Anyone experienced with livestock and other animals knows that during unloading, the animals being transported will be very nervous and will tend to rush out of the transport space as soon as it is opened.

This document discloses a sliding mechanism with a pre-tensioned locking lug that slides along a rod equipped with several indexing holes along its length. The lug can be engaged in these holes to adjust the door opening. However, the operator must manually pull the locking lug to disengage it from the slide's indexing holes in order to open or close the door, and must release it to lock the desired opening position. During this entire process, the operator is positioned on one side of the door. [0024] To overcome the drawbacks of the prior art, the present invention proposes an opening / closing and locking device for a door leaf mounted to pivot about a vertical axis. The complete door may consist of one or two leaves within a door frame with a bottom rail and a top rail.
