Summary of the Invention
Problems to be Solved by the Invention
[0004] By the way, a toothbrush is used by being held by hand by a user, but the hand size varies depending on the gender, age, height, etc. of the user. However, conventional toothbrushes were only roughly classified into types such as for children and for adults. Therefore, it was not a toothbrush suitable for the user, and it could not be said that excessive brushing pressure during use was sufficiently suppressed.
[0005] The present invention provides a toothbrush suitable for a user and a method for manufacturing the same, which can suppress excessive brushing pressure and control it to an appropriate brushing pressure during use.
Means for Solving the Problems
[0006] A toothbrush according to one aspect of the present invention includes a first member having a handle portion, and a second member having a head portion and a neck portion provided with bristles. The first member and the second member are configured to be detachable from each other. The length of the handle portion of the first member is set based on the length of the user's palm.
[0007] According to the above toothbrush, the length of the handle portion of the first member, which is the portion held by the user's hand, is set based on the length of the user's palm. Therefore, the length of the handle portion becomes a length suitable for the user, and it becomes easy for the user to hold. As a result, during use (brushing teeth), excessive brushing pressure can be suppressed and appropriate brushing pressure can be controlled.
[0008] In addition, the first member and the second member are configured to be detachable from each other. Therefore, the first member having a handle portion customized according to the user can be attached to the second member. Also, the first member and the second member can be replaced according to the user. This facilitates customization according to the user.
[0009] In the above toothbrush, the rear end portion of the handle portion of the first member may have a triangular cross section orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the handle portion. In this case, the rear end portion of the handle portion can be held by three fingers, namely, the thumb, the index finger, and the middle finger. As a result, during use, excessive brushing pressure can be further suppressed and it becomes easier to control appropriate brushing pressure.
[0010] Further, the length of the neck portion of the second member may be set based on the length of the user's middle finger. In this case, the length of the neck portion becomes a length suitable for the user, and it becomes easy for the user to use. As a result, during use, excessive brushing pressure can be further suppressed and it becomes easier to control appropriate brushing pressure.
[0011] Further, the second member may include a head portion and have an inclined portion that inclines toward the back side of the toothbrush so as to form an angle of 10° or more and 30° or less with respect to the longitudinal direction of the handle portion. In this case, the head portion provided with the brush can be inclined with respect to the handle portion. Thereby, during use, excessive brushing pressure can be further suppressed, and it becomes easier to control the brushing pressure to an appropriate level.
[0012] Also, the length of the brush of the head portion of the second member may be a length set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. In this case, the brush of the head portion is adapted to the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. Thereby, in addition to the first member, the second member can also be customized according to the user. Further, during use, the effect of suppressing excessive brushing pressure and being able to control the brushing pressure to an appropriate level can be further exerted.
[0013] Also, the hardness of the brush of the head portion of the second member may be a hardness set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity.
[0014] A method for manufacturing a toothbrush, which is another aspect of the present invention, includes a measuring step of measuring the length of the user's palm, a first preparation step of preparing a first member having a handle portion, a second preparation step of preparing a second member having a head portion provided with a brush and a neck portion, and an attachment step of attaching the first member and the second member. The length of the handle portion of the first member prepared in the first preparation step is set based on the length of the user's palm measured in the measuring step.
[0015] According to the method for manufacturing the toothbrush described above, in the first preparation step, a first member having a handle portion, which is the portion held by the user by hand, is prepared. At this time, the length of the handle portion is set to be the length based on the length of the user's palm measured in the measurement step. Therefore, the length of the handle portion becomes a length suitable for the user, and it becomes easy for the user to hold. As a result, during use, a toothbrush that can suppress excessive brushing pressure and control it to an appropriate brushing pressure can be obtained.
[0016] Also, in the first preparation step, the first member having the handle portion can be easily customized according to the user. And in the attachment step, the first member customized according to the user is attached to the second member. As a result, a toothbrush customized according to the user can be easily obtained.
[0017] In the method for manufacturing the toothbrush described above, the rear end portion of the handle portion of the first member may have a triangular cross-section orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the handle portion. In this case, as described above, during use, a toothbrush that can further suppress excessive brushing pressure and is easier to control to an appropriate brushing pressure can be obtained.
[0018] Also, in the measurement step, further, the length of the middle finger of the user's hand is measured, and the length of the neck portion of the second member prepared in the second preparation step may be set to be the length based on the length of the middle finger of the user's hand measured in the measurement step. In this case, the length of the neck portion becomes a length suitable for the user, and it becomes easy for the user to use. As a result, during use, a toothbrush that can further suppress excessive brushing pressure and is easier to control to an appropriate brushing pressure can be obtained.
[0019] Further, the second member may include a head portion and have an inclined portion that inclines toward the back side of the toothbrush so as to form an angle of 10° or more and 30° or less with respect to the longitudinal direction of the handle portion. In this case, as described above, a toothbrush that can effectively exhibit the effect of suppressing excessive brushing pressure and controlling it to an appropriate brushing pressure during use can be obtained.
[0020] Also, the length of the brush of the head portion of the second member prepared in the second preparation step may be a length set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. In this case, the brush of the head portion will be adapted to the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. Thereby, in addition to the first member, the second member can also be easily customized according to the user.
[0021] Also, the hardness of the brush of the head portion of the second member prepared in the second preparation step may be a hardness set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. In this case, the brush of the head portion will be adapted to the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. Thereby, in addition to the first member, the second member can also be easily customized according to the user.

The neck portion 4 is provided between the head portion 3 and the first member 11 (handle portion 2). The rear end portion 401 of the neck portion 4 is connected to the first member 11.
[0029] The second member 12 has an inclined portion 121 that is inclined toward the back side of the toothbrush 1 with respect to the longitudinal direction B of the handle portion 2. The inclined portion 121 is constituted by a portion of the second member 12 excluding the rear end portion 401 of the neck portion 4. That is, the inclined portion 121 is configured to include a portion of the head portion 3 and the neck portion 4 excluding the rear end portion 401.
[0030] The inclined portion 121 extends from the rear end portion 401 of the neck portion 4 extending in the longitudinal direction B of the handle portion 2 and bends and extends toward the back side of the toothbrush 1. The inclined portion 121 is formed in a thin plate shape having a predetermined thickness. The inclined portion 121 is inclined toward the back side of the toothbrush 1 so as to form an angle D with respect to the longitudinal direction B of the handle portion 2. In the present embodiment, the inclination angle D of the inclined portion 121 is 20°. Also, the inclination angle D of the inclined portion 121 is constant throughout the inclined portion 121. Note that the inclination angle D of the inclined portion 121 can be in the range of 10° or more and 30° or less.
[0031] The head portion 3 is provided with a brush surface 301. The brush surface 301 is formed on the front side of the toothbrush 1. Similar to the inclined portion 121, the brush surface 301 is inclined at an angle D with respect to the longitudinal direction B of the handle portion 2.
[0032] The brush surface 301 of the head portion 3 is provided with a brush 31. The brush 31 is composed of a plurality of tufts 311. The plurality of tufts 311 are implanted in a plurality of circular recesses provided on the brush surface 301. The tuft 311 is formed by bundling a plurality of hairs having a predetermined thickness. In the present embodiment, the brush 31 is provided (the tufts 311 are implanted) in the entire region of the brush surface 301 of the head portion 3. As the material of the brush 31, nylon, saturated polyester resin (PBT), etc. can be used.
[0033] As shown in FIG. 3, the length E of the neck portion 4 is a length set based on the length of the middle finger of the user's hand. That is, the neck portion 4 is adjusted to a length that matches the length of the middle finger of the user's hand. Note that the setting of the length E of the neck portion 4 will be described later.
[0034] In the present embodiment, the length E of the neck portion 4 is the combined length (E = e1 + e2) of the axial length e1 of the rear end portion 401 of the neck portion 4 and the axial length e2 of the portion of the inclined portion 121 that is part of the neck portion 4.
[0035] Also, the length F of the brush 31 of the head portion 3 is a length set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. The length F of the brush 31 is the length from the brush surface 301 of the head portion 3. That is, the length F of the brush 31 refers to the length (height) of the portion that is exposed from the brush surface 301 of the head portion 3.
[0036] Further, the hardness of the brush 31 of the head portion 3 is a hardness set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. The hardness of the brush 31 can be adjusted according to the thickness of the bristles of the brush 31. By making the bristles of the brush 31 thinner, the hardness of the brush 31 becomes softer, and by making the bristles of the brush 31 thicker, the hardness of the brush 31 becomes harder.
[0037] That is, the length F and hardness of the brush 31 of the head portion 3 are adjusted to the length and hardness suitable for the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. Note that the setting of the length F and hardness of the brush 31 will be described later.
[0038] As shown in FIG. 5, a connecting recess 22 for connecting the second member 12 is provided at the tip end portion 201 of the handle portion 2 of the first member 11. The connecting recess 22 is provided so as to be recessed from the front end surface of the tip end portion 201 of the handle portion 2.
[0039] A connecting projection 41 for connecting the first member 11 is provided at the rear end portion 401 of the neck portion 4 of the second member 12. The connecting projection 41 is provided so as to protrude from the rear end surface of the rear end portion 401 of the neck portion 4.
[0040] By inserting the connecting projection 41 of the neck portion 4 of the second member 12 into the connecting recess 22 of the handle portion 2 of the first member 11 or pulling out the connecting projection 41 of the neck portion 4 of the second member 12 from the connecting recess 22 of the handle portion 2 of the first member 11, the first member 11 and the second member 12 can be attached and detached. That is, the first member 11 and the second member 12 are configured to be detachable. Note that, as the connecting mechanism and the attaching / detaching mechanism between the first member 11 and the second member 12, other conventionally known mechanisms or the like may be used.
[0041] Next, the usage method of the toothbrush 1 of the present embodiment will be described. As shown in FIG. 6, the user brushes their teeth while holding the rear end portion 202 of the handle portion 2 of the toothbrush 1 with their dominant hand (the right hand in FIG. 6).
[0042] Specifically, at the rear end portion 202 of the handle portion 2 of the toothbrush 1, the first side surface 211 is supported by the thumb of the dominant hand, the third side surface 213 is supported by the index finger, and the second side surface 212 is supported by the middle finger. Then, brushing is performed while holding the rear end portion 202 of the handle portion 2 of the toothbrush 1 with three fingers, namely, the thumb, index finger, and middle finger of the dominant hand.
[0043] Next, a method for manufacturing (customizing) the toothbrush 1 of the present embodiment will be described. First, a measurement step is performed. In the measurement step, as shown in FIG. 7, the length g1 of the palm of the user's dominant hand (the hand holding the toothbrush 1, which is the right hand in FIG. 7) and the length g2 of the middle finger of the hand are measured. The length g1 of the palm of the user is the length obtained by subtracting the length g2 of the middle finger of the hand from the length G of the user's hand (so-called hand length) (g1 = G - g2). In other words, the length G of the user's hand is the combined length of the length g1 of the palm of the user and the length g2 of the middle finger of the user (G = g1 + g2). Note that the length G of the user's hand is the distance from the tip of the middle finger to the wrinkles of the wrist.
[0044] Next, a first preparation step of preparing the first member 11 is performed. The length C of the handle portion 2 of the first member 11 prepared in the first preparation step is set based on the length g1 of the palm of the user measured in the measurement step. That is, the length of the handle portion 2 is selected to match the length of the palm of the user, and the first member 11 having the handle portion 2 of the selected length is prepared. Thereby, the first member 11 is customized according to the user.
[0045] Here, the length C of the handle portion 2 is preferably the same as the length g1 of the palm of the user. The length C of the handle portion 2 may be the same as the length g1 of the palm of the user, or the length may be adjusted stepwise based on the length g1 of the palm of the user.
[0046] In this embodiment, when the length C of the handle portion 2 is such that the length g1 of the user's palm exceeds 70 mm and is 75 mm or less, it is 75 mm; when it exceeds 75 mm and is 80 mm or less, it is 80 mm; when it exceeds 80 mm and is 85 mm or less, it is 85 mm; when it exceeds 85 mm and is 90 mm or less, it is 90 mm; when it exceeds 90 mm and is 95 mm or less, it is 95 mm; when it exceeds 95 mm and is 100 mm or less, it is 100 mm; and when it exceeds 100 mm and is 105 mm or less, it is 105 mm.
[0047] Next, a second preparation step of preparing the second member 12 is performed. The length E (= e1 + e2) of the neck portion 4 of the second member 12 prepared in the second preparation step is set based on the length g2 of the user's middle finger measured in the measurement step. That is, the length of the neck portion 4 is selected according to the length of the user's middle finger, and the second member 12 having the neck portion 4 of the selected length is prepared. Thereby, the second member 12 is customized according to the user.
[0048] Here, the length E of the neck portion 4 is preferably the same as the length g2 of the user's middle finger. The length E of the neck portion 4 may be the same as the length g2 of the user's middle finger, or the length may be adjusted stepwise based on the length g2 of the user's middle finger.
[0049] In this embodiment, when the length g2 of the user's middle finger exceeds 50 mm and is 55 mm or less, the length E of the neck portion 4 is 55 mm; when it exceeds 55 mm and is 60 mm or less, it is 60 mm; when it exceeds 60 mm and is 65 mm or less, it is 65 mm; when it exceeds 65 mm and is 70 mm or less, it is 70 mm; when it exceeds 70 mm and is 75 mm or less, it is 75 mm; when it exceeds 75 mm and is 80 mm or less, it is 80 mm; and when it exceeds 80 mm and is 85 mm or less, it is 85 mm.
[0050] Also, the length F of the brush 31 of the head portion 3 of the second member 12 prepared in the second preparation step shall be a length set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. Also, the hardness of the brush 31 of the head portion 3 of the second member 12 prepared in the second preparation step shall be a hardness set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. The hardness of the brush 31 is adjusted by the thickness of the bristles of the brush 31.
[0051] That is, in the second preparation step, the length and hardness of the brush 31 of the head portion 3 of the second member 12 are selected according to the symptoms in the user's oral cavity, and the second member 12 having the selected length and hardness of the brush 31 is prepared. Thereby, the second member 12 is customized according to the user.
[0052] Here, examples of the symptoms in the user's oral cavity include eruptive gingivitis, puberty gingivitis, juvenile periodontitis, mild periodontitis, moderate periodontitis, advanced periodontitis, after surgical treatment (tooth extraction, etc.), pericoronitis of wisdom teeth, tooth hypersensitivity, etc.
[0053] In the present embodiment, the length F of the brush 31 is 9 mm when the symptoms in the user's oral cavity are eruptive gingivitis, and 8 mm when the symptoms are advanced periodontitis or after surgical treatment (tooth extraction, etc.). Also, the hardness of the brush 31 is set to be firm with the bristle thickness of the brush 31 being 5 mils when the symptoms in the user's oral cavity are eruptive gingivitis, and soft with the bristle thickness of the brush 31 being 4 mils in the cases of after surgical treatment (tooth extraction, etc.), advanced periodontitis, and tooth hypersensitivity.
[0054] Next, an attachment step of attaching the first member 11 and the second member 12 is performed. In the attachment step, the connecting convex portion 41 of the neck portion 4 of the second member 12 is inserted into the connecting concave portion 22 of the handle portion 2 of the first member 11, and the first member 11 and the second member 12 are attached. Thereby, the toothbrush 1 customized according to the user is obtained.
[0055] As described above, according to the manufacturing method of the toothbrush 1 of the present embodiment, a toothbrush 1 customized according to the user can be obtained. For example, when a child is in the mixed dentition stage, since deciduous teeth and permanent teeth are mixed, the toothbrush 1 for self-brushing and the toothbrush 1 for caregiver's finishing brushing can be customized according to the situation.
[0056] For example, for the toothbrush 1 for self-brushing, the length C of the handle portion 2 is 85 mm based on the length g1 of the palm of the user (the child himself / herself), and the length E of the neck portion 4 is 65 mm based on the length g2 of the middle finger of the user's hand. The length F of the brush 31 and the thickness (hardness) of the bristles are 9 mm and 5 mils, respectively. For the toothbrush 1 for caregiver's finishing brushing, the length C of the handle portion 2 is 90 mm based on the length g1 of the palm of the user (the caregiver), and the length E of the neck portion 4 is 70 mm based on the length g2 of the middle finger of the user's hand. The length F of the brush 31 and the thickness (hardness) of the bristles are 8 mm and 4 mils, respectively.
[0057] Next, the operation and effect of the toothbrush 1 and its manufacturing method (customization method) of the present embodiment will be described. According to the toothbrush 1 of the present embodiment, the length C of the handle portion 2 of the first member 11, which is the portion held by the user by hand, is set based on the length g1 of the palm of the user. Therefore, the length C of the handle portion 2 becomes a length suitable for the user, and it becomes easy for the user to hold. As a result, during use (while brushing teeth), excessive brushing pressure can be suppressed and controlled to an appropriate brushing pressure.
[0058] In addition, the first member 11 and the second member 12 are configured to be detachable. Therefore, the first member 11 having a handle portion 2 customized according to the user can be attached to the second member 12. Also, the first member 11 and the second member 12 can be replaced according to the user. This facilitates customization according to the user.
[0059] In addition, in the toothbrush 1 of the present embodiment, the rear end portion 202 of the handle portion 2 of the first member 11 has a triangular cross-section orthogonal to the longitudinal direction B of the handle portion 2. Therefore, the rear end portion 202 of the handle portion 2 can be held by three fingers, namely, the thumb, index finger, and middle finger. As a result, during use, excessive brushing pressure can be further suppressed, and it becomes easier to control the brushing pressure to an appropriate level.
[0060] Further, the second member 12 includes a head portion 3 and has an inclined portion 121 that is inclined toward the back side of the toothbrush 1 so as to form an angle (angle D) of 20° with respect to the longitudinal direction B of the handle portion 2. Therefore, the head portion 3 provided with the brush 31 can be inclined with respect to the handle portion 2. As a result, during use, excessive brushing pressure can be further suppressed, and it becomes easier to control the brushing pressure to an appropriate level.
[0061] In addition, the length E of the neck portion 4 of the second member 12 is a length set based on the length g2 of the middle finger of the user's hand. Therefore, the length E of the neck portion 4 becomes a length suitable for the user, and the toothbrush becomes easy for the user to use. As a result, during use, excessive brushing pressure can be further suppressed, and it becomes easier to control the brushing pressure to an appropriate level.
[0062] In addition, the length F and hardness (thickness of the bristles) of the brush 31 of the head portion 3 of the second member 12 are lengths and hardnesses set based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. Therefore, the brush 31 of the head portion 3 is adapted to the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. As a result, in addition to the first member 11, the second member 12 can also be customized according to the user. Further, during use, the effect of suppressing excessive brushing pressure and being able to control the brushing pressure to an appropriate level can be further exerted.
[0063] Furthermore, according to the manufacturing method of the toothbrush 1 of the present embodiment, in the first preparation step, a first member 11 having a handle portion 2 which is a portion held by the user by hand is prepared. At this time, the length C of the handle portion 2 is set to be a length based on the length g1 of the user's palm measured in the measurement step. Therefore, the length C of the handle portion 2 becomes a length suitable for the user, and the toothbrush 1 becomes easy for the user to hold. As a result, during use, an excessive brushing pressure can be suppressed, and a toothbrush 1 that can be controlled to an appropriate brushing pressure can be obtained.
[0064] Also, in the first preparation step, the first member 11 having the handle portion 2 can be easily customized according to the user. And in the attachment step, the first member 11 customized according to the user is attached to the second member 12. As a result, a toothbrush 1 customized according to the user can be easily obtained.
[0065] Also, in the manufacturing method of the toothbrush 1 of the present embodiment, the length E of the neck portion 4 of the second member 12 prepared in the second preparation step is set to be a length based on the length g2 of the user's middle finger measured in the measurement step. Therefore, the length E of the neck portion 4 becomes a length suitable for the user, and the toothbrush 1 becomes easy to use. As a result, during use, an excessive brushing pressure can be further suppressed, and a toothbrush 1 that can be easily controlled to an appropriate brushing pressure can be obtained.
[0066] Also, the length F and hardness (thickness of the bristles) of the brush 31 of the head portion 3 of the second member 12 prepared in the second preparation step are set to be a length and hardness based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. Therefore, the brush 31 of the head portion 3 becomes suitable for the symptoms in the user's oral cavity. As a result, in addition to the first member 11, the second member 12 can also be easily customized according to the user.
[0067] (Other embodiments) The present invention is not limited to the above-described embodiments, and it goes without saying that the present invention can be implemented in various forms without departing from the scope of the present invention.
[0068] (1) In the above embodiment, the handle portion 2 of the first member 11 has a triangular cross section orthogonal to the longitudinal direction B of the handle portion 2 throughout the entire portion including the rear end portion 202. However, as long as at least the rear end portion of the handle portion has a triangular cross section orthogonal to the longitudinal direction of the handle portion, it is sufficient.
[0069] (2) In the above embodiment, the inclined portion 121 is provided on the second member 12. However, for example, as shown in FIG. 8, a configuration may be adopted in which the inclined portion is not provided on the second member 12, and the head portion 3 and the neck portion 4 are provided so as to extend linearly in the longitudinal direction B of the handle portion 2. In this case, the length E of the neck portion 4 is the axial length of the neck portion 4.
[0070] (3) In the above embodiment, a part of the second member 12, specifically, a portion excluding the rear end portion 401 of the neck portion 4 of the second member 12 is configured as the inclined portion 121. However, the entire second member may be configured as the inclined portion.
[0071] (4) In the above embodiment, the inclination angle D of the inclined portion 121 of the second member 12 is constant throughout the entire inclined portion 121. However, the inclination angle of the inclined portion may be partially or stepwise changed. For example, the inclination angle may be changed between the head portion (brush surface) and the neck portion.
[0072] (5) In the above embodiment, the head portion 3 and the neck portion 4 of the second member 12 are integrally formed. However, the head portion and the neck portion may be formed of separate members. Further, when the head portion and the neck portion are formed of separate members, the head portion and the neck portion may be configured to be detachable.
[0073] (6) In the above-described embodiment, the brush 31 is provided in the entire area of the brush surface 301 of the head portion 3. However, the brush may be provided in a partial area of the brush surface of the head portion. Also, various changes may be made to the shape, type, material, etc. of the brush provided on the brush surface. At this time, the changes may be made based on the symptoms in the user's oral cavity.
[0074] (7) The functions of one component in the above-described embodiment may be distributed as a plurality of components, or the functions of a plurality of components may be integrated into one component. Also, a part of the configuration of the above-described embodiment may be omitted. Further, at least a part of the configuration of the above-described embodiment may be added to, replaced with, etc. the configuration of another of the above-described embodiments. Note that all aspects included in the technical idea specified from the language described in the claims are embodiments of the present invention.
