Abstract
Description
Packaging of compressible flexible articles, industrial packaging process using it and articles thus packaged
[0001] The technical field of the invention is that of industrial packaging, in particular, of compressible flexible articles, such as disposable hygienic diapers, in bags made from environmentally friendly materials, for example paper bags, e.g. kraft paper or cardboard.
[0002] The present invention relates to bags for packaging these compressible flexible articles, both empty bags and bags full of flexible and compressible articles, arranged in one or more superimposed rows.
[0003] The invention also relates to bundles of these packaging bags.
[0004] The invention further relates to a method for industrial packaging of flexible compressible articles in these packaging bags. Technological background of the invention
[0005] In addition to the fact that paper, kraft paper and cardboard are biodegradable, compostable and recyclable materials, and therefore eco-compatible, compressing flexible items in their packaging, in order to reduce the quantity of packaging materials, is also a positive factor for sustainable development.
[0006] However, the containment of compacted flexible articles in paper or similar packaging imposes constraints in terms of mechanical resistance, particularly for packaging at an industrial rate, for example at least 600 layers per minute, as well as for storage and transport.
[0007] It is also important that such paper packaging is designed for rapid and easy industrial packaging, in terms of filling, closing and stability of the latter, as well as the compact shape of the packaging containing the compressed flexible articles. This shape retention allows the packaged flexible articles and the packaging to form a compact and solid unit, with a preserved appearance without creases, tears or perforations.
[0008] These paper packagings must resist, on the one hand, tearing under the effect of the expansion forces of the compressed flexible articles they contain, and, on the other hand, the external stresses to which the packaging is likely to be exposed, such as water, humidity, heat, light and shocks during handling.... To achieve this, the layer or layers of paper that constitute the envelope of this type of packaging, for example a bag, are traditionally chosen in a total grammage of between 60 and 125 grams per square meter. Beyond the composition of the envelope material, the structure of the bag must contribute to the mechanical resistance of the bag (traction, rigidity, toughness, tearing).
[0009] Ease of opening the packaging is also a specification expected by consumers. In particular, it is desirable that this opening allows easy extraction of a packaged flexible article, without tearing / damaging the packaging, so that the remaining articles remain safe. However, there is a technical difficulty in this regard linked to cellulosic materials such as paper or similar, which have a propensity to tear depending on the orientation of the cellulosic fibers, in a random and unpredictable manner. Providing perforated lines of lesser resistance to guide the opening of the packaging by tearing is difficult to manage. Indeed, these lines of lesser resistance also have the disadvantage of weakening the packaging, with the risk of premature rupture of the packaging during storage, transport and the various handling operations undergone from industrial packaging to the consumer.
[0010] Naturally, another characteristic sought for paper or similar packaging is to be recyclable and biodegradable, particularly industrially and home compostable, and to have good printing qualities on its outer surface, to make this packaging attractive to the consumer.
[0011] It would also be appropriate if the paper or similar material of this packaging could be obtained from recycled materials and could also be easily recycled after use.
[0012] Packaging weight and cost are also essential factors to consider.
[0013] There is therefore a need for compressible flexible packaging bags for articles, meeting the specifications developed above. The desired bags are made of a flexible material such as paper or a similar material. Cardboard, due to its rigidity, is preferably not one of the paper analogues preferably considered. Objectives of the invention
[0014] In this context, the invention aims to satisfy at least one of the following objectives.
[0015] An objective of the invention is to provide a flexible, eco-compatible packaging bag, intended in particular for the industrial packaging of compressible flexible articles, preferably gathered in at least one row, and capable of evolving between a flattened state and an inflated / expanded state suitable for the industrial packaging of these articles.
[0016] An objective of the invention is to provide a flexible, strong packaging bag suitable for the industrial-scale packaging of flexible and compressible articles, for example at a rate of at least 600 per minute.
[0017] An objective of the invention is to provide a flexible, tear-resistant packaging bag for handling, transport and storage.
[0018] An objective of the invention is to provide a flexible packaging bag for packaging compressed flexible articles, and resistant to bursting under the expansion pressure of the compressed articles.
[0019] An objective of the invention is to provide a flexible packaging bag, particularly for packaging compressed flexible articles, which is resistant to heat, light, humidity, water and shocks.
[0020] An objective of the invention is to provide a flexible packaging bag, particularly for packaging compressed flexible articles, which is easy to open and which offers easy access to the packaged articles after opening.
[0021] An objective of the invention is to provide a flexible packaging bag, particularly for packaging compressed flexible items, which is made from a printable, recycled and recyclable material.
[0022] An objective of the invention is to provide a flexible packaging bag, particularly for packaging compressed flexible articles, which is light and economical.
[0023] An objective of the invention is to provide a set of flexible packaging bags, as referred to in the above objectives, this set being intended to allow the supply of an industrial packaging line with these bags.
[0024] An objective of the invention is to provide a rapid, efficient and economical method for industrial packaging in flexible packaging bags, as referred to in the above objectives, of flexible articles, in particular compressible articles, preferably gathered in at least one row, these articles advantageously being hygienic diapers. Brief description of the invention
[0025] The invention satisfies at least one of the above objectives and relates to a packaging bag * intended in particular for the industrial packaging of compressible flexible articles, preferably gathered in at least one row (for example two or three rows); * capable of evolving between a flattened state and a deployed state suitable for the industrial packaging of these articles; * consisting of a sheath - formed from a single piece, preferably of generally rectangular shape, the opposite longitudinal edges of which are secured to each other; - open at one of its ends ("open end"); - closed at its opposite end, by a folded bottom; - the open end being connected to the bottom by two facial walls delimited by two longitudinal folds and two terminal edges which define this open end; - one of these facial walls comprising the opposite longitudinal edges of the sheath, secured to each other.
[0026] This facial and longitudinal welding of the sheath and the folded bottom of the bag are features, among others, which contribute to the functional and structural quality of the bag.
[0027] This bag is ecological, economical, robust and perfectly compatible with high productivity industrial requirements.
[0028] Advantageously, near at least one of the terminal edges of the facial walls of this bag, there is provided at least one element intended to cooperate with at least one member for assembling several bags together to form a bundle, this element being, of preferably, an eyelet and the bag assembly member in bundles being, preferably, a spool. This arrangement contributes to making the bag according to the invention a packaging specially designed for packaging compressed flexible articles, in one or more rows, at industrial rates of several hundred bags per minute.
[0029] Preferably: * the folded bottom is included in an end strip extending in the extension of the two face walls and separated from the latter by a transverse fold; * this end strip comprises two facial panels which are extensions of the two facial walls of the sheath and which are delimited by this transverse fold and by two longitudinal folds which are extensions of the two longitudinal folds of the two facial walls and which are folded towards the axis or the median longitudinal plane PLM of the sheath, so as to be substantially parallel and aligned with the transverse fold; * each folded longitudinal fold corresponds, in the base in the unfolded and flat state, to the mediator of an isosceles triangle whose sides of the same length are folds, so that the base comprises, in the unfolded and flat state, two isosceles triangles whose bases are opposite each other and whose main vertices are each at the intersection of the transverse fold and one of the longitudinal folds of the two facial walls and one of the longitudinal folds of the end strip; * In the unfolded and flat state of the base, with the longitudinal folds folded towards the axis of the sheath, the areas of the base comprising the opposite vertices of the base of the 2 isosceles triangles are folded towards the transverse fold according to a fold parallel to this transverse fold, so as to form two external flaps fixed to the front panel of the base, by means of at least part of their internal face.
[0030] The folding and assembly of the bottom of the bag are the result of a unique and clever approach, which combines with the facial and longitudinal welding of the sheath. The resistance of the bag to the stresses resulting from the expansion of the compressed items contained in this bag is thus significantly reinforced.
[0031] According to a remarkable characteristic of the invention, the bottom is symmetrical with respect to the median longitudinal plane and / or with respect to its transverse fold.
[0032] According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the joining of certain parts of the bag together is carried out by gluing and / or heat sealing.
[0033] Advantageously, the bag according to the invention is at least partly composed of a material having at least one of the following properties: biodegradable, recyclable, home compostable, bio-sourced, non-allergenic, this material preferably being made entirely or partly of paper, for example kraft paper.
[0034] To facilitate the introduction of compressed flexible articles into the deployed bag, it is provided, according to a successful embodiment of the invention, that at least part of the internal surface of its facial walls is slippery, that is to say that it has a dynamic friction coefficient relative to these compressed flexible articles, between 0.01 and 0.25, preferably between 0.05 and 0.25.
[0035] This property can be achieved by applying a suitable coating and / or by physical and / or chemical surface treatment of the internal surface of the facial walls.
[0036] After introduction of the compressed flexible articles, inside the deployed bag, on the industrial packaging line, the closing of the bag is made possible by the fact that the latter is designed to be able to be closed by securing (for example by gluing or heat sealing) the terminal edges of the face walls, over at least part of their length, preferably by providing a gusset at each end of this part of the length over which the terminal edges are secured to each other, this gusset advantageously consisting of a fold of the end part of each edge on itself internal face against internal face and by fixing them so as to fix the fold which forms a gusset.
[0037] The invention also relates to the bag in which compressed flexible articles, preferably hygienic diapers, are packaged, preferably in at least one row, for example in one, two or three superimposed rows, each comprising from 10 to 30 compressed flexible articles, such as hygienic diapers.
[0038] This closed bag containing the compressed articles, having undergone the industrial packaging operation, is free from any element intended to cooperate with at least one assembly member (eg two) of several bags together to form a bundle. This packaging operation in fact comprises a step of removing the upper part of the bag, opposite the bottom, comprising one or more assembly members.
[0039] According to another of its objects, the invention relates to a bundle of bags according to the invention, in the flattened state, before their deployment for the packaging of compressed flexible articles. In this bundle, these bags are joined together using at least one, preferably two, assembly member(s), advantageously a reel, cooperating with eyelets provided in at least one of the terminal edges of the facial walls of the bag.
[0040] The invention also relates to a method for industrial packaging of flexible articles, in particular compressible articles, preferably gathered in at least one row, these articles advantageously being hygienic diapers, • in which bags according to the invention are used, preferably assembled into at least one bundle, • -and in which • the bags are used one by one, if necessary, extracted one by one from the bundle(s) of bags, • the bags are inflated one by one, • compressible soft items are seized, preferably in at least one row, • then are introduced into the inflated bags, • the terminal edges of the facial walls are then joined to each other, preferably by heat sealing; • and, possibly, the upper fringe of the terminal borders of the facial walls is cut. [0052] Figures 1 to 3 attached represent an exemplary embodiment of the packaging bag 1 according to the invention, closed and containing two superimposed rows 2 each comprising twenty-two compressed hygienic layers 3. Figures 4 to 9 show the bag according to the invention, flattened, open at its upper end.
[0053] In this disclosure, the terms "top"; "bottom"; "upper"; "lower" refer to the bottom of the bag located at the bottom or lower part of the bag.
[0054] Bag (1)
[0055] The bag 1 consists of a sheath 4 made of cellulosic material, recyclable, biodegradable, in particular compostable at home and industrially. It is preferably kraft paper with a weight of, for example, 75 g / m 2 Beyond this example, the kraft paper constituting the bag according to the invention could be between 60 and 120 g / m 2In this example, the inner face of the kraft paper is coated with a biodegradable, heat-sealable latex-based coating, which gives it slipperiness, to facilitate the introduction of the 2 rows of 3 compressed layers. The dynamic coefficient of friction compared to compressed flexible articles is, for example, 0.08.
[0056] These latexes are advantageously chosen from dispersions or emulsions of synthetic resins in water, the latter preferably being acrylic, vinyl, or styrenebutabiene resins.
[0057] This sheath 4 is obtained from an initial rectangular sheet of kraft paper, in a single piece. In this embodiment, the dimensions of this sheet are 600 mm x 832 mm. The two edges 5, 6 which correspond to the two opposite end regions according to the widths of this initial rectangular sheet, are secured to each other by heat sealing or gluing, preferably heat bonded, for example, using a latex adhesive coating, applied to the internal face of the kraft paper, by a suitable tool of the packaging line. The heat bonding temperature is for example 180 °C + / - 10 °C. These longitudinal edges 5, 6 form a joint 56.
[0058] The sheath 4, precursor of the bag 1, is closed at its lower end by a folded bottom 7, and its upper end forms an open end 8, as appears in figures 4 & 5.
[0059] In the flattened state shown in Figures 4 to 7, the bag 1 resulting from the folding of the sheath 4 along two fold lines 9, 10 parallel to the longitudinal edges 5, 6, has two face walls 11, 12, the two upper terminal edges 13, 14 of which delimit the open end 8.
[0060] The joint 56 is arranged on the face wall 11.
[0061] Two perforations constituting eyelets 15, 16 are provided near the terminal edges 13, 14 of the sheath 4, on either side of the joint 56. These eyelets 15, 16 are elements each intended to cooperate with an assembly member which may, for example, be a spool 25: see figure 10. It is thus possible to bring together in a bundle 24 (figure 10), a plurality of bags 1 in the flattened state. The supply of the packaging line with compressible flexible articles, in this case the diapers 3, in the bags according to the invention, can be ensured efficiently, by means of these bundles 24 of flattened bags 1.
[0062] As shown in Figures 8 & 9, the folded bottom 7 is produced from a lower end strip 17 of the sheath 4 extending the two facial walls 11, 12, separated from the latter by a transverse fold 18 and delimited on the sides by longitudinal folds 13e, 14e which are extensions of the longitudinal folds 13, 14 of the two facial walls 11, 12. The extensions of these two facial walls 11, 12 which form the lower end strip 17, constitute the facial panels 11e, 12e thereof.
[0063] In Figure 6 which represents the bottom 7 folded, glued and flattened, while Figure 7 shows the bottom 7 before the folding and the final gluing of the last flaps designated by the references 20, 21, it appears that the folding makes it possible to bring each longitudinal fold 13e, 14e of the end strip 17, towards the axis or the median longitudinal plane PLM of the sheath 4, in a position where each of them 13e, 14e is, on the one hand, perpendicular to the longitudinal fold 13, 14, respectively, of which it is the extension, and, on the other hand, parallel and aligned with the transverse fold 18. Furthermore, each longitudinal fold 13th, 14th of the end strip 17 corresponds, in the bottom 7 to the unfolded and flat state (figure 7), at the mediator of an isosceles triangle 19,20, the sides of which are of equal length folds 191,192,201,202, formed when the longitudinal folds 13e, 14e are folded towards the center of the sheath 4. The base 7 thus comprises, in the unfolded and flat state of figure 7, two isosceles triangles 19,20, the bases 193,203 of which are opposite each other and the main vertices 194,204 of which are each at the intersection, on the one hand, of the transverse fold 18 or of one of the longitudinal folds 13e,14e of the end strip 17, and, on the other hand, of one of the longitudinal folds 13,14 of the two facial walls 11,12. In the folded, glued and flat bottom 7 shown in Figure 6, where the longitudinal folds 13e, 14e are brought / folded towards the axis or the median longitudinal plane PLM of the sheath 4, the zones 21, 22 (or final flaps) of the bottom 7 comprising the opposite vertices 195, 196, 205, 206 of the base 193, 203 of the 2 isosceles triangles 19, 20, are folded towards the transverse fold 18 and the longitudinal folds 14e, 13e, according to a fold 207 parallel to this transverse fold 18 and to these longitudinal folds 14e, 13e, so as to form two external final flaps fixed, by means of at least a part of their internal face, to the corresponding facial panel 11e, 12e of the bottom 7.
[0064] The areas (end flaps) 21, 22 of the bottom 7 folded down are, at least in part, secured to their respective corresponding face panel 11e, 12e, for example by heat sealing or gluing, preferably heat bonded, for example, using a latex adhesive coating, applied to the inner face of the kraft paper, by a suitable tool of the packaging line. The heat bonding temperature is for example 180 °C + / - 10 °C
[0065] Zone 21 of bottom 7 is partially folded over the 12th face and partially over the upper face of zone 22.
[0066] The bottom 7 that it is: * folded, glued and flat shown in figure 6 with the longitudinal folds 13th, 14th brought towards the axis or the median longitudinal plane PLM of the sheath 4 and the zones (final flaps) 21, 22 of the bottom 7 folded over the face panels 11th, 12th; * unfolded and flat shown in figure 7 with the longitudinal folds 13th, 14th brought towards the axis or the median longitudinal plane PLM of the sheath 4 and the zones (final flaps) 21, 22 of the bottom 7 not folded down on the face panels 11th, 12th; * or unfolded and flat shown in figure 8 or 9 with the longitudinal folds 13e, 14e not brought towards the axis or the median longitudinal plane PLM of the sheath 4 and the zones 21, 22 (final flaps) of the bottom 7 not folded down on the face panels 11e, 12e; is symmetrical with respect to the median longitudinal plane PLM and with respect to its transverse fold 18.
[0067] Bundle (24)
[0068] Figure 10 shows a bundle 24 of bags 1 in the flattened state, gathered by bobbins 25 introduced into the eyelets 15, 16 of the stacked bags 1. These bobbins 25 each comprise an axial tube 251, one end of which comprises a flange 252 and the other end, two radial elastic tabs 253, which are foldable to allow the passage of the axial tube 251 to the through eyelets 15, 16 of the bags 1 and which, once returned to rest, retain the bags 1 superimposed on the axial tube 251.
[0069] The packaging line is equipped with tools which allow the bags from the bundle 24 to be picked up one by one. To facilitate this operation, a pre-cutting line 26 is provided between the eyelets 15, 16 and the two upper end edges 13, 14.
[0070] As soon as the bags 1 are introduced onto the packaging line, in two superimposed rows 2 of 22 hygienic, disposable and compressed layers 3, the lips 27, 28, over the greater part of their length, are brought into contact with each other by their internal faces and then heat-sealed / glued, preferably heat-glued, for example, using a latex adhesive coating, applied to the internal face of the kraft paper, by a suitable tool of the packaging line. The heat-gluing temperature is for example 180 °C + / - 10 °C.
[0071] As shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, the lips 27, 28, which emanate from the edges 13, 14 of the flattened bag, which comes, for example, from the bundle 24, are folded and glued each on itself, in their end parts, to form a gusset 29, 30 at each end. These each comprise a fold 271, 281. This gusset 29, 30 facilitates the opening of the bag 1.
[0072] The lips 27, 28 and these bellows 29, 30 for closing the bag 1 undergo a trimming operation on the packaging line to complete. This is how they are shown in Figures 1, 2 and 3, freed from any eyelet or any element intended to cooperate with assembly members such as the bobbins 25 to form bundles 24 of flattened bags 1.
[0073] Process
[0074] The invention also relates to a method for industrial packaging of flexible articles, in particular compressible articles, preferably gathered in at least one row 2, these articles advantageously being hygienic diapers 3.
[0075] The bags 1 use on an industrial packaging line are advantageously in the form of bundles 24, comprising sixty bags 1.
[0076] This continuous industrial packaging line is, for example, of the type designed, manufactured and marketed by the company VIRE.
[0077] The bags 1 are extracted one by one from the bundle(s) 24 of bags 1, by a tool of the industrial packaging line, designed for this purpose and are conveyed on this line by a conveyor means.
[0078] Another tool in this line allows the bags 1 to be inflated one by one. Using a gripping tool, the compressible soft items, e.g. diapers 3, are gripped, in rows 2, then introduced into an inflated bag 1. The end edges 13, 14 / lips 27, 28 of the face walls 11, 12 are secured to each other, preferably heat-sealed, for example, using a latex adhesive coating, applied to the inner face of the kraft paper, by a suitable tool of the packaging line. The heat-sealing temperature is for example 180 °C + / - 10 °C. A cutting tool then proceeds to trim the terminal edges 13,14 / lips 27,28 of the facial walls 11,12.
[0079] Bags 1 containing layers 3, closed and trimmed, are then collected to be packed into large volume containers. Figure reference
