874 results about "Wrist brace" patented technology

A wrist brace is a garment that is worn around the wrist to protect it during strong use or for allowing it to heal. Wrist braces are common accessories in injury rehabilitation processes affecting the wrist. They immobilize the joint and provide heat and compression to the wrist bones and ligaments. Currently, they are made with a rigid tissue nylon fabrics or neoprene that allows limited mobility of the hand and wrist and are usually fixed with Velcro, some times with extensions to ensure they cover part of the hand adhering around thumb. In severe cases, they incorporate metal "spines" to better immobilize the joint.

Method and apparatus for the noninvasive assessment of hemodynamic parameters including blood vessel location

A method and apparatus for determining the mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) of a subject during tonometric conditions. In one embodiment, the apparatus comprises one or more pressure and ultrasound transducers placed over the radial artery of a human subject's wrist, the latter transmitting and receiving acoustic energy so as to permit the measurement of blood velocity during periods of variable compression of the artery. In another aspect of the invention, a wrist brace useful for measuring blood pressure using the aforementioned apparatus is disclosed. In yet another aspect of the invention, backscattered acoustic energy is used to identify the location of the blood vessel of interest, and optionally control the position of measurement or treatment equipment with respect thereto.

Wearable pulse oximetry device

A pulse oximetry device that is mounted on a wrist strap and fixates an area above a distal end of the ulna with a dome shaped structure. This area is used as measuring area. The measurement is carried out by a detector positioned above the fixated area, that detects light emitted by light sources having different wave lengths that are located at a periphery of the fixated area. Hence, the reflections are measured at neither a reflection mode nor a transmission mode, but are at an angle between 20° and 160° from the emitted light. This mode, termed trans-illumination, allows achieving an excellent signal to noise ratio that for the first time enables continuous and reliable measurement of oximetry data on the wrist.

Method and apparatus for the noninvasive determination of arterial blood pressure

During compression, the ultrasound velocity waveforms are recorded and processed using time-frequency analysis. The time at which the mean time-frequency distribution is maximal corresponds to the time at which the transmural pressure equals zero, and the mean pressure read by the transducer equals the mean pressure within the artery. In another aspect of the invention, the ultrasound transducer is used to position the transducer over the artery such that the accuracy of the measurement is maximized. In yet another aspect of the invention, a wrist brace useful for measuring blood pressure using the aforementioned apparatus is disclosed.

The invention concerns a fastening band (1) of the belt type or a wristband or bracelet for a portable device (40) for example, including fastening and length adjustment means (5). The fastening band includes an element (6, 42) for indicating the fastening tension thereof that has a specific visual appearance identifiable to the user in order to indicate to the latter when the fastening tension of the band is sufficient for a given application. The fastening band of the present invention is particularly interesting when it is implemented in the form of a wristband for a pulsometer worn on the wrist comprising optical type measuring means. In this application, a fastening tension value sufficient to guarantee proper measurement precision is predefined, the features of the indicator element being adapted to this value in order to indicate to the wearer that he has reached said value when the wristband is being fitted to his wrist.
