Abstract
Description
[Technical field]
[0001] The present disclosure relates to an ink composition for textile printing. [Background technology]
[0002] Conventionally, screen printing and roller printing methods have been widely used for printing on fabrics such as cotton, silk, and polyester. These printing methods require the preparation of a screen frame or engraved roller for each design, making them unsuitable for printing in small quantities. In addition, the need to wash off paste and other materials results in the discharge of large amounts of wastewater, which increases the environmental impact. In contrast, inkjet printing does not require platemaking work such as screen frames and engraved rollers, and patterns and colors can be changed simply by changing the digital data, making it suitable for small quantities of a wide variety of products, and it has come to be widely used in recent years because it can also significantly reduce the discharge of wastewater.
[0003] Inkjet inks containing a pigment and a resin have been used in inkjet printing methods. For example, Patent Document 1 discloses a pigment printing ink composition containing resin particles, water, and an organic solvent, and describes that the resin particles have a glass transition temperature of 5° C. or lower, are contained in an amount of 6.5 mass % or more based on the total amount of the ink composition, and have a film elongation of 400% or more and 600% or less, and a film strength of 50 MPa or more. [0004] [Patent Document 1] JP 2020-104362 A Summary of the Invention
[0005] A textile printing ink composition according to one aspect of the present disclosure includes a resin, a pigment, an aqueous medium, and an organic solvent, and the resin includes a first resin having an elongation of 500% or more and 750% or less and a tensile strength of 25 MPa or more and 40 MPa or less, and a second resin having an elongation of 250% or more and 550% or less and a tensile strength of 55 MPa or more and 90 MPa or less. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS
[0006] The invention described in Patent Document 1 as described above claims that by containing the above-mentioned resin particles in a textile printing ink composition, the ink composition can form an image that has good followability to the expansion and contraction of the fabric and is excellent in abrasion resistance, etc.
[0007] However, in the case of inkjet recording used for textile printing, it is required not only to improve tracking ability but also to improve friction fastness, and further to suppress stiffness of the fabric to be printed and improve texture such as touch, etc. In this regard, there is a risk that sufficient friction fastness and texture cannot be obtained in a printed item on which an image is formed with the ink composition by simply using resin particles having a predetermined film elongation and film strength as described above.
[0008] Hereinafter, embodiments of the present disclosure will be described in detail, but the present disclosure is not limited to these.
[0009] [Textile printing ink composition] A textile printing ink composition according to an embodiment of the present disclosure (hereinafter, sometimes simply referred to as "ink composition") contains a resin, a pigment, an aqueous medium, and an organic solvent. The resin contains a first resin having an elongation of 500% or more and 750% or less and a tensile strength of 25 MPa or more and 40 MPa or less, and a second resin having an elongation of 250% or more and 550% or less and a tensile strength of 55 MPa or more and 90 MPa or less. By using such an ink composition, a printed item having excellent dry rub fastness and wet rub fastness can be obtained, and further, the texture of the fabric to be printed is improved.
[0010] (resin) The resin of this embodiment has at least two kinds of resins. The first resin has an elongation of 500% or more and 750% or less and a tensile strength of 25 MPa or more and 40 MPa or less. The second resin has an elongation of 250% or more and 550% or less and a tensile strength of 55 MPa or more and 90 MPa or less.
[0011] It is believed that by combining a first resin having a large elongation and a relatively low tensile strength with a second resin having a relatively small elongation and a high tensile strength in this manner, it is possible to achieve both abrasion fastness and texture in the resulting printed material.
[0012] In this embodiment, the terms "elongation" and "tensile strength" refer to values measured by the measurement methods shown in the examples described later.
[0013] The first resin more preferably has an elongation of 600% or more and 700% or less, and a tensile strength of 35 MPa or more and 40 MPa or less.
[0014] The first resin can be any resin having the above-mentioned elongation and tensile strength, but it is preferable to use one supplied in the form of an aqueous emulsion. Considering the ease of preparation of the ink by blending with the pigment, solvent, and water, and the need to disperse the resin as uniformly as possible in the ink, it is preferable to add the resin to the ink in the form of a resin emulsion in which the resin is stably dispersed in water as a dispersion medium.
[0015] Examples of water-dispersible resins that can be used in this embodiment include polyurethane resins, styrene-acrylic resins, silicone resins, polyester resins, acrylic resins, etc. Also usable are copolymers of two or more of the above resins, such as styrene-acrylic resin-polyester resin copolymers and styrene-acrylic resin-urethane resin copolymers.
[0016] The resin may have a reactive functional group or may be a polymer containing a crosslinking agent, which is believed to increase the molecular weight or cause a curing reaction due to crosslinking and strong bonding with the fabric when transferred to the fabric, resulting in better adhesion.
[0017] Furthermore, if the amount of fixing resin added is increased in order to improve the adhesion stability of the ink to the fabric, the flexibility of the fabric to which the image is transferred may decrease, resulting in a stiff texture and deterioration of the feel, so it is more preferable to use a resin with a molecular structure that maintains flexibility even after curing, such as a urethane resin.
[0018] Specific examples of the urethane resin include, but are not limited to, polyurethane resins obtained by reacting polyol with polyisocyanate. More specifically, for example, polymers formed by urethane bonds between polyols such as polypropylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, polytetramethylene glycol, poly(ethylene adipate), poly(diethylene adipate), poly(propylene adipate), poly(tetramethylene adipate), poly(hexamethylene adipate), poly-ε-caprolactone, poly(hexamethylene carbonate), and silicone polyols and isocyanates such as tolylene diisocyanate, 4,4-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, xylylene diisocyanate, naphthalene diisocyanate, hexamethylene diisocyanate, hydrogenated tolylene diisocyanate, hydrogenated 4,4-diphenylmethane diisocyanate, isophorone diisocyanate, and tetramethylxylylene diisocyanate, or block copolymers, random copolymers, graft copolymers, and the like thereof can be used.
[0019] The styrene-acrylic resin may be one or more selected from styrene-(meth)acrylic acid copolymer and styrene-(meth)acrylic acid-(meth)acrylic acid ester copolymer. The (meth)acrylic acid ester may be benzyl (meth)acrylate, cyclohexyl (meth)acrylate, methyl (meth)acrylate, ethyl (meth)acrylate, propyl (meth)acrylate, butyl (meth)acrylate, hexyl (meth)acrylate, octyl (meth)acrylate, lauryl (meth)acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl (meth)acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl carbitol (meth)acrylate, phenol EO modified (meth)acrylate, isobornyl (meth)acrylate, dicyclopentenyl (meth)acrylate, dicyclopentanyl (meth)acrylate, dicyclopentenyloxyethyl (meth)acrylate, etc. may be used.
[0020] As the silicone resin, modified silicone oils of the side chain type, one end type, both ends type, and both ends type of side chain can be used.
[0021] Examples of the polyester resin include a polymer formed by an ester bond between a divalent carboxylic acid such as terephthalic acid, isophthalic acid, orthophthalic acid, 2,6-naphthalenedicarboxylic acid, sodium sulfoisophthalate, succinic acid, adipic acid, azelaic acid, sebacic acid, 1,10-decanedicarboxylic acid, or dimer acid, a trivalent or higher polyvalent carboxylic acid such as trimellitic acid or pyrrolimetic acid, and a dihydric alcohol such as ethylene glycol, 1,2-propylene glycol, 1,3-propylene glycol, 1,4-butanediol, 1,5-pentanediol, 1,6-hexanediol, 1,9-nonanediol, neopentyl glycol, 3-methyl-1,5-pentanediol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, polytetraethylene glycol, 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol, or an ethylene oxide adduct of bisphenol A, a trivalent or higher polyhydric alcohol such as trimethylolpropane or pentaerythritol, or a block copolymer, random copolymer, or graft copolymer thereof.
[0022] The second resin more preferably has an elongation of 250% or more and 300% or less, and a tensile strength of 60 MPa or more and 90 MPa or less.
[0023] The second resin can be any resin having the elongation and tensile strength as described above, without any particular limitation. Specifically, the various resins listed above as the first resin can be used.
[0024] The first resin and the second resin may be the same type of resin or different types of resin. When the first resin and the second resin are the same type of resin, the compatibility between the resins can be increased, and a uniform coating film can be obtained.
[0025] In the resins contained in the ink composition of this embodiment, the weight ratio of the first resin to the second resin (second resin / first resin) is preferably about 0.6 to 1.7. This makes it possible to achieve both abrasion fastness and texture, and is considered to be particularly excellent in dry abrasion fastness. The weight ratio is more preferably in the range of 0.8 to 1.2.
[0026] In addition, as long as the resin of the present embodiment contains the first resin and the second resin, it may contain another resin in addition to the first resin and the second resin, as long as the effects of the present disclosure are not impaired.
[0027] The content of the resin (the first resin and the second resin in total) in the ink composition of this embodiment is preferably 6% by mass or more with respect to the entire ink composition from the viewpoint of obtaining high friction fastness, and 9% by mass or less with respect to improving texture, and more preferably 7% by mass or more and 8% by mass or less.
[0028] (Pigments) The pigment to be blended in the ink composition of this embodiment may be, for example, a dispersible pigment that is dispersed in water. From the viewpoint of obtaining an ink having excellent image density, hue, and color stability, the volume median diameter (D50 ) is preferably 30 nm or more and 250 nm or less, and more preferably 70 nm or more and 160 nm or less.
[0029] In this specification, the volume median diameter (D 50 ) is a median diameter measured using a laser diffraction / scattering particle size distribution measuring device (LA-950, manufactured by Horiba, Ltd.).
[0030] As the pigment of the present embodiment, conventionally known organic and inorganic pigments can be used. For example, azo pigments such as azo lake, insoluble azo pigment, condensed azo pigment, and chelate azo pigment, polycyclic pigments such as phthalocyanine pigment, perylene and perylene pigment, anthraquinone pigment, quinacridone pigment, dioxandine pigment, thioindigo pigment, isoindolinone pigment, and quinophthaloni pigment, dye lakes such as basic dye lake and acid dye lake, organic pigments such as nitro pigment, nitroso pigment, aniline black, and daylight fluorescent pigment, and inorganic pigments such as carbon black can be mentioned.

[0032] Examples of pigments for orange or yellow include CI Pigment Orange 31, CI Pigment Orange 43, CI Pigment Yellow 12, CI Pigment Yellow 13, CI Pigment Yellow 14, CI Pigment Yellow 15, CI Pigment Yellow 17, CI Pigment Yellow 74, CI Pigment Yellow 93, CI Pigment Yellow 94, CI Pigment Yellow 128, and CI Pigment Yellow 138.
[0033] Pigments for green or cyan include CI Pigment Blue 15, CI Pigment Blue 15:2, CI Pigment Blue 15:3, CI Pigment Blue 16, CI Pigment Blue 60, CI Pigment Green 7, and the like.
[0034] The pigment content of this embodiment is preferably 1% by mass or more and 12% by mass or less, more preferably 1% by mass or more and 7% by mass or less, based on the weight of the entire ink composition. By making the pigment content 1% by mass or more, the image density of the recorded matter formed can be improved. In addition, by making the pigment content 12% by mass or less, an ink with high fluidity can be obtained.
[0035] Furthermore, the ink composition of the present embodiment preferably contains an anionic pigment. This causes an electrical reaction and aggregation between the cationic polymer and the anionic pigment contained in the treatment liquid used for printing together with the ink composition on the surface of the recording target, thereby suppressing the resin contained in the ink from penetrating into the printed material. In other words, it is possible to prevent the resin from penetrating into the gaps between fibers and bonding the fibers together, thereby improving the texture (feel, etc.) of the fabric to be printed.
[0036] In this embodiment, the pigment is preferably dispersed in a dispersion liquid containing a pigment dispersion resin and used as a pigment dispersion liquid.
[0037] Examples of pigment dispersion resins that can be used in this embodiment include alkali-soluble resins such as styrene-acrylic acid copolymers, styrene-acrylic acid-acrylic acid alkyl ester copolymers, styrene-maleic acid copolymers, styrene-maleic acid-acrylic acid alkyl ester copolymers, styrene-methacrylic acid copolymers, styrene-methacrylic acid-acrylic acid alkyl ester copolymers, styrene-maleic acid half ester copolymers, vinylnaphthalene-acrylic acid copolymers, vinylnaphthalene-maleic acid copolymers, etc. These may be used alone or in combination of two or more, as necessary.
[0038] (aqueous medium) The aqueous medium contained in the ink composition of this embodiment is a medium containing water as a main component. The aqueous medium may function as a solvent or as a dispersion medium. Specific examples of the aqueous medium include water and a mixture of water and a polar solvent. Examples of the polar solvent contained in the aqueous medium include methanol, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, butanol, and methyl ethyl ketone.
[0039] (Organic solvent) The organic solvent contained in the ink composition of this embodiment is not particularly limited, but examples thereof include polyols and glycol ethers.
[0040] In particular, it is preferable that the ink composition contains a polyol, since the viscosity of the ink can be suitably adjusted. The polyol contained in the ink composition is preferably a diol or a triol. Examples of diols include glycol compounds, more specifically, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol, diethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, and tetraethylene glycol. Examples of triols include glycerin.
[0041] (Additives and manufacturing methods) The ink composition according to this embodiment may contain a surfactant in addition to the above-mentioned essential components (resin, pigment, aqueous medium, organic solvent). Preferred examples of the surfactant include acetylene glycol-based surfactants and silicone-based surfactants.
[0042] The content of the surfactant in the ink composition is usually preferably about 0.01 to 3.0% by mass, and more preferably 0.1 to 1.0% by mass, based on the total mass of the ink composition.
[0043] Furthermore, the ink composition of this embodiment may further contain known additives (more specifically, a dissolution stabilizer, a drying inhibitor, an antioxidant, a viscosity adjuster, a pH adjuster, an anti-mold agent, etc.) as necessary.
[0044] When the ink composition contains a pH adjuster, the pH adjuster is not particularly limited, and examples thereof include sodium hydroxide, triethanolamine, dimethylaminoethanol, etc. By containing a pH adjuster in the ink composition, it becomes possible to adjust the pH of the ink composition to a desired value.
[0045] The content of the pH adjuster in the ink composition of the present disclosure is preferably 0.01% by mass or more and 1% by mass or less, and more preferably 0.05% by mass or more and 0.2% by mass or less. However, the content of the pH adjuster is not limited to the above range, and may be appropriately adjusted depending on, for example, the desired pH of the ink composition.
[0046] The ink composition used in this embodiment is produced by, for example, using a stirrer to mix the resin, pigment, aqueous medium, organic solvent, and optional components (for example, surfactants, etc.). The mixing time is, for example, 1 minute or more and 30 minutes or less. After mixing, the mixture is centrifuged to remove coarse particles such as foreign matter and dust, and filtered to remove fine particles, thereby obtaining the ink composition of this embodiment.
[0047] The ink composition according to this embodiment obtained in this manner has ink physical properties adjusted for inkjet printing, and is therefore particularly suitable for use in inkjet textile printing. However, it can also be used in textile printing machines other than inkjet textile printing. EXAMPLES
[0048] The present disclosure will be described in more detail below with reference to examples, but the present disclosure is not limited to these examples in any way.
[0049] Example 1 (Preparation of Pigment Dispersion) A stirrer, a nitrogen inlet tube, a condenser (agitator), and a dropping funnel were set in a 1000 mL four-neck flask. Then, 100 g of isopropyl alcohol and 300 g of methyl ethyl ketone were placed in the flask. The contents of the flask were heated to reflux at a temperature of 70° C. while bubbling with nitrogen gas.
[0050] Also, 40g of styrene (ST), 10g of methacrylic acid (MAA), 10g of butyl acrylate (BA), 40g of methyl methacrylate (MMA), and 0.4g of azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) were mixed together to obtain a solution. The obtained solution was then placed in a dropping funnel. The solution in the dropping funnel was then dropped over 2 hours into the flask contents being heated and refluxed. After the dropping was completed, the flask contents were further heated and refluxed for 6 hours.
[0051] Next, 50 ml of methyl ethyl ketone containing 0.2 g of AIBN was added dropwise to the flask over a period of 15 minutes. After the addition was completed, the contents of the flask were heated under reflux for an additional 5 hours. As a result, a styrene-acrylic acid resin with a mass average molecular weight (Mw) of 20,000 and an acid value of 100 mgKOH / g was obtained.
[0052] In a 0.6 L vessel of a media type disperser (DYNO (registered trademark)-MILL manufactured by Willy & Bachofen (WAB)), 15 parts by mass of a cyan pigment (Leonol (registered trademark) Blue FG-7330 manufactured by Toyo Color Co., Ltd., component: copper phthalocyanine, color index: pigment blue 15:3), 6 parts by mass of resin, 0.5 parts by mass of 1,2-octanediol, and 78.5 parts by mass of water (ion-exchanged water) were placed. In addition, sodium hydroxide (NaOH) in an amount necessary for neutralizing the resin was added to the vessel. The pigment content in the obtained pigment dispersion was 14.5% by mass.
[0053] In the above neutralization of the resin, an aqueous NaOH solution was added so that the pH of the vessel contents became 8. Specifically, an aqueous NaOH solution was added to the vessel in an amount of 1.1 times the neutralization equivalent. The mass of Na to be added to the vessel was calculated based on the mass of the resin. The mass of water to be added to the vessel was calculated based on the sum of the mass of water contained in the aqueous NaOH solution and the mass of water produced by the neutralization reaction.
[0054] Next, media (zirconia beads with a diameter of 0.5 mm) were filled into the vessel of the disperser so that the volume was 70% of the vessel capacity. Next, using the disperser filled with media, the contents of the vessel were kneaded for 240 minutes under conditions of a temperature of 10°C and a peripheral speed of 8 m / sec. As a result, a pigment dispersion containing a large number of pigment particles was obtained. The volume median diameter (D 50 The volume median diameter (D 50 The measurement of was performed using a dynamic light scattering particle size distribution analyzer ("Zetasizer Nano" manufactured by Sysmex Corporation) and a solution obtained by diluting the pigment dispersion 300 times with ion-exchanged water as the measurement subject.

[0075] The compositions of the ink compositions of the examples and comparative examples obtained above are summarized in Table 1.
[0076] [Table 1]
[0077] (Measurement of tensile strength and elongation) The tensile strength and elongation of each of the resins used in the examples and comparative examples were measured as follows.
[0078] First, each resin was applied onto a PET film so that the film thickness after drying was 500μm, and then dried at 25℃ and 50%RH for 12 hours. Next, it was dried at 150℃ for 20 minutes, and then peeled off from the sheet to create a resin film.
[0079] Next, the elongation of the obtained resin film was measured using a tensile tester at a measurement temperature of 20° C. and a measurement speed of 200 mm / min. The elongation was measured by stretching the resin film and measuring the length of elongation when the resin film broke, and the ratio was expressed as the elongation in percentage.
[0080] The tensile strength of the resin was obtained by measuring the tensile strength of the resin at break.
[0081] In this evaluation, a tensile tester such as "Tensilon Universal Tester RTC-1210A" manufactured by Orientec Co., Ltd. was used.
[0082] The tensile strength and elongation of each of the resins used are summarized in Table 2.
[0083] [Table 2]
[0084] <Evaluation test> The ink compositions obtained in the above Examples and Comparative Examples were subjected to the following evaluation tests.
[0085] (Texture evaluation) The evaluation was performed using an image forming apparatus (a line head-mounted inkjet recording apparatus manufactured by Kyocera Document Solutions Inc.) under an environment of 25°C and 50% RH. 2 (manufactured by Toray Industries, Inc.) was used.
[0086] A solid image of 28 cm x 3 cm was formed so that the amount of ink discharged from the recording head onto the recording medium was 35 pL (per pixel). The printed evaluation image was then dried at 160°C for 3 minutes.
[0087] The fabric and the printed image were folded in half and bent perpendicular to the lengthwise direction, and the height of the fabric was measured and recorded. The texture was evaluated according to the following criteria as an evaluation value.
[0088] Evaluation criteria: 〇: Bend height is less than 26 mm △: Bending height is 26mm~27mm ×: Bending height is 28mm or more
[0089] (Friction fastness evaluation) The evaluation was performed using an image forming apparatus (a line head-mounted inkjet recording apparatus manufactured by Kyocera Document Solutions Inc.) under an environment of 25°C and 50% RH. 2 (manufactured by Toray Industries, Inc.) was used.
[0090] A solid image of 28 cm x 3 cm was formed so that the amount of ink discharged from the recording head onto the recording medium was 35 pL (per pixel). The printed evaluation image was then dried at 160°C for 3 minutes.
[0091] Thereafter, the printed matter was evaluated according to the dry test and wet test using the friction tester type II (Gakushin type) method described in JIS L-0849:2013 (Test method for color fastness to friction).
[0092] The friction cloth used was cotton cloth (Kanakin No. 3), and friction was performed using a friction tester (product name: RT-200, manufactured by Daiei Scientific Instruments Co., Ltd.). After friction, three areas of the cotton cloth that had been color-transferred were visually judged to have the highest color transfer density, and the color was measured using a colorimeter (product name: portable reflection densitometer RD-19, manufactured by GretagMacbeth Co., Ltd.), and the degree of color transfer, i.e., friction fastness, was evaluated using the average optical density (cyan). In this test, a product was judged to be usable if it was rated C or higher for dry friction fastness and E or higher for wet friction fastness.
[0093] Evaluation criteria: A: The optical density (cyan) of the color transfer on cotton fabric after rubbing is less than 0.15 B: The optical density (cyan) of the color transfer on cotton fabric after rubbing is 0.15 or more and less than 0.20 C: Optical density (cyan) of color transfer on cotton fabric after rubbing is 0.20 or more and less than 0.25 D: The optical density (cyan) of the color transfer on cotton fabric after rubbing is 0.25 or more and less than 0.30 E: The optical density (cyan) of the color transfer on cotton fabric after rubbing is 0.30 or more and less than 0.35. F: The optical density (cyan) of the color transfer on cotton fabric after rubbing is 0.35 or more.
[0094] The results of the above evaluation tests are summarized in Table 3.
[0095] [Table 3]
[0096] (Consideration) From the results in Table 3, it was confirmed that by using the ink composition of the present disclosure, a printed item having a good texture and excellent rub fastness can be obtained. In particular, from a comparison between Examples 5-6 and Examples 8-9, it was found that if the ratio of the second resin / the first resin is 0.6 or more, the dry rub fastness is excellent. It was also found that if the resin ratio is 1.7 or less, the dry rub fastness is excellent.
[0097] Furthermore, a comparison of Examples 10-11 and Examples 12-13 revealed that the dry rub fastness was superior when the content of the resin was 6% by mass or more relative to the entire ink composition, and the texture was superior when the content of the resin was 9% by mass or less relative to the entire ink composition.
[0098] On the other hand, when the ink compositions of Comparative Examples 1 to 7 in which at least one of the first resin and the second resin contained in the resin did not satisfy the requirements of the present invention were used, at least one of the evaluation tests of texture, dry rub fastness, and wet rub fastness did not meet the pass level.
