Abstract
Description
technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of bracelets, particularly for watches. More specifically, it concerns a folding clasp for a bracelet that allows for easy adjustment of the bracelet. State of the art
[0002] Adjustable strap length devices for a comfortable fit, particularly on a watch, are well-established in the prior art. Generally, these devices can be classified into two categories. There are devices integrated between two strap components to vary the distance between them, and devices integrated into the clasp to modify the clasp's length when closed.
[0003] EP3893688 discloses an example of a device according to the first category. This device comprises an external part arranged to be attached to one of two bracelet elements and a slider attached to the other bracelet element and arranged to slide within the external part parallel to the longitudinal direction of the bracelet so as to vary the bracelet's length. The external part further comprises a wall having a hole on its inner side. The slider includes latching means and a spring arranged to cause the latching means to engage in the hole so as to immobilize the slider relative to the external part in at least one relative position, giving the bracelet a predetermined length.
[0004] The aforementioned comfort adjustment mechanism is not completely concealed, as the slider is visible on the parts of the bracelet adjacent to the clasp when the device is in its extended position. Furthermore, integrating the comfort adjustment mechanism into two bracelet components, specifically two links, requires particularly detailed and complex machining of the links housing this mechanism. Such a process is not suitable for links typically made from materials that are difficult to machine, especially ceramic links.
[0005] CH714461A2 discloses an example of a comfort device of the second category integrated into a clasp comprising a first blade hinged to one end of a second blade. The second blade carries at its other end a fastening member for a first strap strand, while the first blade is connected to the second strap strand. The device includes a cover mounted on a base plate attached to the second end of the second blade. The fastening member for the first strap strand is arranged to slide between the cover and the base plate from a first position in which the fastening member is at least partially engaged in the clasp cover, to a second position in which the fastening member is disengaged from the clasp cover. The movement of the fastening member is achieved by applying pressure to the cover in a direction perpendicular to the clasp.
[0006] This comfort device has the disadvantage of being thick and having a large number of components. Brief summary of the invention
[0007] One aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a clasp free from the limitations of the aforementioned prior art.
[0008] In particular, one aim of the present invention is therefore to provide a clasp incorporating a comforting mechanism and which is simple to manufacture.
[0009] Another objective of the present invention is to provide a clasp that has a low profile in terms of its thickness.
[0010] An additional objective of the present invention is to provide a clasp that is reliable.
[0011] These objectives are achieved, at least in part, by a folding clasp for a bracelet, comprising a frame, a first arm connected to one end of the frame and to a first connecting member, and a second connecting member connected to another end of the frame or to one end of a second arm, which is connected to the other end of the frame. The first and second connecting members are each intended to be connected to one end of a bracelet strap. The clasp further comprises a closing mechanism configured to lock the first arm, or the first and second arms, against the frame, as well as a device for adjusting the usable length of the bracelet. The adjustment device comprises at least one adjustment unit arranged within the frame. The adjustment unit comprises a slide arranged to move within a recess in the frame and connected to one end of the first arm, or of one of the first and second arms. The adjustment unit also includes a control element connected to the slide to move with it and to be able to tilt, along an axis of rotation perpendicular to the movement of the slide, in order to lock or unlock the slide within the housing in at least two indexed positions.
[0012] In one embodiment, the adjustment device comprises two adjustment units arranged on either side of a central part of said frame.
[0013] In one embodiment, the control organ of the adjustment unit includes a locking element configured to cooperate with a complementary locking element that is integral with or attached to the frame and arranged in the housing.
[0014] In one embodiment, the control member of the adjustment unit includes a cap which, optionally with the linking member, allows the housing to be concealed regardless of the indexed position.
[0015] In one embodiment, the first and second connecting elements have a thickness that is equivalent to that of the bracelet strand.
[0016] In one embodiment, the two parts have a different visual appearance. The part acting as a pusher has a different surface texture than the other part, for example, a notched surface for better grip.
[0017] In one embodiment, the adjustment unit further includes a return element acting on the control element.
[0018] In one embodiment, the control member of the adjustment unit is connected to the slide by a connecting rod whose ends are arranged to move along a blind groove or a through slot. This groove or slot extends along the lateral edges of the housing of the frame, and the slot passes completely through the lateral edges.
[0019] In one embodiment, the first and second arms each have two branches arranged to come against the lateral edges of the respective housing or housings of the frame in a closed configuration of the clasp in order to cover said through slot.
[0020] In one embodiment, the slide of the adjustment unit has two lateral arms arranged on either side of a control member attachment element. The connecting rod passes through the two lateral arms of the slide and the control member attachment element.
[0021] In one embodiment, the slide of the adjustment unit includes an attachment part located outside the housing and connected to one of the first and second arms by means of a fixing rod.
[0022] In one embodiment, in a closed clasp configuration, the adjustment unit is completely concealed by one of the first and second arms, by one of the first and second linking members, and by the strap strand to which it is connected.
[0023] In one embodiment, the locking mechanism comprises two opposing locking members and at least one return member arranged between the locking members. Each locking member comprises at least one latch for engaging a slot located at one end of the arm in either of the at least two indexed positions of the slide of the unit or each adjustment unit.
[0024] In one embodiment, the slot has a curvilinear profile. At least one latch of each locking element has a curvilinear surface whose curvature corresponds to the curvature of the slot. This curvature corresponds to the curvilinear trajectory of the slide of the adjustment unit as it moves within its housing from one to the other of said at least two indexed positions.
[0025] In one embodiment, the clasp further comprises a cover arranged to be concealed by the first and second connecting members when the slide of the unit or each adjustment unit is in one of at least two indexed positions. The cover is at least partially visible when the slide of the unit or each adjustment unit is in the other of at least two indexed positions.
[0026] Another aspect of the invention relates to a bracelet comprising the clasp according to one of the aforementioned embodiments.
[0027] Another aspect of the invention relates to a watch comprising the bracelet according to one of the aforementioned embodiments. Brief description of the figures

Examples of embodiments of the invention
[0029] The clasp illustrated in the figures, by way of non-limiting example, represents a preferred embodiment. More specifically, clasp 10 is a three-pronged folding clasp for closing a watch bracelet comprising two strands.
[0030] As is particularly evident from figures 1 to 4The clasp 10 comprises a frame 12 whose general shape is curved to fit part of the circumference of the wearer's wrist. A first and a second arm 42, 43 are articulated respectively to a first and a second end of the frame 12 by a fixing rod 47a. Each arm 42, 43 comprises two lateral branches 44 connected together at one of their ends by a fastening element 45 ( figures 4 And 8 ). This is connected by a fixing rod 47b to a linking member 48, 49 arranged to be connected to a free end of a strand of the bracelet.
[0031] Each arm 44 further has, on one inner side at the attachment element 45, a groove or slot 46 intended to cooperate with a clasp closure mechanism 10 when the two arms 42, 43 are folded against the frame 12. In this configuration, the two arms 44 of each arm 42, 43 are arranged against two lateral sides of the frame 12. The clasp closure mechanism 10, illustrated in particular by the figures 5 , 8 , 9 And 11For example, it may include two locking members 30a, 30b arranged oppositely at a central portion 14 of the frame 12 to ensure the stability of the clasp in the closed position. The central portion 14 comprises two surfaces 16 separated by a border 19, each provided with a projecting element 18 acting as a stop, as explained below. The projecting element 18 may, for example, be a stud extending perpendicularly to the surface 16. The stud 18 may, for example, be oblong in shape.
[0032] In view of the figures 9 And 11 Each locking member comprises a push button 32, a locking body 34 having a central opening 36, and two latches 38 arranged recessed and on either side of the push button 32 to engage the slot 46 at one end of each arm 42, 43 of the clasp. The locking body 34 of each locking member is mounted on either of the surfaces 16 ( Figure 5) with the stud 18 arranged inside the central opening 36 of each body 34. A return member 40, for example a leaf spring, is arranged between the locking body 34 and the rim 19 in order to exert a preload on the two locking members.
[0033] Preferably, one edge of the central opening 36 of the body 34 is thus abutted against an edge of the stud 18 when each locking member 30a, 30b is at rest, while an opposite edge of the central opening 36 of the body 34 is abutted against an opposite edge of the stud 18 when each locking member 30a, 30b is actuated by the wearer to open the clasp. According to the figure 9The width L of the opening 36 in the body of each locking member 30a, 30b thus defines the stroke made by these members to open the clasp. Pressing the push button 32 on each locking member 30a, 30b disengages the latches 38 from the slots 46 in order to open the clasp.
[0034] According to a minimalist embodiment, the locking mechanism could comprise only a single locking member 30a movable between a rest position, reached under the force of the return member 40, and a retracted position, reached by a force applied by the user against the force exerted by the return member 40. In this case, the second locking member 30b could be fixed or absent. Furthermore, the locking member 30a, 30b could, if the embodiment permits, comprise only a single latch 38. This could occur, in particular, in the case where the clasp 10 comprises only one deployable arm, instead of two as shown in the illustrative figures of the preferred embodiment.
[0035] With reference in particular to figures 4 to 7The clasp 10 further includes a device for adjusting the usable length of the bracelet, which allows for a comfortable fit. According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, this device comprises a first and a second adjustment unit 50 ( figure 4 ) arranged in respectively a first and a second housing 20, 21 of the frame 12 on either side of the central part 14. Each adjustment unit 50 is connected to one end respectively of the first and second arms 42, 43.
[0036] To this end, each adjustment unit 50 includes a slide 52, 53 arranged to move within the respective housing 20, 21 of the frame 12. Each housing 20, 21 has two lateral edges 22, 23, a transverse edge 25 extending perpendicularly from one end of the two lateral edges 22, 23, and an opening located opposite the transverse edge 25, namely at the other end of the lateral edges 22, 23. As illustrated in the figure 7, each slide has an attachment part 54 located outside the housing 20, 21 on the side of its opening (see figure 8 ). The attachment part 54 is connected respectively to the first and second arms 42, 43 by means of the fixing rod 47a.
[0037] Each adjustment unit 50 further comprises a control member 60 pivotally connected to the respective slide 52, 53 by a connecting rod 69, the ends of which are arranged to move along an oblong opening 24 extending along the lateral edges 22, 23 of each housing 20, 21 of the frame 12. This oblong opening may be either a slot passing completely through the lateral edges 22, 23, or a blind groove. In the latter case, the ends of the connecting rod 69 are fitted into this groove.
[0038] The embodiment with the through slot 24, as illustrated, has the advantage of allowing the connecting rod 69 to utilize the full available width of the lateral edges 22, 23, thus improving the slide's stability in its housing while benefiting from thin lateral edges 22, 23. Advantageously, the arms 44 of each arm 42, 43 are configured to cover the slots 24 when their respective arms are folded in the closed position of the clasp. In this way, the slots 24 are protected from external impurities, thus safeguarding the release mechanism from fouling while also rendering it invisible.
[0039] The control member 60 comprises a cap 62 that pivots about the connecting rod 69 along an axis of rotation perpendicular to the direction of movement of the slide 52, 53, and more specifically in a plane parallel to that of the direction of movement of this slide. A lower surface of the cap provides for this purpose an attachment element 66, while each slide 52, 53 has two lateral arms 57 arranged on either side of the attachment element 66 of the cap. The connecting rod 69 passes through the two lateral arms 57 of the slide and the attachment element 66 of the cap.
[0040] The cover 62 is shaped to cover the respective housing 20, 21 of the frame 12, in particular to conceal this housing in at least one of the indexed positions of the slide. Preferably, and as illustrated on the figures 1, 3 And 8Specifically, the cap 62 is integrated into the housing 20, 21, preferably with its upper surface flush with the upper surface of each of the side walls 23 and with that of the transverse edge 25. Alternatively, the cap 62 could have a protrusion extending beyond the transverse edge 25 towards the central part 14, so that this cap 62 alone can conceal the housing 20, 21 regardless of the indexed position of the slide on which it is mounted. In this case, the upper surface of the cap could be flush with the upper surfaces of the side walls 23, while the upper surface of the transverse edge 25 could preferably be lowered by the thickness of this protrusion. The upper surface of the cap is divided into two parts on either side of its axis of rotation. One of the parts acts as a pusher 63.The surface of the push button may have a different visual appearance from the other part in order to indicate the area to be pressed.
[0041] Advantageously, the surface of the push button 63 may have a raised structure 63, for example a serrated surface, to ensure good grip when pressure is applied. The cap 62 is further shaped so that its lateral edges preferably follow the curved profile of the two lateral edges 22, 23 of the respective housing 20, 21. One end of the cap 62 is provided with a locking element 64 for cooperating with a locking part 68 integral with the frame 12.
[0042] This locking element may, for example, be in the form of a rim 64 extending along the end of the cap 62 in an oblique direction relative to the general plane of the cap, preferably perpendicular to it. The locking element may include one or more hooks at the end of the cap or beneath it, according to an unillustrated variant.
[0043] Each adjustment unit 50 also includes a return element 56 ( figure 4 ) mounted, for example, in a housing 55 of the slide 52, 53. The return element 56 can, for example, be in the form of a leaf spring. The return element 56 exerts a preload on an area of the lower surface of the cap which is, for example, opposite the raised surface 63 of the cap in order to exert a force tending to pivot the cap 62 around the connecting rod 69.
[0044] According to an unillustrated variant, each adjustment unit 50 lacks a return mechanism. The cap can, for example, be held in a non-rotated position by a clip system. For this purpose, the rim 64 of the cap can, for example, include a projecting element arranged to cooperate with a cavity located on the transverse edge 25 of the housing.
[0045] The locking part of the frame arranged to cooperate with the locking element 64 of the control member 60 is in the illustrated example in the form of a locking rod 68. The ends of this rod are fixed to the respective edges 22, 23 of the housing 20, 21. This rod 68 is located near the transverse edge 25.
[0046] Thus, each control element 60 is configured to, on the one hand, lock the respective slide 52, 53 in the housing 20, 21 in a first indexed position and, on the other hand, unlock the slide 52, 53 so that it can be moved into at least one second indexed position according to the detailed explanation which will be given later.
[0047] With particular reference to the figure 8 The clasp also includes a cover 26 with a fixing plate 27, which is fixed to the central part 14 of the frame 12, for example by screwing, on two areas located on either side of the edge 19 as can be seen in the Figure 5 . This fixing plate allows two housings to be formed for the arrangement of the bodies 34 of the two locking members 30a, 30b of the clasp.
[0048] The cover 26 is preferably arranged to be completely covered by the two connecting members 48, 49 when the slide 52, 53 of each adjustment unit 50 is in a first indexed position corresponding to a minimum length of the clasp 10 in the closed configuration as illustrated in particular by the Figure 12a Conversely, the cover 26 is arranged to be visible when the slides 52, 53 of each adjustment unit 50 are in a second indexed position corresponding to a maximum length of the clasp in the closed configuration as illustrated by the figure 13a The cover 26 can also be partially visible when the slide 52, 53 of the first and second adjustment units 50 are respectively in the first and second indexed position or vice versa.
[0049] Advantageously, the visual appearance of the cover 26 is preferably identical to at least one visible face of each connecting link 48, 49 so that the cover blends in with the two connecting links when it is at least partially visible. Preferably, the first and second connecting elements 48, 49 have a thickness equivalent to that of the bracelet strand. The latter can typically be made up of links that are preferably identical or similar in appearance to the connecting elements. In this way, the visible surfaces, namely the upper surfaces of the bracelet strands and the connecting elements, can advantageously be at the same level and thus be aligned when the clasp is in the closed position.
[0050] This lack of extra thickness gives the bracelet with clasp 10 not only a neat appearance, but also prevents any premature wear or deterioration of a protruding part of the clasp, as is generally the case with clasps equipped with a cover. In a preferred embodiment, the bracelet strand is composed of a plurality of links, and the first and second connecting members 48, 49 have dimensions that are substantially the same as at least some of the links of the bracelet strand.
[0051] THE figures 12a to 12cThe figures illustrate the clasp in a closed configuration and in a state corresponding to the clasp's minimum length. In this configuration, the two connecting members 48 and 49, which are arranged to be connected to two free ends of the bracelet, are positioned against each other. Consequently, the bracelet (not shown), connected to the clasp's connecting members 48 and 49, has a minimum circumference in this configuration.
[0052] In view of the Figure 12bThe rim 64 of the cap 62 of each control member 60 is engaged with the locking rod 68, which is fixed to the lateral edges of the housing that receives the slide. The return member 56 exerts a force on a lower area of the cap 62, tending to pivot the cap 62 around its pivot in the direction that allows the cap to be pressed against the locking rod 68. Since the cap is connected to the slide, the slide cannot therefore be moved within the housing. In this configuration, the two latches 38 of each locking element 30a, 30b of the closing mechanism are fully housed in the respective slots 46 located at the ends of the arms of each clasp arm at the attachment element 45, as illustrated by the Figure 12c , thus ensuring the closure of the clasp.
[0053] To extend the clasp, it must be in the deployed position. The wearer must then apply pressure to the push button 63 to pivot the cap 62 around the connecting rod 69. This disengages the locking rod 68 from the rim 64 of the cap. The slide 52, 53 can then be moved within its housing by the wearer while applying pressure to the push button 63. During this movement, the ends of the connecting rod 69 move along the oblong opening 24 extending along each lateral edge 22, 23 of the housing 20, 21 of the frame 12 until the connecting rod, for example, comes to rest against one end of the two oblong openings.
[0054] THE figures 13a to 13cThe figures illustrate the clasp in a closed configuration and in a state corresponding to the clasp's maximum length. In this configuration, the two connecting members 48, 49 are arranged at a distance from each other. Consequently, the bracelet (not shown), connected to the clasp's connecting members 48, 49, has a maximum circumference in this configuration.
[0055] In the clasp configuration illustrated by the figure 13b The slides 52, 53 of each adjustment unit were moved into a second indexed position. Moving each adjustment unit into this second indexed position moves the attachment portion 54 of each slide 52, 53 away from the respective ends of the frame 12. This increases the distance between the two connecting members 48, 49 of the clasp, thereby increasing the circumference of the bracelet.
[0056] In the example illustrated by the accompanying figures, the second indexed position of each slide 52, 53 is determined by the length of the oblong openings 24 extending along the lateral edges 22, 23 of each housing 20, 21, since one end of these openings acts as a stop for the connecting rod 69. It should also be noted that the rim 64 of the cap 62 of each adjustment unit is positioned against the locking rod 68. Thus, in this configuration of the clasp, movement in both directions of the slide 52, 53 of each adjustment unit is prevented either by the locking rod 68 or by one end of the oblong openings 24.
[0057] This will be understood in light of the figure 13c that the latches 38 of each locking body of the closing mechanism are sufficiently engaged in the slots 46 of the branches of the two arms in order to ensure reliable closure of the clasp when its length is at its maximum.
[0058] Preferably, it should also be noted that the slots 46 follow a curvilinear trajectory since the lengthening of the clasp generates a curvilinear translation of the attachment part 54 of each slide to which the two arms are connected.
[0059] Advantageously, each latch 38 of the closing mechanism has a curvilinear surface whose curvature corresponds to the curvature of the slot 46. This curvilinear surface slides along the slot so as to ensure guidance of the two arms 42, 43 during the movement of the slides from the first to the second indexed position and vice versa when the clasp is in a closed configuration.
[0060] The clasp 10, as described above, can be configured to three different lengths depending on the indexed position of each adjustment unit.
[0061] According to another embodiment not shown, the clasp may be of the double-folding type. For this purpose, one end of an arm is connected to one end of the frame, while the other end of the arm is connected to a first connecting member. A second connecting member is connected to another end of the frame. Each of the connecting members is intended to be connected to one end of a strap strand. The clasp further includes a closing mechanism configured to lock the arm against the frame and a device for adjusting the usable length of the strap, comprising an adjustment unit arranged within the frame and having characteristics identical or similar to the adjustment unit described previously in connection with the illustrated embodiment.
[0062] Various modifications can be made to the clasp as described above without departing from the scope of the appended claims. For example, the clasp may have only one adjustment unit arranged to move only one of the two arms relative to the frame of the three-blade clasp. Furthermore, the clasp may be adapted to allow indexing of the adjustment unit, or each of the two adjustment units, in more than two indexed positions. For example, for the three-blade clasp, the ability to index each adjustment unit in three different positions would allow the clasp to be configured in five different lengths. Reference list
