Abstract

Disclosed Is a method for creating a n-axis equilateral simplex grid by selecting n constituent elements where n is the number of vertices in the simplex, generating a percent grid (p-Grid) graduated with 0-100 equal divisions on each axis representing fractions of selected elements at the vertices, defining the accuracy of the grid using an iterative step, and creating quantized pockets representing proportional percent fractions of each element within the p-Grid . Also disclosed a creating a "d-Grid" which displays the densities of the constituent elements of the system at its vertices and on which points eclipse those of the p-Grid. The method may involve transforming the data points into an exhaustive Phantom database which contains all potential alloys of the constituent elements of the system. The method may favour involve analysing and characterizing alloys using the simplex grid, p-Grid, d-Grid, and e-Phantom database and discovering novel alloys in unexplored regions of the e-Phantom database.
