Abstract

The present invention provides a method for improving the surface wettability of a contact lens by reducing its water contact angle to less than 90°, comprising the step of casting a mixture of monomers in a mold formed from a mold-forming resin containing a polyether-modified polyolefin to form a contact lens having a water contact angle of less than approximately 90°. [Solution] A method for manufacturing a contact lens having a water contact angle of less than approximately 90° includes the steps of: preparing a moldable resin containing a polyether-modified polyolefin; forming the moldable resin in a mold; preparing a contact lens composition; filling the mold with the contact lens composition; and polymerizing the contact lens composition to form a contact lens. A method for making the water contact angle of a contact lens less than 90° and improving its surface wettability includes the step of casting and polymerizing a mixture of monomers in a mold formed from a moldable resin containing a polyether-modified polyolefin to form a contact lens having a water contact angle of less than approximately 90°. Furthermore, a single-use mold for manufacturing contact lenses is also provided.
