Description

[0001] A pull tab retainer arrangement for a slide fastener assembly of a wearable article

[0002] TECHNICAL FIELD

[0003] The present disclosure relates to a pull tab retainer arrangement for a slide fastener assembly of a wearable article. The disclosure also relates to a slide fastener assembly of a wearable article, the slide fastener assembly comprising such a pull tab retainer arrangement. The disclosure also relates to a wearable article comprising such a pull tab retainer arrangement for a slide fastener assembly. In particular, the slide fastener assembly is intended for wearable articles such as garments, boots and gloves for weather protection, fluid-protective wearable articles, such as waterproof wearable articles, water-resistant wearable articles, diving suits, dry suits, protection suits, wet suits, workwear, boots and gloves, and other clothing for sport and leisure. Although the disclosure will be described with respect to a diving suit, the disclosure is not restricted to this particular garment, but may also be used in other fluid-protective garments and light-weight garments such as e.g. waterproof boots, waterproof gloves, waterproof jackets and / or waterproof pants.

[0004] BACKGROUND

[0005] In the field of wearable articles, including garments, such as protective garments, e.g. dry suits and diving suits, there is often a need for having one or more slide fasteners (or zips or zippers) to facilitate dressing and undressing of the wearable article. In addition, it is also common that diving boots for diving suits rely on a slide fastener to secure them to the wearer's foot. Slide fasteners may also be used in gloves and on the back and neck parts of the wearable article. Slide fasteners are therefore both useful and versatile and can be employed in a range of applications on wearable articles. Slide fasteners may generally comprise a pair of stringers and an opening and closing device commonly referred to as a slider. Each stringer comprises a tape and a plurality of fastener elements, also denoted as coupling elements or teeth. The fastener elements extend along a first edge of each tape and when the slider of the slide fastener has been moved to a closed position, corresponding fastener elements of the stringers interdigitate, couple or interlock. When each tape of the slide fastener is attached to separate portions of the wearable article, the separate portions of the article may be releasably joined by closing the slide fastener by moving the slider to the closed position, and thereby bringing the fastener elements into the interdigitating relationship. Slide fasteners for wearable articles generally also comprise a pull tab for manipulating the slider along the sliding directions of the slide fastener assembly. While there are a number of different slide fasteners for wearable articles and garments to be used in a wet environment, there is an increasing demand for improving the reliability of the closure of such slide fasteners during use of the wearable article.

[0006] SUMMARY OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0007] An object of the disclosure is to provide a more reliable closure of a slide fastener assembly for a wearable article. According to a first aspect of the disclosure, this object is at least partly achieved by the features of claim 1. According to a second aspect of the disclosure, the object is at least partly achieved by the features of claim 12. According to a third aspect of the disclosure, the object is at least partly achieved by the features of claim 24. According to a fourth aspect of the disclosure, the object is at least partly achieved by the features of claim 25.

[0008] According to the first aspect thereof, there is provided a pull tab retainer arrangement for a slide fastener assembly of a wearable article, wherein the pull tab retainer arrangement comprises a base portion having a first end portion and a second end portion, wherein the first end portion is configured to be attached to a material portion of any one of the wearable article and the slide fastener assembly. The second end portion is a free end configured to be positioned over a closed part of the slide fastener assembly. Moreover, the second end portion comprises a protruding mechanical engagement part configured to retain a pull tab of the slide fastener assembly.

[0009] The pull tab retainer arrangement provides for reducing the risk of having a slider of the slide fastener assembly to unexpectedly move in a sliding direction of the slider, thus reducing the risk of having the slide fastener assembly to open during use of the wearable article. The present disclosure is based on the observation that a conventional slide fastener, also denoted as a zipper, may face a problem that the zipper opens unexpectedly even when the zipper is in a locked state or in an engaged state.

[0010] In addition, the proposed pull tab retainer arrangement provides for a less complex configuration in comparison to other prior art slide body retainer arrangement.

[0011] Typically, the protruding mechanical engagement part is configured to engage and retain the pull tab of the slide fastener assembly. The protruding mechanical engagement part can either engage directly with the pull tab or indirectly engage with the pull tab via an intermediate detachable mechanical engagement portions, as described herein.

[0012] By way of example, the protruding mechanical engagement part is configured to engage and retain a distal portion of the pull tab. In this manner, the pull tab can be retained in position in an even more reliable manner. The pull tab may generally be movable between a first pull tab position and a second pull tab position. In the first pull tab position, the pull tab retainer arrangement is in a disengaged state with the pull tab. In other words, the distal portion of the pull tab is a free and disengaged portion in relation to the pull tab retainer arrangement. In the first pull tab position, the slider is allowed to slide along the sliding direction of the slide fastener assembly. In the first pull tab position, the pull tab is in a position, in which it can freely pivot to some extent about the slider. The first pull tab position may generally correspond to a releasable position of the slider of the slide fastener arrangement.

[0013] The second pull tab position is a position in which the pull tab is at a rest position when the slider is arranged to maintain a close position of the slide fastener assembly.

[0014] To this end, the protruding mechanical engagement part may be arranged to engage with the pull tab so as to retain the pull tab in the second pull tab position, and thus restrict movement of the slider along a longitudinal direction, corresponding to a sliding direction of the slider. More specifically, the protruding mechanical engagement part may be arranged to engage with the pull tab so as to retain the pull tab in the second pull tab position, corresponding to an engagement state between the protruding mechanical engagement part of the pull tab retainer arrangement and the pull tab of the slider.

[0015] Hence, the protruding mechanical engagement part may be configured to maintain the pull tab in the second pull tab position, and configured to restrict movement of the slider along the sliding direction, also generally corresponding to a longitudinal direction of the slide fastener assembly.

[0016] The second end portion of the base portion may typically be turnable between a first position and a second position. For example, the second end portion of the base portion may be bendable between a first position and a second position. In one example, the second end portion of the base portion may be foldable between a first position and a second position.

[0017] The base portion of the pull tab retainer arrangement may typically extend a substantial part in a first direction, here corresponding to the longitudinal direction, and a substantial part in a second direction, the second direction being perpendicular to the first direction. The second direction may generally correspond to a transverse direction. The base portion may further have a thickness in a third direction, perpendicular to the first direction.

[0018] When the first end portion of the pull tab retainer arrangement is attached to the wearable article and the second end portion of the base portion of pull tab retainer arrangement is in the second position, while the slider is in the closed state, the first direction may correspond to the sliding direction of the slide fastener assembly (generally corresponding to the longitudinal direction of the slide fastener assembly) and the second direction may correspond to the transverse direction of the slide fastener assembly.

[0019] Typically, the first end portion of the base portion may be configured to be attached to a material portion of the wearable article. The material portion may be a portion of the garment making up the wearable article and / or a material portion of a slide fastener base layer. Hence, the material portion may be an integral part of the slide fastener arrangement. In other examples, the material portion may be an integral part of the fabric of the wearable article. By the attachment of the first end portion to the material portion, the second end portion is capable of being moveable between the first position and the second position.

[0020] A top portion of the protruding mechanical engagement part may be configured to engage the pull tab. In this manner, the pull tab can be retained in position in an even more reliable manner. A technical advantage may include enhanced retention of the pull tab, ensuring that it remains securely engaged and reducing the risk of unintentional detachment during use.

[0021] Alternatively, or in addition, a top portion of the protruding mechanical engagement part comprises a circumferential flange for engaging with the pull tab. In this manner, the pull tab can be retained in position in an even more reliable manner. By way of example, the top portion of the protruding mechanical engagement part comprises a circumferential flange for engaging with a through hole of a distal portion of the pull tab. A technical advantage may include improved stability and retention of the pull tab due to the circumferential flange, which provides an additional locking mechanism to prevent accidental disengagement.

[0022] By way of example, the top portion may be configured to provide a snap engagement with a through hole of a distal portion of the pull tab. In this manner, the pull tab can be retained in position in an even more reliable manner.

[0023] By way of example, a circumference of the top portion of the protruding mechanical engagement part may be larger than a circumference of a bottom portion of the protruding mechanical engagement part. In this manner, the pull tab can be retained in position in an even more reliable manner. A technical advantage may include a more secure engagement of the pull tab by creating a tapered structure that enhances the locking capability and reduces the likelihood of slippage.

[0024] The protruding mechanical engagement part may comprise a set of elongated portions arranged and configured to engage with corresponding oppositely arranged edge portions of the pull tab. One advantage of this arrangement is to provide an even more user-friendly configuration of securing the pull tab to the retainer arrangement. By way of example, the protruding mechanical engagement part comprises a set of oppositely arranged rib portions arranged and configured to engage with corresponding oppositely arranged edge portions of the pull tab. Typically, the set of oppositely arranged rib portions may be arranged and configured to engage with corresponding oppositely arranged edge portions of the distal portion of the pull tab. A technical advantage may include distributed engagement across multiple points of the pull tab, which increases the retention force and reduces the risk of failure at any single point.

[0025] The protruding mechanical engagement part defines an inner volume having an inner circumferential surface for accommodating a corresponding mechanical engagement portion of the pull tab. One advantage of this arrangement is to provide an even more user-friendly configuration of securing the pull tab to the retainer arrangement. Another technical advantage may include providing a secure and snug fit for the pull tab, thereby enhancing the overall stability and preventing unintended movement or detachment.

[0026] Typically, the inner volume may have an inner circumferential surface for accommodating a corresponding mechanical engagement portion of the distal portion of the pull tab.

[0027] The protruding engagement portion may be a cylindrical portion.

[0028] The first end portion and the second end portion are typically opposite portions of the base portion. A technical advantage may include improved structural integrity and balance of the pull tab retainer arrangement.

[0029] The second end portion may typically be configured to be folded over the closed part of the slide fastener assembly. The term "folded over" or “folding over”, as used herein, typically means that the second end portion of pull tab retainer arrangement is configured to move or be positioned over and across a part of the slide fastener assembly in a manner that allows the mechanical engagement part to engage the pull tab. Folding over typically implies a level of bendability or flexibility, but not necessarily a complete fold. By such configuration, the mechanical engagement part can be positioned over the slide fastener assembly after the slider has closed the slide fastener assembly for engagement of the pull tab.

[0030] The closed part of the slide fastener assembly may typically refer to a state of the slide fastener assembly in which the fastener elements form the teeth arrangement of the slide fastener assembly.

[0031] The pull tab retainer arrangement may typically be separate from any top stop of the slide fastener assembly. Hereby, the pull tab retainer arrangement is configured to be attached to the slide fastener assembly independently of any top stop. A technical advantage may include increased design flexibility and ease of replacement or repair, as the pull tab retainer arrangement can be independently managed without affecting the top stop of the slide fastener assembly.

[0032] The pull tab retainer arrangement may typically be separate from any bottom stop of the slide fastener assembly. A technical advantage may include improved modularity and maintenance, allowing for the pull tab retainer arrangement to be serviced or replaced independently of the bottom stop, enhancing the overall usability of the slide fastener assembly.

[0033] The base portion may be made of a bendable material. A technical advantage may include enhanced flexibility and adaptability of the pull tab retainer arrangement, allowing it to conform to various shapes and sizes of wearable articles, thereby improving user comfort and retention effectiveness.

[0034] The pull tab retainer arrangement may be configured to be attached to a material portion adjacent to the slide fastener assembly.

[0035] The second end portion may define the bendable part of the base portion.

[0036] The second end portion may define a foldable part of the base portion.

[0037] According to a second aspect thereof, there is provided a slide fastener assembly for a wearable article, the slide fastener assembly comprising a pull tab retainer arrangement according to the first aspect, and further the pull tab, the pull tab having a proximal portion configured to be pivotably coupled to a slider and a distal portion configured to be grasped by a user; the pull tab being pivotable between a first pull tab position and a second pull tab position, wherein the protruding mechanical engagement part is arranged and configured to engage with the distal portion so as to retain the pull tab in the second pull tab position.

[0038] Hereby, the protruding mechanical engagement part is arranged and configured to engage and retain the distal portion of the pull tab in the second pull tab position.

[0039] More specifically, the protruding mechanical engagement part is arranged and configured to engage and retain the distal portion of the pull tab when the pull tab is in the second pull tab position.

[0040] The pull tab may generally have an oval shaped design or egg shaped design. However, it will be recognized that in other embodiments the pull tab may be differently shaped.

[0041] The pull tab may generally be designed and dimensioned to be easily grasped by the fingers of a human. Accordingly, the pull tab has a shape and size that will receive a substantial portion of the pads of a human's finger and thumb. The first end portion of the base portion may be configured to be attached to the material portion adjacent to the slide fastener.

[0042] The first end portion of the base portion may be configured to be attached to the material portion arranged beside the slide fastener. By way of example, the first end portion of the base portion may be configured to be attached to a material portion arranged longitudinally beside the slide fastener.

[0043] In some examples, the first end portion of the base portion may be configured to be pivotably attached to a material portion arranged longitudinally beside the slide fastener.

[0044] Typically, when the pull tab is in the second pull tab position, the pull tab is arranged to face the second end portion of the base portion and forms an engaged configuration with the protruding mechanical engagement part.

[0045] The pull tab may be arranged atop the second end portion of the base portion. Depending on the position and arrangement of the base portion in relation to the slide fastener, it should be noted that the second end portion of the base portion may likewise be arranged atop the pull tab.

[0046] The pull tab may be arranged flush with the base portion.

[0047] The base portion may comprise a first main surface intended to face a teeth arrangement of the slide fastener assembly and a second main surface intended to face the pull tab. Typically, the base portion may comprise a first main surface intended to face a teeth arrangement of the slide fastener assembly and a second main surface intended to face the pull tab when the second end portion of the base portion is positioned in the second position.

[0048] The distal portion of the pull tab may comprise a through-hole, and the protruding mechanical engagement part may be configured to engage with the through-hole.

[0049] The slide fastener assembly may further comprise a detachable mechanical engagement portion configured to be arranged on, or at, the distal portion of the pull tab, the detachable mechanical engagement portion having a corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part configured to engage with the protruding mechanical engagement part. In this manner, there is provided a more versatile arrangement suitable for different types of pull tabs.

[0050] The detachable mechanical engagement portion may be a removable end portion configured to be arranged on the distal portion of the pull tab. The removable end portion may have a corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part configured to engage with the protruding mechanical engagement part. The base portion may comprise an abutment surface arranged and configured to restrict a movement of the slider when the pull tab is in the second pull tab position. In this manner, the pull tab can be retained in position in an even more reliable manner.

[0051] Any one of the base portion and the protruding mechanical engagement part may be made of a flexible material. The other components of the slide fastener assembly, such as the slider, the pull tab and any one of the layers, including the teeth arrangement may be made of a material such as nylon, thermoplastic polyurethane, metal and the like.

[0052] The slide fastener assembly may further comprise the slider and a plurality of fastener elements forming a teeth arrangement for the slider. By way of example, the slide fastener assembly generally comprises a pair of tapes, carrying respective fastener elements (also denoted as teeth), while the slider comprises the pull tab, also denoted as the puller. The slider may be arranged and configured to be movable up to a closing position of the slide fastener assembly where the slider is in contact with a top stop assembly. Hence, the slide fastener assembly may further comprise an end stop, such as a top stop assembly for the slider. Such stops (often referred to as top stops and bottom stops) are attached to either end of the teeth arrangement. The stops limit the extent of movement that the slider can undertake along the teeth arrangement. Generally, a top stop limits movement of the slider in a first sliding direction and a bottom stop limits movement of the slider in a second sliding direction being opposite to the first sliding direction. Typically, stops may be used in order to limit the movement of the slider along the tapes of the slide fastener assembly.

[0053] The term "slide fastener assembly" as used herein may sometimes also refer to a zipper assembly, and includes mechanical connection devices comprising two fastener (zipper)-tape halves, each one provided with teeth or other fastener elements including (e.g. male and / or female) interlocking profiles, which can interlock together or disengaged from another via the use of the slider to form a closed or opened zipper chain, respectively.

[0054] The slide fastener assembly may be made of a material suitable for wet environments. By way of example, the slide fastener assembly may be made of metal, plastics or any other suitable material for the purpose of the garment. Hence, the slide fastener assembly may be any one of a metal open end zipper, a plastic open-end zipper and a coil open end zippers.

[0055] The slide fastener assembly comprises the slider slidably coupled to the opposing tapes or zipper halves. The slider is operable to releasably connect the opposing tapes, or zipper halves, to each other. By way of example, the slider comprises the pull tab having the proximal end pivotally coupled to the slider. In this manner, the opposing tapes, or zipper halves, are engaged to each other in an easy manner along the sliding direction of the slide fastener assembly.

[0056] The first end portion of the base portion may be arranged with a distance from an end region of a fastener element.

[0057] The base portion may be arranged longitudinally below the slider when the plurality of the fastener elements of the teeth arrangement are set in a closed configuration by the slider.

[0058] The base portion may be arranged at an end region of the teeth arrangement and with a distance from the outermost end surface of the end region.

[0059] The base portion may be arranged longitudinally below the slider when the teeth arrangement is set in a closed configuration by the slider.

[0060] The slide fastener assembly may typically comprise a top stop assembly, wherein the pull tab retainer arrangement is separate from the top stop assembly. For example, the pull tab retainer arrangement is arranged on the material portion spaced apart from the top stop assembly.

[0061] The pull tab retainer arrangement and the slide fastener assembly can be used in several different types of wearable articles and garments, including, but not limited to garments for weather protection, fluid-protective garments, such as waterproof garments, water-resistant garments, diving suits, dry suits, protection suits, wet suits, workwear, and other clothing for sport and leisure (e.g. waders and fishing garment suits). The example embodiments of the arrangement and assembly may typically also be used for relatively light-weight garments such as e.g. waterproof jackets, and / or to garments which may be subject to high external forces such as e.g. off-shore applications.

[0062] According to a third aspect thereof, there is provided a pull tab retainer system for a slide fastener assembly of a wearable article, the pull tab retainer system comprising a pull tab retainer arrangement according to the first aspect, and further a detachable mechanical engagement portion configured to be arranged on, or at, a distal portion of a pull tab of the slide fastener assembly, wherein the protruding mechanical engagement part of the pull tab retainer arrangement and the detachable mechanical engagement portion are configured to engage with each other so as to retain the pull tab of the slide fastener assembly.

[0063] According to a fourth aspect thereof, there is provided a wearable article, such as a garment, a boot, a glove or the like. The wearable article comprises a pull tab retainer arrangement according to the first aspect of the disclosure. In addition, or alternatively, the wearable article comprises a slide fastener assembly according to the second aspect of the disclosure. The pair of stringer forms a pair of left and right fastener stringers (first and second fastener stringers 50, 51). The slider 11 is arranged and configured to open and close the pair of left and right fastener stringers 50, 51. In this example, the stringers 50, 51 are bonded to corresponding material portions 40 of the cuff of the arm 104. Each stringer 50, 51 comprises a corresponding tape 52, 53 and a plurality of teeth 15a, 15b, also denoted as fastener element, forming a teeth arrangement 15. The teeth are configured as fastener elements, sometimes also denoted as coupling elements. As such, the slide fastener assembly 10 comprises a teeth arrangement 15, 15a, 15b for the slider 11. More specifically, as illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, the first stringer 50 has a first fastener tape 52, wherein a set of first fastener element (teeth) 15a is arranged at a side-edge portion of the first fastener tape 52. In a similar vein, the second fastener stringer 51 has a second fastener tape 53, wherein a set of second fastener element (teeth) 15b is arranged at a side-edge portion of the second fastener tape 53.

[0090] The fastener elements 15, 15b extend along a first edge of each fastener tape and when the slider 11 of the slide fastener assembly 10 has been moved from an open position 41 (fig, 2A) to a closed position 42 (fig. 2B), corresponding fastener elements of the stringers interdigitate, couple or interlock. When each tape of the slide fastener assembly 10 is attached to separate portions of the wearable article 1 , the separate portions of the wearable article 1 are releasably joined by closing the slide fastener assembly 10 by moving the slider 11 to the closed position 42, and thereby bringing the fastener elements 15a, 15b into the interdigitating relationship. As such the slide fastener assembly 10 generally comprises a pair of tapes 52, 53 carrying respective fastener elements (teeth) 15a, 15b, which form the teeth arrangement 15.

[0091] In addition, as will be further described herein, the closed position 42 of the slide fastener assembly 10 in fig. 2B is a releasable position of the slider 11 of the slide fastener assembly 10. That is, in this position, the slider 11 may still be allowed to slide along a sliding direction A of the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0092] In the following description, as shown in e.g. figs. 2A to 2C, an up-down direction of the slider 11 is a direction that coincides with the sliding direction A of the slider 11 , also denoted as a moving direction of the slider 11. The sliding direction A here generally corresponds to a longitudinal direction X of the slide fastener assembly 10. A left-right direction of the slide fastener assembly 10 is a direction perpendicular to the sliding direction A (up-down direction I longitudinal direction X) in a plan view of the slide fastener assembly 10 in figs. 2A to 2C.

[0093] The slider 11 , and any one of the layers, including the teeth arrangement 15, 15a, 15b may be made of a material such as nylon, thermoplastic polyurethane, metal and the like. In some examples, the fastener tapes 52, 53 are made of a flexible woven fabric, knitted fabric or mixture thereof. Other material may also be readily conceivable. The fastener tapes 52, 53 have an extension in the sliding direction A and a thickness defined by a pair of tape surfaces. The fastener elements 15a, 15b may be configured by an arrangement of resin-made or metal- made elements or by a coil of wound monofilament. The fastener elements 15a, 15b are secured to opposed side-edge portions of the fastener tapes 52, 53. Core threads may be provided at the opposed side-edge portions of the fastener tapes 52, 53 for improved securing of the fastener elements 15a, 15b. The stringers 50, 51 are here connected to corresponding material portions 40 of the cuff of the arm, e.g. by welding, adhesive and / or knitting. The slide fastener assembly 10 here also comprises a stop assembly 54, 55 for the slider 11. The stop assembly 54, 55 is arranged at an end of the sliding length of the slide fastener assembly 10. The stop assembly 54, 55 is arranged and configured to prevent that the slider 11 is disengaged from the teeth arrangement 15 at the closing position (closed position 42) of the slide fastener assembly 10. The stop assembly 54, 55 is here a so-called top stop assembly. A top stop assembly, or simply denoted as a top stop, is arranged at an upper end of the slide fastener assembly 10. As illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, the top stop assembly has a pair of oppositely arranged first and second stop member 54, 55. In fig. 2A, the stop members 54, 55 are illustrated as left and right stop members 54, 55. The stop member 54, 55 are positioned adjacently to the fastener elements 15a, 15b in the fastener stringers 50, 51. As mentioned above, the slider 11 is arranged and configured to be movable up to the closing position (closed position) 42 of the slide fastener assembly 10 where the slider 11 is in contact with the top stop assembly 54, 55. The top stop assembly 54, 55 may in some examples also comprise at least one retaining element (not illustrated) adapted to retain the slider 11 in the closing position 42.

[0094] As illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, the slider 11 here also comprises a slider body 71. The slider body 71 is generally of a conventional type.

[0095] Further, as illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, the slider 11 comprises a pull tab 12, which may sometimes also be denoted as a puller. The pull tab 12 is pivotably provided with respect to the slider body 71. Generally, the pull tab 12 is pivotably connected to the slider body 71.

[0096] The slider body 71 is configured to cooperate with the teeth arrangement 15. As shown in figs. 2A to 2C, the slider body 71 is configured to cooperate with the fastener elements 15a, 15b of the teeth arrangement 15. In a conventional slider 11, the slider body 71 comprises an upper portion, which may be referred to as an upper wing or an upper blade, and a lower portion, which may be referred to as a lower wing or lower blade. The upper and lower portions are connected to each other by a connection post. The upper portion, lower portion and the connection post collectively define channels for the fastener (teeth) elements 15a, 15b the teeth arrangement 15 within the slider body 71. As such, the slider body 71 optionally comprises a cavity along both sides of the length of the slider body 71 through which first fastener element 15a and second fastener element 15b travel when the slider body 71 is actively interlocking or unlocking the coupling elements (i.e. the teeth of the teeth arrangement 15).

[0097] In this manner, the fastener elements (teeth) 15a, 15b of each stringer can pass through the slider body 71 upon manipulation of the pull tab 12. The pull tab 12 may be grasped by the user in order to effectively move the slider 11 along the teeth arrangement 15, for example, in opposite first and second directions A1 and A2 along the sliding direction A.

[0098] The pull tab 12 is generally movable between a first pull tab position 60, as illustrated in fig. 2B, and a second pull tab position 62, as illustrated in fig. 2C. Hence, the first pull tab position 60 here corresponds to the closed position 42 of the slide fastener assembly 10 in fig. 2B. However, in the first pull tab position 60, the slider 11 is still allowed to slide along the sliding direction A of the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0099] In this example, the pull tab 12 has a generally rectangular shape with a through hole 16. However, the pull tab 12 may likewise have an oval or egg shaped design. It will be recognized from the description of the examples in figs. 2A to 10C that the pull tab may be differently shaped.

[0100] The pull tab 12 is generally designed and dimensioned to be easily grasped by the fingers of a user. Accordingly, the pull tab 12 should have a shape and size that can receive a substantial portion of the pads of a human's finger and thumb. The pull tab 12 may be made of a material such as nylon, thermoplastic polyurethane, metal and the like.

[0101] Turning again to the example in figs. 2A to 2C, the pull tab 12 comprises a proximal portion 13. The proximal portion 13 is configured to be pivotably coupled to the slider 11. The pull tab 12 can be pivotably connected to the slider body 71 in several different ways. In figs. 2A to 2C, a pull tab coupling member 72 is provided on a front side 73 of the slider 11. The pull tab coupling member 72 has a stud. The pull tab coupling member 72 extends through a hole 78 arranged at or near the proximal end 13 of the pull tab 12 and couples the pull tab 12 to the slider 11. As such, in this example, the proximal end 13 of the pull tab 12 comprises a through hole 78. The hole 78 of the pull tab 12 cooperates with the pull tab coupling member 72 of the slider 11 and allows the pull tab 12 to swivel according to an arrow, as illustrated in fig. 2B. It should be noted that the pull tab 12 can be pivotably connected to the slider body 71 in other ways, e.g. in the opposite way, in which the pull tab comprises a coupling member configured to extend through a hole arranged at the slider body 71.

[0102] As mentioned above, the slider body 71 has the front side 73. The front side 73 generally faces the outside of the wearable article 1. In example in figs. 2A to 2C, the front side 73 faces away from the wearable article 1. The slider body 71 also has a back side 74, also denoted as rear side, as illustrated in the enlarged view of fig. 2A. The back side 74 of the slider 11 generally faces the inside of the wearable article 1. Moreover, the slider body 71 here has a top side 76 and a bottom side 75. The top side 76 of the slider 11 generally faces an edge or end of the wearable article 1 , such as the top I edge of the wearable article 1. In figs. 2A to 2C, when the slider 11 is arranged in the cuff of the arm, the edge or end of the wearable article 1 is the edge of the cuff. In other examples, the edge or end of the wearable article 1 is the edge of the collar.

[0103] The pull tab 12 further comprises a distal portion 14. The distal portion 14 is configured to be grasped by the user. In figs. 2A to 2C, and also in e.g. figs. 3A to 3C, the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12 comprises the through-hole 16. In other examples, the pull tab 12 is provided without a through-hole 16, see e.g. figs 6A - 6B and figs. 7A - 7B.

[0104] As mentioned above, the pull tab 12 is pivotable between the first pull tab position 60 and the second pull tab position 62. The pull tab is pivotable about pull tab coupling member 72.

[0105] Further, in figs. 2A to 2C, there is disclosed a pull tab retainer arrangement 20 according to an example. The pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is here a separate part configured to be connected to a portion of the wearable article 1 adjacent the slide fastener assembly, as depicted in figs. 2A to 2C. By way of example, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is securely connected to the material portion 40 of the wearable article 1. In addition, or alternatively, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is a separate part configured to be connected to a portion of the slide fastener assembly 10, such as the stringer 50 of the slide fastener assembly 10. In other examples, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is an integral part of the wearable article 1. In other examples, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is an integral part of the slide fastener assembly 10. In the above examples, and as illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is separate from the top stop assembly 54, 55 of the slide fastener assembly 10. As depicted in figs. 2A to 2C, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is arranged spaced apart from the top stop assembly 54, 55. As such, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is arranged on the material portion 40 spaced apart from the top stop assembly 54, 55. To this end, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is attached to the slide fastener assembly 10 independently of the presence the top stop or the arrangement of the top stop. Moreover, it should be noted that the pull tab retainer arrangement is here also separate from any bottom stop (not shown) of the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0106] In figs. 2A to 2C, the slide fastener assembly 10 comprises the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 according to an example. The pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is here connected to the material portion 40 of the cuff of the arm. As such, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is arranged on the material portion 40 of the cuff of the arm. The material portion 40 is thus an integral part of the cuff of the arm, i.e. the material portion 40 is an integral part of the wearable article (garment 1). As illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 comprises a base portion 30. The base portion 30 typically extends a substantial part in a first direction X, here corresponding to the longitudinal direction X, and a substantial part in a second direction Y, the second direction being perpendicular to the first direction. The second direction Y here generally corresponds to a transverse direction. The first direction corresponds to the longitudinal direction X, the second direction corresponds to the transverse direction Y. The base portion 30 further has a thickness, t, in a third direction Z. The third direction Z is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X. The three directions X, Y, and Z are oriented relative to each other according to a Cartesian coordinate system. That is, the three axis corresponding to the three directions X, Y, and Z go through a common point (origin O), and are pair-wise perpendicular. As mentioned herein, the longitudinal direction X generally corresponds to the sliding direction A.

[0107] As illustrated in e.g. figs. 2A to 2C, the base portion 30 comprises a first end portion 32 and a second end portion 34. In particular, the base portion 30 comprises opposite first and second end portions 32, 34. As such, in this example, the first end portion 32 and the second end portion 34 are opposite portions of the base portion 30. The first end portion 32 is configured to be attached to the wearable article 1. More specifically, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is configured to be attached to the material portion 40 of the wearable article 1. In figs. 2A to 2C, the first end portion 32 is attached to the material portion 40 of the wearable article 1. Typically, the first end portion 32 and the second end portion 34 are opposite portions of the base portion 30 as seen in the direction Y of the base portion 30. The direction Y (transverse direction) is perpendicular to the direction X (longitudinal direction), which in the figures corresponds to the sliding direction A (when the base portion 30 is attached to the material portion 40 and the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is positioned to engage the pull tab, as in Fig. 2C).

[0108] As mentioned herein, the material portion 40 may be a portion of the garment making up the wearable article and / or a material portion of a slide fastener base layer. Hence, the material portion 40 may be an integral part of the slide fastener assembly 10. In other examples, the material portion may be an integral part of the fabric of the wearable article 1. Accordingly, the first end portion 32 is configured to be attached to a material portion of any one of the wearable article 1 and the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0109] Typically, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is attached to the material portion 40 of the wearable article 1 such that the first end portion 32 is arranged with a distance d beside the slide fastener 11. In particular, as illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is attached to the material portion 40 of the wearable article 1 such that the first end portion 32 is arranged with a distance d beside the slide fastener 11 , as seen in a direction perpendicular to the sliding direction A. As such, the first end portion 32 is configured to be attached to the material portion 40 adjacent to the slide fastener 11. Accordingly, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is arranged on the material portion 40, which is also spaced apart from the top stop assembly.

[0110] In figs. 2A to 2C, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is arranged to the material portion 40 of the wearable article 1 with a distance d from an end region 77 of the teeth arrangement 15. In particular, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is arranged to the material portion 40 of wearable article 1 with a distance d from an outermost end part of the end region 77 of the teeth arrangement 15, as seen in a direction (here the direction Y) perpendicular to the sliding direction A.

[0111] In addition, or alternatively, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is arranged to the first fastener tape 52 with a distance d from an end region 77 of the first fastener element 15a.

[0112] In other examples, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is arranged to the first stringer 50 with a distance d from an end region 77 of the first fastener element 15a.

[0113] The first end portion can also (or instead ) be arranged to the opposite side. Hence, in other examples, not illustrated, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is arranged to the second fastener tape 53 with a distance d from an end region 77 of the second fastener element 15b.

[0114] In other examples, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is arranged to the second stringer 51 with a distance d from an end region 77 of the second fastener element 15b.

[0115] Moreover, as illustrated in e.g. figs. 2A to 2C, the base portion 30 is arranged longitudinally below the slider 11 when the fastener elements 15a, 15b of the teeth arrangement 15 are set in a closed configuration by the slider 11. In this context, longitudinally below generally refer to a position below the slider in the sliding direction A. Also, the base portion 30 is arranged longitudinally below the top stop assembly 54. 55 when the fastener elements 15a, 15b of the teeth arrangement 15 are set in a closed configuration by the slider 11. The second end portion 34 is configured to be positioned over a closed part of the slide fastener assembly 10. More specifically, the second end portion 34 is the free end of the base portion 30 that is configured to be positioned over the closed part of the slide fastener assembly 10. The closed part of the slide fastener assembly 10 is here the fastener elements 15a, 15b forming the teeth arrangement 15 of the slide fastener assembly 10. Turning now again to the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30. As illustrated in figs.

[0116] 2A to 2C, and also in fig. 3A, the second end portion 34 is a free end. As such, the second end portion 34 is the free end of the base portion 30. That is, the second end portion 34 is the free end of the base portion 30 and the first end portion 32 is the attachable end of the base portion 34 that is attached to the material portion 40 (after integration of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 in the wearable article). In this context, the free end refers to the end of the base portion that is not attached, or intended to be attached, to the material portion 40. Accordingly, the second end portion 34 is the part of the base portion that is the non-attached portion of the base portion 30. When the first end portion 32 is attached to the material portion 40, the second end portion 34 is bendable about the attachment region (formed by the first end portion 32 being attached to the material portion 40). The free end (i.e. the second end portion 34) extends from the attached first end portion 32, as shown in figs. 2A to 2C. As such, the second end portion 34 is the free end of the base portion 30 relative to the first end portion 32, which is the end configured to be attached to the material portion 40.

[0117] Moreover, as also illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, and also in fig. 3A, the second end portion 34 comprises a protruding mechanical engagement part 35. The protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is arranged to protrude away from the second end portion 34, as seen in the direction Z.

[0118] The protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is configured to engage and retain the pull tab 12 of the slide fastener assembly 10, as illustrated in e.g. fig. 2C and fig. 3C.

[0119] In addition, as may be gleaned from fig. 3A, illustrating the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 of a boot, the base portion 30 of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is pivotably attached to the material portion 40. In particular, the base portion 30 is configured to be pivotably attached to the material portion 40 via the first end portion 32. As the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 is attached to the material portion 40, whilst the second end portion 34 is a free end portion, the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 is capable of pivoting about the first end portion 32. To this end, the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 is configured to pivot between a first position 64 and a second position 68. In other words, the base portion 30 is attached to the material portion 40 so as to allow the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 to move between the first position 64 and the second position 68. For ease of reference, the first position 64 and the second position 68 of the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 may refer to first and second position of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20.

[0120] In the first position 64 (see e.g. fig. 3A ), the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in a disengaged state with the pull tab 12. In the first position 64, the slider 11 is allowed to slide along the sliding direction A of the slide fastener assembly 10. The first position 64 generally corresponds to a releasable position of the slider 11 of the slide fastener assembly 10. In the second position 68 (see e.g. fig. 2C and / or fig. 3C), the slider 11 is prevented from sliding along the sliding direction A of the slide fastener assembly 10. This is due to that the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in an engaged state with the pull tab 12, as described herein. Hence, in the second position 68, the pull tab 12 is maintained in position by the pull tab retainer arrangement 20, thereby preventing the slider 11 from moving downwardly in a direction A2 along the sliding direction A. In this context, the direction A2 refers to the opening direction of the slider 11.

[0121] Moreover, the second position 68 (see e.g. fig. 2C and / or fig. 3C) is a position in which the pull tab 12 is at a rest position when the slider 11 is arranged to maintain the closed state I closed position 42 of the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0122] In e.g. figs. 2A to 2C, when the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in the second position 68, i.e. the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 is in the second position 68, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 typically protrudes in a direction away from the wearable article 1. The protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is here arranged to protrude away from the second end portion 34 in a direction that is perpendicular to the sliding direction A of the slide fastener assembly 10, as illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, and when the slider 11 is in the closed position 42 (i.e. the second pull tab position 62), as illustrated in e.g. fig. 2C.

[0123] Moreover, when the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in the second position 68, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is essentially arranged and positioned in alignment with the pull tab 12. More specifically, when the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in the second position 68, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is essentially arranged and positioned in alignment with the pull tab 12 as seen in the sliding direction A. Typically, this also means that when the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in the second position 68, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is essentially arranged and positioned in alignment with the pull tab 12 as seen in the longitudinal direction X.

[0124] As mentioned above, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is arranged and configured to engage and retain the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12 when the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 is in the second position 68 and the pull tab 12 is in the second pull tab position 62. Fig. 2C, and also fig. 3C, shows one example of the second pull tab position 62 where the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is engaged with the distal portion 14 and thus arranged to retain the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12. In fig. 2C, and also in fig. 3C, the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 is in the second position 68 and the pull tab 12 is in the second pull tab position 62. Accordingly, in examples of the disclosure, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is configured to engage and retain the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12.

[0125] Moreover, the second end portion 34 is positioned over a closed part of the slide fastener assembly 10. For example, as illustrated in e.g. figs. 2B and 2C, the second end portion 34 is positioned over the fastener elements 15a, 15b forming the teeth arrangement 15 of the slide fastener assembly 15. As such, the second end portion 34 is positioned over the fastener elements 15a, 15b in the closed position 42 of the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0126] As the first end portion 32 is attached to the material portion 40, the second end portion 34 is here configured to be positioned over the fastener elements 15a, 15b in the closed position 42 of the slide fastener assembly 10 by folding a part, or the entire second end portion 34, over the closed fastener elements 15a, 15b forming the teeth arrangement 15. This means that the free end of the base portion 30, i.e. the second end portion 34 of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is configured to be positioned over and across a part of the slide fastener assembly 10 in a manner that allows it to engage the pull tab. Folding over here typically implies a level of bendability or flexibility, but not necessarily a complete fold. As such, the base portion is typically made of a bendable material such as rubber. Rubber is also a flexible material. Hence, in one example, the base portion is made of a bendable and flexible material.

[0127] In some examples, the second end portion 34 defines the bendable part of the base portion 30. In some examples, the second end portion 34 also defines a foldable part of the base portion 30.

[0128] As such, the second end portion 34 is configured to be folded over the closed part of the slide fastener assembly 10, wherein the closed part of the slide fastener assembly 10 is the fastener elements 15a, 15b forming the teeth arrangement 15 of the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0129] Accordingly, the second end portion 34 is positioned over the fastener elements 15a, 15b of the slide fastener assembly 10 after the slider 11 has closed the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0130] The arrangement and configuration of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 provides for reducing the risk of having the slider 11 to unintentionally move in the direction A2 along the sliding direction A and to unexpectedly open during use of the wearable article 1. As such, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 allows for a more secure retainment of the pull tab 12 and the slider body 71 of the slider 11 in comparison to a conventional zipper that is locked only by meshing of zipper elements. Such conventional zippers may often face a problem that the zipper opens unexpectedly even when the zipper is closed or in its engaged state. In particular, the arrangement and configuration of the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 provides for an engagement with the pull tab 12 so as to retain the pull tab 12 in the second pull tab position 62, thus restricting, or at least reducing the risk of movement of the slider 11 along the sliding direction of the slider 11. The sliding direction A here generally corresponds to the longitudinal direction X of the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0131] More specifically, when the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in its second position 68, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is arranged to engage with the pull tab 12 so as to retain the pull tab 12 in its second pull tab position 62, corresponding to an engagement state between the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 and the pull tab 12 of the slider 11.

[0132] Hence, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is configured to maintain the pull tab 12 in the second pull tab position 62, and configured to restrict movement of the slider 11 along the longitudinal direction X, here corresponding to the sliding direction A of the slider 11.

[0133] In figs. 2A to 2C, and also in e.g. figs. 3A to 3C, when the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 is positioned in the second position 68 and the pull tab 12 is positioned in the second pull tab position 62, the pull tab 12 is arranged on the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 and forms the engaged configuration with the protruding mechanical engagement part 35. Moreover, the pull tab 12 is arranged atop the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30. As may be gleaned from e.g. fig. 2C, the pull tab 12 is arranged in alignment with the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30. In addition, the pull tab 12 is arranged essentially flush with the base portion 30.

[0134] It should be noted that although figs. 2A to 2C, and also in figs. 3A to 3C, illustrate an arrangement in which the pull tab 12 is arranged atop the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30, as seen in the direction Z and from the view of the pull tab 12, the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 may in other examples likewise be arranged atop the pull tab 12. Hence, the pull tab 12 can either be arranged atop the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 or the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 can be arranged atop the pull tab 12. To this end, the pull tab 12 is superposed the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 when the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in its second position 68 and the pull tab 12 is in its second pull tab position 62.

[0135] Moreover, as illustrated in e.g. fig. 2B, the base portion 30 comprises a first main surface 36 and a second main surface 37. The first main surface 36 and second main surface 37 are oppositely arranged surfaces. When the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in its second position 68, the first main surface 36 and the second main surface 37 are oppositely arranged surfaces in the direction Z. The first main surface 36 is intended to face the teeth arrangement 15, 15a, 15b of the slide fastener assembly 10. The second main surface 37 is intended to face the pull tab 12. In particular, the first main surface 36 is arranged to face the teeth arrangement 15 of the slide fastener assembly 10 and the second main surface 37 is arranged to face the pull tab 12 when the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is in its second position 68 and the pull tab 12 is in is in its second pull tab position 62.

[0136] In addition, the first main surface 36 is here a rear main surface of the base portion 30. The second main surface 37 is here a front main surface of the base portion 30.

[0137] It should be noted that when the second end portion 34 is positioned over the fastener elements 15a, 15b, the first main surface 36 is arranged to face the fastener elements 15a, 15b.

[0138] Typically, although strictly not necessary, the base portion 30 further comprises an abutment surface 90 arranged and configured to restrict a movement of the slider 11. In particular, as illustrated in e.g. figs. 2B, 2C and / or fig. 3C, the base portion 30 comprises an abutment surface 90 that is arranged and configured to restrict a movement of the slider 11 along the direction A2 of the sliding direction A when the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 is in the second position 68 and the pull tab 12 is in the second pull tab position 62. The abutment surface 90 is here a top surface of the base position 30 as seen in the sliding direction A (here corresponding to the longitudinal direction X). In addition, as illustrated in e.g. figs. 2B, 2C and / or fig. 3C, the abutment surface 90 is arranged to abut the bottom side 75 of the slider body 71.

[0139] The protruding mechanical engagement part 35 can be dimensioned and shaped in several different ways so as to provide a reliable engagement with the pull tab 12 or any portion related to the pull tab. Typically, at least the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 should be made of a flexible material. By way of example, the base portion 30 including the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is made of a flexible material. In one example, the base portion 30 is thus made of a bendable and flexible material. One example of such material is rubber.

[0140] Moreover, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 should be attached to the material portion 40 at a suitable position from the slider body 71 in the sliding direction A (here corresponding to the longitudinal direction X) of the slider 11, as measured when the slider 11 is in the closed position 42. Typically, the first end portion 32 of the base portion 30 should be attached to the material portion 40 such that the abutment surface 90 is at a distance from the bottom side 75 of the slider body 71 , as measured in the sliding direction A and when the slider 11 is in the closed position 42.

[0141] Moreover, a distance between the abutment surface 90 and the centre of the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 may essentially be commensurate with, or be less than, a distance between the centre of the through-hole 16 and the bottom side 75 of the slider body 71.

[0142] As illustrated in figs. 2A to 2C, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 comprises a top portion 38. The top portion 38 is configured to retain the pull tab 12.

[0143] Alternatively, or in addition, the top portion 38 of the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 comprises a circumferential flange 33 for retaining the pull tab, as is also depicted in fig. 2B. By way example, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is a mushroom-shaped protruding mechanical engagement part 35.

[0144] In this example, the top portion 38 is configured to provide a snap engagement with the through hole 16 of the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12. As such, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is configured to engage with the through-hole 16 of the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12.

[0145] The top portion 38 may also have a cross-section resembling a pear. By way of example, as e.g. illustrated in figs. 4A - 4B, a circumference 57 of the top portion 38 of the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is larger than a circumference 58 of a bottom portion 39 of the protruding mechanical engagement part 35. A similar example is disclosed in figs. 5A - 5B.

[0146] The protruding mechanical engagement part 35 can also be provided in the form of spacedapart elongated portions. By way of example, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 comprises a set of elongated portions 91, 92, as illustrated in figs. 7A to 7B. As illustrated in e.g. figs. 7A to 7B, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 here comprises a set of oppositely arranged rib portions 91, 92 which are arranged and configured to engage with corresponding oppositely arranged edge portions 17, 18 of the pull tab 12.

[0147] More specifically, the set of oppositely arranged rib portions 91, 92 is arranged and configured to engage with corresponding oppositely arranged edge portions 17, 18 of the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12. In other examples, as illustrated in e.g. figs. 6A to 6B, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 defines an inner volume 94 having an inner circumferential surface 95 for accommodating a corresponding mechanical engagement portion 19 of the pull tab 12.

[0148] In particular, the inner volume 94 has an inner circumferential surface 95 for accommodating a corresponding mechanical engagement portion 19 of the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12.

[0149] In this example, as depicted in figs. 6A and 6B, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is provided in the form of a hollow cylindrical portion 93. The protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is made of a flexible material adapted to accommodate the corresponding mechanical engagement portion 19. The corresponding mechanical engagement portion 19 is generally provided of a similar size as the hollow cylindrical portion 93 or slightly bigger than the hollow cylindrical portion 93, so as to provide the needed friction between the portions 35 and 19.

[0150] In other examples, as illustrated in figs. 8A to 8C, 9A to 9C and / or figs. 10A to 10C, the slide fastener assembly 10 further comprises a detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 configured to be arranged on, or at, the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12. The detachable mechanical engagement portion comprises a corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part 81 configured to engage with the protruding mechanical engagement part 35.

[0151] By way of example, in figs. 8A to 8C, the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 is configured to be arranged at the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12 and through the through hole 16. Hence, the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 is at least partly insertable through the through hole 16. The detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 here comprises a flange 82 configured to abut the pull tab 12, while the corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part 81 is positioned on the other side of the pull tab 12 when the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 is inserted through the through hole 16. In this position, the corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part 81 is arranged to engage with the protruding mechanical engagement part 35.

[0152] Favourably, the corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part 81 is made of a flexible material. In addition, the corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part 81 has a larger circumference than the circumference of the through hole 16, as illustrated in figs. 8A.

[0153] By way of example, the cross-sectional area of the corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part 81 is larger than the area of the through hole 16. Hereby, the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80, as illustrated in figs. 8A to 8C, can be inserted through the through hole 16 and locked in position by the geometrical differences between the flange 82, the through hole 16 and the protruding mechanical engagement part 81. In addition, as may be gleaned from e.g. fig. 8A, the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 comprises an intermediate portion in-between the flange 82 and the protruding mechanical engagement part 81. The intermediate portion has a cross-sectional area that is smaller than the through hole 16. The intermediate portion also has a cross-sectional area that is smaller than the flange 82 and the protruding mechanical engagement part 81.

[0154] The protruding mechanical engagement part 81 is thus arranged at the pull tab 12 and further arranged to engage with the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 of the base portion 30 of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20, as illustrated in fig. 8C. In this example, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 comprises a number of elongated portions arranged to form an inner volume for accommodating the protruding mechanical engagement part 81 , thus retaining the pull tab 12 in the second pull tab position 62. As such, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is configured to engage with the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 so as to retain the pull tab 12 in the second pull tab position 62. The protruding mechanical engagement part 35 and the protruding mechanical engagement part 81 can be mutually designed in several different manners to provide the engagement between the components so as to ensure that pull tab 12 can be retains in the second pull tab position 62.

[0155] Figs. 9A to 9C depict another example of a detachable mechanical engagement portion 80, which here is provided in the form of a removable end portion configured to be arranged on the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12. Moreover, the removable end portion (detachable mechanical engagement portion 80) comprises the corresponding protruding mechanical engagement part 81 configured to engage with the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 of the base portion 30. The detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 further has an opening (not illustrated) allowing for insertion of the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 around the distal part 14 of the pull tab 12. The opening of the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 should be designed to provide a tight fit around the distal part 14 of the pull tab 12.

[0156] In fig. 9A to 9C, the protruding mechanical engagement part 81 is designed as a sphere, or as a pear-shaped part, while the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is designed to accommodate the protruding mechanical engagement part 81.

[0157] Figs. 10A to 10C depict another example of a detachable mechanical engagement portion 80. In this example, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 and the protruding mechanical engagement part 81 are designed in an opposite way as compared to the example in figs. 9A to 9C. That is, the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 is here designed as a sphere, or as a pear-shaped part, while the protruding mechanical engagement part 81 is designed to accommodate the protruding mechanical engagement part 35. Hence, the example in figs. 9A to 9C and 10A to 10C can be used for any type of pull tab, i.e. it can be used both for pull tabs with a through hole and pull tabs without a through hole.

[0158] In figs. 8A to 8C, 9A to 9C and / or figs. 10A to 10C, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 and the detachable mechanical engagement portion 80 forms a pull tab retainer system 200. The pull tab retainer system 200 can be used in any type of slide fastener assembly 10 as described herein. The pull tab retainer system 200 can be incorporated in any type of wearable article 1 as described herein.

[0159] To sum up, there is provided a slide fastener assembly 10 for the wearable article 1. The slide fastener assembly 10 comprises the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 and further the pull tab 12. The pull tab has the proximal portion 13 configured to be pivotably coupled to the slider 11 and the distal portion 14 configured to be grasped by the user. In addition, the pull tab 12 is pivotable arranged between the first pull tab position 60 and the second pull tab position 62, wherein the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is arranged and configured to engage and retain the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12 when the second end portion 34 of the base portion 30 is in the second position 68 and the pull tab 12 is in the second pull tab position 62.

[0160] The slide fastener assembly 10 here further comprises the first fastener stringer 50 comprising the first fastener tape 52 having a first row of fastener elements 15a mounted on a first longitudinal edge of the first fastener tape; a second fastener stringer 52 comprising a second fastener tape 53 having a second row of fastener elements 15b mounted on a second longitudinal edge of the second fastener tape. Moreover, the first row of fastener elements 15a is configured to be interdigitated with the second row of fastener elements 15b along the sliding direction A in order to secure the first fastener stringer 51 and the second fastener stringer 52 together.

[0161] The wearable article 1 is any one of a garment, a boot, a glove or the like. In particular, the wearable article 1 can be a fluid-protective boot, fluid-protective glove, a fluid-protective garment, such as a waterproof garment, a water-resistant garment, a diving suit, a dry suit, a protection suit, a wet suit, or a workwear, that may have one or more portions with edges to be releasably coupled together with the slide fastener assembly 10 as described herein.

[0162] During use of the wearable article 1 and the slide fastener assembly 10, as schematically illustrated by figs. 2A to 2C and / or 3A to 3C, the slider 11 is initially moved upwardly in the sliding direction A (see e.g. fig. 2A) by the user. Simultaneously, or in sequence, e.g. in a two- step operation, the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is manipulated (lifted) by the user from its second position 68 to its first position 64 (see fig. 3A). Eventually, the slider 11 is at its closed position 42 (see fig. 2B and / or fig. 3B), and the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 is manipulated by the user from its first position 64 to its second position 68 (see fig. 2B and / or fig. 3B). As such, the second end portion 34 is positioned over the closed teeth arrangement. More specifically, the second end portion 34 is positioned over the closed teeth arrangement 15 and longitudinally below the slider 11. Hence, the second end portion 34 is positioned over the closed teeth arrangement 15 in the direction Z, longitudinally below the slider 11 in the direction X , and longitudinally below the top stop (top stop assembly 54, 55). More specifically, the second end portion 34 is positioned over the closed teeth arrangement 15 in the direction Z, across the closed teeth arrangement 15 in the direction Y, longitudinally below the slider 11 in the direction X, and longitudinally below the top stop (top stop assembly 54, 55). To this end, the free end (second end portion 34) is folded over the closed teeth arrangement 15. Finally, the pull tab 12 is manipulated by the user from its first pull tab position 60 (see fig. 2B and / or fig. 3B) to its second pull tab position 62. Moreover, in this position, the user further secures the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12 on the protruding mechanical engagement part 35 of the base portion 30 so as to engage the pull tab 12 with the protruding mechanical engagement part 35, whereby the engaged state provides for retaining the distal portion 14 of the pull tab 12 to the base portion 30 of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 during use of the wearable article 1 and the slide fastener assembly 10.

[0163] Hence, thanks to the examples of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20 and the slide fastener assembly 10, as described above in relation to the figures 1 to 10c, it becomes possible to provide a reliable retainment of the slider 11 at its closed position by securing the position of the pull tab 12 by means of the arrangement and configuration of the pull tab retainer arrangement 20. Similar advantages are provided by the pull tab retainer system 200.

[0164] In particular, it becomes possible to provide a more user friendly and intuitive retainment system for slide fastener assemblies for wearable articles, including, but not restricted to garments making up a dry suit or the like.
