Description

Title of the invention: LUMBAR SPLINT

[0001] The present invention relates to a lumbar splint (3) for all persons suffering from lower back pain, herniated discs and numerous vertebral pathologies.

[0002] Back pain and herniated discs are traditionally relieved using elastic belts that move abnormally with the person's movements.

[0003] Many technical solutions exist to remedy or alleviate these pathologies, both on the market or through scientific and / or medical literature, and also of course through the “Patents” resource. In terms of state of the art close to the device which is the subject of the patent application, we can in particular cite the following patent applications FR2982144, US2020352772, FR2971703, US5179942, US5722940, US4572167.

[0004] The device according to the invention makes it possible to overcome this drawback. It makes it possible to maintain the splint (3) in the desired position depending on the ergonomics and movements of the person. It comprises, in fact, according to a first characteristic, a compartmentalized structure containing longitudinal stays (10) for stiffening it and transverse stays (6) for positioning the splint (3) in height. The lateral positioning of the lumbar splint (3) is carried out by passing the belt (2) which ensures the positioning and the necessary pressure of the splint (3) on the lumbar region. The elastic strap (9) which is integral with the splint (3) is anchored on each side on the adjustable device (4) on the belt (2).

[0005] The accompanying drawings illustrate the invention.

[0006] [Fig.l] represents the device of the invention.

[0007] [Fig.2] represents a part of this invention.

[0008] Figures 3 and 4 show an exploded view of a part of this invention.

[0009] With reference to these drawings, the splint (3) comprises a pocket-shaped structure with loops (5), a belt (2) with an adjustment device (4), an elastic strap (9) and trousers (1). The splint (3) is provided with longitudinal stays (10) to stiffen the splint, and transverse stays (6).

[0010] The compartments of the splint (3) can also receive heating inserts, inserts for electrostimulation, pain relief patches, etc.

[0011] The transverse stays (6) are precisely positioned one above and the other below the belt (2) for the precise positioning of the splint (3) in height.

[0012] The lateral positioning of the lumbar splint (3) is carried out by passing the belt (2) through the loops (5) of the splint (3) and the central rear loop (7) of the trousers (1).

[0013] The tightening of the belt (2) of the trousers (1) alone ensures lateral centering, height positioning as well as the necessary pressure of the splint (3) on the lumbar region.

[0014] With reference to [Fig. 3], in a preferred embodiment the structures (3) and (3b) can be positioned by a self-gripping system allowing easy repositioning depending on the patient's pathology.

[0015] With reference to [Fig. 3], in a preferred embodiment the structure (3c) has the same function as (3b). It is distinguished by a hooking system which can be clipped onto the waistband of the trousers (2).

[0016] The elastic strap (9) is integral with the splint (3) and is attached to a ring (4) on each side of the belt (2).

[0017] Adjustable rings (4) can also be provided for more precise adjustment.

[0018] It is particularly desirable that when the elastic strap (9) is passed through the rings (4), they reposition themselves on themselves using a self-gripping system.

[0019] In a preferred embodiment, the elastic strap may be provided with markers to tension both sides identically.

[0020] The invention therefore relates in particular to a lumbar splint (3) capable of being positioned on the belt of clothing, trousers, skirt or the like, insertable between the body and said clothing and that it is made up of 2 flexible structures, one (3) in the axis of the spinal column, the other perpendicular (3b or 3c), joined together, of the substantially rectangular pocket type, longitudinally compartmentalized, said compartments receiving stays (10) and (6) to stiffen them, means for attaching to the belt being fixed on the transverse flexible structure (3b or 3c) on the same side of the flexible structure, on the same transverse axis, substantially halfway along the length of the structure (3) in the axis of the spinal column.

[0021] According to one embodiment, the attachment means consist of a plurality of regularly coaxially arranged loops.

[0022] In a preferred embodiment, at least 2 compartments of the flexible structure (3b, or 3c) containing the stays (6) are positioned above and below the waistband of the trousers, thus ensuring the positioning and maintenance in height of the splint (3) on the waistband.

[0023] According to one embodiment, the attachment means are fixed to the flexible pocket (3b) provided with self-gripping material on the flexible structure (3) allowing adjustment of the installation height of said attachment means.

[0024] The flexible structure (3) may be provided with at least one opening allowing the insertion and replacement of ribs.

[0025] The compartments of the splint (3) can also receive heating inserts, inserts for electrostimulation, pain relief patches and the like.

[0026] It may be provided that the back brace comprises an elastic strap (9) integral with the brace (3) capable of being anchored on each side to an adjustable device (4) on the belt (2), the elastic strap (9) integral with the brace (3) being able to be anchored on each side to an adjustable device (4) on the belt (2).

[0027] The lateral positioning of the lumbar splint (3) is ensured by the passage of the belt (2) through the multiple loops (5) integral with the lumbar splint (3) distributed equally on each side of the central loop (7) of the trousers (1) thus ensuring the necessary pressure of the splint (3) on the lumbar region.

[0028] It can be provided that the transverse pocket (3c) comprises means for clipping onto the belt (2).
