Method of assessing status of a storage organ

Abstract

A computer implemented method of determining a condition indicative of sprouting of a storage organ 100 (such as a potato, carrot, onion or other root vegetable or geophyte), the method comprising; receiving first data indicative of an electrical signal from the storage organ; processing 110 the first data to determine a characteristic of the electrical signal; and determining a condition indicative of sprouting of the storage organ based on the characteristic. The characteristic of the signal may be spikes in electrical potential difference or voltage measured across the organ, wherein a predetermined number of spikes within a predetermined time period indicate sprouting of the organ or vegetable.
