Air outlet devices

Abstract

An air outlet device 100 for a vehicle cabin ventilation system comprises an airflow duct 105 defined between a device inlet 104 and a device outlet 106. The device includes a flow guide 110 and a shutter arrangement. The flow guide has an upstream end 117 and a downstream end 118 and separates the airflow duct into a first (e.g. upper or left) airflow path 113 and a second (e.g. lower or right) airflow path 115. The shutter arrangement includes at least one shutter element 111 to selectively occlude the device inlet and so control airflow therefrom when the shutter arrangement is rotated about an axis orthogonal to the direction of airflow 107. Ideally the flow guide and shutter arrangement rotate about the same orthogonal axis. The shutter arrangement ideally comprises a barrel member (411, figure 4) coupled to the flow guide and having a plurality of vanes (340, figure 5A) pivotally coupled thereto so that a user may manually adjust the position of the flow guide to alter the position of the barrel member and / or the vanes to control a direction of airflow from the device (660, figure 6a and 662, figure 6b).
