Description

[Technical field]

[0001] Technical Field This patent application of the invention relates generally to the fields of aesthetic medicine, sports medicine, and venous lymphology.

[0002] Although the invention is applicable in all fields in which such a device can be used to advantage, preferably the invention relates to the field of the treatment of various forms of cellulite and lipolymphedema. [Background technology]

[0003] prior art As is well known, cellulite appears from an aesthetic point of view in the form of irregularities on the epidermal surface and is scientifically called edematous fibrosclerotic panniculosis.

[0004] Cellulite is the alteration of subcutaneous tissue rich in fat cells, characterized precisely by an increase in their volume, which leads to the accumulation in the intercellular spaces of excess fluids left over from biochemical processes in the body. The balance of the venous and lymphatic systems is altered due to reduced blood flow and fluid retention by the tissues.

[0005] The manifestations of cellulite can be considered to depend on various factors, which are often synergistic, although all can essentially be traced back to alterations in the microcirculation. Some of these factors cannot be excluded, because they are gender, race, or intimate, and are therefore defined as primary, some as secondary, because they are linked to certain aspects of life, to certain pathologies, or to the intake of drugs, and other, even more aggravating factors, such as an inappropriate diet or a sedentary lifestyle, which can certainly be controlled by changing the lifestyle. Since the 1970s, cellulite has been classified as an independent pathological condition, rather than a comprehensive abnormality.

[0006] Treatment for cellulite includes both surgical and non-invasive methods.

[0007] Surgical cellulite removal, commonly referred to as liposuction, involves the effective removal of limited, fairly widespread areas of fat deposits, often with the aid of general anesthesia. Admittedly, although effective, this is a highly invasive technique and is therefore only indicated for the most severe cases.

[0008] Apart from treatment with anti-cellulite creams, which are not a direct part of the present invention, there are many non-invasive treatments for treating cellulite, including cavitation, ultrasound, low frequency, electrolipolysis, cryoscratchery, laser therapy, ozone therapy, pressure therapy, lymphatic drainage, and magnetic therapy. These techniques are widely practiced by both specialist institutions and by patients themselves, and are more or less effective in eliminating or at least reducing this disorder.

[0009] First, it is considered that for many years skin suction techniques have been used, in which tissue is suctioned and pulled using cylinders, and that this technique, based on the well-known tissue compression micro-vibration technique for its purpose, both in specialist institutions and for direct use by the user, has gradually evolved using less bleeding techniques that have shown varying degrees of effectiveness in eliminating or at least reducing the types of abnormalities mentioned above. Summary of the Invention [Problem to be solved by the invention]

[0010] Therefore, the main objective of the present invention is to provide a kit, which is generally based on the well-known technique of tissue compression micro-vibration, and which can function much more effectively in improving this abnormality compared to existing prior art employing this technique.

[0011] Another object of the invention is to provide all those who carry out professional activities related to the treatment of this type of defect with a medical kit capable of carrying out at least two of the above mentioned techniques in a synergistic manner in order to be able to reach one type of disease or, better, several types of diseases in a synergistic manner.

[0012] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an apparatus designed to solve the aforementioned objectives, which will become apparent from the detailed description of illustrative and non-limiting embodiments thereof as set forth below. [Means for solving the problem]

[0013] Summary of the Invention This patent application for an industrial invention describes and claims a kit having at least one new alternative solution to previously known solutions and which in particular aims to eliminate one or more of the above-mentioned disadvantages or problems and / or to meet one or more needs recognized in the art and in particular deduced from the above.

[0014] To this end, the inventors have developed an effective medical kit that allows to realize the benefits derived from the combined magnetic therapy, electrical stimulation and compression micro-vibration treatment of tissues, all combined with effective thermographic control.Indeed, said inventive kit consists of a magnetic therapy device generating compression micro-vibrations, at least one electrical stimulation device and a digital thermographic camera.

[0015] In particular, the kit can be advantageously used to improve diseases associated with vascular hemodynamics, increased interstitial fibrous tissue, lymphostasis, and lymphedema, as well as painful conditions resulting from edematous conditions, post-traumatic and rehabilitative physical therapy.

[0016] More specifically, said kit of the invention comprises a body element provided with at least one recess for storing at least one handpiece and at least one screen, preferably a touch screen, capable of providing a communication interface between a user and a computer terminal contained in such body element, said body element being connected to said handpiece via an electrical connection cable or via a battery system with Wi-Fi or Bluetooth wireless connection, and in which is stored a rotor, consisting of a number of balls with specific internal and external geometries associated with calibrated elastomeric characteristics and whose viscoelastic properties allow the transmission in a controlled manner of pressure to the area of the body to be treated.

[0017] In particular, a fundamental feature of the invention relates to the fact that the system is suitable such that, by placing the handpiece on the skin under its own weight alone, the mechanical resistance encountered by the rotor ball while sliding over the patient's tissue is detected by a dedicated system of pressure and speed sensors, in this way the type of edema or fibrous tissue in the tissue contacted by the ball is detected and therefore the strength of the device is uniquely adjusted depending on the resistance by dedicated software.

[0018] Specifically, the specific mechanical characteristics relate to the fact that, according to the present invention, said calibrated elastomeric characteristics of each row of balls, i.e. balls with the same viscoelastic properties, are a means to obtain identified compression harmonics at the treatment site in addition to the conventional pulsatile compression effect already present in the industry. Even more specifically, said compression micro-oscillation technique of tissues realized by the formation of compression harmonics at the treatment site is due to the hypercompression effect, which utilizes muscles as active resistance when the tissues of the body periodically contact with rows of balls with high stiffness during the rotation of the rotor. It is therefore intuitive to think that the frequency, duration and amplitude of said compression harmonics also directly result from the arrangement of said rows of balls with high stiffness between rows of balls with viscoelastic properties.

[0019] Another innovative feature of the kit of the present invention is that the benefits derived from the tissue compression micro-vibration technique described above are effectively realized by combining it with the physical therapy of magnetotherapy, all by designing said handpiece to accommodate a specially conceived solenoid capable of emitting an electromagnetic field suitable for carrying out with the treatment of magnetotherapy.Indeed, it appears that magnetotherapy can stimulate tissue regeneration, effectively for therapeutic and healing purposes, only by restoring the biochemical equilibrium of cells. For example, it appears to be effective as an adjunct therapy for cellulite, precisely because it acts directly on fat cells, generating strong metabolic stress and local blood circulation, reducing the water retention and inflammation associated with cellulite itself.

[0020] Another essential feature of the kit according to the invention is the presence in said body element of an electrical stimulation device suitable for carrying out the desired electrical stimulation treatment together with the magnetic therapy and micro-vibration therapy in the vicinity of the target site. The positioning of electrodes, whether self-adhesive electrodes, pre-gelled electrodes or bands for electrical stimulation devices, in the target site for the compression micro-vibration treatment is a substantial feature of the invention, since it is inventively linked to the already mentioned features of the generation of compression harmonics determined in the target site for treatment. In particular, said hyper-compression effect is determined by the presence of at least one row of hard balls between rows of balls with specific viscoelastic properties, said hyper-compression effect allowing the moment when said hyper-compression caused by the row of hard balls occurs on the tissue to coincide with the moment when the electrical impulse is generated, by said dedicated software, which adjusts the rotor speed parameters as well as the type, frequency, duration, intensity and latency of the pulse. In particular, said synchronization causes an involuntary contraction of the muscle, which is suitable for increasing the active resistance of the muscle itself at the moment when the hypercompressive effect occurs, thus generating an amplified compression harmonic, which effectively propagates to adjacent areas.

[0021] Another equally fundamental inventive feature related to the inventive object of the present kit concerns the possibility of implementing thermography technology through the presence of a digital thermographic camera connected to a computer terminal stored in said body element, which moves said digital thermographic camera over the relevant area of the patient to obtain a mapping of each part of the body before, during and at the end of the treatment session, allowing the temperature differences in that area to be visually highlighted with different colors. In this way it is possible to distinguish normothermic areas with normal blood circulation from more hypothermic areas where blood circulation is inhibited or poorly circulated and therefore where various stages of cellulite are present.

[0022] Another aspect parallel to all of the above technical solutions, but particularly relevant to the implementation of the present invention, relates to the creation and development of a number of programs that can best and effectively perform all the functions resulting from the technical features described above, to be used in a data processing system and to create software specifically developed by the inventors.

[0023] Said dedicated software is able to process input data from sensors located on the handpiece and manage output data in order to adjust the speed of the rotor, both by synchronizing it with the electrical impulses emitted by the electrical stimulator and by adjusting it based on the presence of various fibrotic areas through detailed feedback mechanisms provided for operator intervention that can change the automatic settings of the system. In other words, said device inventively exhibits a mechanism for adjusting the intensity of the stimulation emitted by the electrical stimulator and the associated speed of the rotor according to the resistance encountered on the tissue and therefore in relation to the presence of fibrotic areas that are somewhat incompressible, a clear indication of cellulite areas.

[0024] It is therefore a specific object of the present invention to provide an inventive medical kit, including associated dedicated software, capable of realizing the benefits derived from a combination of magnetic therapy treatments, compression micro-vibration treatments and electrical stimulation, all assisted by thermography, in the treatment or alleviation of aesthetic defects caused by cellulite.

[0025] Another, more general object is to provide a kit which can be advantageously used in the amelioration of diseases associated with vascular hemodynamics, increased interstitial fibrous tissue, lymphostasis and lymphedema, and painful conditions resulting from edematous conditions.

[0026] Further features of the invention are set forth in the following detailed description of one or more of its embodiments, which are protected by various dependent patent claims.

[0027] BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS The above and other advantages and features of the present invention will be illustrated with reference to the accompanying drawings as follows, which are purely for illustrative purposes and are not intended to limit or constrain the effects of this patent application. [0029] Detailed Description of the Invention It will be readily apparent that various changes and modifications (e.g., in terms of shape, size, arrangement, and parts having the same functionality) may be made to what has been described hereinbefore without departing from the scope of the present invention as set forth in the appended claims.

[0030] Indeed, the present invention proposes a new and / or alternative solution to previously known solutions, in particular to rectify one or more of the above-mentioned drawbacks or problems and / or to satisfy one or more requirements felt in the art, in particular those deducible from the above.

[0031] As shown in detail in FIG. 1, the kit is shown for the treatment of inflammation of fat cells, venous and lymphatic pathology, and for general muscle rehabilitation, and includes an electromagnetic therapy device 100 with compression micro-vibration function, an electrical stimulation device, and a digital thermography camera 300.

[0032] More specifically, said electromagnetic treatment device 100 with compression micro-vibration function comprises a body element 110 provided with at least one recess 111 for storing at least one handpiece 150 and at least one screen 112, preferably a touch screen, capable of providing a communication interface between a user and a computer terminal contained in such body element 110. Said body element 110 is connected to the handpiece 150 via an electrical connection cable 120 or via any wireless system, and houses therein a rotor 200, which consists of a number of balls with an internal and external configuration suitable for achieving calibrated elastomer characteristics and capable of transmitting energy in a controlled manner to the treatment target area due to its specific viscoelastic properties.

[0033] In particular, the different geometries of the ball are aimed at achieving specific, pre-determined effects on the patient's skin.

[0034] As shown in Figures 2A-B, the handpiece 150 consists of a head 160, a barrel 170 and a handle 180. The barrel 170 has a recess suitable for accommodating the rotor 200 as shown in Figures 3A-B and is shaped like a hollow cylinder, which has a number of balls 190 inserted on its side so that they can rotate freely through a longitudinal central channel 191 (see Figure 6) on a sliding bush 197 (see Figure 3B), each pin 192 being common to at least four balls 190, the rotation axis of the balls 190 and of the rotor 200 coinciding with the insertion axis into the recess of the handpiece 150, and the pins 192 being restrained by the head ring nut 181 and the ring nut of the handle 162, respectively. The ring nut of the handle 162 comprises a central mounting system, specifically shown in FIG. 5, adapted to be inserted into a rotating mechanism 184 forming part of an electric motor 171 housed in the handle 180, the electric motor 171 being connected by insulating support means and fastening means 410 to the electrical connection cable 120, itself connected to the computer terminal compressed inside the body element 110.

[0035] Rotation of rotor 200 causes passive rotation of each individual ball 190 as it slides over the patient's tissue through a rectangular opening 172 provided on the barrel 170 of handpiece 150, shown in Figures 3 and 5. An interface including a display 173, a number of indicators 174, and a number of buttons 175 is fabricated on barrel 170 opposite rectangular opening 172, as shown in Figures 2A and 5.

[0036] 4, the head 160 includes a flange 161, one side of which allows the head ring nut 181 to rotate, and the other side of which is constrained by the handpiece cap 182. The cap 182 is connected to the head 160 of the handpiece 150 through at least one common pair of reversible connection systems 183, thus allowing its removal to easily remove and replace the rotor 200 after each session or for sterilization purposes associated therewith.

[0037] The basic feature of the present invention is that the ball 190 is made of an elastomeric material with different degrees of elasticity and has a specific internal structure consisting of a number of longitudinal internal channels 193 made in parallel around the longitudinal central channel 191, as shown in detail in Figures 2, 3 and 6A-B, or a geometric shape suitable for reproducing a specific elastic effect.

[0038] The combination of the elastic properties and the presence of the longitudinal internal channel 193 is made to give the balls 190 well-defined viscoelastic properties, which are utilized in a calibrated way to absorb part of the pressure transmitted by the handpiece 150 to the target area of the patient. As shown in Figure 3, another innovative feature results from the fact that the combination of making rows of balls 190 each having the same viscoelastic properties and the presence in the rotor of at least one row of hard balls 198 (see Figure 3B) that do not have the longitudinal internal channel 193 and therefore can exert a hyper-compression effect on the similar balls 190, gives the device of the present invention the ability to generate amplified specific compression harmonics on the target area, in addition to the conventional compression effects already present in the industry. It is therefore intuitively believed that the frequency, duration and shape of the compression harmonics also result directly from the combination of the presence of at least one row of hard balls 198 and the arrangement of the rows of balls 190 with viscoelastic properties.

[0039] This forms another particular feature of the invention, which includes within the cavity of said rotor 200 an inducer device 140, consisting of at least a cylindrical solenoid, as shown in particular in Figures 2B, 3A and 4, engaging a rotary bearing 141 at one end which is itself constrained by said head ring nut 181. The presence of said inducer device 140 within the handpiece 150 is a further characterizing aspect of the invention, since it allows the combined application of magnetic therapy treatment to tissues and improved compression micro-vibration treatment to the tissues to be achieved.

[0040] Another specific feature of the invention shown in Figures 2A and 3A is the fabrication of a pressure sensor 130 on the handpiece cap 182 adapted to detect the pressure of the rotor 200 that the ball 190 exerts on the tissue of the patient undergoing treatment, and which is connected to an electronic control unit 135 shown in Figure 2B through a connection arrangement 131 (Figures 2 and 4) consisting of a multi-pin connector.

[0041] Another specific feature of the invention shown in FIG. 5 is the provision of a rotation sensor 132 in the handpiece, located near the rotation mechanism 184 or via an encoder located on the rotation shaft of the motor, adapted to detect the rotation of the rotor in real time and thus transmit data to the electronic control unit 135, which is controlled by a computer terminal by a wiring system passing through the electrical connection cable 120.

[0042] Specifically, a fundamental feature of the present invention relates to the entire system inventively providing a mechanism for adjusting the strength of the device according to the resistance encountered on the tissue and therefore with respect to the presence of slightly incompressible fibrous areas that are a clear indication of cellulite areas. In other words, a dedicated system of pressure sensor 130 and rotation sensor 132 is made to ensure that by placing the handpiece on the skin under its own weight alone, the mechanical resistance encountered while the rotor ball is sliding on the patient's tissue is detected, and therefore the type of normal, edematous or fibrous tissue that the ball comes into contact with is detected, and therefore the strength of the device is uniquely adjusted according to the resistance.

[0043] As shown in FIG. 2B, it is located near the rear of an electronic control unit 135 , which further manages the power supply to the inductor device 140 through the connection device 131 .

[0044] Another basic component of the inventive kit shown in Fig. 1 is represented by the presence in the body element 110 of an electrical stimulator connected via an electrical cable 260 to a common electrode 250, which may be a self-adhesive electrode, a pregelled electrode or an electrical stimulation band suitable for positioning in the vicinity of the tissue part of the body to be treated by the handpiece 150, said electrical cable 260 being connected through a common inlet plug 261 to a dedicated outlet 230 made on the body element 110. The positioning of the electrode 250 on the part of the patient's body represents a basic feature of the invention, since it is associated with a hypercompression effect identified by the presence of at least one row of hard balls 198 between the rows of balls 190 with viscoelastic properties, and by dedicated software adjusting the parameters of impulse type, frequency, duration and intensity, the moment when said hypercompression caused by the row of hard balls 198 occurs on the tissue can be matched to the moment when an electrical impulse capable of causing an involuntary contraction of the muscle is generated. This synchronization is suitable for amplifying the active resistance of the muscle at the moment when the hypercompressive effect occurs, thus generating effectively compressive and well-defined harmonics that propagate onto the adjacent tissue.

[0045] Another, equally more fundamental inventive feature of the inventive object of the kit of the invention, concerns the possibility of carrying out thermography through the presence of a digital thermographic camera 300 connected to a dedicated outlet 330 made on said body element 110 by means of an inlet plug 361 via a common electric cable 310 (or via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth). By mapping each part of the body obtained by moving said digital thermographic camera 300 over the parts of the patient's body before, during or at the end of the treatment session, it is possible to highlight in different colors the temperature differences created on the tissues, visually in real time and by storing the data in the form of a thermographic map. In this way it is possible to distinguish normothermic areas with normal blood circulation from more hypothermic areas where blood circulation is inhibited or poorly circulated and therefore where various stages of cellulite are present. The detected data are displayed in real time by the operator highlighting the areas where the operation of the device needs to be concentrated and are also transmitted to a computer terminal, which creates a thermographic map that can be viewed on said screen 112.

[0046] In parallel with all the technical solutions described so far, another aspect particularly related to the implementation of the present invention relates to the creation and development of several programs for use in a data processing system, creating said software, specifically developed by the inventor, capable of best and effectively implementing all the functions resulting from the technical features described above.

[0047] For this purpose, the dedicated software assists the operator in real time, on the one hand, through the display 173 and the indicator 174, by showing both the pressure exerted in real time by the rotor 200 on the tissue of the patient to be treated, and therefore exerted by the balls and detected by the pressure sensor 130, and the number of rotations of the rotor 200 detected in real time by the rotation sensor 132, so that he can adjust the parameters of pulse type, frequency and duration to coincide the moment when the hypercompression generated by the row of hard balls 198 occurs on the tissue with the moment when the electrical impulse is generated by the electrodes 250.

[0048] Furthermore, the dedicated software allows the operator, via the interface buttons 175, to instantly change all parameters set in the computer terminal at the beginning of the session based on standard basic settings or based on data in memory obtained from previous sessions with a particular patient. In particular, the parameters set in the computer terminal at the beginning of the session are the rotor speed, the strength of the inductor impulse, the frequency of the impulse and a feedback mechanism linking the automatic change of rotor speed based on the resistance encountered by the ball during contact with the patient's tissue.

[0049] Another version of the invention provides that the kit also includes an elastic band 340, adaptable to any patient's body, containing said electrode 250. The function of the band 340 is to allow treatment with the handpiece 150 and to prevent damage or dislodging of the electrode 250 itself.

[0050] Therefore, a specific objective of the present invention is to develop an effective medical kit, including associated dedicated software, that allows to realize the benefits obtained from a combination of magnetic therapy treatment and compression micro-vibration treatment of tissues and electrical stimulation, all of which is supported by the use of thermography in the treatment or alleviation of aesthetic disorders caused by cellulite, and through a non-invasive treatment, therefore suitable for all ages and, in particular, without contraindications.

[0051] Another, more general objective is to realize a combination of magnetic therapy treatment with compressive micro-vibrations and tissue electrical stimulation, all obtainable in a few applications, which can be advantageously used in improving diseases related to vascular hemodynamics, the increase in interstitial fibrous tissue, lymphatic retention and lymphedema, and painful conditions resulting from edematous conditions.

[0052] Of course, the data provided herein are purely exemplary and absolutely non-limiting with respect to the scope of the invention, since they merely serve to enable a person skilled in the art to understand some possible applications and embodiments of the invention. It will therefore be clear from the above that the inventive concept can be adapted to the specific needs of each individual case, and therefore various modifications can be made to the above without departing from its scope of protection, which is defined by the following dependent patent claims.
