A formulation and an article

Abstract

A formulation comprises a mixture of dyes composed of Solvent Yellow 82 (Dye A), Acid Violet 66 (Dye B), and Solvent Black 27 (Dye C). Preferably, the formulation is a coating, such as a lacquer. The formulation may also contain 50-99.5 wt.% solvent, e.g. water, butyl glycol, or 4-hydroxy-4-methylpenta-2-one and 0.1-10.0 wt.% dispersant, e.g. docusate sodium and docusate calcium. The mixture of dyes may be present in an amount of 0.01-5.0 wt.%. An article comprising a substrate and the formulation is further disclosed. Typically, the formulation is coated onto an exterior surface of the substrate. The substrate may be a metal or alloy, such as brass or stainless steel. The article may comprise a base layer, e.g. copper and a top layer, e.g. a gloss or matt lacquer. The substrate may be a tap, shower, or other bathroom fixture or accessory.
