[0015] (Detailed Description) Section headings are used herein for ease of understanding only and do not limit the scope of the embodiments to the section they are described in. Additionally, although the embodiments are described with reference to 5G examples, the disclosed techniques may be applied to wireless systems using protocols other than 5G or 3GPP protocols.

[0016] The development of a new generation of wireless communication, namely 5G New Radio (NR) communication, is part of the continuous mobile broadband evolution process to meet the requirements of increasing network demand. NR will provide higher throughput to allow more users to be connected simultaneously. Other aspects such as energy consumption, device cost, spectrum efficiency, and latency are also important to meet the needs of various communication scenarios.

[0017] In order to improve reception reliability for UEs receiving Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) services, Hybrid Automatic Repeat Request Acknowledgement (HARQ-ACK) feedback is proposed for MBMS services in 5G networks.

[0018] For MBMS services received by multiple UEs simultaneously, UE feedback can be used to construct a HARQ-ACK codebook in multiple ways. In some cases, a UE may receive unicast and MBMS services simultaneously. In these cases, how the UE constructs a HARQ-ACK codebook may be undetermined. Furthermore, how the UE determines the uplink control channel resources used by the HARQ-ACK codebook containing the HARQ-ACK of an MBMS service may be undetermined. In particular, when the HARQ-ACKs of unicast and multicast services are multiplexed in one HARQ-ACK codebook may be undetermined.

[0019] The present embodiment relates to determining a PUCCH resource for a HARQ-ACK codebook of an MBMS service. The present embodiment may provide a flexible solution for determining a PUCCH resource for a HARQ-ACK codebook of an MBMS service.

[0020] 1 is an example signaling process 100 for generating a final codebook based on unicast service and MBMS service information. In step 106, a network node (e.g., NW 104) can send a first message to UE 102, the first message including unicast service information and MBMS service information.

[0021] In step 108, the UE 102 may generate a first codebook based on the unicast service information and a second codebook based on the MBMS service information.

[0022] In step 110, the UE may concatenate the first codebook and the second codebook to generate a final codebook, which may be a HARQ-ACK codebook and may be transmitted on a PUCCH resource determined based on this HARQ-ACK codebook, as described herein.

[0023] In step 112, the UE 102 may transmit a second message to the NW 104. The second message may be based on a final codebook as described herein.

[0024] FIG. 2 is a block diagram 200 illustrating multiple sets of MBMS service information.

[0025] (Example embodiment 1) In many cases, for unicast services, the UE may construct a HARQ-ACK codebook. The codebook may be constructed according to a DAI value in the PDCCH for scheduling the unicast PDSCH.

[0026] Furthermore, in many cases, the parameter k1 in the PDCCH can indicate the slot position of the HARQ-ACK corresponding to the PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH. If the HARQ-ACK of the PDSCH is scheduled by multiple PDCCHs, it is indicated in the same slot for transmission. The HARQ-ACK can be constructed in the HARQ-ACK codebook according to the DAI value. The PUCCH resource can be determined for this HARQ-ACK codebook through the PRI in the last PDCCH (in the time-frequency domain) in the PDCCH corresponding to this HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0027] The MBMS service as described herein may refer to an MBMS service for providing HARQ-ACK feedback. In the exemplary embodiment 1, the unicast service may refer to a dynamically scheduled PDSCH, i.e., a DG PDSCH.

[0028] In particular, example embodiment 1 may include a UE that simultaneously receives a unicast service and an MBMS service. For the received unicast service, the UE may construct a sub-HARQ-ACK codebook by a codebook, represented as sub-codebook 1. For the received MBMS service, the UE may construct a sub-HARQ-ACK codebook, represented as sub-codebook 2. Then, sub-codebook 1 and sub-codebook 2 may be concatenated to obtain a final HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0029] The structure of the sub-codebook 2 may include one of the following options: As a first option, for an MBMS service, the HARQ-ACK codebook may be constructed according to the period of the MBMS service configuration. For example, a G-RNTI is associated with the MBMS service, i.e., when the PDCCH schedules the MBMS service (e.g., MBMS PDSCH). This PDCCH may be scrambled by the G-RNTI corresponding to the MBMS service.

[0030] For example, one transmission period is configured for one MBMS service, and one HARQ-ACK message is generated for each transmission period, regardless of whether the MBMS service is actually transmitted in this transmission period. In the case of simultaneously receiving multiple MBMS services, a sub-codebook can be constructed for each MBMS service according to the transmission period, and then these sub-codebooks are concatenated to form sub-codebook 2. The concatenation sequence may be one of the following: a sequence of MBMS service index, a sequence of G-RNTI, and / or a sequence of MBMS logical channel index.

[0031] As a second option, a DAI counter can be associated with each MBMS service individually, for example, when an MBMS service is transmitted, the DAI counter in the PDCCH of the MBMS service can be used as the scheduled MBMS PDSCH.

[0032] If the UE receives multiple MBMS services simultaneously, the UE may use the DAI counter of each service to build a sub-codebook for each MBMS service, respectively. These sub-codebooks may then be concatenated to form sub-codebook 2. The concatenated sequence may be one of the following: a sequence of MBMS service indexes, a sequence of G-RNTIs, and / or a sequence of MBMS logical channel indexes.

[0033] Sub-codebook 1 and sub-codebook 2 may be concatenated to obtain a final HARQ-ACK codebook. Sub-codebook 2 may be concatenated after sub-codebook 1, or vice versa.

[0034] The PUCCH resource can be determined as a formed HARQ-ACK codebook. A first solution can include that the PDCCH of the unicast service is used to determine the PUCCH resource for the final HARQ-ACK codebook containing the HARQ-ACK of the MBMS service. In this way, high flexibility can be obtained in determining the PUCCH resource.

[0035] Sub-codebook 1 of unicast services can be constructed independently. For MBMS PDSCHs with end or start positions before at least Q point, the UE can construct sub-codebook 2 for them according to the above options. Then, the UE can concatenate sub-codebook 1 and sub-codebook 2 to obtain a final HARQ-ACK codebook. The PUCCH resource for the final HARQ-ACK codebook can be determined to be the last PDCCH in the time-frequency domain in the PDCCH corresponding to sub-codebook 1.

[0036] In some embodiments, sub-codebook 1 of unicast services can be constructed independently. For MBMS PDSCHs with end or start positions before at least Q point and without HARQ-ACK feedback, the UE can construct sub-codebook 2 for them according to the above options.

[0037] In some embodiments, sub-codebook 1 of unicast service is constructed independently. For MBMS PDSCHs (scheduled by PDCCH of MBMS service) with end or start positions by at least Q point, UE can construct sub-codebook 2 for them according to above options. Then, UE can concatenate sub-codebook 1 and sub-codebook 2 to obtain a final HARQ-ACK codebook. The PUCCH resource for the final HARQ-ACK codebook can be determined to be the last PDCCH in the PDCCH in the time-frequency domain corresponding to sub-codebook 1.

[0038] In some embodiments, sub-codebook 1 of unicast services is constructed independently. For MBMS PDSCHs with end or start positions by at least Q point and without HARQ-ACK feedback, the UE may construct sub-codebook 2 for them according to the above options. Then, the UE may concatenate sub-codebook 1 and sub-codebook 2 to obtain a final HARQ-ACK codebook. The PUCCH resource for the final HARQ-ACK codebook may be determined to be the last PDCCH (in the time-frequency domain) in the PDCCH corresponding to sub-codebook 1.

[0039] The definition of the Q point may include one of the following:

[0040] 1) The starting position of the last PDCCH in the PDCCH corresponding to sub-codebook 1 in the time domain.

[0041] 2) The end position of the last PDCCH in the PDCCH corresponding to sub-codebook 1 in the time domain.

[0042] 3) The starting position of the last PDSCH in the PDSCH corresponding to sub-codebook 1 in the time domain.

[0043] 4) The end position of the last PDSCH in the PDSCH corresponding to sub-codebook 1 in the time domain.

[0044] In some embodiments, for a HARQ-ACK codebook, if it contains a HARQ-ACK for a unicast service and a HARQ-ACK for a multicast service, the UE may determine the PUCCH resource for the HARQ-ACK codebook according to the PRI in the last PDCCH (in the time-frequency domain) in the PDCCH corresponding to the HARQ-ACK of the unicast service in the HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0045] When constructing a HARQ-ACK codebook including a HARQ-ACK for a unicast service and a HARQ-ACK for an MBMS service, when generating a final codebook including the first codebook and the second codebook, k1 or PRI in the PDCCH of the unicast service may be valid at all times, and k1 or PRI in the PDCCH of the multicast service may be invalid at all times. Alternatively, when generating a final codebook including the first codebook and the second codebook, k1 or PRI in the PDCCH of the unicast service may overwrite k1 or PRI in the PDCCH of the multicast service at all times.

[0046] It may be an existing technique to determine the PUCCH resource according to the last PDCCH (in the time-frequency domain) corresponding to sub-codebook 1. First, this may include checking that the last monitoring occasion (MO) is in the time domain according to the MO time sequence, and if there are multiple carriers in the last MO, the last carrier in the frequency domain can be determined according to the carrier index (from smallest to largest). If there are multiple PDCCHs corresponding to the last carrier in the last MO, the last PDCCH can be determined according to the start time sequence of the PDSCHs corresponding to the multiple PDCCHs.

[0047] Here, the MBMS PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH of the MBMS service may also not have any corresponding PDCCH, i.e., the MBMS PDSCH may be transmitted semi-statically without a corresponding PDCCH.

[0048] The last PDCCH used to determine the PUCCH resource may be the last PDCCH of the unicast service sub-codebook 1, which may not be the last PDCCH corresponding to the final HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0049] In many cases, any unicast service HARQ-ACK and MBMS service HARQ-ACK may not be multiplexed in one HARQ-ACK codebook. In many cases, the PUCCH resource of the HARQ-ACK codebook can be determined according to the PRI in the last PDCCH (in the time-frequency domain) in the PDCCH corresponding to the HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0050] In this embodiment, the PUCCH resource may be based on the PRI in the last PDCCH (in the time-frequency domain) in the PDCCH corresponding to the HARQ-ACK of the unicast service in a HARQ-ACK codebook that contains the HARQ-ACK of the unicast service and the HARQ-ACK of the MBMS service.

[0051] If the PUCCH resource of the HARQ-ACK codebook is determined based on the last PDCCH, and this last PDCCH is the PDCCH of the MBMS service, this may cause all UEs receiving the MBMS service to use the same PRI value to determine their PUCCH resources. This method may greatly reduce the flexibility of determining the PUCCH resource and increase the complexity of configuring the PUCCH resource by the base station. By adopting the method of the present application, it can be avoided that the last PDCCH is the PDDCH of the MBMS service.

[0052] (Exemplary embodiment 2) In the second exemplary embodiment, the UE can simultaneously receive the unicast service and the MBMS service. However, the unicast service may refer to a semi-static transmission PDSCH, i.e., an SPS PDSCH, herein.

[0053] For received unicast services, the UE may construct a HARQ-ACK codebook, denoted as sub-codebook 3. For received MBMS services, the UE may independently construct a HARQ-ACK codebook, denoted as sub-codebook 2. Sub-codebook 3 and sub-codebook 2 may then be concatenated to construct a final HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0054] The structure of sub-codebook 2 may be the same as that of embodiment 1. Sub-codebook 3 and sub-codebook 2 may be concatenated to obtain a final HARQ-ACK codebook. Sub-codebook 2 may be concatenated after sub-codebook 3, or vice versa.

[0055] The PUCCH resource can be determined as the HARQ-ACK codebook formed using multiple solutions. The solutions can include that for a HARQ-ACK codebook in which the HARQ-ACK of a unicast service and the HARQ-ACK of an MBMS service are mixed, the PUCCH resource can be determined to be the PUCCH resource corresponding to the last PDSCH (in the time domain) in the PDSCH of the unicast service in the HARQ-ACK codebook. In this way, determining the PUCCH resource as the HARQ-ACK codebook can be very flexible.

[0056] Sub-codebook 3 of unicast service can be constructed independently. For MBMS PDSCH with at least an end position or a start position before point T, the UE can construct sub-codebook 2 according to the above options. Then, the UE can concatenate sub-codebook 3 and sub-codebook 2 to obtain a final HARQ-ACK codebook. The PUCCH resource for the final HARQ-ACK codebook can be determined to be the PUCCH resource determined by sub-codebook 3.

[0057] Sub-codebook 3 may include a HARQ-ACK codebook that includes only HARQ-ACK for SPS PDSCH.

[0058] The second solution can also be described as the sub-codebook 3 of the unicast service can be constructed independently. For the MBMS PDSCH with the end or start position before at least point T and without HARQ-ACK feedback, the UE can construct the sub-codebook 2 according to the above options. Then, the UE can concatenate the sub-codebook 3 and the sub-codebook 2 to obtain the final HARQ-ACK codebook. The PUCCH resource for the final HARQ-ACK codebook can be determined to be the PUCCH resource determined by the sub-codebook 3.

[0059] The second solution may also include that the sub-codebook 3 of the unicast service is constructed independently. For MBMS PDSCHs with end or start positions by at least point T, the UE may construct sub-codebook 2 for them according to the above options. Then, the UE may concatenate sub-codebook 3 and sub-codebook 2 to obtain a final HARQ-ACK codebook. The PUCCH resource for the final HARQ-ACK codebook may be determined to be the PUCCH resource determined by sub-codebook 3.

[0060] The second solution may also include that the sub-codebook 3 of the unicast service is constructed independently. For the MBMS PDSCH with the end position or start position by at least point T and without HARQ-ACK feedback, the UE may construct the sub-codebook 2 according to the above option. Then, the UE may concatenate the sub-codebook 3 and the sub-codebook 2 to obtain the final HARQ-ACK codebook. The PUCCH resource for the final HARQ-ACK codebook may be determined to be the PUCCH resource determined by the sub-codebook 3.

[0061] Here, the definition of a point T may include one of the following:

[0062] 1) The starting position of the last SPS PDSCH in the time domain in the SPS PDSCH corresponding to subcode 3.

[0063] 2) The end position of the last SPS PDSCH in the time domain for the SPS PDSCH corresponding to subcode 3.

[0064] The second solution may also include that for a HARQ-ACK codebook containing a HARQ-ACK for a unicast service and a HARQ-ACK for an MBMS service, the base station and the UE may consider that the PUCCH resource for this HARQ-ACK codebook is determined to be the PUCCH resource corresponding to the last SPS PDSCH in the SPS PDSCH corresponding to the HARQ-ACK of the unicast service.

[0065] The second solution may also include that when constructing a HARQ-ACK codebook including a HARQ-ACK for a unicast service and a HARQ-ACK for an MBMS service, when generating a final codebook including the first codebook and the second codebook, k1 or PRI in an activated PDCCH corresponding to an SPS PDSCH of the unicast service may be valid at all times, and k1 or PRI in a PDCCH of a multicast service may be invalid at all times.

[0066] Here, the MBMS PDSCH scheduled by the PDCCH of an MBMS service may also not have any corresponding PDCCH, ie, the MBMS PDSCH is transmitted semi-statically without a corresponding PDCCH.

[0067] Illustrative embodiment 3 A third exemplary embodiment may solve a method for determining that a PUCCH resource is for a HARQ-ACK codebook that only involves HARQ-ACK of an MBMS service.

[0068] In the solution related to the third exemplary embodiment, the UE can always use the options mentioned in the above-mentioned exemplary embodiment 1 to construct this HARQ-ACK codebook. For example, if one or more MBMS PDSCHs of an MBMS service are indicated in the same slot by corresponding PDCCHs to carry HARQ-ACKs of the MBMS services, the HARQ-ACKs of these MBMS PDSCHs can be constructed in one HARQ-ACK codebook. The UE can use the options listed above to construct HARQ-ACK codebooks for one or more MBMS services. The PRI in the last MBMS PDCCH corresponding to this HARQ-ACK codebook can be used to determine the PUCCH resource for this HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0069] Illustrative embodiment 4 If the HARQ-ACK codebook contains more than one of sub-codebooks 1, 2, or 3 in the above embodiments 1 and 2, the UE can concatenate these sub-codebooks as follows, i.e., sub-codebook 1, sub-codebook 3, sub-codebook 2, so that the base station and the UE can understand the same. Other cascading sequences may also be considered as possibilities.

[0070] Here, sub-codebook 1 can be constructed independently according to the prior art, and sub-codebook 3 can also be constructed independently according to the prior art.

[0071] Here, for a HARQ-ACK codebook that contains at least sub-codebook 1, the base station and the UE can always assume that the PUCCH resource for this HARQ-ACK codebook is determined based on the PRI in the last PDCCH (in the time-frequency domain) in the PDCCH corresponding to sub-codebook 1.

[0072] Illustrative Embodiment 5 In the fifth exemplary embodiment, another method can be provided to solve the problem mentioned in the background art. As a fourth solution, for a HARQ-ACK codebook including the HARQ-ACK of an MBMS service, the base station can always ensure that the last PDCCH in the PDCCH corresponding to this HARQ-ACK codebook is the PDCCH of a unicast service, and use the PDCCH of the unicast service to determine the slot and PUCCH resource for the HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0073] Even when the base station does not have any downlink data transmission, the base station may transmit a PDCCH to schedule a "fake" unicast PDSCH for the UE, and this PDCCH may be the last PDCCH in the PDCCH corresponding to this HARQ-ACK codebook that includes the HARQ-ACK of the MBMS service.

[0074] The UE can receive this PDCCH, receive the "fake" PDSCH, and feed back a HARQ-ACK (because this is a "fake" PDSCH, the UE will not be able to decode it correctly, so the UE will feed back a NACK and the base station will not retransmit this "fake" PDSCH).

[0075] A fifth solution may include introducing a new downlink DCI format or setting a new parameter field in an existing DCI format to inform the UE that the untransmitted HARQ-ACK codebook may be transmitted in the slot and PUCCH resource indicated by this DCI. The original slot position and PUCCH resource for the untransmitted HARQ-ACK codebook may be discarded.

[0076] For example, the base station and the UE agree that after receiving the above DCI, the UE will determine the PUCCH resource according to the slot position and PRI indicated in the DCI to transmit the untransmitted HARQ-ACK codebook.

[0077] In other words, the base station can adjust the slot position and PUCCH resource for the HARQ-ACK codebook by constantly sending this kind of DCI.

[0084] In some embodiments, the second set of information includes information related to a plurality of MBMS services, and the terminal constructs a codebook separately for each MBMS service included in the plurality of MBMS services based on a periodicity of each MBMS configuration, and each codebook for each MBMS service is concatenated by the terminal to derive the second codebook.

[0085] In some embodiments, the second codebook is derived based on a Downlink Allocation Index (DAI) counter associated with each MBMS service separately included in the second set of information.

[0086] In some embodiments, the second set of information includes information related to a plurality of MBMS services, and the terminal constructs a codebook for each MBMS service according to a DAI counter corresponding to each MBMS service included in the plurality of MBMS services, and each codebook for each MBMS service is concatenated by the terminal to derive the second codebook.

[0095] In some embodiments, the PUCCH resource is determined based on the last PDCCH corresponding to the first codebook in the final codebook.

[0096] In some embodiments, the terminal determines the PUCCH resource according to a PUCCH resource indicator (PRI) in the last PDCCH corresponding to the HARQ-ACK of the unicast service in the final codebook.

[0097] In some embodiments, when generating a final codebook including the first codebook and the second codebook, the first k1 and / or the first PRI parameter in the PDCCH of the unicast service is valid, and the second k1 and / or the second PRI parameter in the PDCCH of the MBMS service is invalid.

[0098] In some embodiments, when generating a final codebook including the first codebook and the second codebook, the first k1 and / or the first PRI parameter in the PDCCH of the unicast service overwrites the second k1 and / or the second PRI parameter in the PDCCH of the multicast broadcast service.
