[0001] CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATIONS
[0001] This application claims the benefit of U.S. patent application Ser. No. 17 / 658,999, filed April 12, 2022, entitled "ORDERING BETWEEN PHYSICAL UPLINK CONTROL CHANNEL (PUCCH) DEFERRAL AND OTHER PHYSICAL-LAYER PROCEDURES," and U.S. Provisional Patent Application Ser. No. 63 / 174,501, filed April 13, 2021, entitled "ORDERING BETWEEN PHYSICAL UPLINK CONTROL CHANNEL (PUCCH) DEFERRAL AND OTHER PHYSICAL-LAYER PROCEDURES," the contents of which are expressly incorporated by reference in their entirety into this specification.
[0002] Aspects of the present disclosure relate generally to wireless communication systems, and more specifically, to ordering between physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) deferrals and other physical-layer procedures. introduction
[0003] Wireless communication networks are widely deployed to provide various communication services such as voice, video, packet data, messaging, broadcasts, etc. These wireless networks may be multiple-access networks capable of supporting multiple users by sharing available network resources. Such networks may be multiple-access networks that support communication for multiple users by sharing available network resources.
[0003]
[0004] A wireless communication network may include several components. These components may include wireless communication devices such as base stations (or Node Bs) that may support communication for several user equipments (UEs). The UEs may communicate with the base stations via a downlink and an uplink. The downlink (or forward link) refers to the communication link from the base station to the UE, and the uplink (or reverse link) refers to the communication link from the UE to the base station.
[0004]
[0005] A base station may transmit data and control information to a UE on the downlink or receive data and control information from a UE on the uplink. On the downlink, a transmission from a base station may encounter interference from transmissions from neighboring base stations or other wireless radio frequency (RF) transmitters. On the uplink, a transmission from a UE may encounter interference from uplink transmissions of other UEs communicating with neighboring base stations or other wireless RF transmitters. This interference may degrade performance on both the downlink and the uplink.
[0005]
[0006] As the demand for mobile broadband access continues to increase, the potential for interference and congested networks increases as more UEs access long-range wireless communication networks and more short-range wireless systems are deployed within communities. Research and development continues to advance wireless technologies not only to meet the growing demand for mobile broadband access, but also to improve and enhance the user experience of mobile communications. [0021]
[0031] Like reference numbers and designations in the various drawings indicate like elements.
[0022]
[0032] The detailed description of the present invention described below in conjunction with the accompanying drawings is intended to illustrate various exemplary configurations and is not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure. Rather, the detailed description of the present invention includes specific details for the purpose of providing a thorough understanding of the subject matter of the present invention. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that these specific details are not required in every instance, and in some cases, well-known structures and components are shown in block diagram form for clarity of explanation.
[0023]
[0033] Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques that provide mechanisms for managing an order for performing a deferral procedure and at least one other slot index dependent procedure in a wireless communication system. In particular, in aspects of the present disclosure, a user equipment (UE) may be configured or scheduled to transmit several physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) repetitions (e.g., multiple PUCCH repetitions) to a base station. The UE may also determine to perform a first slot index dependent procedure (e.g., a procedure that may be based at least in part on a location (e.g., index) of a resource associated with the first PUCCH repetition of the PUCCH repetitions). For example, the UE may be scheduled to transmit a PUCCH repetition starting from an original first slot. In this example, the first slot index dependent procedure may be based on or at least in part depends on a slot index (e.g., original first slot) in which the first PUCCH repetition is scheduled to be transmitted. Furthermore, the UE may determine to perform a deferral procedure for the PUCCH repetition. In aspects, performing a deferral procedure on a PUCCH repetition may include deferring transmission of the first PUCCH repetition to a later slot (e.g., a slot occurring after the original first slot). According to aspects of the present disclosure, the UE can determine an order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure and then perform the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure in that order. In aspects, the order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure may include performing the deferral procedure before the first slot index dependent procedure, performing the deferral procedure after the first slot index dependent procedure, or determining what type of procedure the first slot index dependent procedure is and ordering the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure based on the procedure type of the first slot index dependent procedure. In some aspects, the UE can transmit the PUCCH repetition to the base station based on having performed the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure in order. In this manner, a system implemented in accordance with the present disclosure may address a problem in current wireless communication systems by providing a mechanism for managing the order for performing the deferral procedure and the at least one other slot index dependent procedure, such that the at least one other slot index dependent procedure can determine whether to use the original first slot or the deferred first slot.
[0024]
[0034] The present disclosure generally relates to providing or participating in authorized shared access between two or more wireless devices in one or more wireless communication systems, also referred to as wireless communication networks. In various implementations, the techniques and apparatus may be used for wireless communication networks, such as Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) networks, Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) networks, Frequency Division Multiple Access (FDMA) networks, Orthogonal FDMA (OFDMA) networks, Single Carrier FDMA (SC-FDMA) networks, LTE networks, GSM networks, Fifth Generation (5G) or New Radio (NR) networks (sometimes referred to as "5G NR" networks, systems, or devices), and other communication networks. The terms "network" and "system" described herein may be used interchangeably.
[0025]
[0035] For example, a CDMA network may implement a radio technology such as Universal Terrestrial Radio Access (UTRA), cdma2000, etc. UTRA includes Wideband CDMA (W-CDMA) and Low Chip Rate (LCR). CDMA2000 covers IS-2000, IS-95, and IS-856 standards.
[0026]
[0036] The TDMA network may implement a radio technology such as, for example, Global System for Mobile communications (GSM). The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) defines standards for the GSM EDGE (enhanced data rates for GSM evolution) radio access network (RAN), also denoted as GERAN. The GERAN is the radio component of GSM / EDGE together with the network that connects the base stations (e.g., Ater and Abis interfaces) and the base station controllers (such as the A interface). The radio access network represents the component of the GSM network through which calls and packet data are routed from the public switched telephone network (PSTN) and the Internet to and from the subscriber handset, also known as the user terminal or user equipment (UE). A mobile phone operator's network may comprise one or more GERANs, which in the case of UMTS / GSM networks may be coupled to a UTRAN. Furthermore, the operator network may also include one or more LTE networks, or one or more other networks. Various different network types may use different radio access technologies (RATs) and RANs.
[0027]
[0037] OFDMA networks may implement radio technologies such as Evolved UTRA (E-UTRA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11, IEEE 802.16, IEEE 802.20, Flash OFDM, etc. UTRA, E-UTRA, and GSM are parts of the Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS). In particular, Long Term Evolution (LTE) is a release of UMTS that uses E-UTRA. UTRA, E-UTRA, GSM, UMTS, and LTE are described in documents provided by an organization named "3rd Generation Partnership Project" (3GPP), and cdma2000 is described in documents provided by an organization named "3rd Generation Partnership Project2" (3GPP2). These various radio technologies and standards are known or being developed. For example, 3GPP is a collaboration between groups of telecommunications associations that aims to define globally applicable third generation (3G) mobile phone specifications. 3GPP LTE is a 3GPP project that aims to improve the UMTS mobile phone standard. 3GPP may define specifications for next generation mobile networks, mobile systems, and mobile devices. While this disclosure may describe some aspects with reference to LTE, 4G, or 5G NR technology, it will be understood that this specification is not intended to be limited to a particular technology or application, and one or more aspects described with respect to one technology may be applicable to another technology. Additionally, one or more aspects of the present disclosure may relate to shared access to a wireless spectrum between networks using different radio access technologies or radio air interfaces.
[0028]
[0038] 5G networks consider diverse deployments, diverse spectrum, and diverse services and devices that can be implemented using an OFDM-based unified air interface. To achieve these goals, further enhancements of LTE and LTE-A are considered in addition to the development of new radio technologies for 5G NR networks. 5G NR is a service that supports: (1) ultra-high density (e.g., approximately 1M nodes / km); 2 (2) for the mass Internet of Things (IoT) with ultra-low complexity (e.g., on the order of 10 bits / second), ultra-low energy (e.g., on the order of 10+ years battery life), and deep coverage with the ability to reach difficult locations; (3) for mission-critical control, including those with strong security to protect sensitive personal, financial, or confidential information, ultra-high reliability (e.g., on the order of 99.9999% reliability), ultra-low latency (e.g., on the order of 1 millisecond (ms)), and users with or without widespread mobility; and (4) for those with very high capacity (e.g., on the order of 10 Tbps / km 2 ), scaling to provide coverage with enhanced mobile broadband including extreme data rates (e.g., multi-Gbps rates, 100+ Mbps user experience rates), and deep awareness with advanced discovery and optimization.
[0029]
[0039] Devices, networks, and systems may be configured to communicate over one or more portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. The electromagnetic spectrum is often subdivided into various classes, bands, channels, etc., based on frequency or wavelength. In 5GNR, two initial operating bands have been identified as frequency range designations FR1 (410 MHz to 7.125 GHz) and FR2 (24.25 GHz to 52.6 GHz). Frequencies between FR1 and FR2 are often referred to as mid-band frequencies. Although portions of FR1 are greater than 6 GHz, FR1 is often referred to (interchangeably) as the "sub-6 GHz" band in various documents and articles. A similar nomenclature issue sometimes arises with regard to FR2, which is often referred to (interchangeably) as the "millimeter wave" (mmWave) band in documents and articles, even though it is distinct from the extremely high frequency (EHF) band (30 GHz to 300 GHz) identified by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as the "mmWave band."
[0030]
[0040] With the above aspects in mind, it should be understood that unless otherwise specified, terms such as "sub-6 GHz," as used herein, may broadly refer to frequencies that may be less than 6 GHz, may be within FR1, or may include mid-band frequencies. Additionally, it should be understood that unless otherwise specified, terms such as "mmWave," as used herein, may broadly refer to frequencies that may include mid-band frequencies, may be within FR2, or may be within the EHF band.
[0031]
[0041] 5G NR devices, networks, and systems may be implemented to use optimized OFDM-based waveform features. These features may include scalable numerology and transmission time intervals (TTIs), a common flexible framework for efficient multiplexing of services and features in dynamic, low-latency time division duplex (TDD) or frequency division duplex (FDD) designs, and advanced wireless technologies such as massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO), robust mmWave transmission, advanced channel coding, and device-centric mobility. The scalability of numerology in 5G NR with the scaling of subcarrier spacing may efficiently address operating diverse services across diverse spectrum and diverse deployments. For example, in various outdoor and macro coverage deployments of FDD or TDD implementations below 3 GHz, subcarrier spacing with 15 kHz may occur over bandwidths of, for example, 1, 5, 10, 20 MHz, etc. In various other outdoor and small cell coverage deployments of TDD over 3 GHz, subcarrier spacing with 30 kHz may occur over 80 / 100 MHz bandwidths. In various other indoor wideband implementations using TDD in the unlicensed portion of the 5 GHz band, subcarrier spacing may occur at 60 kHz over a 160 MHz bandwidth. Finally, in various deployments transmitting with mmWave components at 28 GHz TDD, subcarrier spacing may occur at 120 kHz over a 500 MHz bandwidth.
[0032]
[0042] 5G NR's scalable numerology facilitates scalable TTIs for diverse latency and quality of service (QoS) requirements. For example, shorter TTIs can be used for low latency and high reliability, while longer TTIs can be used for higher spectral efficiency. It allows efficient multiplexing of long and short TTIs and transmissions to start at symbol boundaries. 5G NR also contemplates a self-contained integrated subframe design with uplink or downlink scheduling information, data, and acknowledgments in the same subframe. The self-contained integrated subframe supports communication in unlicensed or contention-based shared spectrum, adaptive uplink or downlink that can be flexibly configured per cell to dynamically switch between uplink and downlink to meet current traffic needs.
[0033]
[0043] For clarity, certain aspects of the apparatus and techniques may be described below with reference to an example 5G NR implementation or in a 5G-centric manner, and 5G terminology may be used as an illustrative example in parts of the description below, but the description is not intended to be limited to 5G application examples.
[0034]
[0044] Furthermore, it should be understood that in operation, a wireless communications network adapted in accordance with the concepts herein may operate in any combination of licensed or unlicensed spectrum, depending on loading and availability. Thus, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the systems, apparatus, and methods described herein may be applied to other communications systems and applications beyond the specific examples provided.
[0035]
[0045] Although aspects and implementations are described in this application by way of illustration for some examples, those skilled in the art will understand that additional implementations and use cases may occur in many different configurations and scenarios. The innovations described herein may be implemented across many different platform types, devices, systems, shapes, sizes, and packaging configurations. For example, implementations or uses may be realized via integrated chip implementations or other non-modular component-based devices (e.g., end-user devices, vehicles, communication devices, computing devices, industrial equipment, retail or purchasing devices, medical equipment, AI-enabled devices, etc.). Some examples may or may not be specifically targeted to use cases or applications, but broad applicability of the described innovations may occur. Implementations may range from chip-level or modular components to non-modular, non-chip-level implementations, and even aggregated, distributed, or original equipment manufacturer (OEM) devices or systems incorporating one or more described aspects. In some practical settings, devices incorporating the described aspects and features may also necessarily include additional components and features for the implementation and practice of the claimed and described aspects. It is intended that the innovations described herein may be practiced in a wide variety of implementations, including both large and small devices of various sizes, shapes, and configurations, chip-level components, multi-component systems (e.g., radio frequency (RF) chains, communications interfaces, processors), distributed configurations, end-user devices, and the like.
[0036]
[0046] 1 is a block diagram illustrating details of an exemplary wireless communication system according to one or more aspects. The wireless communication system may include a wireless network 100. The wireless network 100 may include, for example, a 5G wireless network. As will be appreciated by one skilled in the art, the components appearing in FIG. 1 may have related counterparts in other network configurations, including, for example, cellular-style network configurations and non-cellular-style network configurations (e.g., device-to-device or peer-to-peer or ad-hoc network configurations, etc.).
[0037]
[0047] The wireless network 100 shown in FIG. 1 includes a number of base stations 105 and other network entities. The network entities may be base stations, macro base stations, pico base stations, femto base stations, eNodeBs, relays, network nodes, network equipment, mobility elements, etc. A base station may be a station that communicates with UEs and may also be referred to as an evolved Node B (eNB), next generation eNB (gNB), access point, etc. Each base station 105 may provide communication coverage for a particular geographic area. In 3GPP, the term "cell" may refer to this particular geographic coverage area of a base station or base station subsystem serving the coverage area depending on the context in which the term is used. In implementations of the wireless network 100 herein, the base stations 105 may be associated with the same operator or different operators (e.g., the wireless network 100 may include a multi-operator wireless network). Furthermore, in implementations of the wireless network 100 herein, the base station 105 may provide wireless communication using one or more of the same frequencies as neighboring cells (e.g., one or more frequency bands in a licensed spectrum, an unlicensed spectrum, or a combination thereof). In some examples, an individual base station 105 or UE 115 may be operated by more than one network operating entity, while in some other examples, each base station 105 and UE 115 may be operated by a single network operating entity.
[0038]
[0048] A base station may provide communication coverage for a macro cell, or a small cell such as a pico cell or femto cell, or other type of cell. A macro cell generally covers a relatively large geographic area (e.g., a few kilometers in radius) and may allow unrestricted access by UEs having a service subscription with a network provider. A small cell such as a pico cell generally covers a relatively smaller geographic area and may allow unrestricted access by UEs having a service subscription with a network provider. A small cell such as a femto cell will generally also cover a relatively small geographic area (e.g., a home) and may provide unrestricted access as well as restricted access by UEs having an association with the femto cell (e.g., UEs in a Closed Subscriber Group (CSG), UEs for users in the home, etc.). A base station for a macro cell may be referred to as a macro base station. A base station for a small cell may be referred to as a small cell base station, a pico base station, a femto base station, or a home base station. In the example shown in FIG. 1, base stations 105d and 105e are regular macro base stations, while base stations 105a-105c are macro base stations enabled with one of three-dimensional (3D), full-dimensional (FD), or massive MIMO. Base stations 105a-105c can utilize high-dimensional MIMO capabilities to increase coverage and capacity using 3D beamforming in both elevation and azimuth beamforming. Base station 105f is a small cell base station that may be a home node or a portable access point. A base station may support one or multiple (e.g., two, three, four, etc.) cells.

[0049] In aspects, the network entities, network nodes, network equipment, mobility elements, etc. of the wireless network 100 may be implemented in an aggregated or monolithic base station architecture, or in a non-aggregated base station architecture, and may include one or more of a central unit (CU), a distributed unit (DU), a radio unit (RU), a near-real-time (Near-RT) RAN intelligent controller (RIC), or a non-real-time (non-RT) RIC, etc.
[0040]
[0050] The wireless network 100 may support synchronous or asynchronous operation. For synchronous operation, the base stations have similar frame timing and transmissions from different base stations may be approximately aligned in time. For asynchronous operation, the base stations may have different frame timing and transmissions from different base stations may not be aligned in time. In some scenarios, the network may be enabled or configured to handle dynamic switching between synchronous and asynchronous operation.
[0041]
[0051] The UEs 115 are dispersed throughout the wireless network 100, and each UE may be stationary or mobile. Although mobile devices are commonly referred to as UEs in standards and specifications promulgated by 3GPP, it should be appreciated that such devices may additionally or otherwise be referred to by those skilled in the art as mobile stations (MS), subscriber stations, mobile units, subscriber units, wireless units, remote units, mobile devices, wireless devices, wireless communication devices, remote devices, mobile subscriber stations, access terminals (ATs), mobile terminals, wireless terminals, remote terminals, handsets, terminals, user agents, mobile clients, clients, gaming devices, augmented reality devices, vehicle components, vehicle devices, or vehicle modules, or some other suitable terminology. Within this document, a "mobile" device or UE need not necessarily be mobile, but may be stationary. Some non-limiting examples of mobile devices, for example those that may include one or more implementations of UE 115, include a mobile phone, a cellular (cell) phone, a smart phone, a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) phone, a Wireless Local Loop (WLL) station, a laptop, a personal computer (PC), a notebook, a netbook, a smartbook, a tablet, or a personal digital assistant (PDA).The mobile device may additionally or alternatively be an IoT or "Internet of Everything" (IoE) device such as one or more of an automobile or other transportation vehicle, a satellite radio, a global positioning system (GPS) device, a global navigation satellite system (GNSS) device, a logistics controller, a drone, a multicopter, a quadcopter, a smart energy or security device, a solar panel or solar array, city lighting, water, or other infrastructure, an industrial automation and enterprise device, a pair of glasses, a wearable camera, a smart watch, a health or fitness tracker, a mammalian implantable device, a gesture tracking device, a medical device, a consumer and wearable device such as a digital audio player (e.g., an MP3 player), a camera, a gaming console, a digital home or smart home device such as a home audio, video, multimedia device, an appliance, a sensor, a vending machine, an intelligent lighting, a home security system, a smart meter, and the like. In one aspect, the UE may be a device that includes a Universal Integrated Circuit Card (UICC). In another aspect, the UE may be a device that does not include a UICC. In some aspects, a UE that does not include a UICC may also be referred to as an IoE device. 1 are examples of mobile smartphone type devices accessing the wireless network 100. The UEs 115a-115d in the implementation shown in FIG. 1 are examples of various machines configured for communication accessing the wireless network 100. The UEs may also be machines specially configured for connection communications including machine type communication (MTC), enhanced MTC (eMTC), narrowband IoT (NB-IoT), etc. The UEs 115e-115k shown in FIG. 1 are examples of various machines configured for communication accessing the wireless network 100.
[0042]
[0052] A mobile device, such as the UE 115, may be capable of communicating with any type of base station, whether a macro base station, a pico base station, a femto base station, a relay, etc. In FIG. 1, the communication links (represented as lightning bolts) indicate wireless transmissions between the UE and a serving base station, which is a base station designated to serve the UE on the downlink or uplink, or desired transmissions between base stations, and backhaul transmissions between base stations. The UE may operate as a base station or other network node in some scenarios. Backhaul communication between base stations of the wireless network 100 may be performed using wired or wireless communication links.
[0043]
[0053] During operation in the wireless network 100, the base stations 105a-105c can serve the UEs 115a and 115b using cooperative spatial techniques such as 3D beamforming and coordinated multipoint (CoMP) or multi-connectivity. The macro base station 105d can perform backhaul communications with the base stations 105a-105c and the small cell base station 105f. The macro base station 105d can also transmit multicast services to be subscribed and received by the UEs 115c and 115d. Such multicast services can include mobile television or stream video, or other services for providing community information such as weather emergencies and alerts such as amber alerts and grey alerts.
[0044]
[0054] The wireless network 100 of the implementation supports mission-critical communications with ultra-reliable and redundant links for mission-critical devices such as a drone UE 115e. The redundant communication links with the UE 115e include links from macro base stations 105d and 105e and small cell base station 105f. Other machine-type devices (UE 115f (thermometer), UE 115g (smart meter), UE 115h (wearable device), etc.) may communicate directly with base stations, such as small cell base station 105f and macro base station 105e, via wireless network 100, or in a multi-hop configuration by communicating with another user device, which may relay its information to the network, such as UE 115f communicating temperature measurement information to smart meter UE 115g, which may then be reported to the network via small cell base station 105f. Wireless network 100 may also provide additional network efficiencies through dynamic low-latency TDD or low-latency FDD communications, such as in a vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) mesh network between UEs 115i-115k communicating with macro base station 105e.
[0045]
[0055] FIG. 2 is a block diagram illustrating an example of a base station 105 and a UE 115, according to one or more aspects. The base station 105 and the UE 115 may be any of the base stations and one of the UEs of FIG. 1. In a restricted association scenario (as described above), the base station 105 may be the small cell base station 105f of FIG. 1, and the UE 115 may be the UE 115c or 115d operating in the coverage area of the base station 105f, which would be included in the list of accessible UEs of the small cell base station 105f to access the small cell base station 105f. The base station 105 may also be some other type of base station. As shown in FIG. 2, the base station 105 may be equipped with antennas 234a-t and the UE 115 may be equipped with antennas 252a-r to facilitate wireless communication.
[0046]
[0056] In the base station 105, the transmit processor 220 may receive data from a data source 212 and control information from a controller 240, such as a processor. The control information may be for a physical broadcast channel (PBCH), a physical control format indicator channel (PCFICH), a physical hybrid automatic repeat request (ARQ) indicator channel (PHICH), a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH), an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), an MTC physical downlink control channel (MPDCCH), etc. The data may be for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), etc. Furthermore, the transmit processor 220 may process (e.g., encode and symbol map) the data and control information to obtain data symbols and control symbols, respectively. The transmit processor 220 may also generate reference symbols, for example, for a primary synchronization signal (PSS) and a secondary synchronization signal (SSS), as well as cell-specific reference signals. The transmit (TX) MIMO processor 230 may perform spatial processing (e.g., precoding) on the data symbols, control symbols, or reference symbols, if applicable, and may provide output symbol streams to modulators (MODs) 232a-t. For example, the spatial processing performed on the data symbols, control symbols, or reference symbols may include precoding. Each modulator 232 may process a respective output symbol stream (e.g., for OFDM, etc.) to obtain an output sample stream. Each modulator 232 may additionally or alternatively process (e.g., convert to analog, amplify, filter, and upconvert) the output sample stream to obtain a downlink signal. The downlink signals from the modulators 232a-t may be transmitted via the antennas 234a-t, respectively.
[0047]
[0057] At the UE 115, the antennas 252a-252r may receive downlink signals from the base station 105 and may provide received signals to demodulators (DEMODs) 254a-254r, respectively. Each demodulator 254 may condition (e.g., filter, amplify, downconvert, and digitize) a respective received signal to obtain input samples. Each demodulator 254 may further process the input samples (e.g., for OFDM, etc.) to obtain received symbols. A MIMO detector 256 may obtain the received symbols from the demodulators 254a-254r, perform MIMO detection on the received symbols, if applicable, and provide detected symbols. A receive processor 258 may process (e.g., demodulate, deinterleave, and decode) the detected symbols and provide decoded data for the UE 115 to a data sink 260 and provide decoded control information to a controller 280, such as a processor.
[0048]
[0058] On the uplink, at the UE 115, the transmit processor 264 may receive and process data from a data source 262 (e.g., in a physical uplink shared channel (PUSCH)) and control information from a controller 280 (e.g., in a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH)). Additionally, the transmit processor 264 may also generate reference symbols for a reference signal. The symbols from the transmit processor 264 may be precoded by a TX MIMO processor 266 if applicable, further processed by modulators 254a-254r (e.g., for SC-FDM, etc.), and transmitted to the base station 105. At the base station 105, the uplink signals from the UE 115 may be received by the antennas 234, processed by the demodulator 232, detected by a MIMO detector 236 if applicable, and further processed by the receive processor 238 to obtain decoded data and control information sent by the UE 115. The receive processor 238 may provide the decoded data to a data sink 239 and provide the decoded control information to a controller 240 .
[0049]
[0059] The controllers 240 and 280 may direct operation at the base station 105 and the UE 115, respectively. The controller 240 or other processors and modules of the base station 105 or the controller 280 or other processors and modules of the UE 115 may perform or direct the execution of various processes for the techniques described herein, such as the execution shown in Figures 4, 6, and 7 or other processes for the techniques described herein. The memories 242 and 282 may store data and program codes for the base station 105 and the UE 115, respectively. The scheduler 244 may schedule the UE for data transmission on the downlink or uplink.
[0050]
[0060] In some cases, the UE 115 and the base station 105 may operate in a shared radio frequency spectrum band, which may include licensed or unlicensed (e.g., contention-based) frequency spectrum. In the unlicensed frequency portion of the shared radio frequency spectrum band, the UE 115 or the base station 105 may traditionally perform a medium sensing procedure to contend for access to the frequency spectrum. For example, the UE 115 or the base station 105 may perform a listen-before-talk or listen-before-transmitting (LBT) procedure, such as clear channel assessment (CCA), before communicating to determine if a shared channel is available. In some implementations, the CCA may include an energy detection procedure to determine if there is any other active transmission. For example, the device may infer that a change in a received signal strength indicator (RSSI) on a power meter indicates that the channel is occupied. In particular, a signal power centered on a particular bandwidth and above a predetermined noise floor may indicate another wireless transmitter. CCA may also include detection of a particular sequence that indicates use of the channel. For example, another device may transmit a particular preamble before transmitting a data sequence. In some cases, the LBT procedure may involve a wireless node adjusting its own backoff window based on the amount of energy detected on the channel or acknowledgment / negative acknowledgment (ACK / NACK) feedback for its own transmitted packets as a proxy for collisions.
[0051]
[0061] In current implementations of wireless communication systems, various mechanisms are used to increase the reliability of communications. One such mechanism is related to the repetition of uplink transmissions. For example, in an implementation, PUCCH and / or PUSCH transmissions may be implemented using repetition. When using repetition techniques, the UE may be configured or scheduled to retransmit the uplink transmission repeatedly or repeatedly or multiple times. In these cases, the UE may be configured or scheduled to transmit the uplink transmission multiple times rather than simply transmitting a single uplink transmission. For example, the uplink transmission may be repeated on a number of resources (e.g., slots). However, in some situations, a first uplink transmission of a repeated transmission may be scheduled on a resource (e.g., slot), and at least one of the symbols on which the first uplink transmission may be scheduled to be transmitted is a downlink symbol (e.g., a semi-static downlink symbol). In such situations, current implementations of wireless communication systems perform a deferral procedure in which all uplink transmission repetitions are deferred until a later set of resources (e.g., slots) that includes enough uplink symbols to accommodate the uplink transmission repetitions.
[0052]
[0062] FIG. 3 shows a diagram illustrating an example of a PUCCH deferral procedure. As shown in FIG. 3, the UE 115 may be configured for PUCCH repetitions scheduled to be repeated by transmitting PUCCH repetitions 310a-310d to the base station 105. Before the deferral procedure (as indicated by the dashed blocks), the UE 115 may transmit four PUCCH repetitions 310a-310d starting at slot 0, with each repetition scheduled to be transmitted in a corresponding slot of slots 0-3. However, as shown, the first PUCCH repetition 310a may be scheduled to be transmitted, at least in part, via at least one downlink symbol 320, which may be a semi-static downlink symbol, such that the deferral procedure may be applied. Applying a postponement procedure may include postponing, delaying, scheduling, or otherwise deferring transmission of at least one of the PUCCH repetitions 310a-310d until a later set of resources (e.g., slots or symbols) on which the PUCCH repetition may be transmitted (e.g., a later set of slots that allows transmission of all PUCCH repetitions without spanning a semi-static downlink symbol). For example, the PUCCH repetitions 310a-310d may be postponed to start from slot 1 instead of the original first slot 0, in which case the PUCCH repetitions 310a-310d may be transmitted over slots 1-4 instead of the original slots 0-3.
[0053]
[0063] Current wireless communication systems have various procedures that are often highly dependent on the location of resources relative to the start of a transmission. For example, some procedures depend on the slot index of the slot in which the first iteration of an uplink transmission repetition is scheduled to be transmitted, or the slot index of the slot in which the start of an uplink transmission is scheduled to be transmitted. These procedures (also referred to herein as "slot index dependent procedures") may be performed under an assumption of where the uplink transmission starts (e.g., the first slot of a PUCCH repetition, (e.g., the slot index of the slot in which the first PUCCH iteration is scheduled to be transmitted), and / or the slot in which a PUSCH transmission is scheduled to start). However, because the start of an uplink transmission is performed from the original first slot to the postponed first slot (e.g., may be deferred to a later slot than originally scheduled), these slot index dependent procedures may be affected by the uplink transmission postponement procedures because current wireless communication systems lack a mechanism to determine whether the slot index dependent procedures are performed for the original first slot or the postponed first slot.
[0054]
[0064] Various aspects of the present disclosure relate to techniques that provide mechanisms for managing an order for performing a deferral procedure and at least one other slot index dependent procedure in a wireless communication system. In particular, in aspects of the present disclosure, a UE may be configured or scheduled to transmit several repetitions, particularly PUCCH transmissions, to a base station (e.g., multiple PUCCH repetitions). The UE may also determine to perform a first slot index dependent procedure (e.g., a procedure that may be based at least in part on a location (e.g., index) of a resource associated with a first PUCCH repetition among the PUCCH repetitions). For example, the UE may be scheduled to transmit a PUCCH repetition starting from an original first slot. In this example, the first slot index dependent procedure may be based on or at least in part dependent on a slot index (e.g., the original first slot) in which the first PUCCH repetition is scheduled to be transmitted. Furthermore, the UE may determine to perform a deferral procedure for a PUCCH repetition. In aspects, performing a deferral procedure for a PUCCH repetition may include deferring transmission of the first PUCCH repetition to a later slot (e.g., a slot occurring after the original first slot). According to aspects of the disclosure, the UE may determine an order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure, and can then perform the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure in that order. In aspects, the order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure can include performing the deferral procedure before the first slot index dependent procedure, performing the deferral procedure after the first slot index dependent procedure, or determining what type of procedure the first slot index dependent procedure is, and ordering the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure based on the procedure type of the first slot index dependent procedure. In some aspects, the UE can transmit a PUCCH repetition to the base station based on having performed the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure in order.
[0055]
[0065] It should be noted that the description herein focuses on PUCCH transmission (e.g., postponement of PUCCH transmission repetitions). However, this is merely for purposes of illustration and is not intended to be limiting in any way. Indeed, the techniques herein are applicable to any uplink transmission that may be postponed. For example, the techniques herein may be applicable to PUSCH transmission. In some implementations, the PUSCH transmission may be scheduled to be transmitted using repetition, in which case the PUSCH transmission may be postponed and the transmission of the first PUSCH repetition may be postponed until a later set of resources. In some implementations, the PUSCH transmission may be scheduled to be transmitted without using repetition, in which case the PUSCH transmission may be postponed until a later set of resources. In these cases, the UE may determine an order for performing the PUSCH transmission postponement procedure (e.g., with or without repetition) and the first slot index dependent procedure, and then perform the PUSCH transmission postponement procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure in the determined order in accordance with aspects of the present disclosure described with respect to the PUCCH transmission using repetition. In a particular example, as described in more detail herein, the first slot index dependent procedure may include a HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure, where the HARQ-ACK codebook may be configured to be multiplexed on the PUSCH transmission. In this example, the PUSCH transmission may be postponed, and the slot in which the original PUSCH transmission was scheduled to be transmitted prior to the PUSCH transmission postponement may be used to determine and / or generate the HARQ-ACK codebook.
[0056]
[0066] 4 is a block diagram of an example wireless communication system 400 that provides a mechanism for managing an order for performing a deferral procedure and at least one slot index dependent procedure in a wireless communication system in accordance with one or more aspects of the present disclosure. In some examples, the wireless communication system 400 may implement aspects of the wireless network 100. The wireless communication system 400 includes a UE 115 and a base station 105. Although one UE 115 and one base station 105 are shown, in some other implementations the wireless communication system 400 may generally include multiple UEs 115 and may also include two or more base stations 105.
[0057]
[0067] The UE 115 may include various components (such as structural hardware components, but also software components or a combination of software and hardware components) used to perform one or more functions described herein. For example, these components may include one or more processors 402 (collectively referred to hereinafter as "processors 402"), one or more memory devices 404 (collectively referred to hereinafter as "memories 404"), one or more transmitters 416 (collectively referred to hereinafter as "transmitters 416"), and one or more receivers 418 (collectively referred to hereinafter as "receivers 418"). The processor 402 may be configured to execute instructions stored in the memory 404 to perform the operations described herein. In some implementations, the processor 402 includes or corresponds to one or more of the receive processor 258, the transmit processor 264, and the controller 280, and the memory 404 includes or corresponds to the memory 282.
[0058]
[0068] The memory 404 may include or be configured to store a procedure manager 405, a PUCCH repetition manager 406, and a sequence manager 407. In an aspect, the procedure manager 405 may be configured to perform an operation of determining to perform a deferral procedure (e.g., a PUCCH repetition deferral procedure) and / or one or more slot index dependent procedures (e.g., a procedure that may be based at least in part on a location of a resource associated with a first PUCCH repetition of the PUCCH repetitions). In an aspect, the PUCCH repetition manager 406 may be configured to perform an operation of configuring or scheduling the transmission of PUCCH repetitions to a base station (e.g., base station 105). For example, the PUCCH repetition manager 406 may operate to repeat a PUCCH message in multiple transmissions that are transmitted or scheduled to be transmitted in multiple slots to the base station 105. In these cases, each slot may carry an iteration of the PUCCH repetition. In an aspect, the sequence manager 407 may be configured to perform an operation of determining an order in which the deferral procedure and at least one slot index dependent procedure are performed. In an aspect, the ordering may specify performing a deferral procedure before the at least one slot index dependent procedure, performing a deferral procedure after the at least one slot index dependent procedure, or determining what type of procedure the first slot index dependent procedure is and then ordering the procedures (e.g., the deferral procedure and the at least one slot index dependent procedure) based on the procedure type of the first slot index dependent procedure. The ordering manager 407 may also be configured to perform the procedures (e.g., the deferral procedure and the at least one slot index dependent procedure) in order and / or to cause any procedures to be performed in order.
[0059]
[0069] The transmitter 416 may be configured to transmit reference signals, control information, and data to one or more other devices, and the receiver 418 may be configured to receive reference signals, synchronization signals, control information, and data from one or more other devices. For example, the transmitter 416 can transmit signaling, control information, and data to the base station 105, and the receiver 418 can receive signaling, control information, and data from the base station 105. In some implementations, the transmitter 416 and the receiver 418 may be integrated into one or more transceivers. Additionally or alternatively, the transmitter 416 or the receiver 418 may include or correspond to one or more components of the UE 115 described with reference to FIG. 2.
[0060]
[0070] The base station 105 may include various components (such as structural hardware components, but also software components or a combination of software and hardware components) used to perform one or more functions described herein. For example, these components may include one or more processors 452 (collectively referred to below as “processors 452”), one or more memory devices 454 (collectively referred to below as “memories 454”), one or more transmitters 456 (collectively referred to below as “transmitters 456”), and one or more receivers 458 (collectively referred to below as “receivers 458”). The processor 452 may be configured to execute instructions stored in the memory 454 to perform the operations described herein. In some implementations, the processor 452 includes or corresponds to one or more of the receive processor 238, the transmit processor 220, and the controller 240, and the memory 454 includes or corresponds to the memory 242.
[0061]
[0071] The memory 454 may include or be configured to store a sequence manager 450 and a sequence configuration manager 451. In an aspect, the sequence manager 450 may be configured to perform operations to determine an order in which a UE (e.g., the UE 115) performs a deferral procedure and at least one slot index dependent procedure. In an aspect, the order may specify performing a deferral procedure before the at least one slot index dependent procedure, performing a deferral procedure after the at least one slot index dependent procedure, or determining what type of procedure the first slot index dependent procedure is, and then ordering the procedures (e.g., the deferral procedure and the at least one slot index dependent procedure) based on the procedure type of the first slot index dependent procedure. The sequence configuration manager 451 is configured to perform operations to generate a sequence configuration for the UE 115 that includes the order determined by the sequence manager 450. In an aspect, the sequence configuration may be transmitted to the UE 115, and the UE 115 may use the sequence configuration to determine an order in which to perform the deferral procedure and at least one slot index dependent procedure.
[0062]
[0072] The transmitter 456 may be configured to transmit reference signals, synchronization signals, control information, and data to one or more other devices, and the receiver 458 may be configured to receive reference signals, control information, and data from one or more other devices. For example, the transmitter 456 can transmit signaling, control information, and data to the UE 115, and the receiver 458 can receive signaling, control information, and data from the UE 115. In some implementations, the transmitter 456 and the receiver 458 may be integrated into one or more transceivers. Additionally or alternatively, the transmitter 456 or the receiver 458 may include or correspond to one or more components of the base station 105 described with reference to FIG. 2.
[0063]
[0073] In some implementations, the wireless communication system 400 may implement a 5G NR network. For example, the wireless communication system 400 may include a plurality of 5G-capable UEs 115 and a plurality of 5G-capable base stations 105, such as UEs and base stations configured to operate according to a 5G NR network protocol, such as one defined by 3GPP.
[0064]
[0074] During operation of the wireless communication system 400, the UE 115 may receive a message 470 from the base station 105. In an aspect, the message 470 may include an uplink grant that configures or schedules the UE 115 to transmit at least one repetition of the granted PUCCH to the base station 105. In these cases, each repetition may be scheduled to be transmitted to the base station 105 on a corresponding resource (e.g., a slot or subslot). For example, the UE 115 may determine to repeat a PUCCH transmission in each of a plurality of slots. Thus, a PUCCH repetition may be scheduled to be transmitted in each of a plurality of slots. In an aspect, a PUCCH transmission repeated in each of a plurality of slots may be associated with a particular procedure. For example, a particular procedure may be determined to be performed and associated with the PUCCH repetition by scheduling an uplink transmission (e.g., an acknowledgement (ACK) response or report) on the repeated PUCCH message or by performing an operation related to the PUCCH message (e.g., prioritizing the PUCCH message with respect to other uplink transmissions).
[0065]
[0075] It should be noted that while the description herein focuses on slot-based PUCCH repetition (e.g., each PUCCH repetition may be scheduled to be transmitted in each of a plurality of slots), the techniques herein are also applicable to subslot-based PUCCH repetition, where each PUCCH repetition may be scheduled to be transmitted in each of a plurality of subslots. Thus, the description herein regarding slot-based PUCCH repetition should not be construed as limiting in any manner. For example, in some aspects, the UE 115 may determine to repeat a PUCCH transmission in each of a plurality of subslots. Thus, a PUCCH repetition may be scheduled to be transmitted in each of a plurality of subslots. In an aspect, a PUCCH transmission that is repeated in each of a plurality of subslots may be associated with a particular procedure.
[0066]
[0076] During operation of the wireless communication system 400, the UE 115 may determine to perform at least one first slot index dependent procedure. In an aspect, the at least one first slot index dependent procedure may be a procedure as described above associated with a PUCCH repetition. For example, the UE 115 may determine to perform a procedure that depends at least in part on a position of a slot in which the first PUCCH repetition is transmitted. In an aspect, performing the at least one first slot index dependent procedure may be performed using a position (or index) of the first slot (also referred to as the original first slot, since this first slot is the slot of the first PUCCH repetition before the deferral procedure). Specific examples of the at least one first slot index dependent procedure are described in more detail below.
[0067]
[0077] During operation of the wireless communication system 400, the UE 115 may determine to perform a deferral procedure for a PUCCH repetition. In an aspect, the UE 115 may determine to perform a deferral procedure for a PUCCH repetition based on a determination that the first PUCCH repetition is scheduled to be transmitted at least in part in a semi-static downlink symbol. In this case, the UE 115 may determine to postpone or defer transmission of the PUCCH repetition until a later slot. The later slot may be determined by determining a number of slots in which the PUCCH repetition may be transmitted without colliding with a semi-static DL symbol. In this case, the first PUCCH repetition may be scheduled or transmitted in a first slot of a number of slots in which the PUCCH repetition may be transmitted without colliding with a semi-static DL symbol. Thus, an aspect deferral procedure may include scheduling and / or transmitting the PUCCH repetition over a number of postponed slots.
[0068]
[0078] During operation of the wireless communication system 400, the UE 115 may determine an order in which to perform the deferral procedure and the at least one first slot index dependent procedure. In an aspect, the UE 115 may determine the order based on a predetermined configuration of the UE 115. For example, the predetermined order configuration 408 may be stored in the memory 404 of the UE 115. The UE 115 may obtain the predetermined order configuration 408 and determine the order based on the configuration therein. In an aspect, the predetermined order configuration 408 may specify configurations and / or rules (e.g., as described in more detail below) that define an order based on a particular scenario. In some cases, the order may be specified based on a standard configuration (e.g., an IEEE standard).
[0069]
[0079] In some aspects, the UE 115 may determine an order in which to perform the deferral procedure and the at least one first slot index dependent procedure based on configuration information received from the base station 105. For example, during operation of the wireless communication system 400, the base station 105 may determine an order in which the UE 115 performs the deferral procedure and the at least one first slot index dependent procedure. In aspects, as described above, the order may be predetermined and stored as an order configuration 452 in the memory 454 of the base station 105. The base station 105 may obtain the pre-defined order configuration 452 and determine an order for the UE 115 based on the configuration therein. In aspects, the pre-defined order configuration 452 may specify configurations and / or rules (e.g., as described in more detail below) that define an order based on a particular scenario. In some cases, the order may be specified based on a standard configuration (e.g., an IEEE standard). In these aspects, the base station may transmit a configuration message to the UE 115 indicating an order in which the UE 115 performs the deferral procedure and the at least one first slot index dependent procedure. For example, the configuration message may be included in message 470 or may be sent in a different separate message from base station 105 to UE 115. UE 115 may receive the configuration from base station 105 that includes an indication of the order and may determine the order based on the indication.
[0070]
[0080] In aspects, an order for performing the deferral procedure and the at least one first slot index dependent procedure may include performing the deferral procedure before the at least one first slot index dependent procedure. In these aspects, the UE 115 may be configured to perform the deferral procedure and postpone transmission of the first PUCCH repetition (and thus transmission of all PUCCH repetitions) to the postponed first slot. Thus, instead of transmitting the PUCCH repetition starting in the original first slot (e.g., the first slot scheduled with the transmission grant that allows the PUCCH transmission), the UE 115 may transmit, or schedule for transmission, the PUCCH repetition starting in the postponed first slot. After postponing the PUCCH repetition transmission and determining the postponed first slot, the UE 115 may perform the at least one first slot index dependent procedure based on an index of the postponed first slot. In this case, the at least one first slot index dependent procedure may be performed using an index of the postponed first slot as a hypothesized index of the first slot of the PUCCH repetition, even if the actual first slot of the PUCCH repetition may be the postponed first slot. As will be appreciated, in this case, the at least one first slot index dependent procedure is affected by the postponement procedure, since the postponement procedure is performed before it is determined that the at least one first slot index dependent procedure is to be performed. As a result, the at least one first slot index dependent procedure will be performed using the postponed first slot.
[0071]
[0081] In aspects, the order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure may include performing the deferral procedure after the at least one first slot index dependent procedure. In these aspects, the UE 115 may be configured to perform the at least one first slot index dependent procedure based on an index of the original first slot (e.g., the first slot scheduled with a transmission grant that allows a PUCCH transmission). In this case, the at least one first slot index dependent procedure may be performed using the index of the original first slot as a hypothesized index of the first slot of the PUCCH repetition without considering whether the PUCCH repetition may be postponed. After performing the first slot index dependent procedure, the UE 115 may perform the deferral procedure to defer the transmission of the first PUCCH repetition (and thus the transmission of all PUCCH repetitions) to the postponed first slot. Thus, instead of transmitting the PUCCH repetition starting in the original first slot, the UE 115 may transmit or schedule to transmit the PUCCH repetition starting in the postponed first slot. Thus, in these cases, despite the first PUCCH repetition being postponed (and thus the first slot in which the first PUCCH repetition is transmitted), the first slot index dependent procedure is performed based on the original first slot as if the first PUCCH repetition had not been postponed. As will be appreciated, in this case, the postponement procedure is performed after it has been determined that the at least one first slot index dependent procedure is to be performed using the original first slot, and therefore the at least one first slot index dependent procedure is not affected by the postponement procedure.
[0072]
[0082] In aspects, the order for performing the deferral procedure and the at least one first slot index dependent procedure may depend on the type of procedure of the at least one first slot index dependent procedure. In these aspects, the UE 115 (or the base station 105) may determine which type of procedure the at least one first slot index dependent procedure is. For example, the UE 115 may determine whether the at least one first slot index dependent procedure is a feedback report related procedure, an uplink transmission prioritization procedure, etc. The UE 115 (or the base station 105 in some aspects) may then determine whether to perform the deferral procedure before or after the at least one first slot index dependent procedure based on the type of the procedure. For example, the UE 115 may determine to perform the feedback report related procedure before the deferral procedure. In another example, the UE 115 may determine to perform the uplink transmission prioritization procedure after the deferral procedure. In either case, the order of the procedures may be determined based on the type of the at least one first slot index dependent procedure.
[0073]
[0083] During operation of the wireless communication system 400, the UE 115 may perform the deferral procedure and the at least one first slot index dependent procedure in a determined order. Note that although the description herein describes an order in which the deferral procedure is performed before or after the at least one first slot index dependent procedure, it should be understood that the procedures (e.g., the deferral procedure and / or the at least one first slot index dependent procedure) do not necessarily have to be performed before or after each other. Indeed, as used herein, performing one procedure before another procedure may simply include determining to perform the procedure. For example, deferring a PUCCH repetition before a feedback reporting related procedure does not necessarily include transmitting a PUCCH repetition in the deferred slot before performing the feedback reporting related procedure. In this case, the feedback reporting related procedure may be performed using the deferred slot as the slot index of the first PUCCH repetition, even if the first PUCCH repetition has not yet been transmitted on the deferred slot.
[0074]
[0084] During operation of the wireless communication system 400, the UE 115 may transmit the PUCCH repetitions 480 according to a deferred procedure. For example, the UE 115 may transmit the PUCCH repetitions 480 on deferred resources, and the first PUCCH repetition may be transmitted in a deferred first slot.
[0075]
[0085] In aspects, the at least one first slot index dependent procedure may include one or more of a variety of procedures. In aspects, the at least one first slot index dependent procedure may include a feedback generation procedure. FIG. 5A illustrates a diagram illustrating an example of feedback and deferral procedures performed in a determined order according to aspects of the present disclosure. In aspects, hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) feedback may be implemented in a wireless communication system. In these implementations, the base station may configure HARQ feedback from the UE by providing a transmission grant to the UE, including a feedback timing indicator (K1) indicating the relative position of a resource (e.g., slot) at which the UE reports HARQ feedback (e.g., ACK / NACK) for transmission from the base station to the UE. In aspects, the K1 indicator may also be referred to as a PDSCH-to-HARQ timing indicator.
[0076]
[0086] For example, as shown in FIG. 5A, the base station 105 may configure the UE 115 (e.g., via a downlink control indication message, such as message 470, a radio resource configuration (RRC) message, or a semi-persistent scheduling (SPS) message) to receive the first PDSCH 360 in slot 0 and the second PDSCH 361 in slot 1. Additionally, the base station 105 may configure or schedule the UE 115 to transmit HARQ feedback for each of the first PDSCH 360 and the second PDSCH 361. For example, the base station may transmit a corresponding K1 value to the UE 115 in a PDSCH grant for each of the first PDSCH 360 and the second PDSCH 361. For example, a K1 value of 3 may be provided for the first PDSCH 360 and a K1 value of 3 may be provided for the second PDSCH 361. The UE 115 may add the respective K1 value to the slot index in which the PDSCH is received to obtain the slot index of the slot in which the HARQ feedback for the PDSCH is sent. For example, if the first PDSCH 360 is received in slot 0, applying a K1 value of 3 will cause the UE 115 to schedule the HARQ feedback for the first PDSCH 360 in slot 3 (0+3=3). Similarly, if the second PDSCH 361 is received in slot 1, applying a K1 value of 3 for the second PDSCH will cause the UE 115 to schedule the HARQ feedback for the second PDSCH 361 in slot 4 (1+3=4).
[0077]
[0087] In an aspect, the UE 115 may be configured to generate a HARQ-ACK codebook for feedback reported for a PDSCH transmission. In this case where the feedback in a particular slot includes feedback for a single PDSCH reception, the UE 115 may generate a HARQ-ACK codebook for the single feedback. On the other hand, if the feedback in a particular slot includes feedback for multiple PDSCH receptions, the UE 115 may multiplex the HARQ feedback for the multiple PDSCH receptions and then generate a single HARQ-ACK codebook for the multiple HARQ feedbacks transmitted in the same PUCCH transmission.
[0078]
[0088] Further, in an aspect, the UE 115 may be configured for PUCCH repetition. In this case, the PUCCH message in which the HARQ feedback is transmitted to the base station 105 may be repeated in multiple slots. For example, the HARQ feedback 310 corresponding to the first PDSCH 360 may be repeated by scheduling PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b to be transmitted. As described above, based on the K1 indicator of the first PDSCH 360, the first repetition of the PUCCH carrying the HARQ feedback of the first PDSCH 360 may be scheduled to be transmitted in slot 3. In a similar manner, the HARQ feedback 311 corresponding to the second PDSCH 361 may be repeated by scheduling PUCCH repetitions 311a and 311b to be transmitted. As described above, based on the K1 indicator of the second PDSCH 361, the first repetition of the PUCCH carrying the HARQ feedback of the second PDSCH 361 may be scheduled to be transmitted in slot 4. 5A, the symbols 321 of slot 3 in which the PUCCH repetition 310a is scheduled to be transmitted to the base station 105 may be determined (e.g., by the UE 115) to be downlink symbols (e.g., semi-static downlink symbols). In response to determining that the symbols of the first PUCCH repetition 310a include downlink symbols, the UE 115 may determine to perform a deferral procedure for the PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b.
[0079]
[0089] Applying the deferral procedure to the PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b may include postponing or deferring the PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b to start from slot 4, a slot that may not include semi-static downlink symbols. In this manner, a first one of the PUCCH repetitions (e.g., the first PUCCH repetition 310a) may be scheduled to be transmitted in the postponed first slot 4 instead of the original first slot 3.
[0080]
[0090] In this example shown in FIG. 5A, the UE 115 can determine the order of performing the deferral procedure and the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure. In aspects, the UE 115 can determine to perform the deferral procedure before the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure. In some of these aspects, the UE 115 can determine to perform the deferral procedure before the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure based on a predefined configuration. In other aspects, the UE 115 can first determine the type of procedure and can determine that the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure is a feedback reporting related procedure. In this case, the UE 115 can determine to perform the deferral procedure before the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure based on the determination of the type of procedure of the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure. In these aspects, the UE 115 can initially defer the PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b to start from slot 4 instead of starting from slot 3 as originally scheduled. Thus, performing the postponement procedure postpones the first slot with index 4 (e.g., the slot index of the slot to which the first PUCCH repetition is postponed) instead of the original first slot 3. After performing the postponement procedure, the UE 115 may perform a HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure. In this case, the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure may be performed using the postponed first slot (e.g., slot 4) as the first slot of the PUCCH repetition. Since slot 4 is also the first slot of the PUCCH repetition carrying HARQ feedback for the second PDSCH 361, the UE 115 may multiplex the HARQ feedback for both the first PDSCH 360 and the second PDSCH 361 into the same HARQ-ACK codebook used for the PUCCH to be repeated in slots 4 and 5.
[0081]
[0091] In other aspects, the UE 115 may decide to perform a postponement procedure after the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure. In these aspects, the UE 115 may perform the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure first. In this case, the UE 115 may use slot 3 as an index of the first PUCCH iteration of the PUCCH carrying HARQ feedback for the first PDSCH 360 and slot 4 as an index of the first PUCCH iteration of the PUCCH carrying HARQ feedback for the second PDSCH 361. In this example, the first PUCCH iteration of the PUCCH carrying HARQ feedback for the first PDSCH 360 and the first PUCCH iteration of the PUCCH carrying HARQ feedback for the second PDSCH 361 are not scheduled to be transmitted in the same slot, so the UE 115 may generate a separate HARQ-ACK codebook for each set of PUCCH iterations. For example, the UE 115 may generate a HARQ-ACK codebook for HARQ feedback of the first PDSCH 360 used in the first PUCCH and a separate HARQ-ACK codebook for HARQ feedback of the second PDSCH 361 used in the second PUCCH. After performing the HARQ-ACK codebook generation procedure, the UE 115 may perform a postponement procedure. As described above, performing the postponement procedure may include postponing or deferring the PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b to start from slot 4 instead of starting from slot 3 as originally scheduled. As shown, slots 4 and 5 are also the slots in which the PUCCH repetitions 311a and 311b carrying HARQ feedback for the second PDSCH 361 are scheduled to be transmitted. However, because different HARQ-ACK codebooks are generated by the UE 115 for the HARQ feedback for the first PDSCH 360 and the HARQ feedback for the second PDSCH 361, the two HARQ feedbacks may not be transmitted in the same slot.In aspects, this situation may be determined to be an error, and in some aspects, the UE 115 may drop either HARQ feedback transmission. In some aspects, this situation may be handled by applying prioritization, as described throughout this application. In this case, since PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b and PUCCH repetitions 311a and 311b, respectively, carry HARQ-ACK feedback, the UE 115 may use the starting slot index associated with each of the PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b and 311a and 311b to determine which transmission to transmit (e.g., the transmission including PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b, or the transmission including PUCCH repetitions 311a and 311b) and which transmission to drop. In the illustrated example, the UE 115 may determine that the PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b were initially scheduled to start in slot 3, and the PUCCH repetitions 311a and 311b were initially scheduled to start in slot 4. Thus, in this case, the UE 115 may prioritize PUCCH repetitions 310a and 310b over PUCCH repetitions 311a and 311b.
[0082]
[0092] In an aspect, at least one first slot index dependent procedure may include an uplink transmission prioritization procedure. FIG. 5B illustrates a diagram illustrating an example of an uplink transmission prioritization procedure and a deferral procedure performed in an order determined according to an aspect of the present disclosure. In a wireless communication system, an intra-UE prioritization procedure may be implemented. This prioritization procedure may include prioritization of uplink transmissions among each other. In these uplink transmission prioritization procedures, a first uplink transmission is prioritized over a second uplink transmission, which may be dropped or deferred in favor of the first uplink transmission. For example, a first PUCCH (e.g., a repetition of the first PUCCH) may be prioritized over a second PUCCH (e.g., a repetition of the second PUCCH). In an aspect, prioritization of PUCCH repetitions may be based on the type of uplink control information (UCI) included in the repeated PUCCH message. In an aspect, a PUCCH carrying a HARQ-ACK may be prioritized over a PUCCH carrying a Scheduling Request (SR) signal. In an aspect, a PUCCH carrying a SR signal may be prioritized over a PUCCH carrying a Channel State Information (CSI). Also, in an aspect, a PUCCH carrying a higher priority CSI may be prioritized over a PUCCH carrying a lower priority CSI. In either case, if two PUCCH transmissions are transmitted in the same slot, the prioritization rules above may apply. In this case, the higher priority PUCCH may be transmitted and the lower priority PUCCH may be dropped. In some aspects, when two PUCCH transmissions have the same UCI type priority (e.g., both PUCCH transmissions include HARQ-ACK feedback, SR, or CSI reporting), a PUCCH with an repetition scheduled to start earlier (e.g., scheduled to start in an earlier slot or subslot) may be prioritized over a PUCCH with an repetition scheduled to start later (e.g., scheduled to start in a later slot or subslot). In this case, the PUCCH with the scheduled repetition starting later may be dropped and the PUCCH with the scheduled repetition starting earlier may be transmitted to the base station. Furthermore, if two PUCCH transmissions have the same priority and have scheduled repetitions starting in the same slot, the UE may be configured to report an error or discard the scheduling information that triggers the PUCCH transmission.
[0083]
[0093] For example, as shown in FIG. 5B, the UE 115 may be configured or scheduled to initially transmit PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c beginning at slot 0. In this case, the PUCCH messages repeated in PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c may carry a first type of UCI. In this example, the UE 115 may be configured or scheduled to transmit PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b beginning at slot 1. In this case, the PUCCH messages repeated in PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b may carry a second type of UCI. As noted above, the PUCCH repetitions may be prioritized relative to one another based on the type of UCI carried by the PUCCH. In this example, the first type of UCI carried in PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c may have the same priority as the second type of UCI carried in PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b.
[0084]
[0094] As shown in FIG. 5B, the symbols 520 of slot 0 in which the PUCCH repetition 510a is initially scheduled to be transmitted to the base station 105 may be determined (e.g., by the UE 115) to be downlink symbols (e.g., semi-static downlink symbols). In response to determining that the symbols of the first PUCCH repetition 510a include downlink symbols, the UE 115 may determine to perform a deferral procedure for the PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c. Applying the deferral procedure to the PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c may include postponing or deferring the PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c to start from slot 1, a slot that may not include semi-static symbols. In this manner, the first slot of the PUCCH repetition (e.g., the first PUCCH repetition 510a) may be scheduled to be transmitted in the postponed first slot 1 instead of the original first slot 0.
[0085]
[0095] In the example shown in FIG. 5B, the UE 115 may determine the order of performing the deferral procedure and the uplink transmission prioritization procedure. In aspects, the UE 115 may determine to perform the deferral procedure before the uplink transmission prioritization procedure. In some of these aspects, the UE 115 may determine to perform the deferral procedure before the uplink transmission prioritization procedure based on a predefined configuration. In other aspects, the UE 115 may first determine the type of procedure and determine that the uplink transmission prioritization procedure is the prioritization procedure. In this case, the UE 115 may determine to perform the deferral procedure before the uplink transmission prioritization procedure based on the determination of the type of procedure of the uplink transmission prioritization procedure. In these aspects, the UE 115 may initially defer the PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c to start from slot 1 instead of starting from the originally scheduled slot 0. Thus, performing the deferral procedure postpones the first slot of index 1 (e.g., the slot index of the slot to which the first PUCCH repetition is postponed) instead of the original first slot 0. After performing the deferral procedure, the UE 115 may perform an uplink transmission prioritization procedure. In this case, the uplink transmission prioritization procedure may be performed using the first postponed slot (e.g., slot 1) as the first slot of PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c and PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b. However, in the example shown in FIG. 5B, slot 1 is also the first slot in which PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b begin, which may cause an error condition because PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b carry UCI of the same priority level as the UCI in PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c.
[0086]
[0096] In other aspects, the UE 115 may determine to perform the deferral procedure after the uplink transmission prioritization procedure. In these aspects, the UE 115 may perform the uplink transmission prioritization procedure first. In this case, the UE 115 may use slot 0 as the index of the first PUCCH repetition of the PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c. The UE 115 may also use slot 1 as the index of the first PUCCH repetition of the PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b. In this example, PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c may be prioritized higher than PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b even though PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c and PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b carry the same type of UCI because PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c start in an earlier slot than PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b (e.g., the first slot index is 0 for PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c and the first slot index is 1 for PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b). After performing the uplink transmission prioritization procedure, UE 115 may perform a deferral procedure. In this case, performing the deferral procedure may include postponing or deferring PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c to start in slot 1 instead of starting in slot 0 as originally scheduled, as described above. Slot 1 is also the slot in which the first of PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b is scheduled to be transmitted. However, even though PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c and PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b carry the same type of UCI, after the postponement, PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c are prioritized higher than PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b because the uplink transmission prioritization procedure was performed before the postponement procedure, even though PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c and PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b are scheduled to start in the same slot. Thus, in this example, PUCCH repetitions 530a and 530b may be dropped and PUCCH repetitions 510a-510c may be transmitted to base station 105.
[0087]
[0097] In an aspect, at least one first slot index dependent procedure may include an out of order (OoO) condition checking procedure. For example, a scheduling limitation may be imposed by an accepted communication standard. An example of such a scheduling limitation may include a scheduling limitation requiring that in a given scheduled cell, a UE may not be expected to receive a first PDSCH transmission and a second PDSCH transmission that starts after the first PDSCH transmission, and a HARQ feedback transmission corresponding to the second PDSCH transmission is transmitted on a PUCCH resource that ends in a slot prior to the start of the HARQ feedback transmission related to the first PDSCH transmission. In an aspect, the OoO condition checking procedure may include a procedure for determining an OoO condition between the first PDSCH transmission and the second PDSCH transmission by checking whether the corresponding HARQ feedback transmission is scheduled to satisfy the above scheduling restriction. For example, the UE 115 may be scheduled to transmit a PUCCH transmission carrying HARQ feedback associated with a first PDSCH transmission on a first resource and a PUCCH transmission carrying HARQ feedback associated with a second PDSCH transmission on a second resource. In this example, the PUCCH transmission carrying HARQ feedback associated with the first PDSCH transmission may be postponed to a later resource instead of the first resource. In this case, the UE 115 may determine to perform a PUCCH transmission postponement procedure after the OoO status check procedure. For example, the UE 115 may use the original resource (e.g., the first resource), and the HARQ feedback is scheduled to be transmitted to check the OoO status for the PUCCH transmission carrying HARQ feedback associated with the second PDSCH transmission (e.g., the second resource). In this way, OoO is checked before the PUCCH postponement procedure.
[0088]
[0098] In an aspect, the UE 115 may determine to perform a postponement procedure of a PUCCH transmission carrying HARQ feedback before the OoO status check procedure. In this case, the UE 115 may use a resource after which the PUCCH transmission is postponed instead of the original resource (e.g., the first resource), and the PUCCH transmission is scheduled to check the OoO status for a PUCCH transmission carrying HARQ feedback related to a second PDSCH transmission (e.g., the second resource). In this way, the OoO is checked after the PUCCH postponement procedure.
[0089]
[0099] Another example of a scheduling restriction that may be imposed by an accepted communication standard may include a scheduling restriction that requires that if, in a particular scheduled cell, a UE is scheduled to start a first PUSCH transmission beginning at a first symbol j by a first PDCCH transmission ending at symbol i, the UE is not expected to be scheduled to transmit a second PUSCH transmission beginning earlier than the end of the first PUSCH transmission by a second PDCCH transmission ending later than symbol i. In this case, the OoO status check procedure may include a procedure for determining an OoO condition between the first and second PUSCH transmissions to determine whether the scheduling of the first and second PUSCH transmissions satisfies the above scheduling constraint. However, in this example, the first PUSCH transmission may be postponed. In an aspect, the UE 115 may determine to perform a PUSCH transmission postponement procedure after the OoO status check procedure. In this case, the UE 115 may check the OoO status for the second PUSCH transmission using the original slot in which the first PUSCH transmission is scheduled to be transmitted. In this case, because the postponement of the PUSCH transmission is performed after the OoO status check, the second PUSCH transmission may be allowed to be scheduled before the end of the postponed first PUSCH transmission because the OoO check is performed before the postponement.
[0090]
[0100] In an aspect, the UE 115 may determine to perform a PUSCH transmission postponement procedure before the OoO status check procedure. In this case, the UE 115 may check the OoO status for the second PUSCH transmission using the slot to which the first PUSCH transmission is postponed instead of the original slot in which the first PUSCH transmission is scheduled. In this case, since the PUSCH transmission postponement is performed before the OoO status check for the second PUSCH transmission, the second PUSCH transmission cannot be scheduled before the end of the postponed first PUSCH transmission, and therefore needs to be scheduled to be transmitted after the end of the postponed first PUSCH transmission.
[0091]
[0101] FIG. 6 is a flow diagram illustrating an example process 600 supporting management of an order for performing a deferral procedure and at least one other slot index dependent procedure in a wireless communication system, according to one or more aspects. The operations of the process illustrated in FIG. 6 may be performed by a UE, such as the UE 115 described above with reference to FIG. 1, FIG. 2, FIG. 3, FIG. 4, FIG. 5A, and FIG. 5B, or the UE 800 described with reference to FIG. 8. For example, example operations (also referred to as "blocks") of the process illustrated in FIG. 6 may enable the UE 115, 800 to support management of an order for performing a deferral procedure and at least one other slot index dependent procedure. FIG. 8 is a block diagram illustrating a configured UE 115, 800, according to an aspect of the present disclosure. The UE 115, 800 includes the structure, hardware, and components as illustrated for the UE 115, 800 of FIG. 2. For example, the UE 115, 800 includes a controller / processor 280 that operates to execute logic or computer instructions stored in memory 282 as well as to control the components of the UE 115 that provide the features and functionality of the UE 115, 800. The UE 115, 800 transmits and receives signals via wireless radios 801a-r and antennas 252a-r under the control of the controller / processor 280. The wireless radios 801a-r include various components and hardware as shown in FIG. 2 for the UE 115. It includes the modulators / demodulators 254a-r, the MIMO detector 256, the receive processor 258, the transmit processor 264, and the TXM IMO processor 266.
[0092]
[0102] At block 602 of process 600, a UE (e.g., UE 115, 800) determines to perform a deferral procedure for at least one repetition of a PUCCH transmission sent to a base station. To implement functionality for such operation, the UE 115 executes a procedure manager 802 stored in memory 282 under control of the controller / processor 280. The functionality implemented via the execution environment of the procedure manager 802 enables the UE 115, 800 to perform operations related to the deferral procedure in accordance with various aspects herein.
[0093]
[0103] In an aspect, determining to perform a deferral procedure for at least one repetition of a PUCCH transmission may include determining to defer a first repetition (e.g., a beginning repetition or a first occurring repetition) of the at least one repetition to a later resource (e.g., a later slot) than a resource in which a beginning repetition of the at least one repetition is initially scheduled.
[0094]
[0104] At block 604, the UE determines to perform a first slot index dependent procedure based at least in part on a resource location associated with at least one repetition of the PUCCH transmission to be transmitted to the base station. To implement functionality for such operations, the UE 115, 800 executes a procedure manager 802 stored in the memory 282 under control of the controller / processor 280. The functionality implemented through the execution environment of the procedure manager 802 enables the UE 115, 800 to perform first slot index dependent procedure related operations in accordance with various aspects herein. For example, in some aspects, determining to perform the first slot index dependent procedure may include determining to perform a HARQ feedback codebook generation procedure. In these aspects, the generation of the HARQ feedback codebook may be performed based on an index of a first slot in which at least one repetition of the PUCCH transmission is scheduled to be transmitted. In aspects, determining to perform the first slot index dependent procedure may include determining to perform an uplink transmission prioritization procedure, such as intra-UE prioritization of PUCCH repetitions, as described above. In these aspects, the UE may determine to prioritize at least one repetition of a PUCCH transmission relative to a repetition of another PUCCH transmission.
[0095]
[0105] At block 606, the UE determines an order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure. At block 608, the UE performs the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure in the order. To implement functionality for such operations, the UE 115, 800 executes a sequence manager 806 stored in the memory 282 under control of the controller / processor 280. The functionality implemented through the execution environment of the sequence manager 806 enables the UE 115 to perform sequence related operations in accordance with various aspects of the present disclosure.
[0096]
[0106] In some aspects, determining an order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure may include determining an order based on a predetermined configuration (e.g., an order configuration 808), which may define an order used by the UE to perform the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure. In some aspects, determining an order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure may include receiving a configuration message from the base station, where the configuration message may include an indication of the order used by the UE to perform the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure.
[0097]
[0107] In aspects, determining an order for performing the deferral procedure and the first slot index dependent procedure may include determining to perform the deferral procedure before the first slot index dependent procedure, determining to perform the deferral procedure after the first slot index dependent procedure, or determining a type of the first slot index dependent procedure and determining an order based on the type of the first slot index dependent procedure. In some aspects, if the order may be based on the type of the first slot index dependent procedure, the UE may determine to perform the first slot index dependent procedure before the deferral procedure if the type of the first slot index dependent procedure is a feedback reporting related procedure (e.g., a HARQ feedback codebook generation procedure). In some aspects, if the order may be based on the type of the first slot index dependent procedure, the UE may determine to perform the first slot index dependent procedure after the deferral procedure if the type of the first slot index dependent procedure is an uplink transmission prioritization procedure (e.g., a procedure for prioritizing UCI of a PUCCH transmission over UCI of another repeated PUCCH transmission).
[0098]

To implement functionality for such operations, the base station 105, 900 executes a sequence manager 902 stored in memory 242 under control of the controller / processor 240. The functionality implemented through the execution environment of the sequence manager 902 enables the base station 105, 900 to perform sequence related operations in accordance with various aspects herein.
