Test method and apparatus

Abstract

An electrical tester 102 validates a device 103 by applying a voltage across it when processor or processors 108 receives instructions from a piece of user equipment 101. The device 101 is configured to be used as a remote control, allowing the operator to provide or interrupt the potential difference at will. The computer 108 maintains contact with the controller 101 through a wireless connection 111 between transceivers 105 and 107. If the link 111 breaks, the processor 108 disconnects the power to the apparatus 103 being examined. The remote 101 may have a touch screen 104 for activating or deactiviating the signal 111. This may require multiple user operations, including touching predetermined areas of the screen 104 or swiping in specific patterns, to reduce the likelihood of accidentally turning on the voltage provider 109.
