Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Method and device for validating the movement of a vehicle by equipment of a mobile communication network infrastructure Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to methods and devices for validating the movement of a vehicle by equipment of a mobile communication network infrastructure. Technological background
[0002] Automatic systems are known which implement automated vehicle services such as valet parking or a vehicle wash service.
[0003] European patent application EP3 674 183A1 describes a valet parking service that allows an autonomous vehicle to be parked automatically, i.e. without the assistance of a driver, in a parking space of a parking lot. The valet parking service is implemented by an apparatus that is configured to receive information from a vehicle arriving at the entrance of the parking lot and to transmit to this vehicle the position of a parking space where the vehicle can park as well as a guidance route for guiding the vehicle from the entrance of the parking lot to the parking space. The apparatus is also configured to determine a parking policy on the basis of received vehicle information and stored parking space usage information of the parking lot, and to determine the position of a parking space and a guidance route on the basis of a determined parking policy.
[0004] Patent EP3516468 B1 describes a control device for an autonomous vehicle configured to execute a predetermined driving maneuver corresponding to a detected known condition, and to access, before executing the predetermined driving maneuver, on the one hand the predetermined driving maneuver from a computer memory of a vehicle and, on the other hand, a server with which the vehicle is in wireless communication. The predetermined driving maneuver may be an avoidance action, entering or leaving the vehicle in a garage, a trip to a repair shop, a trip to a gas station, a trip to a hospital or emergency room, a trip to a car wash, a trip to a parcel collection point, or a trip to a retailer.
[0005] Current automatic systems that implement this type of automated vehicle services require the intervention of a vehicle user to request the vehicle to move to a given destination, for example, to park in a specific parking space in a car park or to be washed in a car wash, or to confirm a movement of the vehicle required to implement an automated service. The current implementation of these automated services also requires the intervention of a vehicle user to, in particular, validate in advance any movement of the vehicle in order to ensure that the planned movement of the vehicle is indeed desired by this vehicle user. For example, a user can program a movement schedule for his autonomous vehicle so that the latter periodically goes to a car wash to be washed there.Periodically, the vehicle will receive a travel instruction to go to a wash station and will then ask the user to give prior consent for the vehicle to go to this wash station to be washed.
[0006] Such an implementation secures the vehicle against theft, for example, or at least against any use of the vehicle not desired by an owner / manager of the vehicle, but can prove restrictive or even tedious for the user of the vehicle, who must first validate any movement of the vehicle.
[0007] The problem to be solved is therefore to avoid a user having to systematically request / validate any planned movement of an autonomous vehicle for the implementation of an automated vehicle service while ensuring that the planned movement is indeed desired by an owner / manager of this vehicle.
[0008] Summary of the present invention
[0009] An object of the present invention is to solve at least one of the problems of the technological background described above.
[0010] Another object of the present invention is to simplify and secure automated vehicle services.
[0011] Another object of the present invention is to improve the safety of vehicles against any illicit use of a vehicle.
[0012] According to a first aspect, the present invention relates to a method for validating a movement of a vehicle by equipment of a mobile communication network infrastructure. The method comprises obtaining by the vehicle a first piece of information describing the movement that the vehicle must perform; transmitting, by the vehicle and to the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure, an authorization request signal for the vehicle to perform the movement described by the first piece of information; evaluating, by the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure, an authorization to giving the vehicle to carry out the movement described by the first information; if an authorization is assessed as being given, the transmission, by the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure and to the vehicle, of an authorization signal carrying a second information describing a destination of the vehicle once the vehicle has carried out the movement described by the first information; and the reception by the vehicle of the authorization signal and validation of the movement of the vehicle to the destination.
[0013] The method allows a vehicle, via an on-board movement validation device, to obtain movement authorization from a mobile communication network infrastructure.
[0014] The method also makes it possible to inform equipment of a mobile communication network infrastructure of a movement ritual corresponding to an automated vehicle service such as a vehicle washing service.
[0015] The method also makes it possible to secure the movements of these vehicles which correspond to these automated services, i.e. to avoid any illicit movement of the vehicle.
[0016] These authorizations are issued by this equipment of a mobile communication network infrastructure without systematically requiring the agreement of an owner / manager of the vehicle for each movement of the vehicle corresponding to a movement ritual for example.
[0017] Thus, this method is advantageous because a user can indicate to a communication network infrastructure a movement ritual and give his agreement so that a device of a communication network infrastructure gives an authorization as soon as the vehicle requests to move according to a movement of this movement ritual.
[0018] According to one embodiment, the method further comprises a step of transmitting a notification signal to a user of the vehicle to inform him that the vehicle will move according to the movement described by the first information.
[0019] According to one embodiment, the authorization is evaluated as being given if the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure has obtained from a user of the vehicle an agreement for the movement described by the first information.
[0020] According to one embodiment, the authorization is evaluated as being given if the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure considers that the movement described by the first information is feasible by the vehicle and if the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure obtains a destination corresponding to the first information.
[0021] According to a second aspect, the present invention relates to a device for validating a movement of a vehicle, the device comprising a memory associated with a processor configured for implementing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.
[0022] According to a third aspect, the present invention relates to equipment of a network infrastructure comprising a memory associated with at least one processor configured for implementing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.
[0023] According to a fourth aspect, the present invention relates to a system for validating a movement of a vehicle comprising at least one device for validating the movement of the vehicle according to the second aspect and equipment of a network infrastructure according to the third aspect.
[0024] According to a fifth aspect, the present invention relates to a vehicle, for example of the automobile type, comprising a device as described above according to the second aspect of the present invention.
[0025] According to a sixth aspect, the present invention relates to a computer program which comprises instructions adapted for executing the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention, in particular when the computer program is executed by at least one processor.
[0026] Such a computer program may use any programming language, and be in the form of source code, object code, or intermediate code between source code and object code, such as in a partially compiled form, or in any other desirable form.
[0027] According to a seventh aspect, the present invention relates to a computer-readable recording medium on which is recorded a computer program comprising instructions for carrying out the steps of the method according to the first aspect of the present invention.
[0028] On the one hand, the recording medium may be any entity or device capable of storing the program. For example, the medium may comprise a storage means, such as a ROM memory, a CD-ROM or a microelectronic circuit type ROM memory, or a magnetic recording means or a hard disk.
[0029] Furthermore, this recording medium may also be a transmissible medium such as an electrical or optical signal, such a signal being able to be conveyed via an electrical or optical cable, by conventional or hertzian radio or by self-directed laser beam or by other means. The computer program according to the present invention may in particular be downloaded from an Internet-type network.
[0030] Alternatively, the recording medium may be an integrated circuit in which the computer program is incorporated, the integrated circuit being adapted to perform or to be used in performing the method in question. Brief description of the figures

[0036] Description of the examples of embodiment
[0037] A method and a device for validating a movement of a vehicle will now be described in what follows with joint reference to Figures 1 to 4. The same elements are identified with the same reference signs throughout the description which follows.
[0038] According to the present invention, a movement of a vehicle must be validated beforehand by equipment of a network infrastructure for this vehicle to carry out this movement. For this purpose, the vehicle comprises a device for validating a movement of the vehicle which is in communication with equipment of a mobile communication infrastructure.
[0039] This movement of the vehicle may correspond, for example, to a valet parking and / or automated washing service for an autonomous vehicle. In the case of a valet parking service, the device for validating a movement of a vehicle, embedded in this vehicle, may request authorization from the equipment of a mobile communication network infrastructure, managing the parking of a car park, to move to a parking space. In the case of a washing service, the device for validating a movement of the vehicle may request authorization from the equipment of a mobile communication network infrastructure to move to a predetermined washing station. In the case of a valet parking service combined with a washing service, the device for validating a vehicle movement while at the entrance to a parking lot may request authorization from the mobile communication network infrastructure equipment managing parking in the parking lot to move to a washing station before parking in a parking space in that parking lot.
[0040] The present invention is not limited to these few use cases but its use extends to any automated vehicle service.
[0041] [Fig. 1] schematically illustrates an environment 1 of a vehicle 10, according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
[0042] The vehicle 10 corresponds for example to a vehicle with a thermal engine, with electric motor(s) or even a hybrid vehicle with a thermal engine and one or more electric motors. The vehicle 10 thus corresponds for example to a land vehicle, for example an automobile or a utility vehicle.
[0043] According to one embodiment, the vehicle 10 carries a device 2 for validating a movement of a vehicle which corresponds to a set of computers comprising at least one computer of the vehicle (for example at least one processor of this or these computers in relation to a memory).
[0044] According to a particular embodiment, these computers form for example a multiplexed architecture for the realization of different services useful for the proper functioning of the vehicle 10, for example for the implementation of the validation of movement of the vehicle 10 according to the present invention.
[0045] The computers communicate and exchange data between themselves via one or more computer buses, for example a communication bus of the CAN (Controller Area Network) type, CAN FD (Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate) type, FlexRay (according to the ISO 17458 standard), LIN (Local Interconnect Network) type or Ethernet (according to the ISO / IEC 802-3 standard).
[0046] The environment 1 of the vehicle 10 further comprises the mobile communication network infrastructure, for example an infrastructure of a V2X (Vehicle-to-everything) type network, with which the vehicle 10 is configured to communicate signals. The mobile communication network infrastructure implements, for example, communications according to LTE (Long-Term Evolution), LTE-Advanced (Long-Term Evolution - Advanced), C-V2X (Cellular - Vehicle to Everything” or in French “Cellular - Vehicle to Everything”) which relies on 4G and / or 5G, based on LTE.
[0047] For this purpose, the vehicle 10 carries a communication device corresponding for example to a telematic control unit, called TCU (from the English “Telematic Control Unit”) associated with one or more antennas.
[0048] The vehicle 10 advantageously communicates using a so-called V2X communication system, for example based on the 3GPP LTE-V or IEEE 802.1 lp standards of ITS G5. In such a V2X communication system, each vehicle carries a node to enable vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and / or vehicle-to-pedestrian (V2P) communication.
[0049] The mobile communication network infrastructure comprises, for example, communication devices 110 corresponding to relay antennas and / or roadside units (RUs), each corresponding to a node of the network.
[0050] The antenna or UBR 110 is advantageously connected to one or more remote servers 111, 112, for example via the “cloud” 100 (or in French “nuage”), via a wired and / or wireless connection. The antenna or UBR 110 is thus configured to act as a relay between the “cloud” 100 (and the remote server 111) and the vehicle 10.
[0051] The remote server 112 associated or connected to the antenna or UBR 110 corresponds for example to a peripheral computing device, to a device of the MEC type (from the English “Mobile Edge Computing” or “Multi-Access Edge Computing”) which makes it possible to move the computing traffic and the services from the centralized “cloud” 100 to an edge network, closer to the users or client devices (for example the vehicle 10). Instead of sending all the data to be processed in the “cloud”, an edge network analyzes, processes and / or stores the data. Collecting and processing the data close to the users reduces the latency of the communications and increases the bandwidth available for each user by avoiding the bottleneck effect when all the data is redirected to the “cloud” or emitted from the “cloud” 100.The standards governing the operation of the architecture and MEC-compatible devices are defined by ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute). The peripheral computing device 112 is connected to the cloud infrastructure 100 (for example to cloud servers 100 such as the server 111) via a wired backbone connection, for example of the Ethernet or optical fiber type.
[0052] According to one embodiment, the equipment of the communication network infrastructure used for validating a movement of the vehicle 10 is either the remote server 111 or the peripheral computing device 112.
[0053] According to a particular embodiment, the vehicle 10 carries one or more mobile communication devices such as one or more smartphones, that is to say that this or these mobile communication devices are in the vehicle 10. A mobile communication device is advantageously configured to communicate signals with the “cloud” via the mobile communication network infrastructure of the environment 1, for example via a wireless connection of the LTE 4G or 5G type. A mobile communication device is further configured to communicate signals with the vehicle 10 when a wireless or wired connection is established between this mobile communication device and the vehicle 10. A wireless connection is for example of the Wifi® or Bluetooth® type.
[0054] According to one embodiment, the device 2 for validating a movement of the vehicle 10 corresponds to a mobile communication device present in the vehicle 10 and optionally connected in wireless communication to the vehicle 10.
[0055] According to another embodiment, the device 2 for validating a movement of the vehicle 10 corresponds to a system formed of one or more vehicle computers connected in wireless communication with a mobile communication device.
[0056] A process for validating a movement of the vehicle 10 by equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure of [Fig.l], is advantageously implemented by the peripheral computing device 112 or the remote server 111 and a device 2 embedded in the vehicle 10.
[0057] In a first operation, the device 2 obtains first information describing a movement that the vehicle 10 must carry out from its current position.
[0058] In a second operation, the device 2 transmits, to the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure (peripheral computing device 112 or remote server 111), an authorization request signal for the vehicle to carry out the movement described by the first information.
[0059] In a third operation, the mobile communication network infrastructure equipment evaluates an authorization to be given to the vehicle to carry out the movement described by the first information.
[0060] If an authorization is evaluated as not being given, in a fourth operation, the device 2 informs the user of the vehicle 10 that a request to move the vehicle 10 has not been successful.
[0061] If an authorization is evaluated as given, the third operation is followed by a fifth, sixth and, possibly, a seventh operation.
[0062] In the fifth operation, the mobile communication network infrastructure equipment transmits, to the device 2, an authorization signal carrying a second piece of information describing a destination of the vehicle 10 once the vehicle 10 has carried out the movement described by the first piece of information.
[0063] In the sixth operation, the device 2 receives the authorization signal and validates the movement of the vehicle 10 to the destination.
[0064] According to a variant, in the seventh operation, a notification signal is sent to a user of the vehicle 10 to inform him that the vehicle 10 will move according to the movement described by the first information.
[0065] According to one embodiment of this variant, the notification signal is emitted by the device 2.
[0066] According to one embodiment of this variant, the notification signal is emitted by the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure.
[0067] According to a variant, the authorization is evaluated as being given if the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure has obtained from a user of the vehicle an agreement for the movement described by the first information.
[0068] According to one embodiment, the agreement is given in response to the authorization request signal emitted by the device 2.
[0069] According to one embodiment, the authorization request signal is received by a mobile communication device and the agreement is given by the user of the vehicle via said mobile communication device.
[0070] According to one embodiment, the agreement is given by the transmission of a signal to the device 2.
[0071] According to one embodiment, the agreement is given by the transmission of a signal to the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure.
[0072] According to a variant, the authorization is evaluated as being given if the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure considers that the movement described by the first information is achievable by the vehicle 10 and if the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure obtains a destination corresponding to the first information, that is to say corresponding to the destination reached by the vehicle 10 when it has carried out the movement described by the first information.
[0073] According to one embodiment, the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure considers that the movement described by the first information is feasible when the energy resources of the vehicle 10 are sufficient to carry out the movement.
[0074] [Fig.2] schematically illustrates a device configured for the validation of a movement of the vehicle 10 of [Fig.l], according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
[0075] The device 2 is for example configured for the implementation of the first, second and sixth and possibly seventh operations described with regard to [Fig. 1] and / or the first, second and sixth and possibly seventh steps of the method described with regard to [Fig. 3]. Examples of such a device 2 include, but are not limited to, on-board electronic equipment such as an on-board computer of a vehicle, an electronic calculator such as an ECU (“Electronic Control Unit”), a smartphone, a tablet, a laptop, a computer, a server. The elements of the device 2, individually or in combination, can be integrated in a single integrated circuit, in several integrated circuits, and / or in discrete components. The device 2 can be produced in the form of electronic circuits or software (or computer) modules or even a combination of electronic circuits and software modules.
[0076] The device 2 comprises one (or more) processor(s) 20 configured to execute instructions for carrying out the steps of the method and / or for executing the instructions of the software(s) embedded in the device 2. The processor 20 may include integrated memory, an input / output interface, and various circuits known to those skilled in the art. The device 2 further comprises at least one memory 21 corresponding for example to a volatile and / or non-volatile memory and / or comprises a memory storage device which may comprise volatile and / or non-volatile memory, such as EEPROM, ROM, PROM, RAM, DRAM, SRAM, flash, magnetic or optical disk.
[0077] The computer code of the embedded software(s) comprising the instructions to be loaded and executed by the processor is for example stored in the memory 21.
[0078] According to various particular and non-limiting embodiments, the device 2 is coupled in communication with other similar devices or systems and / or with communication devices, for example a TCU (from the English “Telematic Control Unit” or in French “Telematic Control Unit”), for example via a communication bus or through dedicated input / output ports.
[0079] According to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment, the device 2 comprises a block 22 of interface elements for communicating with external devices, for example a remote server 111 and / or 112 or the “cloud” 100, other nodes of the ad hoc network.
[0080] According to another particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment, the device 2 comprises a communication interface 23 which makes it possible to establish a communication with other devices (such as other computers of the on-board system) via a communication channel 230. The communication interface 23 corresponds for example to a transmitter configured to transmit and receive information and / or data via the communication channel 230. The communication interface 23 corresponds for example to a wired network of the CAN (Controller Area Network) type, CAN FD (Controller Area Network Flexible Data-Rate), FlexRay (standardized by the ISO 17458 standard) or Ethernet (standardized by the ISO / IEC 802-3 standard).
[0081] According to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment, the device 2 can provide output signals to one or more external devices, such as a display screen 240, touch-sensitive or not, one or more speakers 250 and / or other peripherals 260 (for example a haptic actuator) via output interfaces 24, 25 and 26 respectively. According to a variant, one or other of the external devices is integrated into the device 2.
[0082] [Fig. 3] schematically illustrates a flowchart of the different steps of a method for validating a movement of the vehicle 10 of [Fig. 1], according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
[0083] The method is for example implemented by a device on board the vehicle 10 or by the device 2 of [Fig.2].
[0084] In a first step 31, a first piece of information describing a movement that the vehicle 10 must make from its current position is obtained by the device 2.
[0085] In a second step 32, an authorization request signal for the vehicle 10 to carry out the movement described by the first information is sent by the device 2 to a piece of equipment in the mobile communication network infrastructure.
[0086] In a third step 33, an authorization is evaluated by the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure. This authorization is given so that the vehicle 10 carries out the movement described by the first information.
[0087] If an authorization is evaluated as not being given, step 33 is followed by a step 34.
[0088] In step 34, the device 2 informs the user of the vehicle 10 that a request to move the vehicle 10 has not been successful.
[0089] If an authorization is evaluated as given, step 33 is followed by steps 35, 36 and optionally 37.
[0090] In the fifth step 35, an authorization signal is transmitted by the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure to the device 2. The authorization signal carries a second piece of information describing a destination of the vehicle 10 once the vehicle 10 has carried out the movement described by the first information.
[0091] In the sixth step 36, the authorization signal is received by the device 2 and the device 2 validates the movement of the vehicle 10 to the destination.
[0092] According to a variant, in the seventh step 37, a notification signal is sent to a user of the vehicle 10 to inform him that the vehicle 10 will move according to the movement described by the first information.
[0093] [Fig.4] schematically illustrates a flowchart of the different steps of a method for validating a movement of the vehicle of [Fig.1] used to implement a valet parking service combined with a vehicle washing service, according to a particular and non-limiting exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
[0094] Let us assume that the vehicle 10, typically an autonomous vehicle, arrives at the entrance to a parking lot in which it is intended to park. A mobile communication network infrastructure manages both the occupation of the parking spaces in the parking lot and the use of a washing station.
[0095] In a step 31, first information describing a movement to the washing station is obtained by the device 2.
[0096] According to a variant, the first information comprises location information of the defined washing station, for example as mapping coordinates, such as geolocation coordinates (GPS).
[0097] In a step 41, the device 2 then determines whether it is in a constrained environment, i.e. whether it can enter into communication with equipment in the mobile communication infrastructure.
[0098] If the device 2 is not in a constrained environment, step 41 is followed by steps 42-44.
[0099] In step 42, the device 2 determines whether a user of the vehicle 10 has previously authorized the vehicle 10 to move to the washing station for the purpose of being washed.
[0100] According to a variant, the device 2 can determine whether a user of the vehicle 10 has previously authorized the vehicle 10 to move to the washing station if the authorization given by the user is recorded in an on-board memory of the vehicle 10.
[0101] If the device 2 determines that the user has authorized the vehicle 10 to move to the washing station, step 42 is followed by step 43. In step 43, the vehicle 10 moves to the washing station according to, for example, a method of patent EP3 516 468 B1. Otherwise, step 42 is followed by step 44.
[0102] In step 44, the vehicle 10 informs the user that a request to move to a washing station was unsuccessful and requests an instruction from the user so that the vehicle 10 does not remain at the entrance to the parking lot.
[0103] If the device 2 is in a constrained environment, step 41 is followed by steps 44-46.
[0104] In step 45, the device 2 determines whether the mobile communication network infrastructure manages parking in the parking lot.
[0105] If this is not the case, step 45 is followed by step 44.
[0106] If this is the case, step 45 is followed by the method described in relation to [Fig.3]. In step 31, a first item of information describing the movement that the vehicle 10 must make to go from the entrance of the parking lot to the washing station is obtained by the device 2. In step 32, an authorization request signal for the vehicle 10 to make the movement described by the first item of information is sent by the device 2 to the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure managing the parking in the parking lot. In step 33, an authorization is evaluated by the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure managing the parking in the parking lot. This authorization is given so that the vehicle 10 makes the movement from the entrance of the parking lot to the washing station. If an authorization is evaluated as not being given, step 33 is followed by a step 34. In step 34, the device 2 informs the user of the vehicle 10 that a request to move the vehicle 10 was not successful. If an authorization is evaluated as being given, step 33 is followed by steps 35, 36 and optionally 37. In step 35, an authorization signal is emitted by the equipment of the mobile communication network infrastructure managing the parking of the parking lot to the device 2. The authorization signal carries a second information describing the destination of the washing station. In step 36, the authorization signal is received by the device 2 and the device 2 validates the movement of the vehicle 10 to the washing station. A notification signal is optionally emitted (step 37) to the user of the vehicle 10 to inform him that the vehicle 10 will move to the washing station.
[0107] The method of [Fig.4] allows the vehicle 10 to inform a mobile communication network infrastructure responsible for managing the parking of a parking lot of its washing ritual and requests authorization from this infrastructure to go to the washing station which may be a washing station also managed by this mobile communication network infrastructure. The mobile communication network infrastructure can then authorize the vehicle 10 to go to the washing station by giving it the route to follow without systematically requesting prior agreement from the owner / manager of the vehicle 10.
[0108] Of course, the present invention is not limited to the exemplary embodiments described above but extends to a method for validating a movement of a vehicle which would include secondary steps without thereby departing from the scope of the present invention. The same would apply to a device configured for implementing such a method.
[0109] The present invention also relates to a vehicle, for example an automobile or more generally an autonomous land-based motor vehicle, comprising the device 2 of [Fig.2].
