Abstract

The present article is a lens cap to be attached to a flower-shaped lens hood (a hood for a lens barrel having alternating long and short petal-shaped portions), and has four engaging claws at the top, bottom, left and right as viewed from the front. When a pair of push buttons on the left and right as viewed from the rear, which are provided on the back of the claws, are pressed, they move in unison toward the center of the cap, as shown in the front view showing the claws being moved. The flower-shaped lens hood has two petal-shaped portions, each of which has a long, thin protrusion (hereinafter referred to as a "protrusion") at the tip of the petal that is longer in the axial direction. As shown in the reference perspective view of the present article attached to the lens hood and the reference perspective view explaining the manner in which the present article is attached to the lens hood, such protrusion engages with the claws of the present article to fix them together (the lens hood is fixed by sandwiching it between the claws and the inner wall of the lens cap). By making the distance between the four claws shorter than the circumferential length of the protrusions, at least two claws will engage with the left and right ends of each of the protrusions, ensuring that the lens cap is stably fixed, as shown by the red arrows in the reference oblique view illustrating how the article of the present application is attached to a lens hood.
