AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing footwear solutions fail to provide individually adjustable cushioning and pressure distribution while preventing friction and abrasion, requiring separate purchases and frequent repositioning, and are prone to wear due to shear forces.

Method used

A stocking with a multi-thread knitted surface, a single-knit outer surface, and an intermediate surface forming a pocket for customizable cushioning inserts, with an adhesive bond and anti-slip layer, allowing for repositioning and reduced wear.

Benefits of technology

Enables customizable cushioning and pressure distribution with reduced wear and friction, facilitating easy repositioning and adaptability to changing needs.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

[0001] Even without a pre-existing condition, pressure sores or decubitus ulcers can occur when walking or even with minimal movement in shoes. This can also occur with slight deformities of the foot or atypical foot shapes in non-custom-made footwear.

[0002] In order to cushion the contact points in the footwear that are subject to compression, a combination of stockings and variably positioned elements that are additionally attached or clamped to the stocking and distribute the pressure over a large area have been used.

[0003] Problems arise from the fact that clamped surfaces often only remain stable for a short period of time. Surfaces that adhere to the stocking remain stable for longer, but once the stocking or surface wears out, they must be disposed of.

[0004] In addition, stockings and surfaces must be purchased separately, and clamped surfaces must be repositioned each time they are used. Adhesive surfaces cannot be repositioned if their purpose changes.

[0005] Surfaces adhering to the underside of the sock are subject to greater wear, mainly due to minimal rubbing against footwear and strong shear forces between the sock and the surface. State of the art

[0006] WO 2005 039 335 A2 describes a sock, in particular for use in sporting activities, which has padding in certain areas that is coordinated with the arrangement of the padding of the shoe (3). The sock of WO 2005 039 335 A2 requires specially manufactured shoes or shoe insoles for use. CH 147 132 A describes a protector, in particular to be worn over fine women's stockings, which covers at least the sole, heel and the edge areas of the lower foot part and forms a pad. CH 147 132 A does not describe individually adjustable padding. Similar embodiments are described in DE 492 744 C, DE 801 922 C and CH 186 827 A.

[0007] JP 2007 506 869 A describes a sock, particularly for use in sporting activities, which has one or more pads for the toes, sole, heel, etc. The sock of JP 2007 506 869 A does not contain any individually adjustable pads. TASK

[0008] The task is to create a stocking with cushioning, pressure-distributing and friction-preventing surfaces, where the respective surface can be individually connected to the sock once or several times and which is not subject to increased abrasion or shear forces. SOLUTION

[0009] The solution consists of a stocking consisting of a first, multi-thread knitted surface (support sock), a second, single-knit outer surface connected to it and a third, single-knit surface (intermediate surface) lying beneath the outer surface.

[0010] The outer surface extends from the underside and sides of the toe to the entire bottom and sides of the sock, continuing over the bottom and sides of the heel to the sock shaft or cuff. A pocket is created between the outer surface and the intermediate surface, which allows for the insertion of one or more custom-made padding areas, either in the shaft or at the cuff, through an opening.

[0011] The person using the stocking inserts one or more customizable cushioning areas into the pocket.

[0012] The outer surface has an embedded thread or yarn that, when heated (e.g., using an iron or a heat press), bonds adhesively to the upholstery surface. An anti-slip layer is applied to the top of the upholstery surface.

[0013] In order to enable a new positioning of the upholstered surfaces, they can be detached from the knitted fabric using heat. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION WITH THE DRAWING

[0014] Fig. 1 shows the arrangement of the knitted fabric and the spaces in the stocking consisting of a single-thread knitted outer surface (2), a single-thread knitted intermediate surface (3), a multi-thread knitted support stocking (4), the pocket for the foot (8) and the pocket (5) for the ready-to-wear padding surface. Fig. 2 shows the stocking (1), the outer surface (2), the support stocking (4) and the pocket (5) with an opening (6). Fig 3 shows the stocking (1) without padding on one foot. Fig. 4 shows the stocking (1) with different padding areas (7a, 7b, 7c) on one foot.

Claims

1. Continuously knitted multi-thread stocking with at least one partially inserted, melt-bonded thread and a pocket in the stocking for an insert, characterized in that a. the interlining is thermally stable up to a temperature above the melting point of the melting adhesive thread, b. the multi-thread stocking is thermally stable up to a temperature above the melting point of the melting adhesive thread and c. the interlining is freely configurable.

2. Stocking with insert according to claim 1, characterized in that the pocket a. begins below and to the side of the toe of the sock and b. continues below and to the side of the foot of the sock and c. continues below and to the side of the heel of the sock d. continues beyond the heel of the sock and then has an opening.

3. Stocking with insert according to claim 1, characterized in that the stocking is free of seams, stiffeners, multiple overlapping and interwoven areas or other thickenings.
