Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Device for lining a multi-level trunk of a motor vehicle
[0001] The invention relates, in general, to the means used to line and soundproof a tiered trunk of a motor vehicle comprising a lower floor called the load floor and a removable upper floor.
[0002] The invention is more particularly concerned with an element that allows both soundproofing of the trunk and filling the space located between the upper floor of the trunk and the seats mounted at the rear of the passenger compartment.
[0003] Vehicle tiered trunks (also called two-position trunks) are generally equipped with a soundproofing element and a trim element added and placed between the floor and the rear seat.
[0004] This traditional solution, which uses two independent elements, requires the manufacture of at least one trim piece in cabinetmaking, which implies, on the one hand, the development of specific tooling and, on the other hand, the management of an additional part in the factory with unfavorable economic consequences.
[0005] It is already known to place a mat or carpet on the bottom of a trunk floor with a flexible soundproofing material and to close the space located in front of this mat and behind the second row seats by means of a plastic element intended to prevent objects from falling into this space.
[0006] Furthermore, patent FR2945489 B1 describes a coupe-convertible trunk compartment delimited, at its upper part, by a body panel, at its lower part, by a floor, and at its front part by a transverse wall. This panel is movable between a closed trunk compartment position and, on the one hand, a first opening position tilted rearward to allow the roof to be loaded into the trunk compartment and, on the other hand, a second opening position tilted forward to allow access to the trunk compartment.
[0007] Consequently, this trunk compartment has only one level and the transverse wall, although in one piece with the floor, is not coplanar with it and completely obscures the rear seats, which is not compatible with the trunk of the vehicles of interest to the invention.
[0008] In this context, the invention sought a solution which, in its most general aspect, makes it possible to solve in a simple way the technical problems posed by the known means of upholstery by freeing oneself from an independent and added separating element between the two-position trunk floor and the rear seat while satisfying the criteria of quality and rigidity.
[0009] This goal is achieved, according to the invention, by means of a lining device for a two-compartment, tiered motor vehicle trunk delimited in the lower part by a load floor, in the front part by a rear seat and laterally by support members for a removable floor separating the two compartments, said device comprising a soundproofing element and an element for obscuring the space between the removable floor and the rear seat, characterized in that said soundproofing element has a hollow shape and comprises, on the one hand, an upper layer of textile material which is extended in one piece by the element for obscuring the space between and, on the other hand, a lower layer of sound-insulating foam conforming to the load floor.
[0010] According to one embodiment of the device of the invention, the soundproofing element comprises a rigid shell covered with a textile top layer and a foam bottom layer.
[0011] According to an alternative embodiment of the device of the invention, the occultation element comprises a wall inclined forwards and upwards, the upper edge of which provides support for a substantially horizontal wall extending the occultation element towards the rear seat.
[0012] Preferably, the substantially horizontal wall of the obscuring element comprises only one layer of textile material.
[0013] According to an advantageous feature of the lining device of the invention, the soundproofing element is provided with side sides having, at their upper part, shoulders intended to rest on the lateral support members of the removable floor.
[0014] Preferably, the side sides of the soundproofing element comprise an inner layer of textile material and an outer layer of sound-insulating foam, while the shoulders comprise a single layer of textile material.
[0015] According to another feature of the trim device of the invention, the front edge of the concealing element is provided with notches intended to receive the mechanical components of the rear seat.
[0016] Another object of the invention is a motor vehicle equipped with a two-compartment tiered trunk fitted with a lining device as defined above.
[0017] Thus, in principle, the invention proposes an improvement of the lining devices for tiered or two-position chests in which the soundproofing element is placed directly on the load floor and does not require the use of special fixing means.
[0018] The lining device of the invention also offers an economic advantage, firstly, by eliminating the need for the previously attached concealing element and thus simplifying the assembly method, and secondly, by avoiding the inventory management for a standalone part.
[0019] In addition, the invention makes it possible to guarantee a high level of perceived quality by masking the technical area under the rear seat from view, by preventing any slippage or falling of objects from the trunk under this seat and by ensuring sufficient rigidity if support is made on the bottom of the trunk.
[0020] Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent from the following description, with reference to the accompanying figures, for which:
[0021] [Fig. 1] is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of the filling device of the invention.
[0022] [Fig.2] is a top view of the filling device of [Fig.1].
[0023] [Fig.3] is a detailed perspective view from below of the filling device the [Fig.l],
[0024] [Fig.4] is a cross-sectional view of the packing device of [Fig.1].
[0025] For clarity, identical or similar elements are identified by identical reference signs throughout the figures.
[0026] Naturally, the embodiments of the invention schematically illustrated in the figure above and described below are given only by way of non-limiting examples. It is explicitly provided for in the scope of the invention that different embodiments may be proposed and combined to create others.
[0027] The invention relates to the general field of trunk lining for motor vehicles. More particularly, the invention concerns tiered trunks comprising a removable floor 4 of adjustable height separating two superimposed compartments 41, 42 ([Fig. 4]). These trunks are delimited, at the bottom, by a low load floor 6, at the front by a rear seating area 5 (seats or bench seat – Figures 2 and 4), and laterally by support members 3 ([Fig. 2]) for the removable floor 4 separating the two compartments 41, 42. Such a trunk is said to have two positions because the support members 3 are designed so that the removable floor 4 can be positioned at at least two different heights.
[0028] A lining device for this trunk comprises, as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2, a soundproofing element 1 and a concealing element 2 for the gap 50 between the front edge of the removable floor 4 (not visible in [Fig. 1]) and the rear seat 5. Currently, the soundproofing element and the concealing element are in the form of two independent pieces arranged one behind the other with, where applicable, partial overlap on their adjacent edges. Thanks to its generally recessed shape, the soundproofing element 1 is suitable for receiving a spare wheel.
[0029] Advantageously, and as illustrated by Figures 1 to 4, the invention consists of a filling device combining these two elements 1, 2 into a single piece. by preserving and optimizing all the properties and functions of the two previous independent elements.
[0030] For this purpose, and as illustrated by figures 1 and 2, in the device of the invention, the soundproofing element 1 comprises, on the one hand, an upper layer 11 of textile material which is extended in one piece by the blackout element 2 of the intercalary space 50 and, on the other hand, a lower layer 12 of sound-insulating foam conforming to the floor 6 of the box.
[0031] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the lower layer 12 is made of a thermo-rigid foam which alone provides the rigidity of the padding. The upper textile layer 11 is then applied directly onto the lower foam layer 12 (for example, by gluing or coating).
[0032] According to one embodiment of the invention, the soundproofing element 1 may comprise a rigid (non-visible) shell made, for example, by means of a plastic injection molding process, which is then covered (optionally by overmolding, coating, or bonding) with the upper textile layer 11 and the lower foam layer 12. This shell ensures good rigidity of the padding. In this embodiment, it is possible to provide that the two layers 11, 12 may also locally overlap to be in direct contact with each other.
[0033] As illustrated in cross-section by [Fig. 4], the concealment element 2 comprises a wall 2a inclined forwards and upwards, the upper edge of which supports a substantially horizontal wall 2b extending the concealment element 2 towards the rear seat 5. The inclined wall 2a and the horizontal wall 2b cover the intervening space 50 as illustrated by [Fig. 4], thus preventing objects from falling into the area behind the seat 5, which is difficult to access. The inclined wall 2a guides these objects back towards the lower part of the device by sliding. The two walls 2a and 2b also keep the space 50 clean, preventing it from becoming soiled by the accumulation of particles originating from or passing through the compartment.
[0034] Preferably, the substantially horizontal wall 2b comprises only one layer 11 of textile material, unlike the inclined wall 2a which, for reasons of rigidity, comprises two layers 11, 12.
[0035] As illustrated by figures 1 and 3, the front edge of the occulting element 2 is provided with notches 20 intended to receive the protruding mechanical parts 51 of the rear seat 5. The notches 20 extend into the horizontal wall 2b and continue through vertical slots 21 provided in the inclined wall 2a.
[0036] The soundproofing element 1 is provided with side sides 10 having, at their upper part, shoulders 13 intended to rest on the side support members 3 of the removable floor 4, as illustrated in [Fig.2].
[0037] Preferably, these side walls 10 have, on their inner faces, a layer of textile material which is an extension of the upper layer 11 and on their outer face, a layer of sound-insulating foam which is an extension of the lower layer 12. The shoulders 13 have only one layer of textile material which is an extension of the upper layer 11 while the outer layer 12 of foam stops at the upper end of the sides 10 under the shoulders 13.
