Description

[0001] The invention relates to a frame for a door with extruded frame profiles with a threshold, a door with such a frame and a method for manufacturing the same. Technical field

[0002] Plastic has become established as a material for frame profiles in the manufacture of windows and doors in many markets due to its efficient processing and the durability of the products. Plastic profiles are generally cut at a miter and welded together at the miter joint to form a frame. At least in larger manufacturing operations, the production of frame and sash profiles from plastic profiles typically takes place on complex production lines where the individual work steps are carried out sequentially in a timed sequence. To enable efficient production, no single work step may take significantly longer than others, as otherwise the entire production line would have to be operated at a correspondingly slower speed.

[0003] Many doors have a frame with the same profile on all sides. This has the advantage that the frame can be welded at the four corners, improving both airtightness and strength. However, this design creates the problem that the frame protrudes above the floor, posing a tripping hazard. To avoid this, especially in public buildings and accessible housing, thresholds are installed at floor level instead of the frame profile used on the other sides. These thresholds are typically screwed to the rest of the frame. Ensuring proper sealing and drainage in this case is relatively complex.

[0004] In the case of sliding doors, such as those known from DE 202007015160 U1, the threshold must be formed from different profiles than the other three sides in order to accommodate the running track. State of the art

[0005] From DE 102022206444 B4 a door is known which is characterized by the fact that the same frame profile is arranged on the floor and this profile is then processed to form the threshold.

[0006] The solution revealed there reduces the step-over height compared to an unprocessed frame, but does not meet the requirements regarding barrier-free access. Task

[0007] The object of the present invention is therefore to optimize a generic frame for a door with a threshold known from DE 102022206444 B4 with regard to the step-over height and to further ensure tightness and drainage. Description of the invention

[0008] The invention solves this problem by providing a frame for a door, preferably a balcony or patio door, wherein the frame consists, as usual, of extruded frame profiles joined together at the miter joint. However, the door could also be, for example, a front door. The door has at least one threshold.

[0009] The conventional frame profile has at least a base area with several hollow chambers, a rebate area, and a frame overlap with at least one overlap hollow chamber, wherein the at least one overlap hollow chamber has at least one frame overlap wall. The frame overlap serves as a stop for a movable window door frame. When the door is closed, the frame overlap also seals the rebate area from the surroundings. Preferably, the frame profile has a central gasket boss in the rebate area to accommodate a central gasket.

[0010] At least one of the frame profiles is reduced by at least part of its overlap. This is usually the frame profile that rests on the floor. The reduction cuts through the overlap walls of the original frame profile, leaving at least one overlap cavity open on the side facing away from the base. This overlap wall contains at least one drainage hole to allow water to drain away during use.

[0011] According to the invention, the at least one sill is elastically tensioned over at least one frame overlap wall, at least one open overlap cavity, and an edge in the rebate area. This tensioning firmly connects the sill to the frame profile. The edge is located between the frame overlap and a hardware or glazing bead retaining groove. A hardware groove serves to accommodate hardware. A glazing bead retaining groove serves to accommodate glazing beads. In the case of fixed glazing, a pane of glass is installed in the frame and held in place by a glazing bead. If a sash is connected to the frame, the hardware groove serves to accommodate hardware that connects the frame to the sash.Since frame profiles can usually be used universally for both fixed glazing and the use of sashes, frame profiles mostly have grooves that can be used both as glazing bead holding grooves and hardware grooves.

[0012] According to the invention, the edge is located in the rebate area between the frame overlap and a fitting or glazing bead retaining groove. This is equivalent to the fact that the frame overlap does not belong to the rebate area. Rather, the frame overlap is located next to the rebate area on the side facing away from the glazing bead retaining groove or fitting groove.

[0013] Advantageous configurations result from the characteristics of the dependent claims.

[0014] Advantageously, the aforementioned edge in the rebate area is either the side facing the interior of a remnant of a reduced central gasket dome or the side facing the exterior of a recess for a glazing bead bridge. At least one of these parts is part of a standard frame profile and, due to its parallel orientation to the glass plane, is very well suited for locking.

[0015] In an advantageous embodiment, the threshold has a leg which, in the assembled state, is located on the side facing the rebate area and is directed towards the foot area within the rebate. This leg serves for locking.

[0016] Preferably, the aforementioned leg engages with its edge in the fold area. For this purpose, the leg preferably has a point, and this point engages with the edge in the fold area.

[0017] Preferably, the threshold extends across the width of the entire frame up to the mitered area.

[0018] According to an advantageous embodiment, the threshold has grooves and threshold openings in these grooves, as well as at least one groove which is suitable for locking into a frame overlap wall.

[0019] Preferably, drainage openings penetrate at least one overlapping hollow chamber. This allows drainage to occur.

[0020] The invention also includes a door with a previously described frame and a matching sash frame made of extruded sash frame profiles, which are connected to each other in the mitered area.

[0021] In an advantageous embodiment, a weather bar with at least one brush seal is connected to the sash frame profile of a door according to the invention. The weather bar with at least one brush seal engages in the sash frame profile, which rests against the threshold, in such a way that, when the door is closed, at least one brush seal seals the gap to the threshold. Brief description of the drawing

[0022] The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments and the drawing. The drawings show: Fig. 1 a part of a door with the frame according to the invention; Fig. 2 a cross-section of a frame profile; Fig. 3 a cross-section of the frame profile made of Figure 2with a reduced frame overlap and threshold according to the invention, Fig. 4 a threshold of a frame profile according to the invention; Fig. 5 a reduced frame overlap with threshold according to the invention together with an associated door leaf and Fig. 6 another reduced frame overlap according to the invention with threshold and ramp together with an associated door leaf.

[0023] The same reference symbols in different figures have the same meaning. Not all reference symbols are shown in all figures.

[0024] Figure 1Figure 1 shows a section of a door 2, which is usually a balcony or patio door. The door 2 has a frame 1 and a door leaf 9. The frame 1 consists of extruded PVC frame profiles 4, which are joined together at the miter joint 8. However, the invention is also applicable to aluminum frame profiles. A threshold 3 is connected to the lowest frame profile 4.

[0025] Figure 2Figure 1 shows the structure of the frame profile 4. This profile has a base 5 with several hollow chambers 10, 11, a rebate 6, and a frame overlap 7 with an overlap hollow chamber 11. A metallic reinforcing profile 25 is arranged in a central, large hollow chamber 10; the rebate 6 is located above this. A stop seal 42 is arranged on the frame overlap 7. When the door 2 is closed, a frame stop section of a door leaf 9 abuts against this seal, thus sealing the rebate 6 from the surroundings. The rebate 6 extends between the frame overlap 7 and a glazing bead retaining groove 35. The overlap hollow chamber 11 has limiting frame overlap walls 12.In the rebate area 6, which is located next to the frame overlap 7 and simultaneously above a central, large hollow chamber 10 in which the metallic reinforcing profile 25 is arranged, a central gasket dome 27 is arranged; a central gasket 28 is extruded onto this dome. The central gasket dome 27 is a thin-walled structure with a central gasket dome hollow chamber 40 and a sealing groove 41. The glazing bead retaining groove 35 at the edge of the rebate area 6 can also serve to accommodate fittings (not shown) in frame constructions.

[0026] Figure 3 The frame profile 4 shows Figure 2with a reduced overlap cavity 11, for which the two frame overlap walls 12 are cut through at the same height level. The overlap cavity 11 is thus open on the side facing away from the base area 5. In the two frame overlap walls 12, there are local drainage openings 24 at regular intervals in the extrusion direction of the frame profile 4, which is identical to the direction perpendicular to the plane of the drawing.

[0027] The frame profile 4 also has a reduced central gasket dome 27, whereby the central gasket 28 is completely removed and the remaining walls of the central gasket dome 27 terminate at the same height level above the rebate base as the two frame overlap walls 12. This height level is at most as high as the height level of the glazing bead retaining groove 35. As a result, essentially an edge 37 remains of the central gasket dome 27, running at least approximately perpendicular to the rebate base.

[0028] At the same time, it shows Figure 3 a threshold 3, which also exists alone in Figure 4The threshold 3 is usually an extruded aluminum part. The threshold 3 has a groove 15 which can be locked into the reduced frame overlap 12 facing the rebate area 6. The threshold 3 has grooves 18 and subsequently milled continuous threshold openings 17 in these grooves 18 on the upper surface in the area which, in the assembled state shown in the following figures, covers the overlap cavity 11 and the rebate area 6 up to and over the central sealing dome 27. A leg 38 is located at the lateral end of the threshold 3 facing the rebate area 6. A point 39 is located on this leg 38.The threshold 3 and the frame profile 4 are aligned such that, in the assembled state, the tip 39 of the leg 38 engages at the edge 37 in the rebate area 6, and simultaneously the frame overlap wall 12 facing the rebate area 6 engages in the groove 15 of the threshold 3. Preferably, the aforementioned frame overlap wall 12 is elastically bent slightly towards the rebate area 6, so that the threshold 3 is elastically clamped between the groove 15 and the tip 39 of the leg 38.

[0029] Figure 5 The threshold 3 is elastically clamped on the reduced frame profile 4; this corresponds to the device from Figure 3In its assembled state, the frame profile 4 is installed between a building floor 29 and a floor 31 outside the building. A grate 30 is arranged on the floor. The drainage openings 24 open into the grate 30, which connects to the threshold 3 on the outside of the building. Partially above the frame profile 4 and the threshold 3, a sash profile 21 with a weather bar 33 is visible. Brush seals 34 are arranged on the weather bar 33 to close the gap to the threshold 3. A brush seal 34 is also arranged on the overlap of the sash profile 21, which seals against the glazing bead groove 35 when the door is closed. It can be seen that the threshold 3 is only very slightly raised above the building floor 29 and the sill 30.

[0030] In Figure 6Figure 1 shows another frame profile 4 according to the invention, installed in a building, with a reduced overlapping hollow chamber 11 and an attached threshold 3 with a door leaf. While in Figure 5 The building floor 29 transitions into the glazing bead retaining groove 35 of the frame profile 4, at the door in Figure 6 It is provided that a ramp 36 rising from the building floor 29 covers the glazing bead retaining groove 35 and ends at the level of the threshold 3. A further brush seal 34, attached to the sash frame profile 21, seals the gap between the ramp 36 and the door sash. The drainage openings 24 below the level of the threshold 3 allow water to drain away via a grate 30 to a drainage channel 32.

[0031] One advantage of the invention is that the threshold 3 can also be easily retrofitted or replaced. While a conventional door threshold requires extensive disassembly, a threshold 3 according to the invention – for example, if it is damaged – can be removed from the frame profile 4 and replaced with a new threshold 3.

[0032] According to the invention, very low threshold heights of approximately only 5 mm are possible.

[0033] The invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiment shown.

[0034] In particular, the invention is not limited to the profile geometry shown, but can be applied to all hollow chamber geometries made of all possible materials.

[0035] The door can be combined wholly or partially with aluminum profiles or frames. The profile can also be colored foil-wrapped, coated, or painted.

[0036] The invention also facilitates building waterproofing, in which the part of the frame positioned at ground level and the lowest lateral decimeters are separately sealed from the environment to prevent moisture ingress. Since the weld in the miter area remains unaffected, the building waterproofing can be carried out on a flat, impermeable substrate. legend
