Description

[0001] The present invention relates to a dishwasher comprising a sump.

[0002] Dishwashers comprise a washing tub wherein the washing process is performed, and, under the washing tub, a valve, a pump and other electrical components, enabling the water and cleaning agents required for washing the dishes to be delivered into the washing tub. The water flowing down from the washing tub is accumulated in the sump. The water is discharged from the sump and water is taken again to be directed into the washing tub. When there is too much water accumulated in the sump, it overflows from the sump and accumulated on the casing and discharged. The electronic components grouped on the sump face the risk of getting wet when the water overflows from the sump. The electronic components getting wet not only causes problems such as the malfunction of the dishwasher, but also endangers the product and user safety.

[0003] In the state of the art European Patent Document No. EP2106731B1, a dishwasher is disclosed. The said dishwasher comprises a channel which is provided on the sump and which enables the guiding of excess water.

[0004] The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dishwasher with improved safety.

[0005] The dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a body; a washing tub which is disposed in the body and wherein the washing process is performed; at least one rack which is disposed in the washing tub; a spraying member which sprays water onto the rack; and a sump which is disposed under the washing tub. The water is sprayed onto the rack by means of the spraying members. Thus, the kitchen utensils placed onto the rack are cleaned. The sump is disposed under the washing tub in the body. The water to be delivered into the washing tub and / or leaving the washing tub is accumulated in the sump and distributed therefrom.

[0006] The dishwasher of the present invention comprises a wall which is provided on the sump and which almost completely surrounds the sump, and an opening which is provided on the wall. When there is excess water accumulated in the sump, it is discharged through the opening on the sump in a controlled manner. Thus, the water is prevented from getting in contact with the electronic components.

[0007] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the opening which is positioned in the opposite direction so as to ensure that the water does not get into contact with the electronic components under the sump. Thus, the safety of the electronic components is ensured.

[0008] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a guide which enables the water on the opening to be discharged in a controlled manner. By means of the guide, the water is enabled to be guided.

[0009] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the guide which extends from the lower edge of the opening towards the underside of the sump. Thus, the water is enabled to leave the sump in a controlled manner and be away from the electronic components.

[0010] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises a barrier which is provided on the outer side of the sump and on the opening. Thus, the water passing through the opening is enabled to be held by the barrier.

[0011] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the guide which extends from the barrier towards the lower edge of the sump. By means of the guide, the water accumulated in front of the barrier is enabled to be moved away from the sump in a controlled manner.

[0012] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher comprises the opening which is positioned on the wall at a level slightly higher than the sump surface. Thus, after some water accumulates on the sump, it can be discharged through the opening.

[0013] By means of the present invention, a dishwasher is realized, comprising the opening which enables the excess water accumulated in the sump to be discharged at a point away from the electronic components.

[0014] A dishwasher realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where: Figure 1 - is the schematic view of the dishwasher. Figure 2 - is the perspective view of the sump, the opening and the barrier. Figure 3 - is the perspective view of the sump and the opening.

[0015] The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows. 1- Dishwasher 2- Body 3- Washing tub 4- Rack 5- Spraying member 6- Sump 7- Wall 8- Opening 9- Guide 10- Barrier

[0016] The dishwasher (1) comprises a body (2); a washing tub (3) which is disposed in the body (2) and wherein the washing process is performed; at least one rack (4) which is disposed in the washing tub (3) and whereon the kitchen items are placed; a spraying member (5) which sprays water onto the racks; and a sump (6) which is disposed in the body (2) under the washing tub (3) and wherein the water flowing down from the washing tub (3) is accumulated. The sump (3) is disposed in the body (2) under the washing tub (3). The water flowing down from the washing tub (3) is accumulated in the sump (6) and discharged and / or used. Electronic components such as the pump and motor are also positioned around the sump (6).

[0017] The dishwasher (1) of the present invention comprises a wall (7) which is provided on the sump (6) and which almost completely surrounds the sump (6), and an opening (8) which is provided on the wall (7) and which enables the water accumulated in the sump (6) to be discharged. By means of the wall (7) which almost completely surrounds the sump (6) surface, the water accumulated on the tub (6) surface is prevented from spreading in an uncontrolled manner. The water is enabled to be discharged through the opening (8) arranged on the wall (7). There is no additional obstacle between the sump (6) surface and the wall (7) where the water can be accumulated. Thus, the water accumulated on the sump (6) surface is directly delivered to the wall (7).

[0018] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the opening (8) which is positioned away from the electronic components disposed under the sump (6). The opening (8) is positioned in the opposite direction to the area where the electronic components are disposed. Thus, the water is discharged through the opening (8) while being away from the electronic components.

[0019] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises at least one guide (9) which is disposed so as to extend from the opening (8) towards the underside of the sump (6) and which enables the water accumulated on the sump (6) to be guided. The guide (9) extends from the opening (8) towards the underside of the sump (6). The water discharged through the opening (8) is prevented from scattering around through the opening and is enabled to be discharged in a controlled manner over the guide (9). Thus, the contact of the underside of the sump (6) with water is minimized.

[0020] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the guide (9) which extends from the lower edge of the opening (8) towards the underside of the sump (6). The guides (9) can be arranged along the lower edge of the opening (8). Thus, channels are formed on the outer edge of the sump (6) under the opening (8) to remove water.

[0021] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a barrier (10) which is disposed on the lower edge of the opening (8) outside the sump (6) and which enables some water to accumulate thereon. The barrier (10) extends horizontally such that one edge thereof is positioned on the lower edge of the opening (8). Thus, the water is enabled to be moved away from the outer edge of the sump (6) and discharged at a further point.

[0022] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the guide (9) which extends from the barrier (10) towards the lower edge of the sump (6). As the guides (9) extend from the barrier (10) towards the lower edge of the sump (6), the water is enabled to be discharged in a controlled manner further away from the surface of the sump (6).

[0023] In an embodiment of the present invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises the opening (8) which is positioned on the wall (7) at a level slightly higher than the sump (6) surface. The lower edge of the opening (8) may be slightly higher than the surface of the sump (6). Thus, some water is discharged after accumulating on the sump (6).

[0024] By means of the invention, a dishwasher (1) is realized, which enables the water accumulated on the sump (6) to be discharged in a controlled manner thanks to an opening (8) provided on the sump (6) wall (7). Since there is no obstacle between the sump (6) surface and the wall (7), the water is enabled to be directly discharged through the opening (8).
