The system (108) enables precise and automated control over antenna tilt parameters crucial for optimizing network coverage and capacity.
[0055] In one aspect, the system (108) comprises a processor (152), a high- performance microprocessor capable of executing complex algorithms and controlling logic essential for managing the antenna tilt adjustment. The processor (152) is configured to handle multiple work orders simultaneously, ensuring efficient task scheduling and execution without delays.
[0056] The system (108) further includes a memory (154), coupled to the processor (152), which serves as a storage solution for both the operating system and application- specific data. The memory (154) is robust and designed to store large datasets associated with the antenna tilt adjustment management, such as historical tilt values, performance metrics, and user settings. The memory (154) may include volatile types like RAM for quick access and non-volatile types like flash memory for persistent storage of configuration data.
[0057] A user interface (156) of the system (108) is configured to facilitate interaction between the system (108) and the user (102). The user interface (156) is communicatively coupled to the processor (152). The user interface (156) is implemented through a Graphical User Interface (GUI) on a dedicated terminal or via web-based portals accessible on standard web browsers. The users (102) may access the system (108) through the user interface (156) on the dedicated terminals. The GUI is designed to be intuitive, allowing users (102) to input an antenna tilt adjustment work order details, or configured parameters such as SAP ID, Cell ID, Cell NUM, Tilt, and scheduled time efficiently. The scheduled time here refers to time at which execution take place in the network (106). The user interface (156) may display real-time data and feedback on the antenna tilt adjustment processes to the operators or user (102).
[0058] The security module (158) is a secure administrative module within the system (108) that oversees the approval of all antenna tilt adjustment requests. The security module (158) functions under high-security protocols to authenticate and authorize work orders, ensuring that each approved work order adheres to predefined network policies and configurations. The security module (158) may use advanced security measures like two-factor authentication to ensure that only authorized personnel can approve changes.
[0059] Further, the communication unit (160) handles communication between the system (108) components and external devices, which may be referred to as an analysis module (162) or a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) module or collectively referred to as KPI modules (162). The communication unit (160) supports various communication standards and protocols, including, but not limited to, 3G, 4G, 5G NR, LTE, and Ethernet. The communication unit (160) ensures secure and reliable data transfer to and from the analysis module (162) and between the system (108) components, facilitating seamless data flow for ongoing operations.
[0060] The analysis module (162) is an analytical tool that processes both pre-change and post-change data to evaluate the success of each antenna tilt adjustment. The analysis module (162) utilizes algorithms to analyze network performance metrics and to produce actionable insights, determining whether the changes meet the expected outcomes (Pass, Fail, or Revert). Based on the analysis, it sends feedback to the processor (152) for further actions, such as adjustments or reverts in antenna tilt adjustment settings. The analysis module (162) processes both pre-change and post-change data related to the antenna tilt adjustment. This involves collecting performance metrics from the network before and after the antenna tilt adjustment settings are modified to assess the impact of these changes.
[0061] The analysis module (162) evaluates the network performance based on specific KPIs that may include signal strength, coverage area, data throughput, user experience, and other relevant network operation metrics. The objective is to determine whether the antenna tilt adjustment has achieved the desired improvement or if further optimization is necessary. Based on the analysis, the analysis module (162) categorizes the results of each antenna tilt adjustment into categories such as Pass, Fail, or Revert. This categorization helps in deciding whether to:
[0062] Pass: Keep the new antenna tilt adjustment settings as they have resulted in improved network performance.
[0063] Fail: Further adjustments are required as the expected improvements were not realized.
[0064] Revert: Return to previous antenna tilt adjustment settings if the new adjustments lead to worse network performance than before.
[0065] The analysis module (162) provides feedback to other components of the system (106), such as the processor (152) and the user interface (156), facilitating decisions on subsequent actions like the application of adjustments, reoptimization, or reversion of the antenna tilt adjustment settings.
[0066] In some configurations, the analysis module (162) might also be integrated with automated decision-making capabilities, allowing it to suggest or even initiate corrective actions without manual intervention based on predefined rules and thresholds.
[0067] The database (164) is configured for storing valuable data like approved antenna tilt adjustment values, which serve as reference points for future operations. The antenna tilt adjustment value may represent the specific angular measurement of the antenna tilt. This value can be positive or negative, indicating the direction of the tilt (upward or downward). By adjusting the antenna tilt adjustment value, network operators can direct the signal in a more targeted way to improve coverage and reception for the users (102) within the cell’s service area. The database (164) is configured for high throughput and redundancy to handle and secure the vast amounts of data generated and accessed by network operations. It supports rapid query capabilities to allow real-time access and manipulation of data during the antenna tilt adjustment management tasks.
[0068] Each component of the system (108) is configured to work in a synchronized manner to enhance the management of the antenna tilt adjustment. Such integrated approach helps optimize network performance across various cell sites and ensures compatibility with multiple vendors' equipment, thereby enhancing the adaptability and scalability of the network infrastructure.
[0069] FIG. 2 illustrates the antenna tilt adjustment WO auto closure workflow, in accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0070] The workflow is initiated at the Start, initiating the process following the successful execution of an antenna tilt adjustment work order. This step marks the completion of antenna tilt adjustment, capturing essential details, such asSystems Application and Products Identifier (SAP ID), OWNN, PRE Date, POST Date, and the status of the request or result, which are then communicated to a common antenna tilt adjustment POST KPI Module, at step 204. Particularly, a user (102) may create the antenna tilt adjustment change WO with details of SAP ID / CELL ID / CELL Number (NUM) / tilt and the scheduled time to implement the change. The WO may be approved by the security module (158). The scheduled time here refers to the time at which execution takes place in the network (106).
[0071] At step 202, the antenna tilt adjustment execution is performed. The system (108) assesses whether a pre and post KPI evaluation is feasible. If evaluation on the same day as the antenna tilt adjustment is not possible, the workflow diverges into multiple potential paths. If the KPI analysis indicates that no immediate optimization is required, the workflow progresses to the end without further actions. If discrepancies between expected and actual KPI results necessitate on-site optimization, a new work order for manual intervention is created.
[0072] Here, each successfully approved antenna tilt adjustment WO will be auto-executed and on the scheduled time. At step 204, each change evaluation and auto action are performed. Each successfully executed antenna tilt adjustment detail (e.g., SAPID / CELL ID / Change Date and Time) is sent to the PRE-POST KPI module and may revert with the result, including the status of Pass, Fail, and Revert. Based on result, a network management platform CM antenna tilt adjustment process workflow may take auto action.
[0073] Subsequently, at steps 206, 208, 210, the newly created or adjusted work order is submitted for approval and further processing and categorized as Pass, Fail, and Revert, respectively. This includes manual review and potential approval from designated authorities. In an embodiment, an auto action based on the PREPOST KPI result is disclosed:• PASS (step 206): The network management platform may store the tilt value in a Database (164) as an approved reference antenna tilt adjustment value. The scheduled time may be after three days of submission.• Fail (step 208) : The network management platform may allow the user ( 102) to raise a re-optimization WO to further improve the cell performance. The defined scheduled time may be after three days of submission or daily.• Revert (step 210): The network management platform may take auto action and revert the antenna tilt adjustment value to the current antenna tilt adjustment value, which was at the time of the antenna tilt adjustment WO creation. The defined scheduled time may be after three days of submission or daily.
[0074] At step 212, the work order may be manually adjusted or reworked based on the outcome of the KPI evaluations and subsequent analysis. Step 212 renders re-optimization for refining the antenna tilt adjustment settings to achieve optimal network performance. Passed WOs, including a Single Site Cluster Verification Test (SSCVT) or new integrations, may be reoptimized at step 212.
[0075] Subsequently, at step 214, the work order is submitted for approval and further processing. At step 222, the WO is submitted for auto-approval for the pass cases only. At step 226, the WO is submitted for auto-approval for the revert case only.
[0076] Upon approval of the adjustments, manual approval as per the currently defined flow step is implemented at step 216. At step 224, current tilt soon and approved antenna tilt adjustment and cell unlock is performed. At step 228, the original tilt is set to cell and cell unlock is performed. At these steps, the approved antenna tilt adjustment settings are applied, and the cellular site is unlocked, allowing normal operational activities to resume promptly.
[0077] At step 220, the process related to the antenna tilt adjustment change work order is formally closed, signifying the end of this particular adjustment cycle.
[0078] Based on the workflow described, below is a path for the User Interface (156) in the network management platform.• For the antenna tilt adjustment WO creation:Network management platform > Modules > Configuration-Management > Config-Change > antenna tilt adjustment -Change• For the antenna tilt adjustment WO creation:Network management platform > Work Orders > CM-Workorders > antenna tilt adjustment -Change• For a PRE-POST KPI result:Network management platform > Work Orders > CM-Workorders > antenna tilt adjustment -Change > Cell-Details
[0079] FIG. 3 illustrates an exemplary auto action in the UI (156) screen, in accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure.
[0080] The disclosed system (108) and method (200) are widely used by RF engineers across the country to track the antenna tilt adjustment and its PRE-POST result and auto auction, where the PRE-POST result is “Revert.” This enforces the user (102) to set an optimum tilt value to pass the pre-post result. This process may help the user (102) avoid manual pre-post validation and save time reverting the tilt value in case of performance degradation.
[0081] FIG. 4 depicts a flowchart illustrating an exemplary method (400) for managing the antenna tilt adjustment within a wireless network, as configured according to embodiments of the present disclosure.
[0082] At step 402, a work order (WO) creation request is received. This request includes essential details required for initiating the antenna tilt adjustment, such as SAP ID, Cell ID, Cell NUM, Tilt, and the scheduled time for the antenna tilt adjustment. The data is entered through a user interface (156) which facilitates interaction with the system (108) by network operators or RF engineers.
[0083] At step 404, the work order is approved. This approval is managed by a security module (158) or a similarly authorized unit within the network's management structure, ensuring that the antenna tilt adjustment adhere to predetermined operational guidelines and security protocols.
[0084] At step 406, the antenna tilt adjustment work order is executed automatically at the scheduled time. This automation ensures that the antenna tilt adjustment are made precisely when needed, without manual intervention, thus reducing the possibility of human error and enhancing the efficiency of network management.
[0085] At step 408, the system (108) processes pre and post antenna tilt adjustment data to determine the outcome of the antenna tilt adjustment. This data analysis is performed by an analysis module (162), which evaluates the effectiveness of the antenna tilt adjustment based on network performance metrics. The analysis module (162) assesses whether the adjustments have led to improved network performance (Pass), have had no beneficial effect (Fail), or if previous settings should be reinstated (Revert).
[0086] At step 410, an automatic action is performed wherein the antenna tilt adjustment is adjusted according to the determined outcome. This action ensures that only effective changes are maintained, while ineffective or detrimental adjustments are corrected or reverted, thereby maintaining optimal network performance and stability.
