Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a recoil-damping device for a firearm, in particular for fastening to or in a buttstock of the firearm, preferably a handgun, having a rear part and a front part which are movable relative to one another between a rest position and a damping position against the force of a damping device.
[0002] Devices for dampening the recoil acting on a shooter following the firing of a firearm are known from the prior art. These devices are designed, on the one hand, to dampen the recoil as effectively as possible in order to avoid or at least reduce injuries or discomfort for the shooter, and, on the other hand, to maintain, as far as possible, accurate target acquisition by the shooter before firing a shot and during a series of shots. A rigid design of the recoil-damping device prior to firing the shot is advantageous for target acquisition.
[0003] US 2002 / 0053156 A1 discloses a firearm with a recoil-damping device and a locking device. The recoil-damping device is arranged between a rear and a front stock part, which are displaceable relative to each other, and has a damping spring that is compressed during recoil. The locking device allows compression of the recoil-damping device only after a pulse weight accelerated by a shot releases a lock. This prevents inadvertent compression of the recoil-damping device before the trigger is pulled while aiming at a target. The disadvantage of this design is the use of the compressible damping spring, which increases the weight of the recoil-damping device, requires a receiving space for the spring, is generally difficult to replace and must be specially designed for suitable damping behavior.
[0004] US 2006 / 0096148 A1 relates to a recoil dampening system for hunting or sporting weapons, comprising a hydraulic dampening device and a locking device that prevents compression of the recoil dampening device before a shot is fired. The recoil dampening device is arranged between a rear stock section made of soft material and a front stock section that can be moved relative to it. The hydraulic dampening device is also disadvantageously heavy, bulky, expensive, prone to failure, and difficult to replace.
[0005] The object of the invention is to create a recoil-damping device as initially stated that avoids or at least mitigates the disadvantages of the prior art. In particular, the recoil-damping device should be lightweight, space-saving, and cost-effective. Furthermore, the device should be easy to maintain. In particular, the damping effect should be easily adaptable to the shooter's needs.
[0006] This object is achieved by a recoil-damping device according to claim 1. Advantageous embodiments and further developments are specified in the dependent claims.
[0007] According to the invention, the damping device comprises at least one elastic linear element, which is fastened to the rear part and the front part and is tensioned in the direction of its longitudinal extension, wherein the elastic linear element is tensioned more strongly between the rear part and the front part in the damping position than in the rest position. The recoil-damping device thus comprises a rear part, a front part movable relative to the rear part, and a damping device, wherein the rear part and the front part are connected to one another via the damping device. The rear part and the front part are movable relative to one another between a rest position and a damping position against the force of the damping device. If the butt section is attached to a rear part of the weapon itself, in particular the stock, which is closest to the shooter's shoulder in the firearm's use position, the front section is preferably integrated into a front part of the weapon, in particular the stock, which is further away from the shooter's shoulder in the firearm's use position. On the other hand, the recoil-damping device can also be attached with its front section to the rear part of the stock of the weapon, which is closest to the shooter's shoulder in the firearm's use position, so that a firearm can be easily retrofitted with the recoil-damping device.
[0008] To achieve the damping effect, the damping device has at least one elastic linear element, which is attached to the rear part and the front part and is tensioned in the direction of its longitudinal extent. The elastic linear element can already be tensioned in the rest position. The elastic linear element has a longitudinal extent which is significantly greater, for example at least 10 times, preferably at least 30 times, than a transverse extent or thickness measurable perpendicular to the longitudinal extent. Furthermore, the elastic linear element exhibits no plastic behavior or negligible plastic behavior during operation of the recoil-damping device. In the damping position, the elastic linear element is more strongly tensioned between the rear part and the front part than in the rest position. When the firearm is fired, the resulting recoil moves the front part from its rest position towards the rear part, whereby the elastic linear element is (further) tensioned, i.e. it is subjected to tensile stress, and absorbs recoil energy and thereby dampens the recoil acting on the shooter's shoulder. At the end of the recoil, the front part and the rear part are in the dampening position. Immediately after the end of the recoil, the elastic linear element strives to relax as much as possible and moves the front part away from the rear part into the rest position. If several, for example two, three or four elastic linear elements are provided, in the event of a defect, in particular a tear, of one of the elastic linear elements, a correspondingly reduced recoil dampening can still be achieved.
[0009] The recoil-damping device therefore has the advantage, among other things, that the tensioned elastic linear element does not need to be accommodated in a guide channel due to the tensile stress, unlike pressure springs or compression springs, which can deflect laterally under compressive stress. This allows the recoil-damping device to be manufactured more simply and cost-effectively. Since the longitudinal path of the elastic linear element is not tied to a guide channel, the elastic linear element can be installed more flexibly and the space required for the elastic linear element is reduced. This also makes it easier to remove the elastic linear element from the recoil-damping device and replace it with a similar elastic linear element or with an elastic linear element with modified elongation properties.Removal or replacement of the elastic linear element can also be simplified by providing multiple elastic linear elements, since in this case, each individual elastic linear element exhibits lower tensile stress in the rest position and can therefore be removed from the recoil-damping device with less effort, for example, without the use of tools. In addition to the flexible guide, the recoil-damping device with the tensioned elastic linear element, for example, made of rubber, has the advantage of being lighter than compressed steel springs.
[0010] When reference is made in the course of the description to location and direction specifications such as "top," "bottom," "front," "rear," or "side," these specifications refer to the intended use of the recoil-damping device or the firearm. The term "vertical" means in the direction of gravity, from "top" to "bottom," or vice versa. If the recoil-damping device or the firearm is to be used in a different position, the location and direction specifications must be transferred accordingly. The terms "rear" and "rear" describe a position on the recoil-damping device or the firearm that is closer to the shoulder of a shooter firing the firearm than a position described by the terms "front" or "forward."
[0011] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the rear part and the front part are arranged so as to be displaceable relative to one another, in particular so as to be displaceable relative to one another in a recoil direction. In addition, the rear part and the front part can overlap one another in a side view, i.e. transversely to the recoil direction. Preferably, the rear part and the front part are sheathed. By displacing the front part with respect to the rear part, injury to the shooter from otherwise rotatable or deflecting components of the firearm is prevented. By displacing it in the recoil direction, the firearm remains aligned with the intended target during and immediately after the recoil movement. In addition, the shooter generally expects the recoil movement in the recoil direction so that the shooter can absorb the dampened recoil force acting on him with as little injury as possible.Preferably, the space between the front part and the rear part is covered with a cover to prevent the ingress of foreign objects, such as dirt, and injuries to the shooter during the movement of the front part to the rear part.
[0012] It is particularly advantageous if the damping device has at least one deflection device around which the elastic linear element is deflected, wherein in particular the elastic linear element runs from a first fastening position, at which the elastic linear element is fastened to the rear part, to the deflection device and from the deflection device to a second fastening position, at which the elastic linear element is fastened to the front part. The deflection device enables more flexible definition of the first and second fastening positions and the use of an elastic linear element with a greater longitudinal extent. Without the deflection device, for example, the first fastening position on the rear part would be arranged in front of the second fastening position on the front part when viewed in the firing direction, i.e. opposite to the recoil direction, in order to tension the elastic linear element during recoil. The deflection device, however, also allows the first fastening position to be arranged behind the second fastening position, viewed in the firing direction. The elastic linear element is thus preferably deflected from a path substantially in the firing direction to a path substantially in the recoil direction, or vice versa.
[0013] For positioning the elastic linear element, it is particularly advantageous if several first and / or second mounting positions are provided. If the first and / or second mounting positions are spaced apart from one another in the longitudinal direction of the elastic linear element, elastic linear elements of different lengths can be inserted into the recoil-damping device. Furthermore, the tensile stress of the elastic linear element in the rest position, and thus the recoil-damping effect, can be adapted to the shooter's needs by attaching the elastic linear element at selected mounting positions.
[0014] A particularly simple embodiment can provide for the deflection device to be a pin with a round outer surface in cross-section or a roller. In this way, the elastic linear element can slide on the round outer surface, in particular also a round section of the outer surface, or roll on the roller without sustaining damage. The pin and / or the roller can have a groove in which the elastic linear element is guided. Preferably, a longitudinal axis of the pin or an axis of rotation of the roller runs essentially perpendicular to the longitudinal extent of the elastic linear element. The pin is generally understood to be a rigid longitudinal body, such as a bolt or a rod.
[0015] If the elastic linear element is configured with two ends, the elastic linear element can be attached to the rear part in a first end region, for example, by a first end itself, and to the front part in a second end region, for example, by a second end itself. For example, the two end regions or the two ends can be fixed to the rear part and the front part by a clamping connection or a screw connection. The elastic linear element can have a through-opening at at least one end, for example, in the form of a loop, through which a pin, a hook, or a screw is inserted.
[0016] If, however, the elastic linear element is designed to be self-contained, essentially like an elastic ring, the elastic linear element can be fastened in a first end region, for example, by a first end itself, to the rear part in the tensioned state, and in a second end region, for example, by a second end itself, to the front part. For example, in the tensioned state, the two end regions or the two ends can be fixed by a clamp connection or a screw connection, or can be arranged around a pin, a hook, or a screw.
[0017] Preferably, an elastic band is provided as the elastic linear element, which preferably has at least one flat surface in cross-section or is circular. The elastic band, for example a rubber band or plastic band, can be manufactured particularly cost-effectively, in a space-saving manner, and with low weight. Furthermore, the elastic band can be manufactured with defined stretch properties. If the elastic band has at least one flat surface in cross-section, it can be designed, for example, as a flat band with a rectangular cross-section. In the case of a round, in particular circular, cross-section, the elastic band can be inserted into the recoil-damping device particularly easily, without having to take into account any twisting of the elastic band about a longitudinal axis thereof.
[0018] According to a further embodiment, it can be provided that a locking device acting between the rear part and the front part is provided, which in a locked position blocks a relative movement between the rear part and the front part and in a released position allows a relative movement between the rear part and the front part, wherein a trigger element that can be activated by means of a shock pulse is provided, which in a holding position holds the locking device in the locked position and in an active position releases the locking device into the release position, wherein the trigger element is designed to be pivotable about a trigger element pivot axis as a result of the shock pulse and at least part of the locking device is designed to be pivotable about a locking device pivot axis as a result of the shock pulse. The locking device can thus block or allow the relative movement between the rear part and the front part.Furthermore, the trigger element can hold the locking device in the locked position while a target is being aimed at and only allow the locking device to transition to the release position after a shot has been fired. For this purpose, the trigger element can, triggered by a shock impulse, i.e. in particular by the recoil of the fired firearm, automatically pivot about the trigger element pivot axis and thus transition from the holding position to the active position. Triggered by the transition of the trigger element to the active position and thus also as a result of the shock impulse, at least part of the locking device can pivot about the locking device pivot axis from the locked position to the release position. Such a design of the trigger element as a pivoting element ensures a reliable and comparatively rapid transition from the holding position to the active position.Because the trigger element and at least part of the locking device are mounted so that they can pivot smoothly and overcome only minimal frictional resistance, a reliable blocking and release of the relative movement between the rear part and the front part is achieved.
[0019] In order for the trigger element to move automatically from the holding position to the active position as a result of the shock impulse, in particular as a result of the recoil caused by the firing of the shot, it is advantageous if the trigger element has different masses above and below the trigger element pivot axis. For example, the trigger element above / below the trigger element pivot axis can have a higher mass than the opposite one below / above the trigger element pivot axis. In particular, the trigger element above and below the trigger element pivot axis can have different moments of inertia. Due to the different masses of the parts of the trigger element arranged above and below the trigger element pivot axis, the more inert part executes a delayed movement in the recoil direction as a result of the shock impulse, whereby the trigger element pivots about the trigger element pivot axis.In particular, the more inert portion tends to maintain its position relative to a fixed reference point external to the firearm immediately after firing, while the rest of the firearm moves abruptly toward the shooter as a result of the firing. The weight of the trigger element, or rather the portion located above and below the trigger element's pivot axis, is advantageously chosen to be sufficiently large to reliably overcome any frictional resistance, however slight, that counteracts the movement of the trigger element.
[0020] Furthermore, it can be provided that the locking device has a receiving element, in particular a recess in the front part / rear part, and a pivot arm which engages in the receiving element in the locked position and is mounted on the rear part / front part so as to be pivotable about the locking device pivot axis, and which is supported on the trigger element in the locked position. Preferably, the receiving element is displaceable with respect to the pivot arm in the active position of the trigger element, while the receiving element is held in a fixed position by the pivot arm in the holding position of the trigger element. The receiving element, which can be designed as a recess, depression, projection or similar, is shaped to achieve a release of the pivot arm from engagement with the receiving element when the trigger element moves from the holding position to the active position, in particular due to the shock pulse.Preferably, the receiving element has an inclined contact surface for engagement with the pivot arm, so that when the pivot arm is no longer held in the locked position by the trigger element, the latter moves into the release position due to the recoil and the resulting displacement of the inclined contact surface relative to the pivot arm. The locking device can also be designed such that the pivot arm releases itself from engagement with the receiving element by gravity when it is no longer held in the locked position by the trigger element.
[0021] For a particularly low-friction transition from the locked position to the released position and back, it is advantageous if the pivot arm, preferably at its end facing the receiving element, has a pivot arm roller or pivot arm ball, which engages with the receiving element in the locked position. The pivot arm roller or pivot arm ball allows the pivot arm to roll on those surfaces with which it engages during the relative movement between the rear and front parts, particularly on the receiving element.
[0022] For a particularly low-friction transition from the locking position to the release position and back, it is also advantageous if the trigger element has a trigger element roller or a trigger element ball on which the swivel arm, in particular the swivel arm roller or swivel arm ball, is supported in the locking position.
[0023] To prevent unwanted relative movement between the front and rear sections before firing a shot, particularly while aiming at a target, it is advantageous if the trigger element is pretensioned into the holding position by means of a biasing element. The locking device is thereby reliably held in the locked position even when the firearm is moved in accordance with normal use. The biasing element can be a spring element. As an alternative to a spring element, the trigger element could be pretensioned into the holding position by means of a magnetic device. For this purpose, a first magnetic element could be arranged on the trigger element and a second magnetic element with the same or opposite polarity could be arranged close to the first magnetic element and external to the trigger element.
[0024] To ensure that the swivel arm automatically pivots back from the release position to the locked position after recoil dampening, it can be provided that the swivel arm is preloaded into the locked position by means of an additional preload element. The additional preload element can be, for example, a spring element or a magnetic device. Alternatively or additionally, the swivel arm can be pivoted back into the locked position by the trigger element when the trigger element is preloaded into the holding position.
[0025] If, in the release element's holding position, the release element's pivot axis, a first rotational axis of the pivot arm roller or pivot arm ball, and a second rotational axis of the release element roller or ball are aligned, the pivot arm is reliably held in the locked position. Furthermore, the transition from the locked position to the release position can be achieved with minimal force, as the pivotally mounted rollers or balls roll against each other as a result of the impact impulse.
[0026] The invention is further explained below using preferred embodiments, to which, however, it is not intended to be limited. [0027] It should be noted that the Figuren 1 bis 8 are not necessarily drawn to scale.
[0028] Fig. 1A shows a firearm 2, preferably a handgun 2a, with a free space 26 in a buttstock 3 or stock of the firearm 2, into which free space 26 a recoil-damping device 1, 1a, 1b can be inserted.
[0029] Fig. 1B shows the firearm 2 from Fig. 1A in whose buttstock 3 or butt a recoil-damping device 1, 1a according to the invention is attached.
[0030] Fig. 1C shows the firearm 2 from Fig. 1A in whose buttstock 3 or butt a differently designed recoil-damping device 1, 1b according to the invention is attached.
[0031] Fig. 1D shows the recoil-damping device 1, 1b from Fig. 1C before insertion into the buttstock 3. The recoil-damping device 1, 1b has, in comparison to the recoil-damping device 1, 1a Fig. 1B an additional butt cap 27 and a cushion 28.
[0032] Fig. 2 shows a recoil-damping device 1, 1c for a firearm 2, preferably for a handgun 2a, which recoil-damping device 1, 1c is attached, for example, to a buttstock 3 or stock of the firearm 2. For this purpose, the buttstock 3 or stock can be designed with a constant length in the recoil direction RR of the firearm 2, ie, incompressible.
[0033] The recoil-damping device 1, 1a, 1b, 1c can thus be accommodated in a buttstock 3 or, with minor modifications, can be attached to the rear end of a buttstock 3 and is therefore generally referred to below as recoil-damping device 1.
[0034] Fig. 3 shows schematically an embodiment of the recoil-damping device 1 from the side. The recoil-damping device 1 is in Fig. 3 shown in a rest position RS.
[0035] The recoil-damping device 1 comprises a rear part 4, a front part 5 and a damping device 6. The front part 5 is that part of the recoil-damping device 1 which is further away from the shooter and is preferably non-positively and rigidly connected to the housing of the firearm 2 including the barrel. The rear part 4 is that part of the recoil-damping device 1 which is arranged closer to the shooter and is non-positively and rigidly connected, for example, to the butt plate 27. The rear part 4 and the front part 5 are arranged against a force of the damping device 6 between a Fig. 3 shown rest position RS and one in Fig. 4 illustrated damping position DS. The damping device 6 has at least one elastic linear element 7, which is fastened to the rear part 4 and the front part 5 and is tensioned in the direction of its longitudinal extent LL. In the damping position DS, the elastic linear element 7 is tensioned more strongly between the rear part 4 and the front part 5 than in the rest position RS. Thus, the elastic linear element 7 can absorb at least part of the energy of the recoil resulting from the firing of a shot by the elastic linear element 7 being tensioned (even more strongly) during the transition from the rest position RS to the damping position DS. After the recoil has been dampened, the elastic linear element 7 relaxes again, at least partially, and returns the front part 5 to the rest position RS with respect to the rear part 4.
[0036] The Fig. 3 und 4 also show that the rear part 4 and the front part 5 are arranged to be displaceable relative to one another and, in particular, are arranged to be displaceable relative to one another in a recoil direction RR. In addition, the rear part 4 and the front part 5, as in Fig. 3 und 4 shown, overlap in a side view. In particular, the rear part 4 and the front part 5 can be designed to slide toward each other during movement. For example, the rear part 4 can be guided in a guide (not shown) in the front part 5. The front part 5 can have bores 8 for attachment to or in the buttstock 3.
[0037] Fig. 3 further shows at least one deflection device 9 of the damping device 6. The deflection device 9 can be a pin 9a with a round cross-section or a roller 9b. The elastic linear element 7 is in the example according to Fig. 3 deflected around the deflection device 9. In particular, the elastic linear element 7 can be moved from a first fastening position 10, which is Fig. 3 is not visible and to which the elastic linear element 7 is fastened to the rear part 4, to the deflection device 9 and from the deflection device 9 to a second fastening position 11, to which the elastic linear element 7 is fastened to the front part 5.
[0038] The Fig. 3 und 4 The elastic linear element 7 shown can be formed with two individual ends 12a, 12b (see Fig. 7 ) or it can be designed as an elastic ring, closed in itself (see Fig. 8 ). The elastic linear element 7 can be designed as a tension spring in an embodiment not shown. In the embodiment according to the Fig. 3 und 4 However, an elastic band 7a is provided as an elastic linear element 7, which preferably has at least one flat surface or is circular in cross section.
[0039] The at least one elastic linear element 7 in Fig. 3 can be formed by a single elastic linear element 7, which is arranged multiple times, for example three times, in loops between the rear part 4 and the front part 5. For this purpose, the single elastic linear element 7 can be looped around a plurality of first fastening positions 10, around the deflection device 9, and around a plurality of second fastening positions 11. Alternatively, the at least one elastic linear element 7 can be formed by a plurality of individual elastic linear elements 7, each of which is fastened to a first fastening position 10 and a second fastening position 11.
[0040] The Fig. 5 und 6 The examples shown show a locking device 13 acting between the rear part 4 and the front part 5, which is arranged in a Fig. 5 shown locking position SS blocks a relative movement between rear part 4 and front part 5 and in a Fig. 6 The release position FS shown in the drawing allows a relative movement between the rear part 4 and the front part 5. For this purpose, a trigger element 14 can be provided which can be activated by means of a shock pulse and which is arranged in a Fig. 5 shown holding position HS holds the locking device 13 in the locking position SS and in a Fig. 6 illustrated active position AS, releases the locking device 13 into the release position FS. Preferably, the trigger element 14 is designed to be pivotable about a trigger element pivot axis 15 as a result of a shock impulse, i.e. the recoil of the firearm 2, and at least part of the locking device 13 is designed to be pivotable about a locking device pivot axis 16 as a result of the recoil. So that the trigger element 14 can pivot reliably as a result of the recoil, the trigger element 14 preferably has different masses above and below the trigger element pivot axis 15. In the example shown, the trigger element 14 has a greater mass above the trigger element pivot axis 15 than below the trigger element pivot axis 15. In the event of a recoil, the trigger element 14 therefore pivots with a delay in relation to the rest of the firearm 2.
[0041] The exemplary Fig. 5 und 6 show further that the locking device 13 has a receiving element 17, in particular a recess 17a, in the front part 5 and a, in the in Fig. 5 shown locking position SS, engages the receiving element 17 and is pivotably mounted on the rear part 4 about the locking device pivot axis 16. The pivot arm 18 is supported in the locking position SS on the trigger element 14 and is thus prevented from pivoting out of engagement with the receiving element 17. In the example shown, the pivot arm 18 has, preferably at its end facing the receiving element 14 or at its end facing away from the locking device pivot axis 16, a pivot arm roller 19 or a pivot arm ball 20, which in the Fig. 5 shown locking position SS engages in the receiving element 17. In addition, the trigger element 14 preferably has a trigger element roller 21 or a trigger element ball 22, on which the pivot arm 18, in particular the pivot arm roller 19 or pivot arm ball 20, is supported in the locking position SS. Preferably, the trigger element 14 is pretensioned into the holding position HS by means of a pretensioning element 23. The example according to Fig. 5 further shows that in the holding position HS of the trigger element 14, the trigger element pivot axis 15, a first rotation axis 24 of the pivot arm roller 19 or the pivot arm ball 20 and a second rotation axis 25 of the trigger element roller 21 or the trigger element ball 22 are arranged in a line.
[0042] Before firing, the rear part 4 and the front part 5 are spaced apart from each other, since the elastic linear element 7 pulls the front part 5 forward into the rest position RS, see Fig. 3 The trigger element 14 is in the holding position HS, in which the trigger element 14 holds the locking device 13 in the locking position SS. The trigger element 14, by supporting the pivot arm 18, prevents the pivot arm 18 from pivoting out of the locking position SS into the release position FS. In the locking position SS, the pivot arm 18 mounted on the rear part 4 is in engagement with the receiving element 17 provided in the front part 5 and thus prevents a movement of the front part 5 towards the rear part 4, see Fig. 5 .
[0043] When the firearm 2 is fired, the resulting recoil of the firearm 2 against the shoulder of a shooter (not shown) pushes the firearm 2 backward toward the shooter, whereby the trigger element 14 pivots with a slight delay due to its comparatively large mass above the trigger element pivot axis 15. Therefore, the pivot arm 18 is no longer supported by the trigger element 14 and can, due to the backward movement of the receiving element 17, emerge from it, in particular roll out, and pivot into the release position FS, see Fig. 6 This releases the backward movement of the front part 5 against the rear part 4, and the elastic linear element 7 is tensioned, or at least more strongly tensioned, thereby absorbing at least part of the recoil energy and relieving the shooter's shoulder. The recoil-damping device 1 thus moves from the rest position RS to the damping position DS, see Fig. 4 . In the damping position DS, the backward movement of the front part 5 against the rear part 4 is terminated. The elastic linear element 7 now pulls the front part 5 away from the rear part 4 in the firing direction SR. Preferably, the pivot arm 18 is pre-tensioned into the locked position SS and / or the trigger element 14 adjacent thereto is pre-tensioned into the holding position HS, so that the pivot arm 18 pivots back into the receiving element 17 as soon as the front part 5 has been displaced far enough forward by the elastic linear element 7. Thereupon, or essentially simultaneously, the trigger element 14 pivots back into the holding position HS, in which it again holds the pivot arm 18 in the locked position SS, see Fig. 5 . Thus, the recoil-damping device 1 has returned to the rest position RS, in which the shooter can again aim at his target without compressing the recoil-damping device 1 and thereby impairing the aiming.
