Abstract

This image displays the control screen for a ship's dynamic positioning system (DPS). It includes a display of the ship's position (top of the image), a display of the ship's speed (bottom left of the image), and a display of the joystick input used to control the ship (bottom right of the image). As shown in "Reference Image 1 for Explaining Each Part," the ship's position is displayed inside the central circle, which includes a display of the target ship's position and attitude (the ship's outline), a display of the current ship's position and attitude (a diagram of the ship), and a grid of lines (distance grid display) centered on the ship's target position. The circular frame includes a scale with evenly spaced divisions, the letters N, E, S, and W indicating the directions of north, south, east, and west, respectively, and a display showing the current target heading. The direction display (the scale and the letters N, E, S, and W) within the circular frame rotates in accordance with the current target heading. A grid scale display showing the spacing of the grid lines is displayed in the lower right corner of the central circle. To the left of the central circle, numerical displays are displayed showing the target's latitude (Lat.), longitude (Lon.), and heading (HDG). To the right of the central circle, the fore-aft position difference (Surge), lateral position difference (Sway), and heading difference (HDG) are displayed, indicating the difference between the current (actual) vessel's position and attitude and the target vessel's position and attitude. The vessel's XY speed vector display shows the direction of the needle indicating the speed in the X and Y directions, and the length of the needle indicates the magnitude of the speed. The turning speed display shows the vessel's bow direction a specified time from now.
