Description

Technical Field

[0001] The present invention relates to an eyelid spasm reliever.

Background Art

[0002] Blepharospasm is a disease in which involuntary eyelid closure occurs due to excessive contraction of the orbicularis oculi muscle. The symptoms begin with excessive blinking and a sense of discomfort in the eyes, and when they worsen, it becomes difficult to open the eyelids, making it difficult to drive or walk and causing obstacles to daily life. The first choice for the treatment of blepharospasm is Botox injection. This treatment has the effect of making it easier to open the eyelids by suppressing the movement of the muscles. However, the effect of Botox is limited to several months, and patients are highly dissatisfied with the need to continue injections over a long period.

[0003] On the other hand, some devices have been reported to relieve the symptoms of blepharospasm by utilizing the phenomenon of "sensory trick" in which pressing strongly on the outer part of the eyebrows, the temporal region, the cheek, etc. in blepharospasm makes it easier to open the eyelids (for example, Non-Patent Documents 1 and 2).

[0004] Non-Patent Document 1 describes an eyelid spasm reliever in which a metal fitting is attached to the temple part of glasses and the temporal region is compressed with a ball-shaped metal fitting.

[0005] Non-Patent Document 2 describes an eyelid spasm reliever in which a metal fitting is attached to the temple part of glasses in the same manner as Non-Patent Document 1, and a metal fitting with silicon is further attached between the temporal region.

Summary of the Invention

Problems to be Solved by the Invention

[0007] The above-mentioned blepharospasm reliever has problems that it is difficult to obtain an appropriate pressing intensity or press at an appropriate position because the glasses are deformed by the stress of the metal fittings. In addition, there is also a problem that it is difficult to use daily because it is necessary to wear glasses and it is conspicuous in appearance.

[0008] Therefore, there is a need for a blepharospasm reliever that is easy to use daily and can effectively relieve the symptoms of blepharospasm.

Means for Solving the Problems

[0009] The characteristic configuration of the blepharospasm reliever according to the present invention is a blepharospasm reliever that relieves blepharospasm, and is composed of an annular body having flexibility with both ends open, and an instrument body mounted on the head, and a pair of pressing parts protruding from the instrument body and pressing the temporal region, and the instrument body has a central part extending along the head and a pair of extending parts extending from the central part toward the temporal region, and is provided with a local pressing structure for locally pressing the temporal region.

[0010] According to this configuration, in the instrument body, since a pair of extending portions extend from the central portion extending along the head, a part of the central portion or the extending portions and the pair of pressing portions come into contact with the head, and the eyelid spasm reliever is likely to be fixed to the head. For this reason, it becomes possible to stably press the temporal region by the eyelid spasm reliever. And since it has a local pressing structure for locally pressing the temporal region, it is possible to appropriately press the temporal region without pressing a region other than the region to be pressed more than necessary. Further, since the central portion is arranged along the head and the pressing portions are brought into contact with the temporal regions for mounting, the attachment and detachment are simple, and there is no need to use other tools such as glasses in combination. Furthermore, since the eyelid spasm reliever in this configuration can be worn like a cushion, it is not conspicuous in appearance and can be used in daily life. Therefore, it is an eyelid spasm reliever that is easy to use daily and can effectively relieve the symptoms of eyelid spasm.

[0011] Another aspect of the present invention is that the local pressing structure is such that the pair of extending portions has a pair of arcuate portions connected to the central portion and a pair of curved portions whose distance from each other decreases toward the both ends from the pair of arcuate portions.

[0012] According to this configuration, in the instrument body, the distance between the pair of curved portions is configured to decrease as it approaches the both ends from the central portion. Therefore, for example, when the eyelid spasm reliever is attached to the head, the pair of curved portions are deformed so that the distance between the pair of curved portions expands. As a result, a force (restoring force) that tries to return to the original state acts on the pair of curved portions in the inner direction of the instrument body, which is an annular body. Since a pressing portion that protrudes from the instrument body toward the inside of the instrument body is provided on the pair of curved portions, by bringing the pressing portion into contact with the temporal region, the restoring force of the instrument body is transmitted to the temporal region via the pressing portion. As a result, it has a structure in which the temporal region can be locally pressed by the restoring force acting on the curved portion.

[0013] Another aspect of the present invention is that the curvature of the curved portion gradually decreases toward the both ends.

[0014] According to this configuration, since the curvature gradually decreases toward both ends, the separation distance between the pair of curved portions can be gradually changed toward both ends. As a result, the wearability of the eyelid spasm reliever can be improved, and contact between the user's head and both ends can be suppressed. Moreover, if the curved portions are formed so that the curvature gradually decreases toward both ends, the device body deforms so as to creak, so that the pressing force on the temporal region can be increased.

[0015] Another aspect of the present invention lies in that the central portion has a linear shape connected to the pair of arcuate portions.

[0016] According to this configuration, since the central portion has a linear shape connected to the pair of arcuate portions, it is easy to bring the central portion into contact with the head. Further, when the pair of extending portions are deformed so that the separation distance between the pair of curved portions increases, compressive stresses in opposite directions act on the central portion from the pair of extending portions, respectively, so that these compressive stresses are canceled out at the central portion. In particular, since the central portion has a linear shape, it is possible to absorb compressive stress over the entire central portion rather than at the apex of the arc shape, as compared with the case where the central portion has an arc shape. As a result, damage to the central portion due to repeated detachment and attachment of the eyelid spasm reliever can be suppressed, and the durability of the eyelid spasm reliever can be improved.

[0017] Another aspect of the present invention lies in that the local pressing structure has a flat surface at the tip of the pressing portion for pressing the temporal region.

[0018] According to this configuration, since a contact surface between the temporal region and the pressing portion is formed, it is possible to ensure an appropriate pressing strength of the pressing portion against the temporal region. Therefore, it is possible to press the temporal region with an appropriate pressing strength.

[0019] Another aspect of the present invention lies in that the pressing portion is formed as a movable member that is externally inserted into the instrument body and whose relative position in the instrument body can be adjusted.

[0020] According to this configuration, since the relative position of the pressing portion in the instrument body can be adjusted, it is possible to locally press the temporal region according to the size of the user's head and the position of the temporal region of the blepharospasm reliever.

Embodiments for Carrying Out the Invention

[0022] Hereinafter, embodiments of the blepharospasm reliever according to the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings. However, the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments, and various modifications are possible without departing from the gist thereof.

[0023] FIG. 1 is a plan view of the blepharospasm reliever 1. The blepharospasm reliever 1 includes an instrument body 2 and a pair of pressing portions 3 protruding from the instrument body 2. The user can wear the instrument body 2 on the head and bring the pressing portion 3 into contact with the temporal region to obtain an appropriate pressing force against the temporal region (see FIGS. 3 and 4). In the following embodiments, as an example of the “temporal region”, the “cheekbone” will be described as an example.

[0024] The appliance body 2 is formed of a flexible annular body with openings at both ends 20 thereof. The material of the flexible annular body is not particularly limited. For example, resin materials such as acrylic resin, epoxy resin, and polyester resin, metal materials such as titanium, nickel alloy, stainless steel, and aluminum, glass fibers such as glass fiber, carbon fibers such as carbon fiber, nanocellulose fiber, aramid fiber, bamboo, etc. can be used. The appliance body 2 may be formed of one type of material, or may be formed by combining a plurality of materials. The resin material may contain a reinforcing agent for enhancing its rigidity, for example, plate-shaped reinforcing agents such as mica and glass frame, powdery reinforcing agents such as talc, and needle-shaped reinforcing agents such as wollastonite.

[0025] The appliance body 2 has a central portion 4 that contacts the back or upper surface of the head when the eyelid spasm reliever 1 is worn on the head, and a pair of extending portions 5, 5 that extend from the central portion 4 toward the temples (an example of the temporal region). The central portion 4 in the present embodiment has a linear shape, but the central portion 4 may be arc-shaped. When the central portion 4 has a linear shape, it is easy to bring the central portion 4 into contact with the head. The length of the central portion 4 is preferably set according to the size of the user's head. Note that the central portion 4 may not be in contact with the head. In this case, for example, a form in which the pair of extending portions 5, 5 are brought into contact with the ears or the like can be considered.

[0026] The pair of extending portions 5, 5 are composed of a pair of arc-shaped portions 51, 51 connected to the central portion 4 and a pair of curved portions 53, 53 connected to the pair of arc-shaped portions 51, 51. The curvature of the arc-shaped portion 51 is preferably set according to the size of the user's head.

[0027] The distance between the pair of curved portions 53, 53 is configured to decrease from the arcuate portion 51 toward both end portions 20. The curved portion 53 may have a constant curvature, or may be configured such that the curvature gradually decreases toward both end portions 20. Since the curved portion 53 in the present embodiment is configured such that the curvature gradually decreases toward both end portions 20, the distance between the pair of curved portions 53, 53 gradually changes more gently toward both end portions 20. Thereby, the wearability of the eyelid spasm reliever 1 can be enhanced, and contact between the user's head and both end portions 20 can be suppressed.

[0028] The pair of both end portions 20, 20 are in a state where they are substantially opposed to each other in the inner direction of the instrument main body 2. The distance between the pair of both end portions 20, 20 may be, for example, 0 mm to 100 mm. The pair of both end portions 20, 20 may be in contact with each other.

[0029] When the eyelid spasm reliever 1 is attached to the user's head, the pair of curved portions 53, 53 are in a state of being expanded in a direction in which the distance therebetween increases. Therefore, a force (restoring force) that tries to return in the inner direction of the instrument main body 2, which is an annular body, acts on the pair of curved portions 53, 53 made of a flexible material. When this restoring force is transmitted to the forehead via the pressing portion 3, the forehead is pressed. Further, since the curvature of the curved portion 53 gradually decreases toward both end portions 20, the instrument main body 2 deforms so as to bend, and the distance between the pair of pressing portions 3, 3 changes following this deformation. Therefore, a restoring force corresponding to the change can also be made to act on the forehead. As a result, a gentle pressing change of the pressing portion 3 can be realized. Note that, since the greater the restoring force, the greater the force pressing the forehead, the magnitude of the restoring force may be adjusted by reducing the distance between the pair of curved portions 53, 53 or increasing the cross-sectional area of the curved portion 53.

[0030] When a pair of curved portions 53, 53 are deformed respectively, the stress applied to the curved portion 53 is transmitted as compressive stress to the central portion 4 via the arcuate portion 51. In the central portion 4, compressive stresses in opposite directions are transmitted from the pair of arcuate portions 51, 51 respectively, so these compressive stresses cancel each other out and are absorbed. In particular, when the central portion 4 is linear, compared with the case where the central portion 4 is arcuate, it is possible to absorb compressive stress over the entire central portion 4 rather than at the apex of the arc of the central portion 4. For this reason, breakage of the central portion 4 due to long-term use of the blepharospasm reliever 1 can be suppressed, and the durability of the blepharospasm reliever 1 can be improved.

[0031] Also, the arcuate portion 51 is also deformed so as to spread in the outer direction of the instrument body 2 in response to the stress transmitted from the linear portion 52. For this reason, the stress transmitted from the linear portion 52 does not concentrate at one point of the arcuate portion 51, and stress dispersion can be achieved. As a result, since the stress can be efficiently transmitted from the linear portion 52 toward the central portion 4, it is possible to suppress breakage of the instrument body 2 due to stress concentration.

[0032] The lengths of the pair of extending portions 5, 5 are preferably substantially the same respectively, and the lengths of the pair of arcuate portions 51, 51 and the lengths of the pair of curved portions 53, 53 are preferably substantially the same respectively. Also, the curvatures of the pair of curved portions 53, 53 may be substantially the same respectively, or may have different curvatures from each other. If the curvatures of the pair of curved portions 53, 53 are substantially the same, the instrument body 2 is formed symmetrically about a virtual line (the broken line in FIG. 1) connecting the center of the central portion 4 and the centers of the both end portions 20, 20 in plan view. As a result, the restoring force acting on the pair of curved portions 53, 53 is evenly transmitted to the pair of pressing portions 3, 3. Therefore, for example, it becomes possible to evenly press the user's left and right cheeks.

[0033] As shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, the instrument body 2 is formed to have a length that can be worn on the back of the head or the top of the head. Therefore, the lengths of the central portion 4 and the pair of extending portions 5, 5 may be determined according to the size of the user's head. Further, the cross-sectional shape of the instrument body 2 is not particularly limited, and for example, rod-shaped bodies of various shapes such as circular, elliptical, and polygonal can be selected. The instrument body 2 may be a rod-shaped body with a uniform shape as a whole, or may be a combination of rod-shaped bodies with different shapes in part. Also, the thickness and width of the instrument body 2 may be uniform as a whole or may be different in part. The cross-sectional shape of the instrument body 2 in the present embodiment is substantially rectangular, and one side inside the annular body of the instrument body 2 and one side outside the annular body are longer than the other sides (see FIG. 2). Thereby, since the contact area between the head and the instrument body 2 can be increased, the eyelid spasm reliever 1 is easily fixed to the head. Note that both ends 20 of the instrument body 2 may be chamfered so as not to have corners.

[0034] As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a pair of pressing portions 3, 3 for pressing the temples project from the inner surface of the instrument body 2. Specifically, the pair of pressing portions 3, 3 project from a pair of curved portions 53, 53 in the pair of extending portions 5, 5, respectively. The cross-sectional shape of the pressing portion 3, which is a plane parallel to the inner surface of the instrument body 2, may be circular or elliptical, or may be polygonal such as quadrilateral or pentagonal. The cross-sectional shape in the present embodiment is rectangular. The smaller the cross-sectional area of the pressing portion 3 in the plane parallel to the inner surface of the instrument body 2, the less conspicuous the pressing portion 3 becomes, and the greater the pressing strength for pressing the temples. Therefore, the cross-sectional area of the pressing portion 3 may be appropriately determined according to the required pressing strength.

[0035] The pressing part 3 may be provided so as to protrude 5 mm to 20 mm from the inner surface of the instrument body 2. Thereby, contact between the both end parts 20 and the curved part 53 and the periphery of the temple can be suppressed, so that only the pressing part 3 contacts the temple. As a result, most of the restoring force of the pair of curved parts 53, 53 can be transmitted to the temple via the pair of pressing parts 3, 3, and the temple can be locally pressed. Note that, the closer the pressing part 3 is provided to the position near the both end parts 20, the smaller the separation distance between the pair of pressing parts 3, 3 can be made. Therefore, the position of the pressing part 3 in the curved part 53 may be set so as to obtain an appropriate pressing strength.

[0036] As shown in FIG. 2, the pressing part 3 is configured in a conical shape whose diameter decreases as it approaches the instrument body 2 (or as it approaches the temple when the eyelid spasm reliever 1 is worn). A flat pressing surface 30 is formed at the tip of the pressing part 3. When the pressing surface 30 abuts against the temple, the pressing surface 30 locally presses the temple. The area of the pressing surface 30 is preferably smaller than the cross-sectional area of the pressing part 3 along the inner surface of the instrument body 2. The smaller the area of the pressing surface 30, the greater the pressing strength on the temple. Therefore, the size of the pressing surface 30 may be determined according to the pressing strength required by the user. The shape of the pressing surface 30 may be circular or polygonal.

[0037] The pressing part 3 in the present embodiment is formed of a movable member 31 whose relative position in the instrument body 2 can be adjusted. The movable member 31 has a hole part 32 that can be externally inserted into the instrument body 2. The shape and size of the hole part 32 and the cross-sectional shape and size of the instrument body 2 are preferably substantially the same. Thereby, the movable member 31 can be externally inserted into the extending parts 5, 5 and the relative position can be adjusted, so that the position of the pressing part 3 can be finely adjusted according to the size of the user's head and the place to be pressed. Further, since the size of the hole part 32 and the size of the instrument body 2 are substantially the same, a frictional force acts between the movable member 31 and the extending parts 5, 5, so that the relative position of the movable member 31 can be fixed. Note that, grooves, protrusions, etc. may be formed on the inner surface of the instrument body 2 so that the frictional force acts easily.

[0038] The pressing part 3 may be formed of the same material as the instrument body 2, or may be formed of a material different from that of the instrument body 2. Further, the pressing part 3 may not have the movable member 31, or the pressing part 3 may be integrally formed with the instrument body 2.

[0039] Next, a local pressing structure for locally pressing the temples will be described. In the present embodiment, since the instrument body 2 is constituted by a flexible annular body, when the pair of curved portions 53, 53 are expanded toward the outside of the ring, a force (restoring force) to return to the original state acts on the pair of curved portions 53, 53. Further, the instrument body 2 in the present embodiment is formed such that the separation distance between the pair of curved portions 53, 53 decreases from the linear portion 52 to both end portions 20. In particular, the separation distance between the curved portions 53, 53 becomes smaller than the distance between the user's left and right temples toward the both end portions 20 from the linear portion 52. Therefore, when the eyelid spasm reliever 1 is worn, the pair of curved portions 53, 53 are in a state where the separation distance therebetween is widened, and a restoring force acts on the pair of curved portions 53, 53 toward the inner side of the instrument body 2. And since the pair of pressing parts 3, 3 protruding from the instrument body 2 are formed on the pair of curved portions 53, 53, the curved portions 53 and both end portions 20 do not come into contact with the periphery of the user's temple which is the object to be pressed. As a result, the restoring force generated in the curved portion 53 can be locally transmitted to the temple via the pressing part 3, so that the temple can be pressed with an appropriate pressing strength.

[0040] Further, since the pressing part 3 in the present embodiment is configured in a conical shape with a reduced diameter toward the temple, the temple can be further locally pressed by transmitting the restoring force to the temple via the pressing surface 30.

[0041] Fig. 3 shows an external view of the eyelid spasm reliever 1 attached to the back of the user's head, and Fig. 4 shows an external view of the eyelid spasm reliever 1 attached to the top of the user's head. Since the eyelid spasm reliever 1 in the present invention is shaped to be attached to the user's head, the user can relieve eyelid spasm without being conspicuous from the back of the head, and the eyelid spasm reliever 1 can be used daily. In the usage mode of Fig. 3, by wearing a hat, the eyelid spasm reliever 1 can be made invisible from the outside. Also, by adjusting the length of the extending portion 5 according to the adjustment of the position of the pressing portion 3, it is also possible to use the eyelid spasm reliever 1 like a hairpin as in the usage mode of Fig. 4.

[0042] [Other Embodiments] (a) As shown in Fig. 5, the pair of extending portions 5, 5 may further have a pair of linear portions 52, 52 connected between a pair of arcuate portions 51, 51 and a pair of curved portions 53, 53. The distance between the pair of linear portions 52, 52 is constant from the pair of arcuate portions 51, 51 to the pair of curved portions 53, 53. The distance may be set according to the size of the user's head. By having the linear portion 52 in the extending portion 5, the eyelid spasm reliever 1 can be easily attached to the user's head, and an appropriate pressing strength can be obtained.

[0043] (b) In the above embodiment, the instrument body 2 is assumed to have a pair of arcuate portions 51, but the instrument body 2 may not have a pair of arcuate portions 51, 51. In this case, a pair of linear portions 52, 52 may be connected to the central portion 4, or a pair of curved portions 53, 53 may be connected to the central portion 4. Note that the central portion 4 may not be linear, and may be a shape in which a plurality of linear portions are joined. Regarding the arcuate portion 51 and the curved portion 53, they may also be in a shape in which a plurality of linear portions are joined to form a substantially arcuate shape.

[0044] (c) In the above-described embodiment, it is assumed that the shape and size of the hole portion 32 of the movable member 31 and the cross-sectional shape and size of the instrument main body 2 are substantially the same. However, the size of the hole portion 32 may be larger than the cross-sectional size of the instrument main body 2. In this case, it is preferable to provide a fixing mechanism such as a protrusion for fixing the position. Further, the movable member 31 does not necessarily have the hole portion 32 as long as the relative position in the instrument main body 2 can be adjusted.

[0045] (d) The movable range of the movable member 31 may be limited. That is, the movable range of the movable member 31 in the curved portion 53 may be formed such that its cross-sectional area is smaller than that of the other curved portions 53. Thereby, it is possible to prevent the movable member 31 from moving excessively toward the linear portion 52. Further, protrusions or the like for restricting the movable range of the movable member 31 may be formed on the curved portion 53.

[0046] (e) In the above-described embodiment, the pressing portion 3 is configured in a conical shape whose diameter decreases as it approaches the instrument main body 2. However, as shown in FIG. 6, it may have a shape whose diameter decreases as it moves away from the instrument main body 2, or may be configured to have the same shape from the outside to the inside of the instrument main body 2. Further, as shown in FIG. 7, the pressing portion 3 may be configured in a spherical shape having a vertex inside the instrument main body 2. In this case, the cross-sectional shape of the sphere is not particularly limited and may be an ellipsoid.

[0047] (f) In the above-described embodiment, the pressing portion 3 is assumed to have one flat pressing surface 30. However, as shown in FIG. 8, the pressing portion 3 may have a plurality of protruding pressing surfaces 30. By pressing the temples with the plurality of pressing surfaces 30, it becomes possible to further relieve blepharospasm. Further, as shown in FIG. 9, the pressing portion 3 may be in a suction cup shape in which the circumference of the pressing portion 3 constitutes the pressing surface 30. Thereby, the pressing portion 3 is easily fixed to the temple, and compression can be obtained at a wider portion.

[0048] (g) The pressing part 3 may be configured to be detachable from the instrument body 2. Thereby, it is possible to select a pressing part 3 that can be pressed with the pressing strength required by the user from a plurality of pressing parts 3 having different pressing surfaces 30.

[0049] (h) The eyelid spasm reliever 1 may be integrated with a hat, a headband, a cap, etc. Thereby, the instrument body 2 and the pressing part 3 are not conspicuous, and it becomes possible to use the eyelid spasm reliever 1 daily even when away from home.

[0050] (i) The instrument body 2 may be provided with a temperature control function for heating or cooling the user's temples and a weak current generation function capable of passing a weak current. Thereby, it becomes possible to further relieve eyelid spasms.

[0051] (j) The instrument body 2 may be equipped with a sensor for determining the degree of eyelid spasm. Based on the information measured by the sensor, for example, by changing the structure of the pressing part 3 or the like to change the pressing strength of the eyelid spasm reliever 1, it becomes possible to provide an eyelid spasm reliever 1 suitable for the user.

[0052] (k) The pressing part 3 may be an integral member fixedly attached to the instrument body 2 in advance, or may be a protruding part that bulges inside the instrument body 2.

[0053] (l) In the above-described embodiment, an embodiment in which the pressing part 3 of the eyelid spasm reliever 1 presses the temples is shown, but any part of the head that can relieve eyelid spasms is acceptable and is not limited to the temples.

Industrial Applicability

[0054] The present invention can be used for an eyelid spasm reliever that is easy to use daily and can appropriately press the temples.
