Description

[0001] DESCRIPTION

[0002] TITLE: Cooking appliance provided with a cooking fume filtration device

[0003] Technical field

[0004] The present invention relates generally to a cooking appliance for cooking food products, and in particular to a hot air cooking appliance.

[0005] State of the art

[0006] Document US2022 / 0202239 discloses an electric cooking appliance for cooking food, in particular using a hot air cooking method. Such an electric cooking appliance comprises:

[0007] - a cooking container defining a cooking chamber,

[0008] - a fan configured to generate an airflow in the cooking chamber, and

[0009] - a heating device configured to heat the airflow generated by the fan.

[0010] When such an electric cooking appliance is used for cooking meat or fish, dense and odorous cooking fumes escape through an exhaust opening fluidly connected to the cooking chamber, which proves unpleasant, or even toxic, for a user and therefore requires ventilation of the room where the cooking appliance is located.

[0011] In order to overcome such a drawback, it could be envisaged to equip the electric cooking appliance with a filtration device configured to filter the cooking fumes generated in the cooking chamber before they are discharged outside the electric cooking appliance.

[0012] However, the presence of such a filtration device prevents direct evacuation of water vapor emanating from the food cooked in the cooking chamber, for example when cooking fries, and is therefore likely to induce saturation of water vapor in the cooking chamber, which slows down the cooking of the food or even prevents it from cooking correctly.

[0013] Summary of the invention The technical problem underlying the invention therefore consists of providing a cooking appliance for cooking food, for example using a hot air cooking method, which ensures optimal cooking of food likely to release a significant amount of water vapor during cooking, while making it possible to filter cooking fumes generated during cooking of food generating a lot of cooking fumes, such as meat or fish.

[0014] To this end, the present invention relates to a cooking appliance, such as a hot air cooking appliance, configured for cooking food, the cooking appliance comprising:

[0015] - a cooking chamber,

[0016] - an air exhaust circuit fluidly connected to the cooking chamber, the air exhaust circuit comprising an exhaust opening through which cooking fumes, generated in the cooking chamber, are discharged outside the cooking appliance,

[0017] - a filtration device configured to filter cooking fumes flowing into the air exhaust circuit,

[0018] - a user interface configured to allow a user to select at least one operating parameter of the cooking appliance, and for example at least one operating mode of the cooking appliance, and

[0019] - a control unit configured to control the operation of the cooking appliance, the filtration device being configured to obstruct a passage section of the air exhaust circuit when the cooking appliance is in the first operating mode.

[0020] The cooking appliance comprises a first operating mode in which the filtration device is configured to filter cooking fumes flowing in the air exhaust circuit and a second operating mode in which the cooking fumes, flowing in the air exhaust circuit, are able to flow freely, i.e. directly (and therefore without being filtered), towards the outside of the cooking appliance, and the control unit is configured to control the operation of the cooking appliance according to the first operating mode or according to the second operating mode depending on an operating parameter selected by a user via the user interface.

[0021] Such a configuration of the cooking appliance makes it possible: - when a user wishes to cook food that generates a lot of cooking fumes and odors (such as meat or fish), to control operation of the cooking appliance according to the first operating mode so as to ensure filtration of the cooking fumes, generated in the cooking chamber, by the filtration device, in order to trap the odors and / or harmful or toxic particles carried by the cooking fumes, and

[0022] - when a user wishes to cook a food that generates little smoke and odor (such as fries cooked with a very small quantity of oil) or which requires regular evacuation of the water vapor generated in the cooking chamber (in order to avoid saturation with water vapor in the cooking chamber which could harm the cooking of the food received in the cooking chamber), to control operation of the cooking appliance according to the second operating mode so as to ensure free evacuation of the cooking fumes or water vapor generated in the cooking chamber, in order to ensure optimal cooking of said food.

[0023] Thus, the cooking appliance according to the present invention ensures optimal cooking of a wide variety of foods, while avoiding pollution of the environment of the cooking appliance.

[0024] Furthermore, such a configuration of the cooking appliance makes it possible to filter cooking fumes only when such filtration is required, which makes it possible to extend the service life of the filtration device and therefore to space out the replacement phases of such a filtration device.

[0025] The cooking appliance may further have one or more of the following features, which may be taken alone or in combination.

[0026] According to one embodiment of the invention, the filtration device comprises a filtration element and a support member configured to support the filtration element.

[0027] According to one embodiment of the invention, the filtration element is an activated carbon filter.

[0028] According to one embodiment of the invention, the filtration device is configured to be arranged at least partly in the air exhaust circuit when the cooking appliance is in the first operating mode.

[0062] Detailed description

[0063] In this document, the term "cooking smoke" means any type of smoke generated during the cooking of food in the cooking chamber. Cooking smoke can have very varied compositions depending in particular on the type of food cooked, but also on the cooking temperatures. Cooking smoke can, for example, be highly charged with water vapor, be highly charged with oil droplets, or even contain water vapor, oil droplets and other harmful or odorous particles, such as carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon-derived gases. In this document, the terms "lower" and "upper" used to describe the cooking appliance refer to the cooking appliance in use, i.e. resting on a horizontal surface.

[0064] Figures 1 and 2 show a cooking appliance 1 according to a first embodiment of the invention. The cooking appliance 1 is configured for cooking food, such as meat, fish, vegetables or other food products, in particular according to a hot air cooking mode. The cooking appliance 1 may for example be a hot air fryer.

[0065] According to the first embodiment of the invention, the cooking appliance 1 comprises a housing 2 comprising in particular a lower compartment 2.1 and an upper compartment 2.2, and a cooking container 3 delimiting a cooking chamber 4 and configured to be received in a removable manner in the lower compartment 2.1. However, according to an alternative embodiment of the invention, the cooking container 3 could be mounted movably relative to the housing 2 between a cooking position in which food contained in the cooking container 3 is capable of being cooked by the cooking appliance 1, and a loading position in which food is capable of being introduced into or removed from the cooking container 3. The cooking container 3 may for example comprise a gripping handle 5 configured to be grasped by a user, so as to allow easy handling of the cooking container 3 by a user.

[0066] The cooking appliance 1 further comprises a fan 6 configured to generate an air flow in the cooking chamber 4, and a heating device 7 associated with the fan 6 and configured to heat the air flow generated by the fan 6. Advantageously, the heating device 7 comprises a resistive heating element, and is configured to be located opposite the cooking chamber 4, and more particularly opposite an access opening 8 delimited by an upper peripheral edge of the cooking container 3 and through which food can be introduced into the cooking chamber 4. However, according to an alternative embodiment of the invention, the heating device 7 could be arranged in an upper part of the cooking chamber 4.

[0067] The cooking appliance 1 further comprises a drive unit 9 which is provided with a drive motor 11 and which is configured to rotate the fan 6 about an axis of rotation. Advantageously, the axis of rotation is substantially vertical when the cooking appliance 1 rests on a horizontal surface. The fan 6 may for example be directly coupled in rotation to an output shaft of the drive motor 11, or be coupled to the latter via a motion transmission mechanism configured to transmit a rotational movement from the drive motor 11 to the fan 6. According to the first embodiment of the invention, the drive unit 9 and the fan 6 are arranged above the heating device 7, and are not accessible to a user. The drive unit 9 and possibly the fan 6 may for example be arranged in the upper compartment 2.2.

[0068] The cooking appliance 1 also comprises an air exhaust circuit 12 fluidly connected to the cooking chamber 4. The air exhaust circuit 12 comprises an exhaust opening 13 through which cooking fumes, generated in the cooking chamber 4, are discharged to the outside of the cooking appliance 1. The exhaust opening 13 is provided on an external surface of the housing 2. Advantageously, the exhaust opening 13 opens into a rear portion of the housing 2, so that the cooking fumes are discharged away from a user located in front of the cooking appliance 1. However, according to an alternative embodiment of the invention, the exhaust opening 13 could open into an upper or lateral face of the housing 2. The air exhaust circuit 12 further comprises an exhaust duct 14 opening into the cooking chamber 4 and fluidly connecting the exhaust opening 13 to the cooking chamber 4.

[0069] The cooking appliance 1 further comprises a user interface 15 configured to allow a user to select at least one operating parameter of the cooking appliance 1, such as at least one operating mode or cooking mode of the cooking appliance 1, and a control unit 16 which comprises for example a controller, such as a microcontroller, or a processor, such as a microprocessor, and which is configured to control the operation of the cooking appliance 1, and in particular the heating device 7, the drive motor 11 and the fan 6, according to an operating parameter selected by a user via the user interface 15. The user interface 15 may for example be provided on an upper face or a front face of the housing 2.

[0070] The control unit 16 is in particular configured to control the operation of the cooking appliance 1 according to a hot air cooking mode. The user can then control a hot air cooking mode using the user interface 15 provided on the housing 2, and the control unit 16 then controls an activation of the drive motor 11 so as to rotate the fan 6 and generate an air flow within the cooking chamber 4 and also an electrical supply of the heating device 7 so as to heat this air flow.

[0071] The cooking appliance 1 according to the present invention also makes it possible to brown the food contained in the cooking chamber 4. For example, by selecting a brown cooking mode, the control unit 16 can command, at the end of the hot air cooking cycle, a stopping of the drive motor 11 while maintaining an electrical supply to the heating device 7, which ensures, due to the position of the latter opposite the cooking chamber 4, brown cooking of the food.

[0072] The cooking appliance 1 further comprises a filtration device 18 configured to filter cooking fumes flowing in the air exhaust circuit 12. The filtration device 18 is more particularly configured to trap odors carried by the cooking fumes flowing in the air exhaust circuit 12, and / or to at least partially purify the cooking fumes flowing in the air exhaust circuit 12. The filtration device 18 may for example comprise a filtration element, such as an activated carbon filter, and a support member configured to support the filtration element.

[0073] The cooking appliance 1 more particularly comprises a first operating mode in which the filtration device 18 is configured to filter cooking fumes flowing in the air exhaust circuit 12, and a second operating mode in which the cooking fumes, flowing in the air exhaust circuit 12, are able to flow freely, that is to say directly (and therefore without being filtered), towards the outside of the cooking appliance 1, and the control unit 16 is configured to control the operation of the cooking appliance 1 according to the first operating mode or according to the second operating mode as a function of an operating parameter selected by a user via the user interface 15.Of course, the hot air cooking mode can be used to cook food contained in the cooking chamber 4 both when the cooking appliance 1 is in the first operating mode and when the cooking appliance 1 is in the second operating mode.

[0074] According to the first embodiment of the invention, the filtration device 18, and more particularly the support member, is mounted to move relative to the housing 2 between a filtration position (see FIG. 1) in which the filtration device 18 is configured to obstruct a passage section of the air exhaust circuit 12, and for example a passage section of the exhaust opening 13, and to filter cooking fumes flowing in the air exhaust circuit 12, and a release position (see FIG. 2) in which the filtration device 18 is configured to release said passage section and to allow free flow of cooking fumes to the outside of the cooking appliance 1.The filtration device 18 is configured to occupy the filtration position when the cooking appliance 1 is in the first operating mode, and to occupy the release position when the cooking appliance 1 is in the second operating mode.

[0075] The filtration device 18 may for example be mounted pivotally relative to the housing 2 around a pivot axis configured to extend for example substantially horizontally or substantially vertically when the cooking appliance 1 rests on a horizontal surface. However, according to an alternative embodiment of the invention, the filtration device 18 could be mounted mobile in translation, and for example mounted sliding, relative to the housing 2 of the cooking appliance 1 in a direction of movement which may for example be horizontal or vertical when the cooking appliance 1 rests on a horizontal surface.

[0076] According to the first embodiment of the invention, the cooking appliance 1 comprises a movement mechanism 22 configured to move the filtration device 18 between the filtration position and the release position. The movement mechanism 22 may for example comprise an actuator, such as a jack, mechanically connected on the one hand to the filtration device 18 and on the other hand to the housing 2, and configured to move the filtration device 18 between the filtration position and the release position. Advantageously, the control unit 16 is configured to control the operation of the movement mechanism 22 according to the operating mode selected by the user from among the first and second operating modes, so as to automatically move the filtration device 18 between the filtration position and the release position.

[0077] Such a configuration of the cooking appliance allows:

[0078] - when a user wishes to cook a food that generates a lot of cooking fumes and odors (such as meat or fish), to control operation of the cooking appliance 1 according to the first operating mode so as to ensure filtration of the cooking fumes, generated in the cooking chamber, by the filtration device 18 occupying the filtration position, in order to trap the odors and / or harmful or toxic particles carried by the cooking fumes, and

[0079] - when a user wishes to cook a food that generates little smoke and odors or that requires regular evacuation of the water vapor generated in the cooking chamber (in order to avoid saturation with water vapor in the cooking chamber which could harm the cooking of the food received in the cooking chamber), to control an operation of the cooking appliance 1 according to the second operating mode so as to ensure free evacuation of the cooking fumes or water vapor, generated in the cooking chamber (since the filtration device 18 then occupies the release position), and this in order to ensure optimal cooking of said food.

[0080] Figures 3 and 4 show a cooking appliance 1 according to a second embodiment of the invention which differs from the first embodiment essentially in that the filtration device 18 is fixed (and is for example fixed to the housing 2), and in that the air exhaust circuit 12 comprises an additional exhaust opening 19 fluidly connected to the cooking chamber 4 and a closing member 21, such as a closing hatch or a closing valve, mounted movably, and for example pivotally or slidably mounted, relative to the housing 2 between a closed position (see Figure 4) in which the closing member 21 closes the additional exhaust opening 19 so as to force an evacuation of the cooking fumes out of the cooking appliance 1 through the filtration device 18 and the exhaust opening 13,and an open position (see Figure 3) in which the closing member 21 releases the additional discharge opening 19 and allows the cooking fumes to be discharged from the cooking appliance 1 through the additional discharge opening 19.,

[0081] The air exhaust circuit 12 further comprises a drive mechanism 23 configured to automatically move the closing member 21 between the closed position and the open position. Advantageously, the control unit 16 is configured to control the operation of the drive mechanism 23 according to the operating mode selected by the user from among the first and second operating modes, so as to automatically move the closing member 21 between the closed position and the open position.

[0082] According to an embodiment of the invention not shown in the figures, the cooking appliance 1 could be of the oven type. According to such an embodiment of the invention, the cooking appliance 1 comprises a door movable between a first door position in which the door closes the access opening 8 opening into the cooking chamber 4 and prevents access to the cooking chamber 4, and a second door position in which the door releases the access opening 8 and allows access to the cooking chamber 4.

[0083] According to another embodiment of the invention not shown in the figures, the cooking appliance 1 could comprise a cooking tank, as a cooking container 3, provided with an access opening 8 delimited by an upper peripheral edge of the cooking tank, and a cover which can be moved, and for example pivotally mounted, between a first cover position in which the cover closes the access opening 8 and prevents access to the cooking chamber 4, and a second cover position in which the cover releases the access opening 8 and allows access to the cooking chamber 4. According to such an embodiment of the invention, the heating device 7 can for example be fixed to the cover so as to be located opposite the cooking chamber 4 when the cover occupies the first cover position, and the drive unit 9 can for example be arranged in an internal housing delimited by the cover.

[0084] Furthermore, this invention finds an industrial application in cooking appliances of the hot air cooking type, or of the grill type including a hot air cooking mode or of the electric pressure cooker type including a hot air cooking mode. Of course, the present invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and illustrated which have been given only as examples. Modifications remain possible, in particular from the point of view of the constitution of the various elements or by substitution of technical equivalents, without departing from the scope of protection of the invention.
