Description

Technical field

[0001] The invention relates to a horizontally swiveling laundry drying device for mounting on or in front of an inside of a horizontally swiveling window frame or on or in front of a horizontally swiveling door. Technical background

[0002] Laundry drying devices for air drying are known in many embodiments and usually have several horizontal rungs, wires or cords over which the laundry is laid for drying.

[0003] The most common laundry drying devices are freestanding clothes drying racks that are set up in a room. In a bathroom, for example, there is often very little space for clothes drying racks. Also, one doesn't want to have to get out and set up a clothes drying rack every day just to hang a few bath towels that are used daily, only to have to fold it up and store it away again the same day after they're dry.

[0004] A more space-saving laundry drying device is known, for example, from CN106593260 or CN203049305. In this device, a frame with slats is attached to a wall or in front of a window via hinges at the bottom, and can be swung vertically away from the wall when needed. If the device is attached to a wall, it is correspondingly bulky and takes up space even when closed. If the device is attached in front of a window, for example, in the window opening, the window can no longer be opened, or only partially.

[0005] Document US 2,568,598 A describes a clothes drying rack for mounting on the outside of a window frame. Two elongated, parallel support arms are pivotally connected to mounting plates located near the upper corners of the frame; these pivot points allow the rack to swing outward or fold back into the window opening. Hinged supports connect the lower ends of the support arms to the windowsill area and support removable, transverse clothes rails. An adjustable spacer bar keeps the lower hinges of the support arms parallel when the rack is extended. Description of the invention

[0006] There is a need for a space-saving and easy-to-use laundry drying device that does not have the disadvantages mentioned above. This need is met by a horizontally swiveling laundry drying device with the features of claim 1 and the use of a laundry drying device according to claim 8.

[0007] The horizontally pivoting laundry drying device, for mounting on or in front of the inside of a horizontally pivoting window frame or on or in front of a horizontally pivoting door, comprises at least one rectangular sash frame consisting of two vertical longitudinal bars and two horizontal transverse bars. Several vertically spaced horizontal muntins are arranged between the two vertical longitudinal bars of the at least one rectangular sash frame and are preferably fixedly connected to the sash frame. At least one hinge with a vertical axis of rotation is fixedly connected to one of the two vertical longitudinal bars of the at least one rectangular sash frame. For horizontal pivoting of the laundry drying device, the at least one hinge can be attached to a vertical reveal in a window or door opening of a building.

[0008] When installed, at least one of the wing frames can be pivoted from a closed position, in which it lies parallel to a closed window or door, around a vertical axis of rotation in a horizontal direction to an open position. Such a horizontally pivoting clothes drying rack can be installed in a space-saving manner in a window or door opening, for example, in a bathroom. In the closed position, it does not protrude. In the open position, a window behind it can be opened without any problems. If the clothes drying rack is mounted in front of a door, it can also pivot outwards with the door.

[0009] Horizontally pivotable means that an element can be pivoted around a vertical axis in a horizontal direction. Vertically pivotable means that an element can be pivoted around a horizontal axis in a vertical direction. The horizontal and vertical directions refer to the installation position of the clothes drying device in front of or on a window frame of a building.

[0010] Preferred embodiments of the invention are specified in the dependent claims.

[0011] In some embodiments, the laundry drying device can have two rectangular wing frames, with at least one hinge attached to the outermost vertical longitudinal member of each frame. In the installed state, the two wing frames are arranged side by side, similar to the window frames of a double window. The hinges are attached to the outermost vertical longitudinal members of each frame, allowing the wing frames to swing outwards, just like window frames.

[0012] In some embodiments, the distance between two horizontal rungs can be at least 10 cm, preferably at least 15 cm. This provides sufficient space to comfortably drape the laundry over the rungs.

[0013] In some embodiments, the sash frame can have a height of at least 50 cm, preferably at least 100 cm, and a width of at least 30 cm, preferably at least 50 cm. Preferably, the sash frame has essentially the same dimensions as the window frame behind it. If the laundry drying device is designed for a door, it generally has the same dimensions as the door.

[0014] In some embodiments, the at least one sash frame can have a locking device for securing the sash frame in a closed position. In a single-sash version, the locking device can be connected to the building wall. In a double-sash version, it can be connected to the other sash frame.

[0015] In some embodiments, the at least one wing frame may have a retaining means for securing the wing frame in an open position.

[0016] In some embodiments, the at least one sash frame can have a spacer which is arranged on the window-side or door-side longitudinal strut opposite the at least one hinge or on a transverse strut. This ensures that the sash frame cannot pivot too far towards the window frame. Preferably, the spacer is arranged in the area of a corner opposite the at least one hinge.

[0017] In some embodiments, an inner frame can be arranged within the at least one sash frame, in which the several horizontal mullions are attached. The inner frame is connected to the at least one sash frame by a hinge attached to one of the horizontal cross members of the sash frame, allowing it to pivot vertically. If required, the inner frame can be pivoted vertically on its own or simultaneously with the horizontally pivoted sash frame. The hinge can be attached to the lower or upper cross member of the sash frame. A fixing device (e.g., in the form of a cord, chain, or rod) can be provided to secure the inner frame in the pivoted position.

[0018] The invention further relates to a use of a previously described laundry drying device for hanging laundry, wherein, for the horizontal pivoting of the laundry drying device, the at least one hinge of the at least one wing frame is attached to a vertical reveal in a window opening or door opening of a building.

[0019] In some embodiments, an outer circumference of the at least one sash frame can substantially correspond to an outer circumference of a window sash frame, and the at least one sash frame can be arranged on an inner side of the window. The attachment can be direct to the reveal or indirect via a strip attached to the reveal.

[0020] In some embodiments, the laundry drying device can comprise two wing frames which are arranged on the inside in front of a double window. Brief explanation of the characters

[0021] The invention will be explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments in connection with the drawing(s).
