TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present invention relates to a profile device for forming part of a frame member. In particular, the present invention relates to a profile device for a frame member, the frame member being suitable for forming part of a frame assembly for a glazing system. The present invention further relates to a frame member comprising the profile device, a frame assembly comprising one or more of the frame members, and a glazing system comprising the frame assembly, the glazing system being useable in a window system, door system or façade element.BACKGROUND
[0002] In the construction of windows, it is desirable to maximise thermal performance and mitigate heat loss through the window. For example, the use of double-glazed units and triple glazed units in glazing systems contributes to the reduction of heat loss through the glass of the window. These glazing systems may be suitably implemented, for example, in skylight window systems, where the glazing system is placed on and fixed to a support member, such as an upstand.
[0003] However, one potential source of heat loss from the warm internal surface of a building to outer surface of the building is via the frame assembly of the glazing system. In glazing systems where the frame assembly is made from a metallic material, such as aluminium or steel for example, whilst these materials provide substantial reductions in both weight and strength, they are effective heat conductors and accordingly, heat may therefore escape via the frame assemblies thus counteracting the insulation properties provided by the glazing unit used within the glazing system.
[0004] In order to mitigate heat loss through these types of frame assemblies, a thermal barrier, also known as a thermal break, is typically implemented in the glazing system used. The thermal break is manufactured using a material that has a low thermal conductivity, relative to the metal used for the frame assembly. The thermal break forms part of the glazing system and is used to interrupt thermal transfer via the frame assembly of the glazing system used.
[0005] However, one issue with current glazing systems is that, depending on the thickness of glazing unit required, the remaining parts of the glazing system must be manufactured to specifically accommodate that thickness of glazing unit. For example, should it be desirable to use a triple-glazed unit in a glazing system, it is necessary to manufacture at least a custom frame assembly specific to that thickness of glazing unit, and typically, a thermal break specific to accommodate that thickness of glazing unit. If another thickness of glazing unit is to be implemented, at least a separate frame assembly and typically a thermal break must be manufactured that is specific to and only useable for that thickness of glazing unit. Accordingly, the requirement to manufacture and stock many different components increases the costs associated with the manufacture of these glazing systems as well as the complexity of stocking systems. Additionally, should a user of the window system wish to upgrade from a first glazing unit to a second glazing unit with an improved thermal performance, such as from a double-glazed unit to a triple-glazed unit, it is necessary to manufacture an entirely separate glazing system having a triple-glazed unit for swapping with the currently fitted glazing system.
[0006] It is an object of the present invention to mitigate or obviate the disadvantages as outlined above.SUMMARY
[0007] According to a first aspect of the invention, there is provided a profile device for forming part of a frame member, the frame member being suitable for forming part of a frame assembly for a glazing system, the glazing system comprising a glazing unit selectable from a first glazing unit having a first glazing unit thickness and a second glazing unit having a second glazing unit thickness that is different to the first glazing unit thickness, said frame member comprising a first portion comprising a first portion profile member and a second portion comprising the profile device, wherein the profile device comprises: a profile body comprising a plurality of surfaces; wherein the plurality of surfaces comprise a first surface and a second surface opposite to and spaced apart from the first surface; wherein the first surface has a first end and a second end; wherein the second surface has a first end and second end; wherein the profile body comprises a first side that extends from the first end of the first surface to the first end of the second surface, wherein the first side is configured, in use, to be a coupling side; wherein the profile body extends in a first direction; wherein the profile body extends in a second direction, wherein the second direction is a longitudinal direction, and wherein the first direction is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction; wherein the first surface and the second surface are spaced apart from each other in the first direction; wherein the profile body has a central plane extending through the profile body that is perpendicular relative to the first direction; wherein the coupling side comprises one or more coupling portions, wherein the, or each, coupling portion is engageable with an engaging portion located on the first portion profile member such that the profile device is couplable to the first portion profile member to form a recess for receiving a part of the glazing unit; wherein the one or more coupling portions of the coupling side comprise one or more offset coupling portions wherein the, or each, offset coupling portion is offset relative to the central plane of the profile body; wherein the profile device is configured to be couplable to the first portion profile member in a first coupling position and a second coupling position; wherein, in the first coupling position, the profile device is couplable to the first portion profile member to form a first interlocking arrangement in which the first portion profile member is fixable, relative to the profile device, in a first position along the first direction; wherein, in the second coupling position, the profile device is couplable to the same first portion profile member to form a second interlocking arrangement in which the same first portion profile member is fixable, relative to the profile device, in a second position along the first direction that is different to the first position; and wherein said profile device is switchable between the first coupling position and the second coupling position by rotation of the profile device about at least one rotational axis of the profile device.

2. A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the profile body (102, 502, 902) is formed from a thermally insulating plastic.
3. A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the one or more coupling portions (128, 528) of the coupling side (118) of the profile device (100, 500, 900) comprise a thermal barrier coupling member (128, 528).

A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in claim 3, wherein the thermal barrier coupling member (528) is coupled to a thermal barrier receiving means (533) located on the first side (118, 518) of the profile body (102, 502, 902), and wherein the thermal barrier coupling member (528) is further couplable to the engaging portion (206) located on the first portion profile member (204, 604, 1004).
5. A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the profile body (102, 502, 902) is a tubular profile body (102, 502, 902).
6. A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the profile body (102, 502, 902) is hollow.
7. A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in claim 6, wherein the profile body (102) comprises one or more struts (124) extending between surfaces (104, 106, 504, 506, 904, 906) of the profile body (102, 502, 902).
8. A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the profile device (100, 500, 900), when in the first coupling position, is couplable to the first portion profile member (204, 604, 1004) to provide the recess with a first recess depth.

A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in claim 8, wherein the profile device (100, 500, 900), when in the second coupling position, is couplable to the first portion profile member (204, 604, 1004) to provide the recess with a second recess depth that is different to the first recess depth.
10. A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the profile device (100, 500, 900) comprises a gripping means (536) to grip a glazing seal member (538).

A glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in any preceding claim, wherein the profile device (100, 500, 900) is useable to adjust the position of the first portion profile member (204, 604, 1004) in the first direction such that the depth of the recess formed is able to flushly receive, in the first interlocking arrangement formable, the part of the first glazing unit (302a, 702a, 1102a) when selected as the glazing unit (302, 702, 1102) in the glazing system (300, 700, 1100) and, in the second interlocking arrangement formable, the part of the second glazing unit (302b, 702b, 1102b) when selected as the glazing unit (302, 702, 1102) in the glazing system (300, 700, 1100).
12. A window assembly (400, 800, 1200), wherein the window assembly (400, 800, 1200) comprises a glazing system (300, 700, 1100) as claimed in any preceding claim.

A window assembly (400, 800, 1200) as claimed in claim 12, wherein the profile device (100, 500, 900) is coupled to first portion profile member (204, 604, 1004) to form the first interlocking arrangement, and wherein the first glazing unit (302a, 702a, 1102a) is implemented as the glazing unit (302, 702, 1102).

A window assembly (400, 800, 1200) as claimed in claim 12, wherein the profile device (100, 500, 900) is coupled to first portion profile member (204, 604, 1004) to form the second interlocking arrangement, and wherein the second glazing unit (302b, 702b, 1102b) is implemented as the glazing unit (302, 702, 1102).
15. A window assembly (400, 800, 1200) as claimed in any one of claims 12 to 14, wherein the window assembly (400, 800, 1200) is a skylight window assembly (400, 800, 1200).
