The present invention discloses a group information processing method, and when capacity expansion needs to be performed on the number of people upper limit value of a target group group, a capacity expansion request including an identifier of the target group group is sent according to a trigger operation of a first user on the target group group, where the capacity expansion request is used to request an expansion of the group member number upper limit value of the target group group. A second user having capacity expansion authority can set the number of people upper limit value of the target group group based on the capacity expansion request. In response to the setting operation of the second user on the target group group, a capacity expansion response is sent to the client of the first user to indicate the result of performing capacity expansion on the target group group. As can be seen, when the number of people upper limit value of the target group group needs to be changed, the first user can self-apply for capacity expansion, and the application requirements can be met. At the same time, the second user can use the management background to set the number of people upper limit value of one group group, and thus the capacity of one group can be flexibly managed.
