) of the tray (40) comprises a first wing (50) and a second wing (52), said first wing contacting a first side edge (32a) of said rear face (32) of the mounting base (24) while the second wing contacts a second side edge (32b) of the rear face of the mounting base, said first and second wings being spaced apart from one another.

6. The armrest system according to claim 5, wherein said movable rod (22) has at least one width (d), the distance (D) between the first and second wings (50, 52) being greater than said width.

The armrest system according to any one of claims 2 to 6, wherein said mounting base (24) has a curved front face (30) extending in said longitudinal direction (L), and wherein the housing (44) of the tray (40) comprises a curved inner border (47) cooperating with said front face of the mounting base.

The armrest system according to any one of claims 2 to 7, wherein said mounting base (24) comprises a rack portion (34) comprising alternating notches (35) and recesses (36), and wherein said movable rod (22) comprises at least one locking member (38) configured to engage with the recesses of the rack portion to block sliding of said movable rod with respect to said mounting base.

9. The armrest system according to any one of claims 1 to 8, wherein said housing (44) has a longitudinally truncated oblong shape.

10. The armrest system according to any one of claims 1 to 9, wherein said tray (44) is slidably mounted with respect to said upright (20) of the armrest (12), in said longitudinal direction (L).

The armrest system according to claim 10, wherein the upright (20) of the armrest (12) comprises at least one transverse stop element (54, 56) on which the tray (40) is configured to come to bear, in order to limit the sliding, downwards, of the tray with respect to said upright (20) in said longitudinal direction (40).

12. The armrest system according to any one of claims 1 to 11, wherein said tray (40) is configured to be removably mounted to the upright (20).

13. The armrest system according to any one of claims 1 to 12, further comprising an IV pole (45) mounted to said tray (40).

14. The armrest system according to any one of claims 1 to 13, further comprising a communication system provided with at least one element selected from an emergency call button, a microphone, a camera, and a speaker.

15. An armchair (100), for example a medical armchair, comprising at least one armrest system (10) according to any one of claims 1 to 14.
