This shirt is classified as a turtleneck, different from band collars, stand collars, and high necks. The wide collar, gently folded over and fastened, creates a soft impression. Unlike band collars, stand collars, and high necks, it can be made softer, resulting in a very pleasant feel against the skin. Turtlenecks are typically made with stretchy knits and cut-and-sewn fabrics without an opening. However, this shirt can be made with less stretchy fabrics by adding an opening, making it possible to create a turtleneck-classified collar. The advantages of a turtleneck shirt include the following: While knits and cut-and-sewn fabrics are not suitable for formal or business settings, shirts can be worn comfortably in both formal and business settings.
