Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Support for a luminous device for a vehicle. Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a support for a vehicle lighting device. The present invention also relates to a vehicle lighting device. Technological background
[0002] The lighting devices of motor vehicles today fulfill several functions such as illuminating and defining a light signature of a vehicle. Lighting allows the driver of a vehicle to precisely perceive the vehicle's environment and to be seen by other road users. The light signature allows a vehicle to be easily identified, day and night.
[0003] Such lighting devices are integrated, for example, into the exterior silhouette of a vehicle or its passenger compartment. These lighting devices generally comprise numerous components including light sources, electronic cards, electrical harnesses, optical elements capable of guiding the light rays, ornamental elements, cooling means or adjustment means, as well as electrical connectors then allowing the lighting device to be electrically connected to the vehicle's electrical system during its assembly. The vehicle's electrical system further comprises a power supply and means for controlling the lighting device.
[0004] These lighting devices must satisfy several requirements, of robustness, compactness, lightness, aesthetics and economy. In addition, the assembly of the different components of a lighting device is a delicate operation due to the large number of components, the precision required for their relative positioning, and due to restricted access to certain areas of the lighting device.
[0005] Such lighting devices generally comprise a housing, a first electrical connector, a second electrical connector connected to a power source and fixed to the housing, a support mounted on the housing, a lighting system mounted on the support and an electrical harness which makes it possible to connect the first electrical connector to the lighting system, said first electrical connector being plugged into the second electrical connector. Plugging the first electrical connector into the second electrical connector when mounting the lighting device can be complex and requires a sufficient length of electrical harness in order to more easily handle the first electrical connector. during its plugging in. This may result in assembly defects of the lighting device caused by poor positioning of the electrical harness, which may, for example, cause a sealing problem with said lighting device. The first connector may also be incorrectly plugged into the second electrical connector. Summary of the present invention
[0006] The present invention overcomes the problems of the technological background described above by designing a support on the lighting device which makes it possible in particular to improve the assembly, to reduce the assembly time and the manufacturing cost and to optimize the quality of the lighting device.
[0007] To this end, the invention relates firstly to a support for a lighting device for a vehicle comprising a first electrical connector and an electrical harness connected to the first electrical connector and to a lighting system mounted on the support, the first electrical connector being capable of being connected by translation along an axis, the support being characterised in that it comprises: - a receiving area provided with a housing, the housing being configured to accommodate the first electrical connector and being provided with means for anchoring the first electrical connector to hold it in the receiving area, and - guiding and holding means arranged on the support to define a path for the electrical beam between the reception zone and the lighting system.
[0008] Such a support for a lighting device not only allows the first electrical connector to be received and held in position, but also allows the electrical harness to be guided and held in position, which makes it possible to form an assembly comprising the support, the first electrical connector, the electrical harness and the lighting system, the various components of which are fixed relative to each other. Thus, the assembly can be handled as a single unit during its positioning in the housing, positioning which simultaneously allows the first connector to be plugged into the second electrical connector. This considerably reduces the time required to assemble the housing. In addition, it is no longer necessary to have sufficient length of electrical harness to handle the first connector during its plugging in, thus reducing the cost of the electrical harness.
[0009] According to an advantageous embodiment, the receiving zone comprises a slot connecting its housing to a volume external to said support. Such a slot thus makes it possible to pass the electrical harness into the receiving zone to then engage the first connector there. This slot therefore facilitates the operation of mounting the first connector on the receiving zone of the support and also contributes to reducing the length of the electrical harness.
[0010] According to an advantageous embodiment, the anchoring means of the receiving zone comprise a set of ribs arranged inside the housing and configured to contact an outer contour of the first electrical connector and hold the first electrical connector in position by clamping when the first electrical connector is positioned in the receiving area. These ribs then allow adjustment of the anchoring means of the receiving area to the shape and dimensions of the outer contour of the first electrical connector, thereby properly holding the first electrical connector in position.
[0011] According to an advantageous embodiment, the housing comprises an inner contour whose shape corresponds to that of the outer contour of the first electrical connector in the same section plane normal to the axis, the inner and outer contours being spaced from each other by a distance d, the ribs having a depth greater than the distance d. The ribs thus have an excess thickness of material which is then crushed when the first connector is inserted. The first electrical connector is then held in the housing without play.
[0012] According to an advantageous embodiment, the receiving zone comprises a stop surface configured to block the first electrical connector in translation along the axis by pressing the first electrical connector on the stop surface. The first electrical connector is thus blocked in translation relative to the support, preventing it from sliding into the housing during a future insertion of the first electrical connector into a second electrical connector.
[0013] According to an advantageous embodiment, the receiving zone is positioned on an appendage of the support. Such an appendage is thus produced to precisely position the first electrical connector relative to the support. This appendage also makes it possible to leave the rest of the surface of the support free for the arrangement and mounting thereon of the electrical harness and the lighting system.
[0014] According to an advantageous embodiment, the support comprises a chute configured to receive a light guide, the lighting system comprising the light guide and at least one light source arranged at at least one end of the light guide. Such a configuration thus makes it possible to have a lighting system which has a specific light shape or curvature obtained from the light guide.
[0015] According to an advantageous embodiment, the support comprises means for fixing to a housing. These fixing means thus allow assembly of the support to the housing.
[0016] According to an advantageous embodiment, the support is made in a single piece in a thermoplastic material. Such a material thus makes it possible to produce different technical forms making it possible to carry out all of the functions previously described using a single piece, thus offering a robust and economical solution.
[0017] The invention also relates to a lighting device for a vehicle comprising: - a case, - a first electrical connector, - a second electrical connector connected to an electrical power source, the second electrical connector being attached to the housing, - a support as defined previously mounted on the housing, the first electrical connector being plugged into the second electrical connector by translation of the support along the axis during its mounting on the housing, - a lighting system mounted on the support, and - an electrical harness connected to the first electrical connector and to the lighting system.
[0018] Thus, thanks to all of the functional and structural technical characteristics of the present invention, there is provided a light device which is easily assembled and whose construction is robust, the majority of the components of this device being positioned and maintained in particular using the support on which said components are pre-mounted before their positioning in the housing. Brief description of the figures
[0019] Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will emerge from the description below, with reference to the appended figures 1 to 7 which illustrate different exemplary embodiments thereof without any limiting character and in which: - [Fig.l] represents a perspective view of a part of a lighting device according to the present invention, according to an exemplary embodiment, said view illustrating the different elements mounted on the support before mounting of the assembly on a housing of said lighting device; - [Fig.2] represents a perspective view of a light device according to the present invention, according to an exemplary embodiment, said view showing the elements of [Fig.l] from another viewing angle, mounted on a housing; - [Fig.3] represents a perspective view of the support of a luminous device as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2; - [Fig.4] and [Fig.5] represent an example of the production of a first connector mounted on a receiving area of the support, according to two different section planes; - [Fig.6] represents a front view of the first connector mounted on the receiving area of the support, according to the example illustrated in figures 4 and 5; and - [Fig.7] represents an exploded view of the lighting device according to this exemplary embodiment in accordance with the present invention. Description of examples of implementation
[0020] An example of a light device will now be described with reference to Figures 1 to 7. According to this example, the light device 1 is designed to produce a light signature on a motor vehicle making it possible to distinguish it from other motor vehicles and thus to easily recognize it by the particular light shape implemented. This light device 1 is intended to be assembled at the front of a vehicle in order to produce a light signature in front of the vehicle. The invention is however not limited to this particular embodiment and extends to any light device making it possible to perform an automobile signaling function such as a daytime running light, a direction indicator, a front or rear position light, a brake light in a stand-alone module or integrated into a vehicle headlight or tail light. The invention also extends to interior lighting devices, for example a ceiling light or light inserts in a dashboard or doors.
[0021] The lighting device 1 comprises various components, in particular: - a support 10, - a first electrical connector 11, - an electrical harness 12, - a lighting system 13, - a housing 14, and - a second connector 15 mounted on the housing 14.
[0022] The support 10 makes it possible to receive and assemble various components of the lighting device 1. It also receives a first electrical connector 11. It should be noted that the invention is not limited to a single first electrical connector 11 but to at least one first electrical connector 11, which can thus include a plurality of first electrical connectors 11.
[0023] Indeed, the lighting device 1 may comprise, according to other particular embodiments, a plurality of lighting systems 13, which are for example each connected to a first electrical connector 11 of a set of first electrical connectors 11 by means of electrical harnesses 12.
[0024] Similarly, an electrical harness 12 can be connected to several first electrical connectors 11, for example to connect a first electrical power supply of a second electrical connector 15 to a second electrical power supply of another second electrical connector 15. Such an embodiment thus makes it possible to connect several electrical circuits connected to the lighting device by means of several second electrical connectors plugged into first electrical connectors 11, for example to obtain ground continuity.
[0025] The first electrical connector 11 makes it possible to power the lighting system 13 via the electrical harness 12. The first electrical connector 11 is capable to be connected by translation along an axis A to a second electrical connector 15.
[0026] The electrical harness 12 is for example crimped at a first end on the first electrical connector 11, making it integral and inseparable. The electrical harness 12 further comprises a number of wires depending on the functions to be performed. For example, the electrical harness 12 comprises a ground wire and a power supply wire for the light source 13.
[0027] At a second end, the electrical harness 12 is for example connected to a third electrical connector 12d. This third electrical connector 12d then makes it possible to connect the lighting system 13 to the electrical harness 12 by inserting the third electrical connector 12d into a fourth electrical connector 13d belonging to the lighting system 13. For example, the third electrical connector 12d is a male electrical connector, configured to be fitted into the fourth electrical connector 13d of the female type, the third 12d and fourth 13d electrical connectors comprising the same number of terminals.
[0028] The present invention is however not limited to this type of connection between the electrical harness 12 and the lighting system 13, the electrical connections between the electrical harness 12 and the lighting system 13 being able to be made, according to other examples, using terminal blocks receiving the electrical wires or using tracks on which the electrical wires are soldered.
[0029] The lighting system 13 is configured to emit light when it is powered, for example by a voltage equal to 5V, 12V or 24V. According to a particular exemplary embodiment, the light intensity emitted by the lighting system varies as a function of its supply voltage.
[0030] According to the exemplary embodiment shown in [Fig.l], the lighting system 13 comprises a first light source 13a and a second light source 13b, the first 13a and second 13b light sources being connected to a light guide 13c.
[0031] The first 13a and second 13b light sources each comprise an electronic card or printed circuit (in English "printed circuit board" or "PCB") on which is arranged a set of at least one light-emitting diode, called LED (in English "LED" for "Light-Emitting Diode"). Each set of at least one LED is configured so that the emitted light is sent into the light guide 13c. According to other exemplary embodiments not illustrated, the first 13a and second 13b light sources comprise light sources such as bulbs, of the halogen or xenon type, or even lasers. A fourth electrical connector 13d is for example arranged on each of the electronic cards.
[0032] The light guide 13c is for example composed of a transparent material in in which a plurality of reflectors are arranged, the reflectors returning the light traveling through the guide outwards in a determined direction. The transparent material is for example of the styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN) or polycarbonate (PC) type. Such a material is in particular selected so as not to absorb the visible light passing through it. The section, shape and curvature of such a light guide 13c makes it possible in particular to obtain a homogeneous and uniform diffusion of the light passing through it.
[0033] The particular embodiment shown here comprises a first 13a and a second 13b light source placed at each end of the light guide 13c in order to obtain this homogeneous light diffusion. Indeed, the curvature of the light guide 13c requires two light sources because the light emitted by a single light source would not reach the entirety of the light guide 13c, thus generating a dark area. The present invention is however not limited to this particular embodiment, a single light source being sufficient to illuminate the entirety of a less curved light guide. More than two light sources is also conceivable, depending on the shapes and curvatures of the light guide, which is representative of the light signature obtained.Likewise, the present invention extends to a light device comprising several light guides 13c, each light guide being associated with one or more light sources.
[0034] According to the particular embodiment shown in [Fig.l], the electrical harness 12 is composed of three parts. A first part 12a of the electrical harness 12 connects the first electrical connector 11 to the first light source 13a, a second part 12b of the electrical harness 12 connects the first electrical connector 11 to the second light source 13b and a third part 12c of the electrical harness 12 connects the first light source 13a to the second light source 13b.
[0035] The support 10 positions each of these components relative to each other. Thus, the first 13a and second 13b light sources are, for example, positioned relative to the support 10 using studs 107 and fixed to the support 10 by means of fixing screws 100. According to this same example, the support 10 comprises a channel 109 configured to receive the light guide 13c, such a channel 109 being produced for example by making a groove in the support 10 or by arranging ribs on either side of the light guide 13c. The groove or the ribs are, for example, partial, positioning and holding the light guide 13c on the support 10 at various locations.
[0036] The support 10 also comprises guiding and holding means 105 for defining a path for the electrical harness 12 between a receiving zone 101 of the first electrical connector 11 and the lighting system 13. The means 105 of guiding and holding means consist for example of recesses 105a in the support 10 made so as to pass the electrical harness 12 while minimizing its length, these recesses 105a being for example rounded or curved to avoid damaging the electrical harness 12 due to friction which may be caused by expansions of material and by possible vibrations during the use phase, that is to say when the vehicle on which the lighting device 1 is mounted is moving for example. The guiding and holding means 105 also comprise holding members 105b which are for example obtained by producing pairs of lugs, the two lugs of each pair being placed on either side of the electrical harness 12 with a spacing between them less than the diameter of the electrical harness 12 so as to clamp and hold said electrical harness 12 during its introduction between these two lugs. The holding members 105b can also be implemented by means of clips arranged directly in the support 10 and receiving by snap-fastening sections of the electrical harness 12. The holding members 105b can also consist of additional parts such as clips or clamps, attached by snap-fastening in areas arranged for this purpose on the support 10 and allowing the electrical harness 12 to be held in place.
[0037] According to a particular exemplary embodiment and as illustrated in [Fig.2], the lighting device 1 comprises a housing 14. Such a housing 14 constitutes for example the interface with the vehicle, that is to say it is fixed to the vehicle when the lighting device 1 is assembled on the vehicle.
[0038] As illustrated in [Fig.3], the support 10 comprises means 106 for fixing to a housing 14, further enabling the support 10 to be positioned in the housing 14 and fixed, for example using screws 100 and / or clips.
[0039] The support 10 comprises a receiving zone 101 provided with a housing 102, the housing being configured to accommodate the first electrical connector 11 and being provided with anchoring means 103 of the first electrical connector 11 for holding it in the receiving zone 10.
[0040] This receiving zone 101 is, for example, positioned on an appendage 108 of the support 10, such an appendage 108 making it possible to precisely position the receiving zone 101 as a function of the position of the first electrical connector 11 in the lighting device. Such an appendage is, for example, a protrusion or a protruding tab if the position of the first electrical connector 11 is distant from the main body of the support 10. According to other exemplary embodiments, the receiving zone 101 is produced in the main body, for example in the form of a removal of material or a pocket. According to yet another particular exemplary embodiment, the receiving zone 101 is a part added to the support 10, for example an additional part fixed to the support 10.
[0041] According to a particular embodiment, the receiving zone 101 comprises a slot 104 connecting its housing 102 to a volume external to the support 10. Thus, to assemble the light device 1, the electrical harness 12 is passed through this slot 104, then making it possible to position the first electrical connector 11 opposite the housing 102 in such a way as to insert the first electrical connector 11 into this housing 102 by translation along the axis A. The first electrical connector 11 then comes into contact with the anchoring means 103 of the receiving zone 101. These anchoring means 103 of the receiving zone 101 comprise, for example, a set of ribs 1031 arranged inside the housing 102 and configured to come into contact with an external contour of the first electrical connector 11 and hold the first electrical connector 11 in position by clamping when the first electrical connector 11 is positioned in the receiving zone 101.
[0042] Thus, an assembly comprising the support 10, the first electrical connector 11, the electrical harness 12 and the lighting system 13 is obtained by positioning the first electrical connector 11 in its housing 102 and by positioning the electrical harness 12 in the guiding and holding means 105. Each of the components is then fixed relative to each other, allowing easy handling of this assembly. The electrical harness 12 is thus made of an appropriate length, without excess length because it is then not necessary to handle it subsequently to connect one of its ends. Such a characteristic makes it possible to optimize the cost of the electrical harness 12.
[0043] According to a particular embodiment and as presented in Figures 4 and 6, the housing 102 comprises an inner contour 1021 whose shape corresponds to that of the outer contour 111 of the first electrical connector 11 in the same section plane PI normal to the axis A, for example a rectangular contour with rounded corners, the inner and outer contours being spaced from each other by a distance d. The ribs 1031 have a depth greater than the distance d, that is to say that the ribs 1031 have an excess thickness e which collides with the outer contour 111 of the first electrical connector 11 when the latter is inserted. These ribs 1031, also called gadroons, then deform to match the outer contour 111 of the first electrical connector 11 and hold it in position by exerting pressure on this outer contour 111.It should be noted that the slot 104 does not here have the role of giving flexibility to the receiving zone 101, the receiving zone 101 then being non-deformable outside the ends of the ribs 1031. Thus, it is possible to adjust an insertion force of the first electrical connector 11 in the housing 102 by modifying the width of the ribs as well as the excess thickness e. These dimensions take into account in particular functional clearances defined using manufacturing tolerances of the first electrical connector 11 and the support. 10.
[0044] According to a particular embodiment example not illustrated here, the receiving zone 101 comprises a keying device, for example a groove or a rib, capable of cooperating with respectively a rib or a groove arranged on the external contour of the first electrical connector 11 in order to avoid any error in positioning the first connector 11 in the housing 102 of the support 10 which is associated with it. According to another example, the keying is obtained when the external contour of the first electrical connector 11 is not symmetrical.
[0045] Finally, according to a particular embodiment illustrated in [Fig. 5], the receiving zone 101 comprises a stop surface 1032 configured to block the first electrical connector 11 in translation along the axis A by pressing the first electrical connector 11 on the stop surface 1032. Thus, to plug or skewer the first electrical connector 11 secured to the support 10 into a second electrical connector 15 secured to the housing 14 or the vehicle 10, the first electrical connector 10 is blocked in translation and the translational movement of the support 10 makes it possible to connect by plugging or skewering the first electrical connector 10 to the second electrical connector 15.
[0046] The section planes PI, P2 of figures 4 and 5 are orthogonal, the section plane PI of [Fig.4] is defined as normal to the axis A while the section plane P2 of [Fig.5] includes the axis A.
[0047] According to an exemplary embodiment, the support 10 is made in a single piece from a thermoplastic material, for example the support 10 is obtained by injection molding. The material of the support is for example polyamide (PA), polypropylene (PP), polycarbonate (PC), or acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS). The material of the support 10 is, for example, selected for its mechanical properties, the support having to be sufficiently rigid to ensure that each of the components of the lighting device 1 is held in position while being sufficiently flexible to deform, for example when inserting the first electrical connector 11 or when inserting the light guide 13c into the channel 109. The material chosen must in particular be heat-resistant, being in particular in contact with the electronic cards of the first 13a and second 13b light sources.
[0048] The fact of using a single-piece part makes it possible in particular to overcome numerous tolerances such as manufacturing tolerances of several parts and assembly tolerances of these same parts. Thus, the dimensional variations of the support 10 are contained and the assembly of the lighting device is more robust. In addition, it is not necessary to carry out mounting operations of the support 10, the assembly time of the lighting device is thus reduced.
[0049] [Fig.7] represents a schematic front view of a lighting device 1 according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention in exploded view.
[0050] The lighting device 1 for a vehicle thus comprises: - a 14 case, - a second electrical connector 15 connected to an electrical power source (not shown), the second electrical connector 15 being fixed to the housing 14 or to the vehicle, - a first electrical connector 11, - a support 10 mounted on the housing 14, the first electrical connector 11 being plugged into the second electrical connector 15 by translation of the support 10 along the axis A during its mounting on the housing 14, - a lighting system 13 mounted on the support 10, for example composed of first 13a and second 13b light sources and a light guide 13c, and - an electrical harness 12 connected to said first electrical connector 11 and to the lighting system 13.
[0051] Optionally, the lighting device 1 comprises a mask 16 and a diffuser 17. The mask 16 also makes it possible to mask the so-called “technical” parts of the lighting device, i.e. the support and the components presented previously. Only the light source 13, or more precisely the light guide 13c, remain visible. The mask 16 is then an ornamental part, for example chrome-plated or painted, intended to embellish the lighting device 1. This mask 16 is notably visible through the diffuser 17, the diffuser 17 being a transparent part allowing the light emitted by the light source 13 to be diffused.
[0052] Thus, the diffuser 17 and the housing 14 define the outer casing of the lighting device 1. These parts then also have a role of sealing and mechanical strength in order to protect the various components present in the lighting device 1.
[0053] A method of assembling the light device 1 comprises, for example, the following steps: - in a first step, a lighting system 13 is placed and fixed on the support 10, - in a second step, a first electrical connector 11 is inserted into the receiving zone 101 of the support 10, - in a third step, the electrical harness 12 is placed along the guiding and holding means 105 arranged on the support 10, - in a fourth step, the electrical harness 12 is connected to the lighting system 13, - in a fifth step, the support 10 is installed in a housing 14 by translation along an axis A.
[0054] In the case where the second electrical connector 15 is integral with the housing 14, the first electrical connector 11 is then connected to the second electrical connector 15 fixed to the housing 14 during the fifth step.
[0055] In the case where the second electrical connector 15 is fixed to the vehicle, then the first electrical connector 11 is connected to the second electrical connector 15 when the lighting device 1 is mounted on the vehicle.
[0056] Such a support 10 of a lighting device 1 makes it possible to form an assembly comprising the support 10, the first electrical connector 11, the electrical harness 12 and the lighting system 13, the various components of which are fixed relative to each other. Thus, the assembly can be handled as a single unit when it is positioned in the housing 14, a positioning which simultaneously allows the first electrical connector 11 to be plugged into the second electrical connector 15. This considerably reduces the assembly time of the housing 14 and avoids any risk of incorrect positioning of one of the components such as the electrical harness 12.
[0057] Such an assembly method thus guarantees that each of the components of the lighting device 1 is held in its position as soon as it is installed; for example, it is impossible for the electrical harness 12 to leave its channel 109 and come to position itself in front of the light guide 13c after having been assembled.
[0058] Such an assembly method is, moreover, automatable, each of the components being able to be placed sequentially and positioned by simple translation.
[0059] Thus, the lighting device comprises a support whose role is to facilitate the assembly of the different components, the support positioning and holding each component. In addition, the assembly of the components on the support is facilitated by wide access, an operator being able for example to access the different parts of the support by simply handling it. Each component being held in position as soon as it is assembled, the operator does not have to hold it during the assembly of a second component and once finished the assembly of the lighting device is guaranteed.
[0060] It should be noted that this detailed description relates to a particular embodiment of the present invention, but that in no case does this description have any limiting character with respect to the subject of the invention; on the contrary, its objective is to remove any possible imprecision or any misinterpretation of the claims which follow.
[0061] It should also be noted that the reference signs placed in parentheses in the following claims are in no way limiting; these signs have the sole purpose of improving the intelligibility and understanding of the following claims as well as the scope of the protection sought.
