Abstract
Description
[Background technology]
[0001] There are a variety of skin conditions that cause discomfort or embarrassment to individuals, either cosmetically or as a result of disease. Among these conditions are acne, rosacea, aging, skin discoloration and photodamage, psoriasis, dandruff and eczema, facial redness, dermatitis, etc.
[0002] Acne vulgaris is an inflammatory skin disorder that frequently occurs during adolescence. The condition can include skin lesions ranging from comedones in hair follicles to more severe conditions such as pustules, papules, cysts, and nodules. The condition can be uncomfortable and embarrassing, and can lead to scarring. The initial pathology is the formation of comedones (more commonly called whiteheads) and blackheads, which are composed of hard keratinous masses that block hair follicles and are associated with increased sebum production.
[0003] Another skin condition requiring treatment is rosacea, a common chronic skin condition characterized by a range of clinical signs including flushing attacks, erythema, telangiectasias, an acne-like inflammatory papulopustular rash, and ocular manifestations.
[0004] Psoriasis is a chronic, widespread skin disorder that affects millions of humans and even livestock. The disorder is characterized by recurrent, raised, red lesions, plaques, or, rarely, pustules, on the skin. The plaques are the result of excessively rapid proliferation and shedding of epithelial (skin) cells.
[0005] Eczema (including but not limited to atopic, nummular, and hand eczema) often has similar overlapping characteristics as psoriasis. They may occur together, or the disease may begin as eczema and transform over time into psoriasis. Treatment is corticosteroids and similar formulations commonly used for both of these conditions.
[0006] The most common form of seborrheic dermatitis (seborrhea) is simple dandruff. This condition can become more severe and cause scaly, red patches to form on the face, ears, chest, and other widespread areas. It often occurs in conjunction with psoriasis.
[0007] In addition to the above conditions, skin aging is a complex phenomenon that can result in changes to the skin.
[0008] Although there are many treatments described in the art for improving the appearance and condition of skin, there remains a need for compositions with improved effectiveness without undesirable side effects. Summary of the Invention

[0071] Example The following examples further illustrate the embodiments disclosed herein. These examples are provided solely for the purpose of illustrating preferred embodiments of the invention, and are not intended to limit the invention in any manner. [Example]
[0072] Skin studies in Korea with Vinia® capsules: In early 2023, 12 participants from South Korea were recruited from an online community of people with various skin complaints (e.g., acne, atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, facial redness, folliculitis, dry skin, itchy skin, etc.) to evaluate the effectiveness of Vinia® for various skin conditions. Participants had to have a long-term skin-related health complaint (e.g., atopic dermatitis, facial redness, acne, or dry skin). It should be noted that many people with atopic dermatitis have very dry skin due to their skin's inability to retain moisture. After a 10-day selection period, candidates were selected and each was mailed two bottles of Vinia® along with instructions for taking Vinia® in the following manner: for the first 14 days, participants were instructed to take one Vinia® capsule. For the next 21 days, participants were instructed to increase their dosage to two Vinia® capsules per day. All participants were instructed to take Vinia® with water before breakfast. Photographs of the skin areas of greatest concern to participants were taken at various time points during the study (before taking Vinia®, at the end of week 1, week 2, week 3, week 4, and week 5). Two participants could not be contacted, and one participant was unable to report results.
[0073] Nine study participants reported beneficial effects from Vinia® treatment. Five reported high satisfaction. One woman (Subject #9), who had been complaining of facial redness, itching, and allergies, reported a significant improvement in her symptoms, as shown in photographs of her cheeks and chin after Vinia treatment. In her own words, she "felt like she had a 'facial treatment.'" One woman (Subject #4) reported that her facial redness disappeared after taking Vinia for several weeks. She reported that the redness only appeared during exercise and disappeared shortly thereafter, whereas before taking Vinia®, the redness persisted for several days. A 10-year-old woman with severe atopic dermatitis reported a dramatic reduction in her itching and redness. Two males (Subjects #1 and #3) who had been complaining of acne also saw improvement. The remaining subjects reported mild satisfaction. One woman did not experience any improvement in her skin condition, but felt that she had more energy while taking Vinia® (Subject #2 in the table below).
[0074] Three participants reported during the study. A male college student with long-standing atopic dermatitis (Subject #1) reported, "It felt like my skin was covered in something special, something I'd never experienced before." One woman reported feeling as if she had received a "facial treatment." The mother of a 10-year-old female with atopic dermatitis (Subject #6) reported that she could literally "see the skin barrier forming before her eyes."
[0075] Dose Effect: Two of the nine participants (Subjects #1 and #9) reported experiencing better results when they increased their Vinia® dosage from one capsule to two capsules.
[0076] Table 1 below provides an overview of the study. [Table 1]
[0077] The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Vinia® on various skin conditions at specific dosages, durations, and timing of Vinia® intake throughout the day.
[0078] conclusion Results demonstrated that participants taking one capsule of Vinia® for the first 14 days, followed by two capsules per day for the next 21 days, significantly improved skin conditions such as allergies, atopic dermatitis, facial redness, breakouts, acne, itching, and dry skin. Data suggest beneficial effects in both women and men. [Example]
[0079] Skin tests with creams containing Vinia®: A cream containing approximately 2% Vinia® was administered to six subjects over the age of 50 with various skin conditions. All subjects reported improvement in their skin disease or disorder, with one subject (#1) reporting that Vinia® helped with facial redness, dry skin, and blisters, while other topical treatments (steroids, antibiotics) did not help at all.
[0080] The study aimed to collect information on the effects of creams containing Vinia® on skin conditions such as facial redness, dry skin, skin blisters, red spots, hyperpigmentation, and wrinkles, and evaluated the duration of treatment. [Table 2]
[0081] Conclusion: The results demonstrate that a cream containing Vinia® significantly improved skin conditions such as facial redness, dry skin, skin blisters, red spots, hyperpigmentation, and wrinkles in participants. The data suggest beneficial effects in both women and men.
