COMPOSITION OF LIPSTICK WITH THE ADDITION OF LIGNIN FROM SUGAR CANE BAGASSE WASTE

Abstract

This invention relates to the composition of materials, manufacturing method, and natural lipstick products added with lignin from sugarcane bagasse waste as an ultraviolet (UV) protective agent and antioxidant. The composition of materials according to this invention consists of an anhydrous oil-wax based lipstick base (red iron oxide, mica, white wax, candelilla wax, carnauba wax, isopropyl myristate, and castor oil) combined with sugarcane bagasse lignin at a content of 0% as a comparison (F0), 2.5% (F1), and 5% (F2). The product is made through alkaline extraction of lignin from sugarcane bagasse, followed by melting mixing with the lipstick base and molding. The lipstick products according to this invention in formulas F1 and F2 are homogeneous, have a pH of 5.0 5.5 which is suitable for the skin of the lips, good organoleptic properties and spreadability, and do not cause significant irritation to the skin.The use of sugarcane bagasse lignin in lipstick formulation can increase the added value of agro-industrial waste while providing bioactive UV protection and antioxidant functions in lip cosmetic products.
