[0002] Description

[0003] The present invention relates to a closure or a closure device for a container and to a container with such a closure or closure device.

[0004] Such closures are typically used for dispensing products contained in a container to which said closure is attached.

[0005] The products to be dispensed are typically fluid products, like e.g. liquids or powdered or granular products, e.g. in the cosmetics or beauty area or in the food and beverage area, but also in other applications, e.g. for cleaning substances, detergents or other products.

[0006] The present invention especially relates to a closure having a flip-top lid being attached to a base element by a hinge, while such a flip-top lid can be moved between an opened and closed position, while said flip-top lid is typically rotated around said hinge between its opened and its closed position.

[0007] In some applications it is desired to ensure that the closures are not inadvertently opened during transport, so that so-called transport lock elements are provided with such closures.

According to the present invention the closure for a container comprises a base element and a flip-top lid, which is, directly or indirectly, attached to said base element by means of a hinge. This connection or attachment of the flip-top lid to the base element is realized such that the flip-top lid can be moved between an opened and a closed position.

Closure according to claim 6, wherein said sections (132, 134) of said rim portion (130) are spaced from each other in a circumferential direction and having an opening between each other at a circumferential position being opposite to the position where the hinge (150) is located. Closure according to one of the preceding claims, wherein said deck portion (120) and / or at least one of said sections (132, 134) of said rim portion (130) have a through hole (122, 124), being arranged such that said transport lock element (400), being frangibly connected to said flip-top lid (200) in its as manufactured status, can at least partly be inserted into or at least partly through said through hole (122, 124) when closing the flip-top lid (200) for the first time after manufacturing.
